Thomas H. Purvis
Although much of this forum appears to operate under the "shotgun*/aka Babe Ruth**" syndrone of research: *If one shoots enough pellets into the air, they are bound to hit something, at some time! **No matter how many times one strikes out, if he hits a great home run then he will become known for it! The Smathers connection(s) to the ultimate persons responsible for the assassination of JFK is a course pre-requisite if one is to come to recognize the "big money" which was behind the assassination of JFK. It is therefore worth full exploration-----hopefully by others as well.

The sugar trail also winds through Philadelphia, where Dr. Enrique Menocal established the Cuban Aid Relief (CAR) for anti-Castro Cuban professionals in exile, in league with the Catherwood Foundation and one E. Wharton Shober. Menocal was childhood friends with Fidel and originally supported the revolution and was made Director of the Sugar Institute before defecting and accusing his old friend as being crazy. Shober, a blue blood son of a former Pennsylvania governor, he worked for a CIA front ATEK - a printing company out of Chicago that dealed in South America. He then became head of Hannanmen Hospital in Philadelphia at the time they received their CIA/USArmy medical research contracts. Shober arranged for his good friend Anastasio Somoza, dictator of Nicaragua, to recieve an honorary doctors degree from the affiliated medical college, much to the dismay of the students and faculty. Menocal and Shober were only two of a dozen distinguished members of the CAR, and both still have family on Philadelphia's Main Line. Shober was last heard from directing a hosptial in Saudi Arabia. Lansky's first company was Molaska, out of North Jersey. It was run, I think, by Lansky's father in law. BK
