  1. Well, James, don't leave us hanging in suspense. What can you tell us about César Morales Meza aka 'El Pelirrojo' that makes it "most interesting"?

Unfortunately, Tim, nothing that can be proved and I know how you hate speculation.

Let's just say that I have heard the names David Atlee Phillips and 'El Pelirrojo' in the same sentence.

  2. The man Oswald contacted in the Cuban Embassy in Mexico was described as a dark man with reddish hair. According to Marino the man’s name was Cesar Morales Mesa. (George Bollschweiler)

Does anyone know if this is the same man as Cesar Moralles Meza, aka 'El Pelirrojo'?

    James

    James,

it is César Morales Meza aka 'El Pelirrojo' he was identified by Oscar Marino.

    George

    Thanks, George. Most interesting.

  4. I have been researching Canadian born adventurer Bert Levy. I have the standard stuff but have hit a brick wall when it comes to his relationship with Robert Emmett Johnson.

If anyone can help here, it would be greatly appreciated.

  5. James, the Robertson look-alike photo comes from Altgens, correct? And the Robertson official photo comes from Gray Lynch's book. I noticed the other day that there is a Croft photo taken of Houston and Main within seconds of the Altgens photo. I don't recall...have you ever done a comparison of Rip (Lynch) Rip? (Altgens) and Rip?? (Croft)? What about Conein?, pakse base man? and Barnes??? Sorry if you've already done this...

P.S. According to Pictures of the Pain, Croft still has his color originals. Does anyone know if anyone has tried to purchase them?

    Pat,

Of all the images I have that were snapped at the corner of Main and Houston, Altgens is the best. The others either show the men in question masked or just too blurry. I hope one day be able to share some interesting images of Robertson and O'Hare (Bishop). I think a lot of questions will be answered.

My research into Pakse Base Man has suggested that his name is James Bill Lair. Lair was not in Dealey Plaza. Others say the PBM identification is incorrect so I guess we will agree to disagree. The Conein possible is someone who does indeed require some serious looking at.

As to Croft, securing his color originals would be very exciting. I have no idea if anyone has tried.

  6. Re James' comments that through photographic studies a gold nugget may emerge, I reiterate that I think a photographic comparison cannot possibly establish anyone's presence in DP. If a photographic likeness to an identied person leads to research that may in fact establish that person's whereabouts on November 22nd through other sources, well I guess that is another matter. (Tim Gratz)

That's it in a nutshell. Photographic material captured in Dealey Plaza is only part of the process. This is why I have stated that finding out where someone like Conein was on the 22nd of November is vital. Maybe we won't ever be able to do that as I suspect no official record will show him to be in Dallas but that doesn't mean we should give up. Hence, I don't see the point in dismissing what I consider to be evolving evidence.

As to Robertson, I have done some research on comments he made to several mercenaries while in the Congo and they are damning indeed. In this case we have no official documentation or do we have people who want to go on record but in my mind, the matter is settled. Others can disregard this and that is their choice.

Like the catch phrase for a television show once stated, 'the truth is out there'.

  7. Given the forum format where the concept is to toss around ideas with like minded individuals, I think speculation is fine as long as it is specified as such. Scanning the extant photographic material for clues I also believe to be productive as it just might unearth a gold nugget. It seems to me to do nothing does not make a lick of sense.

I live in hope of a true smoking gun making its way into the public domain but until then we are all trying to assemble a jigsaw puzzle with many missing pieces.

IMO, the so-called look-a-likes we seriously need to look at are Lucien Conein. Determining where he and a Laos based rifle team were on the 22nd of November is vital. To also establish the whereabouts of Rip Robertson and Col. Bishop (aka John Adrian O'Hare) is also essential.

I would also like to add this guy below.

    FWIW.

  8. Just who was/is Gene Cowden Walker. interesting last name.. (Stephen Turner)

    Hi Steve,

I too was interested in Gene Cowden Walker. I did track Walker down and wrote to him about 18 months ago. He has yet to reply.

If you are interested in following it up, email me and I can give you his address.

    Cheers,

  9. Good stuff, Greg.

Lyle Stuart was a very interesting character. I am sure you are aware that he published some controversial books including 'M-26, The Biography Of A Revolution' by newsman Robert Taber. This book portrayed Castro as the hero and the United States as the villain.

There was also 'Inside The FBI' by Norman T. Ollestad which was very critical of Hoover and the way the FBI was run. Ollestad was subsequently expelled from the FBI alumni.

And let's not forget 'The Anarchist Cookbook' by William Powell. This was a book for revolutionaries with a guide to sabotage, murder and mayhem.

  10. Hey TG? What? Now you can possibly buy the idea that Shelly, Lovelady and Frazer could have been part of the plot too? (Bill Kelly)

I post the following as a curiosity more than anything.

First off, I don't believe for one moment that Truly and Shelley were in on the plot. Having said that, they were well acquainted with each other beyond work hours. Both men were heavily involved with dog breeding and showing dating back to the early 1950's.

  11. Hunter Thompson on Nixon:

"If the right people had been in charge of Nixon's funeral, his casket would have been launched into one of those open-sewage canals that empty into the ocean just south of Los Angeles. He was a swine of a man and a jabbering dupe of a president. Nixon was so crooked that he needed servants to help him screw his pants on every morning. Even his funeral was illegal. He was queer in the deepest way. His body should have been burned in a trash bin." (Tim Carroll)

    Tim,

Thompson was only warming up with that dispatch.

