  1. Tom,

FYI...Just playing around with the new real estate mapping service www.zillow.com and found that 4011 Turtle Crk blvd (zillow Id # 26693449) but couldn't locate exactly 3525 - it seems to be a condo.

    Chris

    Chris,

According to Gary Mack the two addresses are about half a mile apart. I can tell you that 3525 was indeed an apartment building.

  2. James, there is a police officer in the upper left corner of the photo you posted. Could that possibly be Badge Man? (Stan Wilbourne)

    Hi Stan,

Without getting into a discussion about the validity of Badge Man, that possibility has indeed been floated in the past.

The man in question does seem to be wearing a DPD uniform minus the hat. I also find the man leaning into the vehicle somewhat suspicious as well. He could be one of the two men photographed at the corner of Main and Houston as the presidential limo cruised past and then photographed walking across the grass area of Dealey Plaza toward the knoll minutes after the shooting.

    FWIW.

  3. Quote taken from another thread:

James--have you seen the Bartholomew article yet? They contain everything including the kitchen sink, I am trying to enlist curious sifters who might lend a critical eye. (Nathaniel Heidenheimer)

    Nathaniel,

I honestly think there is not a lot to be critical about. A splendid piece without doubt. UT has indeed provided many Intelligence recruits and Johnson sourced a lot of his 'people' from there including Busby and Wallace.

Connections like Cecil Bernard Smith to George Wing is very interesting indeed although I have not been able to source details other than ownership of the Rambler. For this Rambler to be the one in Dealey Plaza, I submit there is a cut-out involved and securing his/her name is the breakthrough needed.

Having said that, one of the people under-researched in my opinion is Howard Burris. During the early 1960's, he and his wife Kathy were prominent in fashionable society mixing with the elite of Texan beau monde. Crossing paths with the likes of De Mohrenschildt is not out of the question.

  4. Roger Craig described a 1959 Rambler as the vehicle that picked up a man who resembled Lee Harvey Oswald on Elm. This event happened at 12:40 about 10 minutes after the shooting, according to the clock on top of the TSBD. A photo by Jim Murray confirms this.

A 1959 Rambler was photographed in the carpark near the railroad tracks just a few minutes after the shooting. Could this be the same vehicle that Craig saw and is it the same vehicle investigated by Richard Bartholomew?

  5. "Louis Gaudin, the government's air traffic control specialist at

Redbird [sic] airport...recalled observing three men in business suits

    board a Comanche-type aircraft at about 2:00 p.m. on November 22, head

north, then return with only two occupants, where they were met by a

Dallas policeman named Haake." (Nathaniel Heidenheimer)

I gather this Dallas cop was Kenneth H. Haake; a pretty interesting character as he was involved in some action packed arrests during the 1950's. His father was Navy man Jack Haake.

  6. Robert and Nathaniel,

I seriously doubt the Rambler Keesee stole is the one connected with the JFK assassination. The problem however is that like most things related to this murder, confusion reigns supreme. I don't believe I have ever seen any solid evidence that connects the Rambler to Ruth Paine. She drove a 1955 Chevrolet which she was photographed with standing in front of her garage.

We have the Rambler that Richard Bartholomew investigated and we also have another 1959 Rambler wagon owned by Howard K. Davis. Gerry Hemming has spoken about this one here on the forum. To add to the mix, Rip Robertson also owned a 1959 Rambler wagon.

The Bartholomew article is an excellent piece indeed but if George Wing did own the vehicle in November of 1963, and this was the vehicle on-site, what role did Wing play as he wasn't the driver according to the description given by Roger Craig?

If I remember correctly, in a related article penned by Bartholomew, the possibility is raised that Wing was present on No Name Key in October of 1962 and a photograph was produced in support. The man in question isn't Wing but it still leaves this curious individual with unknown connections.

  7. Mark,

Bizarre is right. The mention of the Rambler also caught my attention. I have no idea though what model it was.

There was also the case of Melvin Russell Blair, holder of the Distinguished Service Cross with Oak Leaf Clusters, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantryman's Badge and various other army decorations. In 1958, Blair tried to rob the Treasurer of the Del Monte Lodge at Pebble Beach in a kind of feeble attempt.

When he was arrested he produced a letter vouching for his character signed by Charles Willoughby.

  8. Not that this relates directly to the assassination of John Kennedy, but it might reflect on a level of covert operator who is dirtied deliberately then dangled openly to see who he attracts. Then again, he might just be completely nuts.

Case in point is Bobby Joe Keesee, a Korean War veteran, winner of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. In 1962, Keesee steals a light plane in Key West and flies it to Cuba. At this point, Keesee is listed as absent without leave from the army at Ft. Huachuca in Arizona. Also aboard the plane is an alleged CIA man named Buddy Carson and a Latino named Jose. Keesee dropped them in the jungle about 40 miles from Havana where they were supposedly going to act as spies for the United States. Keesee takes off and is subsequently forced to land where he is captured by Cuban authorities. Keesee claims asylum but the Cubans hand him over to U.S. officials thinking that his name is Bobby J. Gish. The Americans know him as Bobby Joe Keesee.

Keesee is then charged with transporting a stolen car (a Rambler) from California to Texas; the first of 153 Federal charges.

