  1. Thanks for that David. The whole idea for re-upping this thread was mainly that I felt some good stuff was on here that shouldn't be forgotten. Also the material I've posted are [regarding Herbert Butterworth] was new for me, and I do believe that there is a right-wing element critical to the assassination, that has thus-far not been fully resolved. People who know me realize that to my detriment, but to my determination of "what really happened" and not being concerned about political correctness within the JFK research world, do not believe that Oswald fired any gun on November 22, 1963. So those who are within my viewpoint, realize that determining the person who shot JFK, however laughable the idea is to many, is no small thing. Bugliosi really ran with this angle in his tome on the JFK assassination indirectly, by trying to name every group, individual and clique ever mentioned in regards to the "conspirators." My personal view is when you narrow the field down to "serious candidates" for the shooter who fired the fatal shot; it is very, very narrow and could very well have been a political extremist on the right, with Ku Klux Klan ties. I also believe a member of Interpen is not unlikely. And I will leave it at that. And David I couldn't agree more with the Tea Party analogy. The following is something that I believe some people would post as a new topic, but I have never been very good at determining what is considered a pivotal by the body politic here on the Forum, but I certainly believe it deserves at the very least an honorable mention. In terms of automobile related events in Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963, no-one in my mind surpasses Lee Bowers, except Roger Craig. Bowers remarks about the cars scouting out the TSBD parking lot have always resonated for me, as well as his death a couple of years later, at any rate, I have noticed that to my knowledge, no one has really ever connected-the-dots on any of those vehicles. So to my surprise, just a couple of days ago, I was reading a fairly important book Jack Ruby - Wills & DeMaris and saw a line that mentioned that Bernard Weissman had a 1957 Ford, Lee Bowers had mentioned a 1957 Ford in his WC testimony, and last but not least Mrs. Gertrude Turner while at the Furniture Mart asserted that "Oswald" had been driving a 1957 or 1958 Ford. And Donald Wayne House ostensibly was driving a 1957 Ford on 11/22/63. I can add more but done really have any interest in doing so, unless there is some interest besides myself.

  3. The pre-paid long distance phone call to the TSBD took place just days before the JFK Assassination. I personally believe that not unlike the Oxnard call it is a great example of "a lead not thoroughly investigated." According to the operator it was a female caller. Also Bill the area being covered as to where the call originated included......Slidell, Louisiana. I'm sure that will be thought provoking it was for me. See CD 75 https://www.maryferr...7&relPageId=182 As far as why I believe it was not thoroughly investigated has to do with the National Security Agency's ability to trace leads of this sort. One thing that I have discovered about phone records after all these years, at least from appearances is that these FBI "assassination phone records" are worded in such a way as to make it appear that "we followed this lead as far as we can," which is a red-herring, the truth is they had access to phone records pretty much carte blanche as illustrated by the addendum on many of these documents that records can be provided as long as a subpoena duces tecum is provided. On a similar note the video of "Oswald or his doppleganger around 12:40 PM CDT on 11/22/63" is on film at least as far as was stated in Warren Commission interviews, and that video, at least at one time "was sitting in a vault at CBS headquarters." There is an old adage, "where there is a will, there is a way," but when it comes to deviating from the "Oswald did it" script, when it gets down to the point, more often than not it is "where there is a will, there is a won't."
  4. The only thing I can think of regarding Oswald phone records of mafia contacts would be Dutz Murret possibly around the time he was involved in giving his speech at the Jesuit College. But Dutz was pretty much just a bookie for Marcello, and being a family member would be just as pertinent as being part of organized crime. I agree that hitting the organized crime angle is pretty disappointing, as if that is the biggest facet of Oswald and Ruby. Here is one: May 8 1963 ( Wednesday) Oswald calls Marina at Irving BL 3-1628 from the Murretts's phone HU 8-4326 in New Orleans (26:773)
  5. JFK: Cinema Kills Films have a strange way to foreshadow events. Or at least, the human mind thinks this may be so. No one knows how or why, but the visual component of having a permanent record of a fictional incident collides across time and space, infrequently, with the reality of an unforgettable disaster, tragedy, or assassination. Raymond Shaw (Laurence Harvey) in the sniper's nest. In the case of the death of John F. Kennedy, chroniclers, researchers, and theorists have often pointed to the intriguing timing and plot of one specific motion picture, The Manchurian Candidate. The 1962 film directed by John Frankenheimer, stars Frank Sinatra (a close friend of JFK), Laurence Harvey, Janet Leigh and Angela Lansbury. The central plot of the film is that the son of a prominent, right-wing political family has been brainwashed to be an unwitting assassin for an international Communist conspiracy. The Manchurian Candidate was nationally released on Wednesday, October 24, 1962, at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis. It thus appeared thirteen months before JFK was killed in Dallas on November 22, 1963. There is a bit of the name game in the film. The actor Laurence Harvey played the assassin, which was "played" in the 1963 Dallas event by Lee Harvey Oswald. (Two names also used by Lee Harvey Oswald, allegedly, were O. H. Lee and Alek J. Hidell.) In another name game in The Manchurian Candidate, director Frankenheimer acknowledged the climax's connection with Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934 and 1956) by naming the Presidential candidate "Benjamin Arthur." Arthur Benjamin was the composer of the cantata "Storm Clouds" used in both versions of Hitchcock's film. But have other films been overlooked? One assassination researcher, Bruce Campbell Adamson, points out two other movies that need to be examined more closely than they have been in the past. Adamson writes that one is a Howard Hughes film, His Kind of Woman, that