When this mission failed, another one was immediately put into operation. Steve, I'd bet you are right. Castorr and his wife socialized H.L. Hunt, Gen. Walker, Robert Morris, and Lt. George Butler (the guy the HSCA believed let Rudy in to shoot LHO). Logue was friends with fellow oil geologist George de Mohrenschildt. So, there's one (two?) degree of separation between Hemming, Hall, Howard, Walker, Martino, Vidal, Hargraves, etc and LHO.

Nelson and Hemming visited boatyards in Miami. FBI informant supplied following information on Hemming on June 21, 1963. June 19, 1963, a.m. -Miami- HEMMING and DICK WATLEY met with MIKE MORINO at Trio Diner.Wanted to know Morino and were planning to rob him of arms Morino kept at 2954 Southwest 16th Terrace, Miami and at Morino's home in Hialeah, Florida. June 19, 1963, p.m. - Hemming on raid of residence of CARLOS ZARRAGA for part of Morino's supply of arms. Returned ZARRAGA'S arms and proceeded to Marino's house. U.S. Customs had confiscated arms. FBI report to U.S. Customs Deputy Commissioner from J. Edgar Hoover, dated June 21, 1963 - relates that on June 18, 1963, in Miami, STURGIS and HEMMING took RICHARD LAUCHLI of Collinsville, Illinois around Miami. LAUCHLI (LOCKLEY phoenic) has a carload of automatic weapons and is a regional director of the "MINUTEMEN".

Just going through some docs and saw these notes on ZRRifle and QJWIN. ZRRIFLE Project Job # 69-S-551 - No File Number ZRRIFLE/Adrninistrative Financial Folder ~T)2173 dated 13 October 1960, Att. Top Secret DEPIGRAM Interpol representative ........._ ___ __. Altman to pick his brain and pinpoint his ability to do this job for us, but once selection made, DEPIGRAM to be cut out of the operation. Memo to C/FI from William Harvey, 27 June 1963 "As far as ZRRIFLE aspects this op, which have been covered under the QJWIN authorization for security reasons and with which Fletcher Knight is fully familiar, except for one precautionary 'lifeline', aspects of this case have been terminated and need no longer be considered part of this project." Folder entitled Personality Sketches Tab M - Harold MELTZER Harold MELTZER with aliases was involved in the rackets with upper echelon "hoodlums" throughout the U.S. (pg. 1 Encl. 3 dated 19 Dec 1960.) "In 1959 he furnished information to our QJWIN California office ... but has not since cooperated with us. N. B. He has the background and talent for the matter we discussed but it is not known whether he would be receptive." Tab Y - Hanna YAZBECK YAZBECK lived in Beurit and worked for QJWIN's office intermittently during the past 10 years (dates not given- possibly 51-61). YAZBECK's chief bodyguard from 50-58 (not named) was a convicted murderer. The bodyguard was murdered. States that YAZBECK has an available pool of assassins.

I agree Steve. He doesn't look like any of the descriptions that Odio gave. She was shown a whole book of pictures during the HSCA and didn't pick out anyone. I think this even included David Morales.

Steve, I believe Salvat spoke English. From Mary Ferrell's site. Harold was not very complementary of Hosty. :-) I noticed Gen Walker gave, what, $5 to DRE at the meeting. I'm thinking Weisberg's friends were the Castorrs. I read one of his letters where he was not pleased that Dick Russell wrote about them in The Man Who Knew Too Much. Great thread.

Steve, Some questions: Who was Dean Perkins? He was on stage with John Martino Oct 1 in Dallas. Who was the very attractive female from Miami, supposedly representing DRE, that was in the company of Hall and Howard? Ed Twilly? Was Forray Kiki Ferrer? Weisberg seemed to note this in the margin. Mrs. Castorr -"Yes. A man by the name of Forray. You see, subsequently, Joanna Rodgers told me that she and her husband were on a cruise and they met this Mr. Forray and he asked if Joanna would do him a personal favor and that was to look after this girl -- Sylvia (Odio)." Weisberg's theory page 29 - W: The rest of the Moran (Loran) Hall story is (what they told Sylvia Odeo) was that they were going to get this man, Oswald, into Cuba to knock Castro off. I don't believe that but what I do believe (you'd never hire Oswald to kill anybody or you'd never trust him to do it on his own--he wasn't mechanically capable of pulling it off) what could have happened, though, would have been a competent man who looked like Oswald could have used Oswald's papers and it's my belief that when Oswald failed to get the visa, he lost all utility and could serve no purpose to the people he was associated with and I think this is why they framed him.

Echevarria was associated with Paulino Sierra. Sierra was visited by Burt Mold and John Lechner and asked to form a Government in Exile (JGCE). They represented themselves as having Jake Lansky as their primary financial backer. This is where this reference came in.

Steve, This is important information. I'm surprised there no comments. The Castorrs are under researched for sure. They socialized with Gen Walker, H.L Hunt and Robert Morris. They knew Lt George Butler, whom the HSCA suspected let Jack Ruby into the police station.

Steve, The descriptions are all over the place as usual. 5'7" to 6'0"? Could be anybody.

The tapes were VHS and stationary. It was hard to distinguish who was speaking sometimes since they were out of frame and didn't introduce themselves. Oh, and Escalante chain smokes. :-) There's a lot of good information there. Especially the description of David Phillips as Harold Benson. I transcribed the first tape. I think Mary Ferrell transcribed tape 2, Deb Conway transcribed a couple of them also. Nancy Wertz? Kathy Cunningham? Mary and I exchanged our translations.
