I think it is quite shameful how some governments have acted with regard to aid for the tsunami and other needy areas around the world. ierland gave €20million, while the Irish population gave €50million.

Africa is still far more needy than asia after the tsunami. The tsunami is just a hotter news story than people dying in africa. 30,000 people a day die from diorehea.

This is a great chance to capitalise on peoples generosity and try to encourage people to consistantly give to charity on the scale they have done for the tsunami. awareness is the key.

In Dublin where I live all the major charities (Goal, World Vision, Red Cross, Oxfam) recruit people to work on the streets asking for a minute of peoples time to sign up to give €12 a month towards preventing aids. Most people dont bat an eyelid at these people, they know it is for charity but they do not want the inconvenience of having to hear about suffering half way accross the world.

Just look at the bestsellers list, there are not many books on the poor state of Africa today, but there are plenty on political corruption as this is a more glamorous story.

God help us all, and i do mean that.

in the sixties j.edgar hoover had a list of people to be interned in the event of a national security, Martin luther king being one of them, imagine the list the bush administration has and what other measures they would introduce, i fear to think what would happen if there was another attack on the US. People dont know how close america was to civil war in the sixties, if people are held under martial law for even a week all hell could break loose. It may sound strange but it is a possibility.

Take a look at the patriot act. This violation of human rights was sitting on the shelves waiting for a national emergency to come along so that there would be an excuse to give the government new powers.

Richard Nixon thought of setting up an intelligence agency for the white house, is anyone aware if bush has a similar entity? if he does then there is no doubt that america could be beyond repair.

i tend to agree with Mr.Hoggart, I make a point to keep myself informed on what things are happening and why. Hidden agendas lurk everywhere in the US. People make decisions in boardrooms that will effect millions of people accross the waters. A lot of the time people take decisions purely on economic grounds and fail to look at humanitarian implications for their actions. They see figures of raw materials coming from countries, they do not see footage of people who scrape a living together just to feed themselves or even worse as is the case with Africa people die because they are exporting a huge proportion of their food.

The title not only refers to holding shares in companies but also acting as consultants for large corporate clients, also ministers should act with the rest of the cabinet while deciding on who to hand government contracts to.

It has become apparent to me that in the United States at the moment, holding public office is nothing more than insider trading. Finding secrets n future government economic policies which affect the whole country.

This practise is not restricted to the US, in ireland in recent years there have been a number of tribunals investigating politicians taking money from investors so that they may rezone land for industrial development which the businessmen have purchased from farmers for peanuts.

I personally do not believe that politicians should be allowed to hold shares in companies while in office. Politicians salaries should be enough.

There has yet to be a film dealing properly with the life of Adolf Hitler, he is a difficult person to capture both in a script and on film. Many have tried to cast somebody as him or tried to work a character that revolved around him.

This is the one area of major history that needs a good film, none to date have properly captured hitler.

There have only been one off films about world war two, usually about specific battles or personal plights (Saving Private Ryan, Bridge on the River Kwai, A Bridge Too Far), perhaps a trilogy would properly capture the war as has only been done before by the great documentary series 'the world at war' narrated by laurence olivier.

The trick to a trilogy of this kind would be to keep the list of characters at a minimum and distinguishable so it would most likely have to follow the heads of state, prominant generals and possibly cover the growth and influence of the military industrial complex.

I read Philip Melansons book on the RFK assassination and it is quite fascinating stuff, it seems to be nearly as shabby a case as the JFK assassination. Hypotists have been denied access to sirhan for years now, hypnosis could awaken some of his memories. I know this sounds wacko but as we have all found out over the last few years of research it is very possible that sirhan was hypnotized, hypnotism of this kind was in its infancy so another shooter, possibly two had to carry out the actual job while Sirhan was left to burn. The CIAs leading hypnotist once confessed to a girl that he had hypnotised Sirhan, he was more bragging than confessing.

with regards to the jfk assassination i think there is a lot of paranoia and rightly so but sometimes people are so skeptical that they simply brush people off as disinfo agents etc. i know a few people that have been warned due to the field of research they are in and that would make me more cautious as to what areas I would look into. i suppose because im only 19 i havent really experienced any real confrontation as a result of research. i suppose i will only find out when im denied a j1 visa for the states!

one of his sons is named david hunt, i only assume that he lives in d.c., i have 2 possible addresses for him. from the information in mark lanes book 'plausible denial' howard hunt no longer has a great relationship with his children. perhaps they may shed some light on him, even when he dies we may find if CIA people come to the house to take away documents etc.

We recently had a thread describing the people that we wish to contact regarding the case, I know John has contacted people such as G Robert Blakey, I think as a new years resolution we should all pick at least one person to write to and attempt to get some information. As every year goes by these people are getting older and there is no telling how long or short they will live. I think 2005 should be the year in which we get some serious testimonies on paper.

I myself sent out a few 'christmas cards' to people that I wish to contact and I am currently 'hunting down a big fish.

much has been written of guy bannister and LHO sharing a corner space of a building on 544 camp street and 531 lafayette street but what is not known is that this is part of the newman building which was owned by none other than E.Howard Hunt.

In Craig Roberts book 'Kill Zone, a sniper looks at dealey plaza' which is an excellent book, he argues the point that the assassination would take place in either miami in early november or in dallas in late november. There could have been a plan to kill him in miami. Miami was trafficante and cuban ground, somersett talked with milteer about it and milteer, mileer hints at getting him in miami.

should this have been carried out in miami, this means that there could have been another patsy waiting to be set up. as i recall anthony summers in his book 'conspiracy' describes three men who were in russia around the same time as LHO and were possibly intelligence assets, if we can ascertain whether they were in miami at the time, we might be able to find whether there was a second patsy.

Personally I find it excellent, when i first joined there was so much to catch up on. A lot of the information discussed here such as elements of Cuban operations are not in any attainable books, so it is quite handy for everybody to cite their knowledge.