has a "story plot, which sounds like Oswald being set up in Mexico 'as a patsy.'" His Kind of Woman is a black-and-white 1951 film noir starring Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell. The film features supporting roles by Vincent Price, Raymond Burr, and Charles McGraw. The movie was directed officially by John Farrow and based on the unpublished story Star Sapphie by Gerald Drayson. (John Farrow, a filmmaker who was introduced to the craft by Robert Flaherty of Nanook of the North fame, went on in 1938, to marry Maureen O'Sullivan ~ who played Jane in several Tarzan films, including in Farrow's 1936 Tarzan Escapes. Farrow and O'Sullivan had seven children together, including Mia Farrow of Rosemary's Baby infamy.) Post-production on His Kind of Woman was rife with problems and Howard Hughes was dissatisfied with John Farrow's work, and a number of scenes were cut, added, and re-shot by the uncredited Richard Fleischer. Hughes also organized a screenwriting team which extensively rewrote the film and added many pages to the first script. Despite the turmoil surrounding the film's production, the film was commercially successful and has developed a cult following, despite its lack of widespread distribution in the decades since its release. The plot focuses on the down-on-his-luck, professional gambler Dan Milner (Robert Mitchum) who accepts a mysterious job for $50,000. He is told to take a charter flight to Morro's Lodge, an isolated Mexican resort, where he will receive further instructions. Milner is attracted to the only other passenger, Lenore Brent (Jane Russell). When he arrives, Milner finds that several guests at the luxurious Baja California resort have hidden agendas. He is disappointed to find that Lenore is the girlfriend of famous movie actor Mark Cardigan (Vincent Price). Milner overhears two guests, self-proclaimed author Martin Krafft (John Mylong) and a man named Thompson (Charles McGraw), planning something which he suspects involves him. When Milner confronts them, he is given $10,000 and told that someone is on his way to Baja to see him. Seemingly drunk Bill Lusk (Tim Holt) flies in, despite warnings of very dangerous storm conditions. Milner thinks he must be the contact, but when the two are alone, Lusk claims to be an undercover agent for the Immigration and Naturalization Service. He tells Milner that the U.S. government suspects that underworld boss Nick Ferraro (Raymond Burr), deported to Italy four years earlier, is scheming to get back into the country posing as Milner. The two men are a close physical match and Milner is a loner, so no one is likely to miss him. Krafft turns out to be a plastic surgeon. Meanwhile, Cardigan's wife Helen (Marjorie Reynolds) and his personal manager Gerald Hobson (Carleton G. Young) show up. She had gone to Reno to get a divorce, not really intending to go through with it, as she is still fond of her husband. Hobson also thinks it is a poor idea because Cardigan's film contract is expiring and the bad publicity would make it hard to get a new one. With her own plans ruined, Lenore confesses to Milner that she is really just a singer looking to hook a wealthy spouse. Milner shows his softer side when he helps unhappy newlywed Jennie Stone (Leslie Banning) by cheating at poker to win back her husband's gambling losses from investment broker Myron Winton (Jim Backus). Lusk sneaks into Thompson's room, but is caught and killed. Milner and Lenore stumble upon his body dumped on the beach. Milner is convinced that the dead man must have been telling the truth. That night, Thompson and his men take Milner to a newly arrived yacht. Milner is able to pass along a veiled plea for help to Lenore. She persuades Cardigan, who is tired of just pretending to be a hero, to help out. While the actor keeps the pursuing mobsters pinned down with his hunting rifle, Milner sneaks back onto the boat, knowing that the only way out of his mess is to deal with Ferraro once and for all. He is caught and brought to the crime lord. After killing two of the thugs and wounding and capturing Thompson, Cardigan mounts a rescue with the reluctant assistance of the Mexican police and a couple of the more adventurous guests. A gunfight breaks out aboard the boat, followed by a melee. Milner manages to break free and shoot Ferraro dead. The film has weird twists and turns that remind many of David Ferrie's involvement in the JFK conspiracy theories and his alleged links to Lee Harvey Oswald. The House Select Committee on Assassinations stated that "An unconfirmed Border Patrol report of February 1962 alleges that Ferrie was the pilot who flew Carlos Marcello back into the United States from Guatemala after he had been deported in April 1961 as part of the U.S. Attorney General Robert Kennedy's crackdown on organized crime." Another Robert Mitchum film has a very real link to the chain of personalities involved with the JFK assassination: The Wrath of God. The Wrath of God is an offbeat Western genre film released in 1972. It starred Robert Mitchum (as Father Oliver Van Horne), Frank Langella (as Tomas de la Plata), Rita Hayworth (as Senora de la Plata), Ken Hutchison (as Emmet Keogh), Paula Pritchett (as Native woman), and Victor Buono (as Jennings) and was directed by Ralph Nelson. (1) Paula Pritchett with director Ralph Nelson on location in Mexico. (2) Pritchett sharing a laugh with (l to r) Rita Hayworth, Robert Mitchum, and Ken Hutchinson. (3) Pritchett plays Chela, a mute indian girl who is about to raped by a gang of soldiers. However, she is saved by Hutchinson and Mitchum. Irish adventurer Emmett Keogh finds himself partnered with a hard-drinking priest named Van Horne in 1922 revolutionary Central America. Tricked into delivering guns by smuggler/con man Jennings, the three end up joining forces against despot Tomas de la Plata, who treats his subjects ruthlessly and who has a special hatred for priests. Van Horne, who seems to be a priest in costume only, decides to stand up to de la Plata and lead a revolt against him. The film marks the final screen appearance by Rita Hayworth, whose health worsened as Alzheimer's disease took hold. Adamson noted, "In 1972, Robert Mitchum was in a film with George de Mohrenschildt's daughter Alexandria in The Wrath of God. Mitchum was great in this film and Alexandra was an extra. Looking as good as Paula Pritchett, if not better." Alexandra de Mohrenschildt "G. H. W. Bush and de Mohrenschildt were all friends of Howard Hughes," wrote Adamson. "De Mohrenschildt claimed to be friends with Howard Hughes since 1938. Hughes was also from Houston and a Texas oilman and tied to George H.W. Bush." Tom