Operation Stella Polaris

Robert

Just to add a few pieces that I have collected over the past several decades:

Yardley, for some reason was close enough to John "Frenchy" Grombach to have a Grombach book dedicated to him. Harrod Miller seems to have served with Grombach in central America cica 1930's. Grombach, along with McCloy associate Whitney Shepardson, were the leaders of the Secret Intelligence operations during WW II that were originally organized by John J. McCloy in his role as Asst. Sec. of Defence. Working with and around all of them is Richard Helms and all seem to be associated with Stella Polaris.

Now this is where I believe we should be looking not at the coincidence that these people are all associated together but rather the fact that their association would concern the actual security of the United States, a guarentee that there association to one Lee Harvey Oswald would never be revealed.

Deceased Name: Wilho Tikander

Wilho Tikander, 61, a magistrate in the Cook county Circuit court's land title section, collapsed and died yesterday, apparently of a heart attack, in front of 39 S. La Salle st. Mr. Tikander, who lived at 4250 Marine dr., became a title examiner in the county's torrens office in January, 1962, and was appointed a magistrate when court reform went into effect. He was born in Biwabik, Minn., was graduated from Georgetown university, and was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1935. From 1939 to 1942 he was a special attorney in the department of justice anti-trust division in Washington. Mr. Tikander was special assistant to the American minister in Stockholm and was chief of the office of strategic services in Sweden from 1942 to 1945. After the war he was a consultant to the central intelligence agency before he returned to Chicago to practice law. He was a past president of the Nordic Law Club of Chicago and the Finnish-American Chamber of Commerce of Chicago, a director of the Swedish Pioneer Historical society, and a member of the Finlandia Foundation. He was a knight 1st class of Finland's Order of the Lion.

Robert: If memory serves correctly, Cook County has surfaced on more than a few occasions in JFK lore, ie Richard Cain, [remember Cain's little pre-assassination visit to Mexico] it also has ramifications concerning one of the least well known patsies of the JFK Assassination the Chinese Communists.....I have always wondered why there is so little mention of this by the Mighty Wurlitzer, figuring since it is so frequently mentioned in CIA Archives, that perhaps it is a little politically incorrect to be hurling barbs at the Chinese-Communists in Langley, VA circles, especially when Fidel and the Russians were the preferred "who did it" of sanctioned American intelligence history.
