Shadows are no different than a sidewalk or railroad tracks, when we are talking about the sun as a light source. https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Railroad_Tracks.JPG The tracks are That same width and do not converge as they get further from you. In fact they never get further from you because it is a picture and it is in two dimensions, rendered on your computer screen. The same holds true with shadows as long as the light source is far enough away to render any angles negligible, like the sun.
