  1. the information on the boy or man who ran out to the limo, was not reported by penn jones, nor was he in error, see below for 2008 post from lancer..apparently there was an article on this at denis site at the time from the toronto star...

.....The Limo Did STOP Twice on Kennedy's order. From ''Death of a Pesident''..Manchester..pages; 135 and 6... The Motorcade made two stops.....''twice the motorcade halted at Kennedy's order. At Lemmon and Lomo Alto Drive a line of very small children stood behind a placard ''Mr.President , Please stop and shake our hands ''........Let's stop here Bill''Kennedy called to Greer. He stepped into the street and was nearly swept off his feet by a surge of shrieking youths. The scene was affectionally watched by a loyal couple named Gaudet. Toward the end of it, Mrs.Gaudet had an unsettling recollection; that morning she had heard a local radio program devoted to details of the assassination of the Lincoln assassination. and now she told her husband about it, saying ''President Kennedy ought to be awarded the Purple Heart just for coming to Dallas''.Kellerman and his men gently broke up the demonstration of children. So far the city had seemed harmless enough to them. In the lead car Lawson murmured a word of recommendation to Chief Curry Lawson had suggested that the underpasses be cleared of everyone except uniformed policemen, and the first indicated that his advice had been followed. Everything indeed appeared to be on schedule ............When the resident dismounted the second time , the agents . though vigilant, avoided a show of force. He wanted to greet a group of nuns. He was always alert for a glimpse of sisters, and it was a familiar scene. Only a tactless bodyguard would have intruded upon it.
Great stuff as always, Bernice! Bernice, did Manchester, or another source, ever mention the location along the motorcade route of the second stop (the one where JFK greeted the nuns)? Thanks, Mike

  2. Stephen, just a Ferrie-tangential question: in 1963, were there Civil Air Patrol cadet uniforms?

Prior to reaching Houston Street, the Dallas motorcade was interrupted when a teenage male wearing a uniform ran out in the street. Secret Service subdued him. A suspected weapon may have been involved - but I may be in error there.

It's in a thread from c. 2006 on EdForum. It will probably come up in a search under Civil Air Patrol, as I asked this back then.

Wow, bear with me while I recover from my tirade in my post above...

Yes, there were uniforms. Most CAP cadets wore them, but some did not (in the New Orleans and Moisant Squadrons. I'm not sure how it was in other states, but I think most wore uniforms.

  5. Info re Bullet behind JFK ear..

FWIW, the "lodged behind the Ear" memo was written during the autopsy, when information was quite sketchy and transmitted via the phone. The doctors claimed the largest fragment recovered during this autopsy was recovered from behind the right Eye. Eye, not Ear. As a result, I think it's highly probable the reference to the ear was simply a mistake, and that the fragment in question was the so-called 6.5 mm fragment on the A-P x-ray, the fragment recovered from behind the right eye.

i think you may be referring to this documentation,, but it is not the same as the previous document...b

hi pat; No; the first (bullet) document is referenced from Parkland, the two others (fragment) from bethesda, the first (bullet)has nothing to do with the autopsy...b

    fwiw:

    a 1967 oral history of

Burkley done by William McHugh for the JFK Library. I found this

    question and Burkley's answer interesting.

MCHUGH: I see. Do you agree with the Warren Report on the number of

bullets that entered the President's body?

BURKLEY: I would not care to be quoted on that.

  7. In response to Reply # 23

Gary Mack did respond to me, and said that =

a Times Herald photographer took a picture of policemen talking with a =

lady that was trying to leave the parking lot. He said it was right in =

front of the TSBD looking west, and there appeared to be a "sliding =

gate" there. He said it was on the Internet somewhere, but I could not =

    find it.

I cannot see one on the Elm St Extension, from either =

above, or any other photos. However it could be alongside the TSBD =

    extension.

The photos I posted, with the sign, appear to be =

further back, to the north of the parking that is accessible from the =

Elm Extension. It appears that you went over a railroad track, with a =

number of buildings (sheds) along it, and the chain link fence I see in =

the photos, along with the sign, is there.

Maybe the Railroad workers parked in one area, and the =

Deputies in another, and the TSBD in another. I would think the Railroad =

workers parked in the area accessible from the Elm St Extension, because =

it was later determined that the TSBD Annex was actually on Railroad =

property (why it was torn down). But all of the land back to Pacific =

avenue, where the tracks go over Stemmons (see....I almost said the =

RIVER....my Dallas History got in the way again) was Railroad property, =

so that is no help either.

Maybe one of the Railroad people is still alive, and =

    can help?

    Respectfully,

    Jerry Dealey

  8. Ok Bill, then who was the tutor? Any idea, any guesses?

Then you say the imersion program was offered off site.

Again, do you understand what this means?

Language immersion theory is a program which is sometimes called "sink or swim". Its when you literally throw the student into an environment where everyone is speaking the target language, all the time. ANd he is then forced to acquire it or fall behind. It is a highly controversial program and its success rate is very much debated.

But for our practical purposes, where and at what time before he left for Helsinki, would Oswald be in such a program? He would have to be placed at some base where he disappeared for like 8 hours a day for months on end. I know of no witness on record who can attest to that.

Jim, so your alternative to Oswald quickly and secretly learning a language courtesy of the Monterey Language Institute is that another completely different person was exchanged for the person who we know as Robert's brother? But instead of coming up with a time Oswald could have studied Russian while in the Marines, you adopt the substitution theory and don't bother to wonder what the real Oswald was going while his double was running around the USSR for three years?

I think if you ask the question of how Oswald learned Russian so quickly and secretly, the Monterey program, first introduced during a secret Warren Commission meeting, is a good answer, a possibility that is not mentioned in the article devoted to the subject.

And the conclusion, one that you apparently accept, that Oswald was substituted by a completely different person for his defection, is not the correct answer, as neither Armstrong, Rosman or you have convincingly made the case for two Oswalds, when it is also possible that others intentionally impersonated him after he defected.

hi bill; one question, please, if there were not two singular beings under the name of oswald, why then are there reports re military medical information, on two different men, at times in two different places at the same time, thanks.b

  9. Hi Bernice,

Sorry to hear about Dixie's passing.

Dixie and I exchanged some hilarious emails over the years.

    May she rest in peace.

    Duncan MacRae

THANK YOU DUNCAN, AND YES I recall, and a zillion other hillarious ones, there used to be such fun, back then, but things change, nothing stays the same. we will certainly miss the likes of her..take care..b

  10. I am shocked. She wrote to me when I announced I was selling used books on Amazon. She said she was at a garage sale the week before and saw some Kennedy books that didn't go into his death. She said if she'd known then she would have picked up the books and sent them to me. I told her if they were Kennedy books I probably wouldn't sell them but keep them.

I'm so shocked she is dead. And put in a nursing home? She was about 70 years old, but I didn't know that. I'm so sorry and I extend my condolences.

    Kathy C

    :D

thank you David, Kathy, Dixie had been quite ill for some time with Emphysema, she lived in the desert in CAL.and i know the winds that seemed to blow the dust and all around almost always, did not help her breathing problems, nor the pollution, she had gone into a nursing home and died peacefully in her sleep two nights after, she was 71 in march. but you would never have guessed by her interest and love of life, and she cared for people, and that made her special, thank you for your lovely message, now you and we all ,as she would say keep carrying on...but guess what, now SHE KNOWS....WE DON'T YET, BUT SHE DOES. SHE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AND ALL ABOUT IT... :D

  11.
