Your tax dollars at work....Shanet ..........maybe change the carpet, paint, hang some pictures, but DENVER?....... Tim Gratz
This is only a clever way for the CIA to get rid of the motto: "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free." The move would obscure the replacement of the motto with one more appropriate. The CIA has requested that I solicit members of this forum to suggest a more appropriate motto for its new HQ. About five years ago, MI5,uped sticks to a plush new Thames-side H/Q. cost to taxpayers..£30,000,000...Still we wer'nt doing anything with the money. Anyway, I wrote suggesting they adopt a motto, The two I suggested were, "Infringing your civil rights since 1860"& "We know where you live".......... I recieved a letter back, thanking me for my "Interesting views" & assuring me they were "Under consideration" Bet it was'nt the only thing "Under consideration" Steve... Tim Gratz
The author's name is Ted Nancy but according to this Amazon review that may be a pseudonym for Jerry Seinfeld. There are now apparently four or five in the series. The following gives you an idea of what the books are like. You will see why the serious response you received to your letter reminded me of these books. He writes ridiculous letters to companies and government institutions which try to respond politely to him. A very funny premise. As the reviewer notes, the replies are often (unintentionally) funnier than the letters! I am a big fan of Seinfeld, and after reading the first installment of these books (See My Review) I had to get the second one. Seinfeld writes the introduction to the book, but after reading this second one, I am sure he is the true author. There is nobody else who could think of such wild and outlandish stories. Again, as America's favorite pen-pal, Ted L. Nancy writes to hotels, governments, cities, casinos, and the military. He wants to know if he can graft his big toe onto his nose, why his wife left him while he was in a coma..for another man in a coma, and if he can consummate his marriage in the administrative office of the chapel. He writes to hotels telling them he eats his mattress, and is a chronic kleptomaniac. He writes to casinos to ask if his band the "Fat Beatles" can perform and if he can stay in their hotel dressed as a bladder. As funny as Mr. Nancy's letters, the dead serious responses are often funnier. The casino manager things the "Fat Beatles" are a great idea, and the military would love to have his one man show about Yoko. This book is laugh out loud funny. It is best read aloud with family members or friends so they can join in on the fun. Buy this book and you will laugh very hard.
Guest Stephen Turner
Tim. That sounds a HOOT, I'll add it to my cart.. My wife once wrote to the Cambridge County Council ( Town Hall) asking them about rumours she had heard, concerning road widening near our home. a week later the work duly started. Imagine our surprise when two days into the sound of drills, hammers, lorries etc we recieved a return letter, assuring us that the council had no such plans. Tim Gratz
From the Seinfeld introduction to one of his books (wherein Seinfeld ridicules Nancy as an imbecellic moron) it seems quite clear he is indeed the author. He writes a plastic surgeon asking if he could have his big toe grafted on his face as a replacement nose. The surgeon replies, But how would you blow it? Shanet Clark
You all messing up my thread, dudes. Porter Goss wants to move the CIA out to damn Denver. You know, Denver, where the Pentagon isn't, where the Chinese Embassy isn't, where the White House and foreign consulates aren't, where foreign diplomats don't stay when they are in the United States. I think it is a fabulous idea, maybe the best one since hiring Dr. Sandoz. What will they leave behind by accident? The operational files for the 2004 election? William Colby's last will and testament? The Zapruder negative? Osama bin Laden's cell phone and dialysis machine? What will be left in the old corporate offices after the super flashy transition to new digs in Bronco Town? Robert Novak's security clearance? Ron Ecker
A move to the Mile High City makes sense. It's a lot easier to keep secrets at over 5,000 feet than it is down at sea level. Ron

Ron Ecker
It’s only the domestic operations division that is moving to Denver. It will be easier for them to keep an eye on us all from that altitude. The idea is “to develop new ways to operate under cover, including setting up more front corporations and working more closely with established international firms.” Yessir, new and more effective ways to meddle at home and abroad. Fits right in with the current U.S. policy of “spreading freedom” abroad and curtailing it here at home. (It also helps answer the question “Why do they hate us?”) http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nati...5200_cia06.html Ron
Guest Stephen Turner
You all messing up my thread, dudes. Sorry Shanet.. The post on M15, was at least semi-serious.I belive this move was a political statement, as for years the very existance of M15-M16,was officially denied. the move into this impossing building, seems to point to a change in goverment attitudes, they are no longer hiding the fact that were being"spied" upon. "Look upon me and despair" Steve.
