We only have Enyart's word for this. Please give a citation for your statement that Enyart was 'accosted' by two officers at gunpoint 'AS HE WAS LEAVING THE PANTRY'. Or are you relying solely on Enyart's story, parts of which were challenged by one of his friends.
Mel,
With no disrespect I fail to see why we should be able to take Eugene Thane Cesars account of his actions at face value, while not doing the same for Scott Enyart, a highschool student at the time.

The best I can get is that he was interviewed by the Dalla Morning news in 1997.
Was it the same type of camera used by Mary Moorman or someone in DP?

Ian Griggs article 'The paper bag that never was' pretty much sums this matter up. It's in Ians book 'No case to answer' or available online here.

Anthony,
John Geraghty here. Am I correct in saying that you are Irish, I heard you on Pat Kenny after Mark Felt outed himself. I'm a student myself, yours was one of the first books I read on the assassination while studying for exams.
A question on Jim Lessar, do you think he would be willing to fire off a copy of the philips material?
If so do you have contact details for him?
Any help would be great.
All the best,
John Geraghty

Hi bill,
I'm a dublin man myself. Your right donegal is lovely, though a bit breezy. I'm not sure where i'm going this Summer, I am on the lookout for an internship somewhere, possibly sixth floor museum or the JFK library. If there were organisations working solely on the JFK assassination or MLk for that matter i would be willing to come over and help out part time or full time. I think it would be a good a way as any to spend the summer.

Bill,
It might be worth setting up a website detailing the goals of the grand jury. It would be a point from which to start, where people could learn more about the project. As I have learned in the past people won't sign a petition if its just posted on a forum, a certain amount of badgering is required. I posted a petition up around democrat forums and other sites who are interested in political conspiracies and wrongdoing.
You seem to have a few friends with a bit of sway, perhaps use them a bit more for the public relations side of things. Well done on the King grand jury project.
If I were more well versed in web design I would offer my services, ut alas I have no talent in that area.
See organisations such as www.makepovertyhistory.com and www.greenpeace.com who use systems whereby people can simply enter their name and a prewritten email will be sent to their congressman/senator petitioning them about whatever.
I'm from Ireland so I have no such representative to write to.
If I can be of any assisstance in any way just ask. I am considering working in the states this Summer, If you have a reasonably organised network I would love to contribute part time to help out.
Where are you based?

Just to add my two cents. I also got the impression that the coup leader was Che Guevara. Slowly making my way through the book. It is so far an excellent read and comes highly reccommended by a few people I know. One thing that keeps repeating in my mind is that I can't believe the kennedys would take such a bold step clse enough to the election, surely they would wait for a second term to try anything with Cuba, given they were burned once.
I'm keeping an open mind with regard to the book, as I find it hard to believe that both Harry Williams and Dean Rusk are lying for some unknown reason.
No questions as of yet, but I'm sure I will find a few by the end!
Regards

Seeing as the threads on songs and tv shows related to the assassination in some way were such a success in compiling information I thought that it might be a good idea to compile some sort of a list of websites that contain audio and visual files, including photograhs relating to the assassinations of Robert kennedy, john F kennedy and Martin Luther King junior.
The files may be original recordings of these men, files relevant to the assassination itslef or interviews with those who have investigated the assassinations in any way.
This is a fairly broad topic, I think it would be useful to pool resources in this way to come up with even a small online database of where to look for audio and visual information.
If anyone has a link to any of JFK's speeches in Ireland I would be most grateful.
If you wish to upload footage or audio you do this for free on http://youtube.com and post the link here or on your webpage if you have one.
The best are the JFK presidential and white house tape libraries, They are definitive for speechs, phonecalls etc.
I shall get the ball rolling with a few obvious ones.

Hi Tony,
Welcome to the forum.
I was at canterbury, but didn't have a chance to meet you.
I look forward to hearing your perspective on the assassination as historians generally stay away from the whole topic, I know my American history lecturer does.
All the best

I think your right john. Apologists for not releasing documents try to lessen this by saying that it was less than 1% of the warren commissions documentation, thus leading people to believe that it was really nothing.