Slick's name was in George de Mohrenschildt's address book, the same one that interested the Warren Commission so much, which also contained "George Poppy Bush." Alexandra's father, George de Mohrenschildt (April 17, 1911 – March 29, 1977) was a petroleum geologist and professor who befriended Lee Harvey Oswald in the summer of 1962 and maintained that friendship until Oswald's death two days after the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy. He had personal acquaintance with the Bush family, including George H. W. Bush, with whose nephew, Edward G. Hooker, he had been roommates at Phillips Academy at Andover, Massachusetts. He also had personal acquaintance with the Bouvier family, including Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, the president's wife, when she was still a child. His testimony before the Warren Commission investigating the assassination was one of the longest of any witness. Dresser Industries was a multinational corporation headquartered in Dallas, Texas, United States, which provided a wide range of technology, products, and services used for developing energy and natural resources. In 1928 the Wall Street investment-banking firm of W. A. Harriman and Company, Inc., converted the firm into a public company by issuing 300,000 shares of stock. H. Neil Mallon was selected as president and chief executive officer; holding that position until his retirement in 1962. George H. W. Bush got his start in the Texas oil business through his father's friend Henry Neil Mallon, the president of Dresser Industries. Mallon offered George his first job at Dresser subsidiary International Derrick and Equipment Company (Ideco), in Odessa, Texas. Brown Brothers Harriman had underwritten Dresser’s transition from a private company to a publicly traded one. Years later, George named a son after Mallon (Neil Mallon Bush). In 1953, Bush got money from Brown Brothers Harriman and, with partners Hugh and Bill Liedtke, formed Zapata Petroleum. By the late 1950s they were millionaires. Bush bought subsidiary Zapata Off-Shore from his partners and went into business on his own in 1954. By 1958, the new company was drilling on the Cay Sal Bank in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico. These islands had been leased to Nixon supporter and CIA contractor Howard Hughes the previous year and were later used as a base for CIA raids on Cuba. Tom Slick and Howard Hughes became such close friends that they had adjoining cottages at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Slick was Director on the Board for Dresser, until his death on October 6, 1962. In 1998, Halliburton merged with Dresser Industries, which included Kellogg. Prescott Bush and Tom Slick were directors of Dresser Industries, which is now part of Halliburton. http://copycateffect...nema-kills.html Addendum Robert: A couple of things. If you find the above interesting, you are cheating yourself if you do not go the URL because as they say "a picture is worth a thousand words." I recently corresponded with Loren for the first time and he corrected me that Loren never wrote any books or articles together with Ivan Sanderson, as I had incorrectly written. http://copycateffect.com also has features about Arlen Specter, Carl Oglesby and Gordon Novel.
  6. The term is confusing but think of "comparison dictionary" instead of "rhyming dictionary." The NSA putting Oswald and Ruby through a rhyming dictionary was to cross-reference their names through FBI and CIA files. Within NSA, the watch list was supervised by a CIA employee Mabel Hoover. see more google books page 178; A Farewell to Justice - Joan Mellen
  7. Steve Thomas, I believe, was the person who discovered the following passage. That Ruby and Oswald were both included in an NSA File. OSWALD IN NEW ORLEANS Oswald and Ruby targeted by the National Security Agency? On page 3 of a September 23, 1975 memo from Dan Dwyer and Ed Greissing of the Senate Select Committee to Paul Wallach, there is this paragraph: http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=1462&relPageId=100 II. It has been determined by the military task force, as a result of the NSA - watch list case study, that Oswald, Jack Ruby and Earl C. Ruby, Jack's brother, were targeted. An NSA spokesman reported that Oswald's name "appeared" in the rhyming dictionary on the day of the President's assassination. The following lines of inquiry should be considered: A. The dates of which Oswald and the Ruby brothers names were placed on the list. B. The amount of product. C. The information contained in the product. D. A determination if the product was forwarded to the FBI and CIA and how these agencies might have used the product in the investigation of the President's assassination. Obvious question..... Where is the followup response?

  9. Duke raises a very valid point, that given the circumstances of conducting a criminal investigation into the President of the United States, the professionalism, or rather the lack of professionalism as given by example, at times was on a par with something I would associate with a backwards country in a backwards time. Or maybe the best example I can think of is at the end of Casablanca when Bogart shoots the Nazi Major and the Vichy official looks at his troops and says, "Major Strasser has been shot.....round up the usual suspects." There are more or less three conclusions that can be drawn...either the WC and other investigative agencies were just that bad, didn't care or they knew the whole official version was a pile of crap, and didn't want the truth to come out. I don't even give the KGB/Cuban connection serious consideration, mainly because I don't believe anyone who was high up in the government ever believed that garbage either, and what my research led me to was a whole lot of nothing. Even if I die with the majority of American's thinking LHO did it. I am proud that from an early age I never bought that swill. And I've lived in Dallas all my life. You also might be surprised to know that in 54 years, I haven't met more than a dozen Dallasites that believe Oswald did it either.....Who would've thought that.
  10. Bill, see CD 962, https://www.maryferr...298&relPageId=6 there is only a paragraph specifically directed towards Bernardo Morales, but you should read the entire document as there are other factoids worth knowing, see "June 1963," and the Geneva Summit Conference. Bottom line is that Morales and Jose Menendez are cited as a pro-Castroite threat to President Kennedy. I would also imagine there are other references to him perhaps in Oswald's 201 file and some of the FBI 62-00000 series documents.