He gets into top gear here:

"Richard Nixon has never been one of my favorite people anyway. For years I've regarded his existence as a monument to all the rancid genes and broken chromosones that corrupt the possibilities of the American Dream; he was a foul caricature of himself, a man with no soul, no inner convictions, with the integrity of a hyena and the style of a poison toad. The Nixon I remembered was absolutely humorless; I couldn't imagine him laughing at anything except maybe a paraplegic who wanted to vote Democratic but couldn't quite reach the lever on the voting machine."

An exquisite rendering of a most loathsome creature.

  12. Hi James,

I have no doubt that Witt, Novel or some of the others mention are TUM. Novel PSE test were

interesting at the time but also very boring. I have copies of these PSE in deep files if that tells

you something:) Capehart was photograph down in Mexico as well as in the plaza. He may have

taken part in the demostration up in Canada, but I will have to recheck as my memory is somwhat

fuzzy. Capehart was connected to Howard Hughes? (John Woods)

    Hi John,

Capehart worked on the Howard Hughes deep sea research vessel, the Glomar Explorer. This I believe this was Project Jennifer where a soviet sub was raised.

BTW, not to redirect this thread, but that demonstration in Canada, was that the one Russell McLarry was involved in?

    James

  13. It looks like Witt. You don't know where the photo was taken? (Ron Ecker)

    Hi Ron,

I don't know anything about the photo. It was released by the HSCA I believe and they too wanted to know who it was. This photo was coupled with another of a younger guy with blonde hair. I'll try to dig that one up.

    James

    Hi James,

The photographs taken in 1978 of Witt were taken in conjunction for an article. The images were exposed

at his work place and Witt was upset and decline the interview. This sequence was published in T.C.I.

    john

    Hi John,

Nice to see you posting. Thanks for the photo information. BTW, the blonde guy mentioned before is Claude Barnes Capehart. You and I have discussed him before.

    Cheers,

    James

  14. Duke was never in the TSBD, original configuration. Robert Cutler

made it possible for a group of local researchers to enter the

building in the 70s and study the building for several hours. Attached

is a photo of me in the "sniper nest". The elevator was in this same

corner of the building, but did not go higher than the office floors. (Jack White)

    Great photo, Jack.

That looks like a very awkward spot for a right handed shooter to fire from.

  15. Hi Steve,

That is most interesting. I have not seen that report before.

It might be interesting to note that a young man by the name of Fermin Degoicoechea (aka George Perril), Bay of Pigs veteran and one who was critical of JFK and what happened during the invasion, came to Dallas from New York City during September of 1963 just after the DRE members clashed with members of the FPCC. He then attended the University of Dallas at the same time Sarita Odio was there.

Fermin did travel back to NYC at the beginning of November 1963 for a student conference. He also had friends that travelled up from Miami, Juan Manuel Salvat and Joaquin Martinez de Pinillos.

Fermin was the DRE Secretary for Military Affairs who secured weapons through J. T. Masen.

I started to research Fermin several months ago. I tracked him down in Miami and tried to organize an interview only to discover that he had passed away about 2 months ago.

I wonder if Fermin was the one Elizabeth Cole heard on the telephone?

  16. There is no evidence that a bullet hit the Stemmons sign, and the sign did not quickly disappear (as it might have done if there were indeed bullet damage). The sign was still there at the time of the WC reenactment. The sign was removed at some point in time after that.

This is the best image of the Stemmons sign I could find post assassination. I remember reading somewhere that the bit which was allegedly struck was in fact the lower 'Texas 77' section. I can't find that reference for now.

  17. Whatever MacDonald did or didn't do, he was seen as a hero amongst the department. He was awarded with several citations as seen below; Jesse Curry and Marie Tippit in attendance.

BTW, in one of TMWKK episodes, I seem to remember an interview with one of the Dallas cops who admitted that he was the one who punched Oswald in the head during the alleged arrest scuffle.

Does anyone remember this guy's name?

    FWIW.

  18. I was wondering if any forum members in the course of their research on Logue have come across any information that connects him to the Flying Tigers and or William Pawley?

In March of 1967, Logue sponsored Brig. Gen. David Lee Hill (ex Flying Tiger) for speaking engagements in Dallas; the topic was to do with Vietnam and where things were going wrong.

I am just curious as to what Logue's interest in this would have been.

    Any information would be appreciated.

  19. Just like the "Eddy Bayo" name screw-ups, and which remain today "uncorrected" on Spartacus, and continues within many other personal postings -- nothing ever changes. I can only guess that: Some folks either have difficulty with reading English, or that ego prevents them from admitting error, and thereafter opt to make corrections ??!! (Gerry Hemming)

As to the incorrect namings on Spartacus, they have remained uncorrected because of time constraints. I have been compiling the list of corrections required and redoing the captions. John has been very busy with other things which included his recent trip to Dallas. When his time frees up, we can upload all the changes.

I can read English to a reasonable level and I have no problem admitting error - in fact, I am very good at it having had considerable practise. :tomatoes

    Onward!