I'm not sure whether this ground has been covered but, I came accross a small bit of information while looking at Ron Pataky's profile on Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/A3N6S...1157309-1677722
In it he describes one of his books "HELP! I'M BEING HELD A PRISONER IN A RANSOM NOTE FACTORY!" as having received a great review from William F Buckley junior. Is it possible that Pataky was friendly with Buckley, who trained with the CIA in 1951 and was sent to mexico city under howard hunt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_F._Buckley,_Jr.
An interesting if somewhat tenuous link here.
There are some interesting quotes from Buckley on the wikipedia page, which include a debate with gore Vidal
"At one point Vidal called Buckley a “crypto-Nazi”, to which Buckley replied, “Now listen, you queer, stop calling me a crypto-Nazi or I'll sock you in your goddamn face, and you'll stay plastered.”

Conspiracy theorists have been successfully smeared as being paranoid. Those on the left wish to avoid this label. They would rather see themselves as romantic revolutionaries. They know that they are unable to change the system. However, that does not really matter. As long as the remain intellectually respectable, they are more than happy to earn a good living criticizing the failings of capitalism.
Good points John, this too can be said of historians, who don't want to be seen as in any way extremist by their peers. They take the assassination in an all too broad perspective and do not take a detailed look into the circumstances surrounding the murder.
I hate to admit it but had I not become interested in the assassination I would have become one of the left leaning romantics as seen above.

Hi mel,
I find it a pity that i am not well versed enough in the RFK assassination, nor the MLK assassination to engage you in any real debate.
With regard to your statements about eyewitness testimony, i fully agree that in a scenario such as the one that played out in the Ambassador it would prove difficult to find very accurate testimony from witnesses in a very crowded and condensed area. This plays badly for all witnesses, both those used as examples of conspiracy and for Sirhans guilt.
Yesterday i listened to a speech larry teeter gave in 2003, giving a reasonable overview of his case for conspiracy, given that he only had an hour to do so. I don't know whether you have covered the hypnosis element of the case or not, but what do you make of the fact that psychologists and hypnosis experts deemed Sirhan programmable. There were instances where Sirhan was under hypnosis and was asked to write about RFK and he simply reproduced what was written in his diary 'RFK must die etc', in another instance he was told to climb the bars of his cell like a monkey, in both instances he had no recollection of who had told him what to do and had no memory of doing it.
Teeter also raised the point of people trying to railroad his investigation by opening him up to perjury and trying to set him up. In one instance he details how two men arranged to meet him so that they might give him information on an FBI agent in return for the film rights to Sirhans life.
I apologise for my lack of specific information, I have only articles, soundbites and a small Melanson book at my disposal at this moment in time.
I just bought William Bradford Huie's book on the King case, any reviews? Post it in the MLK section if you like and i can read it there.
All the best

Hi Mel,
Nice to see you here again.
Did you by any chance see a programme made by the discovery channel titled 'Unsolved history'? Don Moldea and others attempt to recreate the assassination using actors that fit Ueckers, Sirhans and Kennedys measurements. They use a red beam on top of a gun to depict at what angle either Cesar or Sirhan would have had to have been standing at in order to make all the wounds to Kennedy.
The kitchen was remade in a studio, with exact measurements. It was excellently made.
They also conducted an experiment whereby they let actors walk into the Kitchen (they were unaware of the scenario about to unfold) and stand in the exact spot the actual witnesses were and played out 2 scenarios, 1. The Sirhan firing alone scenario, 2. Sirhan and Cesar both firing. The purpose of the experiment was to test peoples on the spot reactions with regards to the origin and number of the shots.
Most heard only three or four shots in both scenarios. Nobody noticed the actor playing Cesar taking three shots at kennedy as he was right beside him and there was a considerable amount of people who did not realise that there was a security guard or policeman in the room!
If you can I suggest that you try to obtain a copy. It is an excellent piece of recreationist History.
Alas they come away with no definite answer, they rule that either scenario was possible depending on Kennedys positioning, though Cesar looking the liklier option, having factored in witness, balistics and forensics evidence.
All the best

Francesca,
Being a big Garrison fan myself I loved the article in the echo, I read it in Gatwick after Canterbury. I remember reading a detail of it and then looking for a footnote, which will only be punblished in the next installment. You sure know how to keep your audience keen.
Great article all in all, can't wait for the next one.