  11. If there was ever a lawyer who deserved some attention, especially so close to the 50th Anniversary, one would think Leon Jaworski might qualify. Below is a little food for thought. Chicago Tribune (IL) - December 10, 1982 Leon Jaworski, who helped force Nixon to quit in Watergate scandal WIMBERLY, Tex. -- Leon Jaworski, 77, the special prosecutor who helped force the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon, died Thursday while cutting wood at his ranch in the central Texas hill country he loved. "He apparently had a massive heart attack out in the woods" in the late afternoon, said Justice of the Peace Sonny Gold, who went to the scene and pronounced him dead of natural causes. He did not order an autopsy. "He was out with his ranch foreman, Jon Clayton, and they were cutting wood", Gold said. "John said he just keeled over. John tried to give him CPR [cardiopulmonary resuscitation], but he couldn't help him One of them was sawing and one was loading, I don't know which." MR. JAWORSKI had not returned to the courtroom since 1974, when he won the tape recordings that tried Nixon to the Watergate scandal. "You just don't argue another case after you've argued 'the United States versus Nixon' before the Supreme Court," he said. As special prosecutor, he asked the court to order Nixon to surrender subpoenaed tapes the embattled president had been withholding. Mr. Jaworski won a unanimous decision on July 24 and Nixon gave up the tapes. They revealed to Senate investigators the president's long involvement in the cover-up of the burglary at Democratic national headquarters by members of his re-election staff. They also showed myriad other "dirty tricks" by Nixon loyalists. Fifteen days later, Nixon resigned. THE TAPES battle was the apex of Mr. Jaworski's legal career, which began when he was certified to practice law in Texas at age 19 and spanned more than 55 years. He was a partner in Fulbright & Jaworski in Houston, one of the nation's five largest law firms. Although he considered Watergate his ultimate legal triumph, Mr. Jaworski also was: Chief of the war crimes trial section of the U.S. Army in Europe after Words War II. Special assistant U.S. attorney general [1962-65] selected by Robert Kennedy to prosecute Mississippi Gov. Ross Barnett for defying court orders to admit James Meredith to the University of Mississippi as the school's first black student. President of the American Bar Association. Special counsel [1977-78] for the House Judiciary Committee's investigation of influence peddling by South Korea among members of Congress. Mr. Jaworski said in an interview he felt the respect he won from the young people of America was a reward for his work on Watergate. "I NEVER CEASE having young people come up to me almost daily when I'm publicly exposed and coming, wanting to say hello, and they'll almost invariably say, 'I just want to thank you for what you did,' " he said. "It's the young people this has meant so much to, more so than the older people. To the younger people, it was really something where they felt matters had gotten rotten to the core.' Of Nixon, he once said: "What really was terrible in Nixon's case was the shoddy plotting that went on, and you know it was almost like an underground element meeting to determine what to do. "I think what really hurt him with the American people more than anything else was that he lied to them. He got up repeatedly and made statements that later turned out to be untrue. And I think this really toppled him." He was disappointed in the success through public appearances and books by such Watergate figures as John Ehrlichman, former White House chief of staff; John Dean, former White House counsel, and G. Gordon Liddy, break-in leader. "HERE'S A MAN like Liddy who's become a great person of celebrity, people running from all over everywhere who want to hear him, and he says a lot of things that don't even make a good sense," Mr. Jaworski said. Charles Colson, who turned into a public religious figure, won Mr. Jaworski's respect. "I think this man has probably turned out to be one of the best, if not the best of all, who paid his penalty, served his time and became a good citizen," he said. Mr. Jaworski grew up in rural Texas, on a farm near Seguin and later in Waco, one of four children of Joseph and Marie Jaworski, who died when he was 3. In his memoirs, he recalled his father as a man who spoke several languages, preached to evangelical congregations in German, played a variety of musical instruments and instilled in his children a desire to achieve Survivors include his wife, Jeannette; two daughters, Joanie Moncrief and Claire Draper; a son, Joseph; four grandchildren, a brother and a sister Robert: note in the book The Man Who Knew Too Much [1993 edition] p.799 see footnotes 28. Marshall of the Marshall Foundation and Ernest Cockrell of the San Jacinto Fund, both CIA conduits. Former Texas journalist “Lonnie” Hudkins at an interview on May 12, 1976 brought up Jaworski’s name and said “Jaworski had a Mexico City law partner who’s never been heard since [the JFK assassination]. The little hotel where Oswald stayed there, his Mexican partner was in the same block or building.” Charlton, “Bar’s President-Elect,” noted that Jaworski maintained offices in both Houston and Mexico. 29. 12. As of Tuesday January 8th at approximately 5:30 CDT, namebase.org is back up! Who woulda thought it.... Suggestion for the namebase folks. Add the name of Buford Lee Beaty.....Why? His Warren Commission Testimony gave a factoid that is of quite some interest to some of us; Specifically, a very compelling area of the assassination has to do with the Dallas Police Departments' Special Services Bureau, which interfaced with some different areas, Beaty's testimony revealed that Jack Ruby knew members of the SSB, located at Fair Park. Below is part of his testimony with a little hearsay at the url included, if your looking..... Testimony of Buford Lee Beaty Mr. Griffin. Do you know whether other people you worked with in the narcotics bureau might have attempted to use him ? Mr. Beaty. No, sir; I don't know. Mr. Griffin. Were you familiar with any narcotics investigation that ever took place with respect to Jack Ruby? Mr. Beaty. None. Mr. Griffin. Now how often would you say that you saw Ruby during the last 3 years? Mr. Beaty. Possibly, four, maybe five times. Mr. Griffin. What were the occasions for seeing Jack ? Mr. Beaty. Well, I saw him one time. I was working late nights and I saw him walking his dog after his joint closed down on Commerce Street, and I run into him on the street, and I go by his joint. You don't say hello and look around. You say hello. Mr. Griffin. Did Jack ever stop in and visit you while you were in your office at the police department? Mr. Beaty. Yes; that was the last time I saw him before the shooting. He came by---didn't particularly come to see me, but he just came to the office. Mr. Griffin. DO you recall about When that was? Mr. Beaty. No; it seemed