Keesee claims that he was encouraged by CIA man Buddy Carson to do this and to also cash several bad checks at military reservations across the United States. Carson claimed this was to forge the reputation of an army fugitive which would allegedly help him if captured by the Cubans.

In 1969, Keesee was in the Middle East. He was supposedly visiting Israel but on a sight seeing excursion into Jordan, he was seized and held hostage for 36 hours. No other details there.

In 1970, Keesee hi-jacked a light plane out of Thailand and forced the Thai pilots to fly him to a beach in North Vietnam. He leaves his passport on board and makes a dash for the jungle as the plane comes under fire from a village close by. Keesee is captured and interrogated by the North Vietnamese where his front teeth are knocked out and his fingernails are pulled out. They think he is a spy. He was then released with 107 military POW's which included John McCain.

In 1974, Keesee was held in San Diego on Federal charges that he 'aided, abetted, induced and caused' the kidnapping of U.S. Vice Consul John Patterson who was beaten to death shortly after his kidnapping. His remains were found in the Sonora Desert.

Like I said, he could just be nuts.

  9. - When the CIA director was asked about their interests in Oswald after his defection, he said that, “It would have been considered a Navy matter.” (Bill Kelly)

This got me thinking about defecting Americans and their relationship to Intelligence agencies. In 1960, two NSA code clerks based at Fort Meade defected to Russia. Their names were Bernon F. Mitchell and William H. Martin. Before their joining the ranks of NSA they served together in the Navy.

Just after their defections, NSA Director Lt. Gen. John Samford retired citing health problems. He was replaced by the then Director of Naval Intelligence, Laurence Frost.

Interesting to note that Mitchell and Martin travelled to New Orleans and then on to Mexico. From there they went to Cuba where they boarded a Soviet fishing boat out of Havana. (familiar locations for assassination researchers)

  10. a strange set of reaction to a good question. Who was Lee Harvey Oswald? Writing a person off for asking the hard questions is hardly the way to finding out, or getting people involved/interested. Surely there's no value in such snobbery. For those who ridicule this 'hostess' person: who was LHO?

There was no snobbery at all. This woman had no interest in who LHO was and became quite irked that the conversation had become political. Many folk are like this. Head in the sand types who refuse to think outside the square. They have no opinions on subjects that matter but can speak for hours on Paris Hilton or who should be voted off 'Australian Idol'.

Case in point was the Australian of the year for 2006; Professor Ian Frazier and his research into cancer. A brilliant career finally recognized but virtually unknown in the wider community. It's almost unbelievable that a society exists where the shallow and insignificant world of celebrities can sell more copy than scientific achievement.

In the words of Leonie Kramer, "Australia is the only country in the world where the word academic is regularly used as a term of abuse."

    James

  11. And the burning question is........what was his theory? (Mark Stapleton)

He was having an each way bet on the CIA or Mafia.

BTW, the dinner party assassination discussion came to a screeching halt when the hostess asked who Lee Harvey Oswald was. After a moment of stunned silence, she directed the conversation back to Brad and Angelina.

    James

  12. Do you know if that is the same 'Maria Del Carmen' referenced in the Warren Report as Carlos Bringuier's sister? (Lee Forman)

:) To be honest, Lee, I wouldn't think so but I don't really know.

Maria del Carmen worked for the Mexican Treasury Department. CIA guy Barney Hidalgo claimed she was a member of the Communist Party in Mexico.

The question is, was she a part of that alleged cell which included Factor, Wallace and the young Cuban man?

  13. The two mechanics/pilots present at White Rock Airport during the later half of 1963 were John Miller and Hoss Thornton.

If any of the Dallas residents were motivated enough, tracking down the families (I think Miller is dead, not sure about Thornton), and posing some questions may bear fruit. As Lee pointed out, Texas has a plethora of small airports perfect if one wishes a low profile.

In addition to this, I have been unsuccessfully trying to find an alleged connection between Jimmy Els and David Ferrie. Els was a Dallas local who flew a small plane and may have had an association with David Ferrie. Els flew out of White Rock on a regular basis. Els' plane was co-owned with a character named Jimmy Choate.

  14. Thanks for the heads up, Mark.

It does amaze me how many Aussies seem to be into the assassination of John Kennedy. I was at a dinner party recently where one of the guests, a local Motorola sales Rep, was a very keen student of the case. He passed the comment that a lifetime of research into the assassination is barely enough. I had to agree with him.

    James

  15. Lee,

I'm not sure if this relates to the events of Dallas but in October of 1968, Factor grabbed his 4 year old son and took off into the hills of southeastern Oklahoma. A murder warrant had been issued for Factor's arrest after his wife, Juanita, had been found strangled and buried in a shallow grave.

Even though Factor had lost a leg due to a rattlesnake bite, suffered diabetes and was subject to epileptic seisures, he had managed to escape bloodhounds, airplanes and hundreds of searchers. How this drama ended, I don't know.

As to Ruth Ann, there is the possibility that this is Maria del Carmen. If you Google her and Richard Case Nagell you will find some interesting information.

    FWIW.

  16. One of the methods used by the Codebreakers was to search for the coincidence of occurance of encrypted words in relationship to the coincidence of occurance in a native language. Perhaps we would do well to observe the factual coincidences that surround the people mentioned above. (Jim Root)

For some historical context, here is Gardner talking about codes in natural language. Smart cookie this guy.
