Paul Wolfowitz gives a speech at West Point 3 months before 911. Mr. Wolfowitz makes some startling remarks. Is anyone aware of any other astonishingly prescient comments he might have made in or around that time period? Interesting the (formal?) admission that the intelligence from the crypto breaks never trickled down to the field commanders before Pearl Harbor. Strange linkage, strange timing don't you think? Can anyone guess the Shakespearean quote I am reminded of?

When the 9/11 attacks were in progress, Wolfowitz participated in the hide-and-seek game that was played at the highest level of the U.S. defense command structure. Like the President (continuing for several minutes to listen to a pet goat story after knowing both towers were hit), the Secretary of Defense (choosing to sit in his office and listen to a daily CIA briefer as usual, after knowing both towers were hit), and the Acting Chairman of the Joint Chiefs (holed up in a meeting about his confirmation with Senator Cleland on Capitol Hill, to emerge from Cleland's office only when the Pentagon was hit), Asst Secretary of Defense Wolfowitz was conducting a meeting in his Pentagon office when told that a plane had hit the WTC. They turned on the TV and saw the the second plane hit the WTC. And what did Wolfowitz do? As he told a DOD interviewer in 2003, "There didn't seem to be much to do about it immediately and we went on with whatever the meeting was" (Dept. of Defense, May 9, 2003; quoted in Paul Thompson, The Terror Timeline [NY: HarperCollins, 2004], p. 394).

All four of these men at the pinnacle of the nation's defense command simultaneously chose not to be available, not to put themselves into any position in which they might be expected to give orders or make suggestions about what to do, or just to acquire "situational awareness" as befitted their duties and responsibilities, as America was under attack. Why would all four behave this way, as if it were a concerted effort? Was it just a fourfold coincidence of negligent conduct? For all defenders of the official story of 9/11, there is no other explanation. How many here buy it?

They all knew it was going to happen, so why be surprised? They all sat there waiting for the dunce to get done his story telling time in Florida, and let them know what would be the most public pronouncement/action for them all and when. Just my opinion FWIW. thanks-smitty

If they weren't already on the morning speaking list for CNN by then, nothing much to do than watch the show on TV.

Add General Montague Winfield, the head of the Pentagon's National Military Command Center, to the do-nothing list as America was under attack. On the evening of September 10, Winfield arranged to be relieved from duty at his post, for unknown reasons, starting at 8:30 a.m. on 9/11. He resumed duty after the attacks were over (but later took credit for being there in the "hot seat").

And why was the director of the White House Situation Room traveling with the president that day, instead of being on the job at the White House?

Meanwhile the FAA's hijack coordinator was not at FAA headquarters but in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Who stood in for him that day? No one knows.

And what was Dick Cheney doing? After the towers were hit, the VP went to a White House bunker where, according to the ignored 9/11 Commission testimony of Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta who was there, Cheney (with the help of an unidentified "young man," who kept reporting the plane's distance and asked if "the order" still stood) tracked Flight 77 on its way to the Pentagon, while Rumsfeld and everyone else at the Pentagon were ostensibly unaware of the plane's approach. "Thanks for letting us know, Mr. Vice President."

Cheney is as big a weasel than the other. Thats all he did after the attacks........hid. You didnt see his butt anywhere for quite a while after that. Hiding like a frightened little child.

I recall Wolfowitz being asked by a Congressional committee what the U.S. casualty figures were in Iraq, and he didn't know. He had to hazard a guess.

Why should the masters of war be bothered with such details?

strange timing don't you think? Can anyone guess the Shakespearean quote I am reminded of?

"Et Tu Brute"

"Oh, I am fortunes fool"

"What a peice of work is man"

"There are more things in heaven and earth than are contained in your philosophy"

"Oh villian, villian smiling damned villian"

"though this be madness, yet there be reason to it"

Or my guess." Something is rotten in the State of Denmark"

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks". Hamlet ( Quote Act III, Sc. II).

This speech proves that this man is obviously a genius. A prescient force of incredible magnitude. We, the people who laugh at him for being the type of imbecile that licks his comb, has holes in his socks at World Bank meetings, must sit back and completely reassess this man. Such a moving, powerful speech. One would think that the administration would be touting how prophetic one of their ministers were, but, yet another dog not barking, I suppose, not barking painfully loud to me. And such eloquence, almost Gomer Pyle’ish.. Surprise, surprise. Wolfowitz for President! Better yet, I need a fortune teller like that! Maybe I could e-mail him to find out what tomorrows Daily Number is going to be, or who’s the Sunday favorite at Santa Anita! Thereeeee..Off!. I suspect he got a royal chewing out for this speech and none of his speeches ever went unreviewed again.

A couple of paras about Wolfowitz by Charley Reese.

Remember when Paul Wolfowitz was in the Defense Department? Why, he told Congress that the Iraqis will greet us as liberators and Iraqi oil will pay for the war and the reconstruction. Can't beat that deal – getting rid of a dictator the president doesn't like virtually cost-free.

Well, about a half-trillion dollars and more than 2,500 dead Americans later, it is safe to say that Mr. Wolfowitz was wrong. He was wrong about the greeting, wrong about the oil, wrong about the number of troops needed to occupy Iraq. Fortunately, he's gone to the World Bank, where the only things he can screw up are economies.

That's the world economy, Charley!

Selection Criteria for World Bank Chief

Essential

1/ Must have completely screwed up at least one country for no good reason.

2/ Must have demonstrated experience in formenting war-monguering lies at the highest level.