like it was about a month before all this happened, something like that.. Mr. Griffin. Did he speak to anybody in the narcotics office ? Mr. Beaty. Yes; he talked to myself, and I believe Lieutenant Cornwall was in and out of the office, and Dan Asabell. Mr. Griffin. Do you remember what you all talked with Jack about? Mr. Beaty. Yes; he talked about a girl. He had a stripper down there. Let me think if I remember what her name was. Jada from New Orleans. The whole thing was how he thought Jada was just a little indecent about her act and he would have to turn the lights off every once in a while and tell her to clean it up a little bit, and one thing and another. And how they went through a little "Hazel" in Judge Richburg's court over all this. It was all in the papers, the whole story was and that is about the gist of what we talked about. And Jada testified at the previous thing. The bureau I work in, the special bureau, also handles all the dancehall licenses and the liquor licenses and it could be that, I don't believe he made a special trip to our office, I think he came to the bureau and might have had a little business for a liquor license, or something, I don't know. I didn't ask him about it at all. Mr. Griffin. All right, the narcotics bureau, is that correct to call it a bureau? Mr. Beaty. Section. Mr. Griffin. Narcotics section is a subdivision of the special service bureau, is that correct? Mr. Beaty. Yes. Mr. Griffin. Within the special service bureau, there is a department which handles dancehall policemen? Mr. Beaty. That's right. Mr. Griffin. Now, does everybody who is a part of the special service bureau occupy the same suite of offices ? Mr. Beaty. No, sir. Mr. Griffin. Does the narcotics bureau occupy the same suite of offices as the dancehall bureau? Mr. Beaty. Yes, sir. Mr. Griffin. What other people occupy the same suite of offices? Mr. Beaty. Vice squad. Mr. Griffin. Do you remember, Detective Beaty, that you were on duty on November 22, the day the President was shot? Mr. Beaty. Yes; I was. Mr. Beaty. Trade Mart. Mr. Griffin. Where did you go from the Trade Mart? Mr. Beaty. Went back to our office. Mr. Griffin. How long did you remain there? Mr. Beaty. I think until about 9 o'clock that night. Mr. Griffin. Were you. on duty on the 23d? Mr. Beaty. Yes, sir. Mr. Griffin. Did you remain in the police department all day on the 23d? Mr. Beaty. Yes, sir. What day was the 23d? Mr. Griffin. That was Saturday. Mr. Beaty. Yes. Mr. Griffin. Now Detective Beaty, what is your best estimate of how long this encounter with Jones was before Oswald actually came downstairs? Mr. Beaty. What time did he get shot? It was about probably 30 minutes before he actually came down and Ruby shot him. Mr. Griffin. That is the important thing. I would rather have you fix it in terms of that time rather than some specific time. Mr. Beaty. Around 30 minutes or something like this. Mr. Griffin. Because I noticed in the interview which you gave to the FBI, you indicated that this was about 10 o'clock that you saw Jones. Did you have any idea at the time when you gave this interview to Agents Dallman and Quigley--that was on December 3--did you have anything specific in mind when you told them that it was 10 o'clock. Mr. Beaty. I just was trying to remember when Captain Jones told me to remain there. No; I was just trying to remember about the lapse of time, it seemed to me like. http://www.jfk-assassination.de/warren/wch/vol12/page158.php Quigley...same as the Quigley in N.O. It is being left to the discretion of the Office of Origin as to whether the Dallas office should be requested to attempt and locate JAMES BRUCE. aka. “Jim” concerning this matter. It is noted Dallas is not in receipt of previous communication regarding QUINN. Since information developed from the 12/15/61 Newark interview with subject, and from interviews with various persons at Miami, reflects no indication of any violation of neutrality statutes, Miami contemplates no additonal investigation in this matter. However any information coming to the attention of the Miami office reflecting that the subject DEMPSEY, GARMAN or any other individuals connected with the subject depart from Miami en route to Latin America, will be furnished to the Bureau and appropriate offices. 15. 124-10350-10100 No Title February 7, 1962 TO: DIRECTOR FROM: SAC, MIAMI CHANGED; JOHN PETER SELTZ; SAUL “SAGE aka KAREL KMOCH, aka Novack IS - NICARAGUA RA - NICARAGUA (00: CHICAGO) Re Bureau letter to Miami dated 12/7/61, and Miami letter with enclosures, 12/6/61, entitled “JAMES WILLIAM BECK; ET AL, Central American Democratic Front (CADF), IS - Nicaragua, RA - Nicaragua.” The title of this case is being changed in accordance with Bureau instructions set forth in Bureau letter dated December 7, 1961, and also to include the correct name of (FNU ) NOVACK, as previously furnished by GERALD PATRICK HEMMING, as set forth in referenced Miami letter with enclosures. Enclosed herewith are nine copies of letterhead memorandum dated and as captioned above. MIAMI will locate and interview individual JOSE FERNANDEZ, former owner of the Pan American Electric Shop, Miami, concerning the identity and whereabouts of individual called CHUCK, CHARLES and CARLOS who hung around MM-T1 mentioned in enclosed memorandum is MM redacted-S, location Miami file 134-redacted Sub A. On December 26, 1961, NELLIE M. HAMILTON, owner 3rd Street, Miami, Florida advised that many young men have been staying at her rooming houses who were “anti-FIDEL CASTRO revolutionaries.” One of these persons, FRANCOIS (last name unknown) a Canadian lived at 1925 Southwest 4th Street, Miami, but was evicted by HAMILTON several months ago for non-payment of his bill. On December 26, 1961, JOE CAVENDISH GARMAN, 1925 Southwest 4th Street, Miami, born February 3, 1930, Bowling Green, Kentucky stated he had been in Miami since the spring of 1961, for the purpose of locating and joining forces with potential anti-FIDEL CASTRO military expeditions. He stated he has been unsuccessful to date in locating such forces. GARMAN stated that FRANCOIS SCHIRM 9278 Lumsden Street, Montreal, Canada, was formerly an associate of his and other Americans residing at that rooming house. GARMAN said SCHIRM was a former member of the French Foreign Legion and GARMAN saw what appeared to be a discharge from the French Foreign Legion which had been issued to SCHIRM. GARMAN said that SCHIRM returned to Montreal, Canada “several months ago” and has not been seen in Miami since that time. RE JOHN PETER SELTZ SAUL SAGE KAREL KMOCH On January 10, 1962, MM-T1 who has been actively engaged in Cuban revolutionary activities for the past four years and who has furnished reliable information in the past, advised that JACK NORDEEN, an American who lived on Southwest 9th Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Street, Miami in September, 1961, claimed to be from Chicago, Illinois and engaged in Nicaraguan revolutionary activities. NORDEEN is partly crippled from his activities