  1. http://timesonline.typepad.com/comment/200...sarah-pali.html Sarah Palin and the man who wanted Robert Kennedy dead By Daniel Finkelstein When Sarah Palin used this phrase in her acceptance speech: she attributed it to "a writer". And added: I didn't think much more of it. But now the identity of the writer is causing quite a fuss. The man in question was called Westbrook Pegler. And a nasty piece of work he was too, given to vitriolic attacks on his opponent. In a strikingly silly piece in the New York Times Frank Rich takes the Governor to task for quoting Pegler. Rich says: Palin, who lies with ease about her own record, misrepresented Pegler’s too. He decreed America was “done for” after Truman won a full term in 1948. For his part, Truman regarded the columnist as a “guttersnipe,” and with good reason. Pegler was a rabid Joe McCarthyite who loathed F.D.R. and Ike and tirelessly advanced the theory that American Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe (“geese,” he called them) were all likely Communists. Nonsense. Palin did not misrepresent Pegler because she didn't talk about him. The one thing she said about Pegler was that his quote had praised Harry Truman. And it did. That having been said, I don't think Pegler is a person who should be quoted. And Robert Kennedy Jr shows why in a (Huffington) post so short but so devastating that I will simply reproduce it in full:
  2. John, First stab at an answer. Lodge appears to have shared JFK's conviction that no military solution, only a political one, was available or desirable in Vietnam. In his characteristically "diplomatic" memoir, The Storm Has Many Eyes (NY: WW Norton, 1973), Lodge wrote: Second, and relatedly, Lodge, like JFK, was a committed multilateralist: he left the Atlantic Institute, recall, to take the poison chalice that was the Saigon ambassadorship. Third, Kennedy's most pressing problem was the US press: Lodge was essentially being asked to reprise, only under much less favourable circumstances, the role of presidential shield he had undertaken for Eisenhower at the time of Khrushchev's visit. In both instances, Lodge was tasked with deflecting charges of insufficient presidential anti-communist zeal - the chief charge of Halberstam et al was, after all, that Diem wasn't prosecuting the war with anything like enough enthusiasm - while simultaneously not offending the the distinguished guest/host. Fourthly, Lodge, like Diem, spoke French. Sorry this is rushed, but tired and work beckons! Paul Henry Cabot Lodge. The Storm Has Many Eyes (NY: WW Norton, 1973), pp.205-213 (no text omitted):
  3. Give 'em time, Len, give 'em time. Long way to go to polling day yet. Plenty of opportunity for a false flag atrocity or two! Does Obama care? We know the circle of establishment Democrat exterminatory imperialists - Holbrooke et al - welcome the prospect of a renewed conflict with the Russians. But what does the great mainstream liberal hope think? Will we ever find out? And does Obama's view matter? What is almost as interesting is why The Nation, that home of establishment left-gatekeeping, is running a piece such as this: http://www.opednews.com/articles/Tom-Hayde...080823-382.html August 23, 2008 at 00:26:07 Tom Hayden Warns Netroots to "Recognize the Georgia Conspiracy" by Randy Abel http://www.thenation.com/doc/20080901/hayden2 Warning to Obama on the New Cold War By Tom Hayden August 21, 2008
  4. Just another Harvard-educated war criminal. Arrest him now!
  5. I love the idea you are "the military." Pomposity and self-delusion on the very grandest scale. But also instructive of a profound cultural division. In the UK, a guy who goes around boasting about his military record is regarded as a bore and a pratt. Quite right, too. Nothing: You just blew that eagerly sought Mods post. Which wasn't a million miles away from my intention. Paul

  7. A compelling, if inadvertent, argument for state ownership of the media - Novosti was much more accurate than the US media. A remarkably one-sided scepticism, it should be noted. The US media? As pure as the driven snow. Not a spook in sight. Poor, plucky little Georgia, and the "lion of Tskhinvali" – not a friend in the world! http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/aug/1...lishing.georgia On the press: Georgia has won the PR war By Peter Wilby The Guardian, Monday, August 18, 2008 About this article: This article appeared in the Guardian on Monday August 18 2008 on p7 of the News & features section. 8. HaHaHaHaHa Or perhaps not. Vote for Drago - vote early, and vote often. The GOP-ers will.
  9. What, I wonder, rendered waiting until the morning to return the FBI "first-generation" copy so out of the question? What compelled this hasty nocturnal journey? One very obvious answer: The appearance of Life magazine, dated 29 November, but distributed from late on the 25th onward. If the hypothesis is correct, we have a still frame sequence in Life's first post-assassination edition at variance with the film circulating in Dallas, and shown on Russian TV late on November 25, then WNEW-TV, NY (among other locations) early on the 26th. This dickering with the prearranged narrative should come as no surprise: Angelton's SIG unit seems to have been engaged in subverting the preparation, never mind the cover-up, of the assassination. A really significant breakthrough would be to find links between Angelton's core coup team, and the handlng of the Z fraud. A very fascinating story it promises to be. Paul
  10. It would only be fair, then, to characterise you as a complete and committed ranker? I am shocked and appalled to have received a complaint from a Mod about the above posting. I have implied no more than that which I post below: A Mod has inferred, well, I dread to think, and he has yet to specify. For the record, then, what is a "ranker"? http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ranker The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition copyright ©2000 by Houghton Mifflin Company. Updated in 2003. Published by Houghton Mifflin Company. All rights reserved. To characterise Mikey as "a complete and committed ranker" is thus absolutely accurate, given his self-confessed militaristic view of human affairs. Ignorance of the English language, not to mention a vague beastly-mindedness, is no defence. I rest my case, probably in lost property. EP Rigby Oh where to begin? If your inference was to enlisted rank, then yep, I was enlisted and reached the top of that chain. However, I doubt you know enough about me to state my views as militaristic. Was it militaristic to state that one should debate the issues rather than discredit the poster? Hardly. Of course I would not expect Mr. Rigby to understand such distinctions. Where in your definition Paul does it add beastly minded? Where does it add militaristic? Are those just little add ins that you try to associate to the base definition of an enlisted man? Of course what is apparent is that you were unhappy with just the base definition of an enlisted man, so you try to add something to that in an attempt to slide in an insult. Nice try. However this does show that you have contemptible views towards the military. That is of course your right. But it also makes you by definition XXXXX. A contemptuous person. So I will with pride be called a ranker, and given your contempt for the military you should be proudly called a xxxxxxx. Mike You've lost it, Mikey, good style. PS I thought it was only the Taiwanese military that got up tight about that sort of thing? Er, whatever it is.

  16. The Truth about Georgia gets censored again on TV “The Truth about Georgia gets censored again on TV. A [Russian] reporter makes a comparison to the US reaction to 911 to Russia's reaction to Georgian attacks and the satellite feed drops off in the middle of his question. TV is censored every day and every hour but sometimes the censorship is plain to see.” http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=322_1218816591 Technical glitches, don't yer love 'em?
  17. Some kind of Lancer virus, it would appear. Signals an extremely unfunny remark. Very strange, all the same.
  18. When the US government drops the liability in Georgia, I suppose. Won't be long, I suspect. What do you reckon, false flag assassination blamed on the Russkies?
  19. Dear, dear, touch tetchy tonight, Mikey. No one to censor over at Lancer? Two hacks for a neocon puppet and war criminal met on a forum. One said to the other...

Your point is ridiculous. Malign, quite possibly bonkers, but ridiculous. The South Ossetian capital and surrounding towns/villages weren't attacked by the Georgian war criminals, backed by NATO and the US? Really? Is this truly the best you could come up with? Paul
