  1. Watergate Journalism: The Seeds Of Our Discontent By John D. O'Connor Mark Felt's attorney 01/24/2018 http://dailycaller.com/author/johndoconnor/
  2. The inside flyleaf of Mellen’s book, Faustian Bargains, is illuminating. It reads: Perhaps no other president has a more ambiguous reputation than Lyndon Johnson. A brilliant tactician, he maneuvered colleagues and turned bills into law better than anyone. But he was trailed by a legacy of underhanded dealings, from his “stolen” Senate election in 1948 to kickbacks he artfully concealed from deals engineered with Texas wheeler-dealer Billie Sol Estes, defense contractors, and his Senate aide Bobby Baker. On the verge of investigation, Johnson was reprieved when he became president upon John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Among the remaining mysteries of his life has been LBJ’s relationship with Malcolm “Mac” Wallace, who, in 1951, shot a Texas man having an affair with LBJ’s loose-cannon sister Josefa, also Wallace’s lover. When arrested, Wallace coolly said, “I work for Johnson…I have to get back to Washington.” Charged with murder, he was overnight defended by LBJ’s powerful lawyer John Cofer, and though convicted, amazingly received a suspended sentence. He then received a secret security clearance to work for LBJ friend and defense contractor D.H. Byrd, which the Office of Naval Intelligence tried to revoke for years without success.
  3. Joe, you are right on in what you perceive and write about above. In her book, “Faustian Bargains: Lyndon Johnson and Mac Wallace in the Robber Baron Culture of Texas,” Professor Joan Mellen goes to extraordinary shameful lengths to attack and darken the character of U.S. Marshal Clint Peoples, a truly great American whom I feel privileged to have known. Mellen’s book, nevertheless, is definitely worth reading to get an overall picture of what Texas was like when LBJ and his crooked cronies ruled the state unchallenged. Mellen focuses in her book on Malcolm (Mac) Wallace, whom Billie Sol asserted was a stone cold killer that LBJ used when necessary. In her book, Mellen writes, “Mac Wallace is a case in point, his history with Lyndon Johnson is a window into Johnson’s methods. Wallace’s story is so intriguing because, unlike other of Johnson’s acolytes, it is difficult to prove what he did for Lyndon Johnson and what Lyndon Johnson did, in turn, for him. More than any other of Johnson’s protégés and acolytes, Wallace’s connection to him remains cloaked in secrecy. “In the major events of Mac Wallace’s life, Lyndon Johnson remains invisible. Yet one truth is irrefutable. Everything that was positive and promising in Wallace’s life came to him before he made the acquaintance of Lyndon Baines Johnson and joined Johnson’s circle.”

  5. Len Colodny posted this on his Facebook page on 1/19/2008 Explosive New Evidence Makes "Haig's Coup" Special.Due out in the Fall, New Evidence In "Haig's Coup" Changes Everything We Knew, Or Thought We Knew About Nixon's Removal (Or Watergate) Haig facing possible charges of Treason and Obstruction of Justice for his role in the Moorer-Radford Affair (Military Spy Operation) uses his job as Nixon's Chief of Staff, to work with Sec of Def Melvin Laird, Pentagon General Counsel Fred Buzhardt, and Bob Woodward among others to force Nix...on to resign. Reacting to Nixon's formation of a "Secret Government", and foreign policy Haig disagreed with, Haig was the key spy inside the White House, in what was called at the time, the "Moorer-Radford" Affair. Uncovered in December 1971, Nixon identified all the players including the Chairman of the Joint Chief's Admiral Thomas Moorer, before he ordered it "covered up" with the exception of General Alexander Haig. In May of 1973 with Nixon deep in the Watergate Scandal he was forced to fire his Chief of Staff Bob Haldeman, his Domestic Counsel John Ehrlichman and his legal Counsel John W Dean. On the recommendation of Haldeman, Nixon would appoint General Haig as his Chief of Staff, maybe the biggest mistake Nixon ever made, and there had been many. Strong evidence in "Haig's Coup" will link all the players and tell a story that took decades to be able to tell, how a single source (Haig) with one "reporter," and a major newspaper could bring a President down.

  10. From the article: According to a report on the assassination plots made public by the Senate intelligence committee last November, the 1967 C.I.A. report was produced at the request of President Johnson after Drew Pearson, the syndicated columnist, first reported the involvement of the American Government in plots against Mr. Castro'S life. According to the committee's report, Mr. Johnson was subsequently briefed on the plots that occurred in the Administration of President Kennedy, but not on those in his own. http://www.nytimes.com/1976/03/12/archives/nixon-explains-his-taped-cryptic-remark-about-helms.html?_r=0

Book: The Road Not Taken: Edward Lansdale and the American Tragedy in Vietnam https://www.amazon.com/dp/0871409410?_encoding=UTF8&isInIframe=0&n=283155&ref_=dp_proddesc_0&s=books&showDetailProductDesc=1#product-description_feature_div There is a rave review of this book in the weekend edition (Jan. 6-7) of the Wall Street Journal. Robert D. Kaplan, the reviewer, paints a glowing portrait of Lansdale's "sage" advice for winning the Vietnam War being ignored by the JFK administration. The lengthy review makes no mention of the allegation that Lansdale may have played a role in JFK's assassination, nor does the Amazon announcement of the book. I have not read the book, so I do not know if this subject is covered in it.

  21. David Talbot posted this on Facebook on Dec. 24, 2017: Friends, I'm home from the hospital for Christmas -- and I'm very, very grateful to my wife Camille and sons Joe and Nat for making this possible. I also have to thank with all my heart the nursing staff and physical therapists at the Davies Hospital stroke center in San Francisco. They are a special team and, with their unique personalities and combination of traditional and holistic healing, they provided just the kind of care I needed. Finally, I must thank all of YOU -- ...my friends and fellow warriors -- for your mighty stream of love and support. I was read all of your messages, and they kept up my spirits, particularly in the darkest and loneliest hours at the hospital. My head cracked open on the evening of November 18. But because of you I've been filled with light and joy ever since. It's a hell of a way to learn of your sisters' and brothers' infinite capacity for grace and compassion, and I don't recommend it to anyone. I still have a long way to go, but with your help I'll get there one step at a time. -- David

  23. LEE HARVEY OSWALD COLOR 8MM HOME MOVIES 11-22-1962, ONE YEAR BEFORE JFK ASSASSINATION. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsrJ6a9rldU Two comments made on Facebook today underneath the YouTube link: John Kirsch: I've always been struck by the fact that the Oswalds' second daughter was only 33 days old on 11/22. This is one reason why I have difficulty believing Oswald shot JFK or Tippit. The bare facts of his life actually run counter to the official story, which wants us to believe Oswald was a hostile loner who wanted to make a big name for himself by killing the president. If you ignore this official story line, what you have is a veteran of the armed forces who was married (perhaps not all that happily), employed, albeit marginally, and had two young children to support. Plus there is the fact that Oswald never expressed any hostility toward Kennedy. To top it off you have the fact that he stood in front of cameras from all over the world and denied killing the president. Why did he do that if he wanted to make a big name for himself by killing Kennedy? What I end up with is a portrait of a man who was rooted in the world, perhaps in an uncertain way, and had no discerbible motive for killing JFK or anyone else. Joseph McBride: He was an FBI informant who had infiltrated the plot against Kennedy and was reporting on it without knowing he was being set up by the CIA and the FBI as the scapegoat. Dallas DA Henry Wade, a former FBI agent, revealed to me that the FBI had spoken with Oswald only a day or two before the assassination.