in Nicaragua and claimed he was waiting for a man to come to Miami, Florida, with money so that NORDEEN could recruit men for further military action in Nicaragua. NORDEEN said he contacted GERALD PATRICK HEMMING, an American soldier of fortune in Miami, concerning this matter and had recruited (first name unknown) NOVACK. MM-T1 advised that in September 1961, that NORDEEN claimed that JOHN (last name unknown) had recently arrived from Latin America, said that he had been in the mountains of Nicaragua engaging in revolutionary activities, and that he desires to recruit a Latin American force of 500 men, establish a training camp, move in and take over the capital city of Nicaragua, take over the Nicaraguan government and from there launch an invasion of Cuba. MM-T1 said that NORDEEN talked to JOHN about the possibility of recruiting 500 Cubans and American for this adventure and that HEMMING was interested in this plan. Subsequently, MM-T1 advised that he recalled JOHN, mentioned above, was JOHN SELTZ. MM-T1 continued that in the latter part of September, 1961, SELTZ, NORDEEN, FRANCOIS and SAUL SAGE left Miami and went to New York City. Prior to leaving, FRANCOIS said that he was going back to Canada, and the others did not say where they were going after they arrived in New York. MM-T1 said these four have not been in Miami since that time and their present whereabouts are unknown. RE JOHN PETER SELTZ SAUL SAGE KAREL KMOCH to the majority of American mercenaries still in Miami trying to align themselves with Cuban revolutionary forces. On January 12 1962, Mr AL CANTA, Investigator, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Miami, advised that the files of that office contained no information concerning KAREL KMOCH or FRANCOIS SCHIRM. On January 15, 1962, JOSPEH LOBIE, 1061 Southwest 8th Street, Miami, owner of Pan American Electrical Supply Inc., advised he bought this store on November 7, 1961, does not know any CARLOS or the present whereabouts of the stores previous owner. 16. At the moment my memory of what particular URL link where that photo turned up is sketchy, but the gist of it was the photo turned up in a Communist magazine, a Warsaw pact country which escapes me. Ironically, a reproduction of the photo is in Stephen King's JFK time travel, myopic, 11-22-63, page before beginning page. A person who looks like Allen Dulles is in full profile practically in front of the motorcade, there is also a image of a figure resembling Jack Ruby somewhere in there..... I won't win any friends for saying this, but if a photoshop type process was not used for the image, I would be surprised, as a point of debate, if you were Allen Dulles and were in on the assassination, would you be insane enough to make sure you were in a photo along the motorcade in Dallas? I suppose some people would make reference to the "Edward Lansdale tramps" photo, but I just wanted to make my point, I am certainly no photographic expert, and, [ha ha] am rather glad I am not.
  17. I am having a bout with the flu, actually a lot worse than that, but I was trying to find a little more detail about the Reed family, specifically that 1979 obit, which is rather pertinent. Not very successful in that regard. Below will provide some salient details.... Below from JAMES W. POWELL IN DEALEY PLAZA Thread http://educationforu...?showtopic=7809 Both photos were taken by Stuart L. Reed, who also snapped at least one shot of the TSBD and a number of shots of LHO being arrested and escorted outside the Texas Theatre [also contained in "TSFLHO"]. The quality of Reed's photos is remarkably good, suggesting that if he was an amateur photographer, he was quite gifted. More pertinent, however, is that it seems Stuart Reed snapped the TSBD not long after the assassination, as well as Oswald's getaway bus with Oswald on it, and the subsequent arrest. Had Reed been a news photographer in Dallas, one could easily attribute his ubiquitous omnipresence at all the hotspots that day to his connections with local police and members of the press. Yet, it appears Reed had no such source of immediate inside information. In a case already claustrophobic with coincidences, we seem to have yet another synchronicity. A private citizen photographed the building from which the assassin's bullets were purportedly fired, the very bus on which the purported assassin made his getaway [in two photos, as though trailing its progress], and the purported assassin's capture. The odds of this happening randomly are no doubt beyond the norms of statistical probability. Reed's photos [or at least copies of 14 JFK-related slides] seem to have found a repository at the Southeastern Louisiana University, and I think Reed devoted himself to running the family's sod farm in New Jersey in the interim. He would have been in his mid-20's in 1963, as I recall, and I think he may have been serving an active military hitch at the time, but cannot remember anything specific. I believe others here know something more about Stuart Reed, and I'd welcome any additional details about this remarkably lucky photographer. end 576. The Reed were married Oct. 1, 1927 in Galveston. Reed retired in 1968 as the executive Director of the Panama Canal Zone Civil Service System after 32 years in the Army. Reed also served with the Department of the Army in Italy. Mrs. Reed is a retired Red Cross first aid and water safety worker. The Reed’s have two children, one grandaughter and one great-grandaughter Regarding Paul's question about Mr Croft, I have no special information other than the fact that if there are indications, that something is not quite right, then common sense dictates that one considers the possibilities. The Reed family as a point in comparison to Croft is an example of just too many coincidences. Just happened to be in front of the Texas Theater when Lee Oswald is brought out front, just happened to have a military link to the family involved in providing the photos to the Dallas authorities, just happened to have a really high-quality camera....Reed was not the only person who fits this incredible coincidence dynamic, try Jack Martin shooting in Dealey Plaza, who also had some interesting connections.... So regarding Robert Croft, if it hadn't taken me ages to obtain a copy of Trask's Pictures of The Pain, [i am not in a position to just go out a buy books on an unlimited budget], I would have posted about Croft ages ago. Ultimately, my interest in Croft is purely based on conjecture, what drew me to his story was his 'not remembering' about his trip to Dallas, his Mormon missionary work and the fact, that, at least for my own experience I was unable to find him in the Warren Commission documents, I know about the obvious FBI interviews from November 23, 1963. But I personally was unable to find him in any Warren Commission documents, if I am correct about that, then that is also something that piqued my interest. So there you have it...... The website 'sorted by name,' may provide some pertinent information.
  18. One of the not so commonly known persons of the LDS in Dallas on 11/22/63 was given attention by Richard Trask in his book Pictures of The Pain, in the segment entitled The Missionary, page 222; who would be Robert Earl Croft, while there is nothing particularly sinister about a Mormon Missionary deciding to come to take photos of the crime scene of the Presidential Assassination, by some set of circumstances Robert Croft, didn't make it into the litany of all the other first day interviews by the FBI, but was interviewed on November 23, 1963 at the Western States Mission Home on Clarkson St. in Denver. Croft told the two FBI agents "Concerning the weekend events I have almost no recollection of the details." His timeline started out on a LDS missionary trip to Little Rock, Arkansas then to Dealey Plaza, shooting one photo almost simultaneously with Altgens.......using a old Argus C-3 35 MM camera using a roll of 36 exposure Kodachrome-X daylight color slide film. Others who are familiar with some work I did regarding the high quality Kodachrome images taken in front of the Texas Theater, may understand why I am so skeptical that Croft was some sort of benign figure.... 20. As much as this thread does not reflect my view on the assassination, regarding the who, what, when, where and why. There has been something irritating the s_ _ _ out of me regarding sloppy research regarding this area, and for those who are familiar with concise research as opposed to the former, you realize how damaging it can be. It is claimed by certain websites and even researchers, that the late Yitzhak Rabin was "in Dallas" the day John F Kennedy was assassinated. There is a source for this allegation, and it is my view that the pertinent passages in her book have been skewed to create that impression on the internet, at least. I am including the entire passage as it was written, but I will say, it does present some interesting lines of thought. I have also included another "factoid," which, unlike the Rabin issue has to do with organized crime and Meyer Lansky's family. Rabin: Our Life, His Legacy - Lea Rabin Chapter 6 Sabra Statesman page 119 Our first joint visit to the United States (Yitzhak had been there before) took place in November 1963, just before Yitzhak had been appointed chief of staff for the IDF. In preparation for that appointment, Yitzhak embarked on a high-level orientation trip to America. I can appreciate now how momentous it was to have visited the United States at that time. We went to New York and Washington and Yitzhak traveled to several other cities, mainly military centers and installations— all so exciting and awesome and the source of many important new ideas. I remember Yitzhak making an offhand comment to me on our way home to Israel “You know, when I finish my term as chief of staff, I’ll be ready to replace Abe Harman.” Harman was Israel’s Ambassador in Washington at the time. Yitzhak’s premonition later materialized. Our 1963 trip to the United States lasted 3 weeks. I was astonished at the size and the excitement of New York. This was a fast-moving lifestyle unlike anything I had known in Europe or Israel. Dalia and Yuval along with a number of officers, met us at Lod Airport in Tel Aviv upon our return. We were told that President Kennedy had been shot , his condition was as yet unclear. We had never met the Kennedy’s but we could sense how the promise of John Kennedy’s future had stirred American’s and how devastating it would be if something serious had happened to him. Just as we walked in the door of our home, I picked up the phone to hear shocking news: John F. Kennedy was dead. To have just returned from the United States and for Yitzhak to have been in Dallas just hours before — albeit as mere coincidence; Fort Bliss was a stop on his military briefing tour— was disorienting. Yitzhak was about to become chief of staff and had just completed an intensive study of state-of-the-art defense and security practices from the most powerful nation in the world and suddenly we learned that country’s chief-executive was slain by a lone-gunman....... Robert: Yitzhak Rabin, in his memoirs, stated his term as IDF Chief of Staff began on January 1,1964 see page 61, The Rabin Memoirs: Yizhak Rabin LANSKY, MEYER ----- Sources: Life Magazines, 9/1/67 and 9/8/67; Dallas Morning News, Sun Jan 16, 1983 Mary's Comments: Financial "brain" of Mafia; died Sat, Jan 15, 1983. Little Man Meyer Lansky and The Gangster Life - Robert Lacey pps 277-278 Chapter 15 - This Little Man What Could He Do To You Hostility to their stepmother was one of the few things that Meyer Lansky’s three different, and increasingly separate, adult children {Buddy, Paul, & Sandra} had in common. Paul’s wife was Edna. “Paul and Edna Lansky were growing apart and among the several reasons for their disenchantment was the fact that Edna had persuaded Paul to give up his career in the military. Edna was tired of moving their family around. In the early 1960’s she had had to shuttle her home and baby from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Boston, down to Florida for a few months, back to Washington — seven moves in eight years. It was in the course of all this traveling that she had had her miscarriage. 94 In 1962, Paul went to Vietnam for a year, leaving his wife and son at home. He was one of the first of the American “advisers” sent to Saigon by the Kennedy administartion, and when his tour was over, Paul bowed to Edna’s wish not to sign on for another term. He came back to civilian life in Washington State, working first for a timber comapny and then for Boeing, as one of the engineers hired for the Apollo space program.” For Further research http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/US-Israel/jfktoc.html Last Thoughts: I hope no one suspects that I am subtly trying to promote the idea that Israel was behind the JFK Assassination, because, I do not believe they were, but I do want to be very clear on one item. Although I personally do not believe Dimona was the causus belli for the assassination, or that Israel as a nation was complicit, that does not mean, that every aspect of this area has been dissected and analyzed backwards and forwards. For myself, I would like to have seen a writer of the caliber of Peter Dale Scott or someone of that stature take on the topic M.C. Piper did; in other words, had done a credible job. And there are documents pertaining to Israel somewhere in the mass of unreleased documents, although I believe they are mostly State Department documents pertaining to US Arms Control and Israel in the Kennedy administration.
  21. Mike, I get the impression by your posts that you are confusing me with a moderator, which I am not. As for defending you from Lee Farley, that presupposes that I am aware of what exactly you refer to, which I do not. I appreciate the goodwill that you have expressed towards me, and yes I do understand the world will not end on the 50th anniversary. I will continue to post here, albeit not as much as previously, because I have my own projects that I am at work on. Grateful for the kind words expressed by Bernice, Don Jeffries, Dawn and Mike. I would like to say that I do not consider myself "special," and am honest enough to admit my desire for the research community to have unanimity is, naive. But one can always hope. One way I am not different from the rest of the forum members who believe in a conspiracy in which there were elements of our own government involved, is I will never rest until what happened that day, is understood as it happened, although a great deal of that has already been done. My own research leads me to believe as of this moment there are a lot of I's that need dotting, and T's to be crossed.
  22. I just wish that everyone would try to make a better effort to get out of the verbal abuse mode. I am embarrassed for the forum, BTW there are 363 days until the 50th anniversary. Do we really cumulatively want to be Uncle Henry showing up drunk and feeling up the hired help that day?.....figuratively, speaking that is.
  23. I definitely do not think this thread belongs in the garbage can, as another poster weighed in. I would like to throw in a couple of comments not to sound like a demagogue, but to challenge everyone interested in bringing back the Forum to some modicum of respectability to let me add a few comments. I have lived in Dallas my entire life, I had just turned [my birthday preceded Oswald's by one day] five years old, so I didn't have the advantage of being old enough to understand exactly what had happened on November 22, 1963, but definitely understood enough to grasp the profundity that an event of profound significance had taken place. I can truly say I was haunted by the event. I had spent a few years researching the JFK assassination and had come to my own conclusions by the 1977-79 HSCA era and moved on with my life. I realized early on the tremendous amount of negative energy across American culture any position regarding what happened led to, then in 2005 found the Education Forum. Now in 2012, I believe what has happened with the Forum, basically a more personal version of the old usenet, alt.assassination.jfk, insults, vitriol is not unlike the cultural divide regarding the assassination controversy. But the following is really what I want to address, how the research community itself has fundamental flaws, for a couple of reasons and they are intrinsically deeply insulting to anyone who has a healthy self-esteem. 1. Big ego's and lack of humility. 2. See previous posts. There is no solution to certain situations, ie having a forum where anyone can join, then having persons who are members turn right around and having such a lack of respect for others, that everyone who is a member is treated as a maladjusted individual. My own pet peeve is doing a lot of transcribing and providing what I felt were substantive topics, with not so much as a thank-you from anyone, with a few exceptions. After a while you think to yourself, why am I doing this, even emails and personal involvement has been very disappointing. There have been a lot of good rapport, but some more recent experiences involved very patronizing and condescending attitudes here, not to mention the "what have you done for me lately" dynamic. There is no sense of "working together" in any way shape or form. So I stopped caring, completely, I and others, I would imagine have decided why share research only to be verbally battered, ignored or treated as if your posts are not worth responding to, about the only exceptions to all of the above are Bill Kelly and Greg Parker, yet just because I agree with their positions, I am lumped in as some sort of trifecta of disinformation if I don't believe god knows what you would have to ask the people on other forums or websites, what I am guilty of. In the end, the usual forum style response, to my vent, and yes it is a vent, is "if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen,"which is exactly what I have done, not because I "can't stand the heat," but because I choose not to deal with something that is not necessary. In the end, the persons who were the most courteous were John Dolva, Alan Kent, Bill Simpich, Bill Kelly, Greg Parker,Len Colby, Mark Knight, Richard Gilbride, Daniel Ray Dunn, and a few others, the rest of the forum seemed to respond to my posts as if I were a detriment, so I guess the movers and the shakers got their wish. Thought for the day - This is history in ruins
  24. I am truly sorry for not seeing your previous post, Tom. There is a lot of water under the bridge regarding this area. To sum it up, my belief is that the Texas State Fairgrounds, which were a location for the Special Services Bureau, and an integral part of the Dallas Police structure for 1963 and beyond, and then Cuban Relief, the Connell's seem to have the possibility for some type of connection. The Cuban anesthesiologist at Parkland, Godinez, and Fr. Machann. The State Fair is also home to a lot of subplots, Jack Ruby and Larry Crafard, the "How Hollywood Makes Movies,"crowd that came to Dallas, circa 1963.
