George McGhee was held over, along with William B. Macomber Jr. (Best man in Thomas Devine's 1973 wedding. ), in important, State Dept. positions, by the incoming JFK admin. in 1961.

New coincidence here is that McGhee in 1948, purchased a 400 acres farm in close proximity to the Glen Ora estate of Gladys Byfield Tartiere, leased by JFK and family as the weekend white house from Dec., 1960 to spring, 1963.

McGhee is the only subject I've discovered, besides Robert McNamara, who married the widowed daughter-in-law of the late Mrs. Tartiere in 2002, who is in such close proximity to so many others mentioned in the conspiracy to murder JFk. McGhee's farm in Middleburg, VA. was in an exclusive neighborhood of 400 acres estates. It can be assumed McGhee knew Mrs. Tartiere, and her son Ernest Byfield Jr., who was OSS in WWII and who inherited the Sherman Hotel group in Chicago in 1950, upon the death of his father, Ernest Sr. Patrick Hoy was VP and then President of the Sherman Hotel group from 1950 until 1960 when he was hired away by Henry Crown at General Dynamics. Hoy was linked to Crown's hotel partner, Conrad Hilton, who was linked to Earl Warren, and Hoy suggested that Hitlon and Crown put mob lawyer Sidney Korshak on permanent retainer. Irv Kupcinet was a very cloes friend of Korshak and Hoy, who Kupcinet saw nightly at the Sherman group's Ambassador West Hotel restaurant, the Pump Room. Kupcinet describes the hiring of Hoy by Crown in his first book. Kupcinet's close friends Jimmy and Ira Colitz were close friends of Jack Ruby. Ruby stayed at the Sherman Hotel when he returned to Chicago after WWII, and when he visited from Dallas, according to Ruby's brother's WC testimony. The Colitz brothers WC testimony was that Ruby visited their bar, the Clover Bar, located next to the Hotel Sherman where Patrick Hoy and Ernest Byfield had their offices.....

Read on, because there are many more conincidences that make George C. McGhee a unique and central figure in the investigation of this 45 years old mystery.

George C. McGhee Dies; Oilman, Diplomat

By Adam Bernstein

Washington Post Staff Writer

Wednesday, July 6, 2005

George C. McGhee, 92, a millionaire oil prospector who became a central figure in postwar diplomacy by helping create and shape U.S. economic, military and petroleum ties from Europe to the Far East, died July 4 at Loudoun Hospital Center in Leesburg. He had pneumonia.

Dr. McGhee, a Texas native, devoted his early years to winning a Rhodes scholarship, acquiring a fortune and marrying "the most beautiful and richest girl in Texas." He won the scholarship on the second try, became a wealthy oilman before he was 30 and married the daughter of the eminent oil geologist Everette DeGolyer.

Pulled into government service in 1946 by William L. Clayton, a fellow Texan and an undersecretary of state, Dr. McGhee rose quickly in the diplomatic world. Regarded as an energetic and capable emissary, he initially held a wide-ranging portfolio that included disbursing $400 million in military and economic aid to Greece and Turkey.

Turkey, perched on the fulcrum between Europe and the Middle East, continued to figure prominently in his career. While serving as ambassador there from 1951 to 1953, he helped welcome the country to NATO membership. He later donated his restored Ottoman villa to Georgetown University, which uses the home for its Eastern Mediterranean studies program.

In the late 1940s, he traveled constantly to promote industrialization in Africa and the Middle East and negotiated lasting military and petroleum ties with the Saudi royal family.

His work at the time was at least partly seen as a bulwark to communism, and Dr. McGhee, known as "Mr. U.S." wherever he traveled, spoke eloquently about the role of American assistance.

Daniel Yergin, author of "The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power" (1991), said Dr. McGhee was one of the key diplomats at a time of "shifting American foreign policy and implementing containment. He was on the front lines in the early crises that defined the Cold War."

In the early 1960s, as undersecretary for political affairs, Dr. McGhee was dispatched to Congo and the Dominican Republic when the instability of civil wars and unaccountable governments threatened to destabilize the peace. Not every negotiation was successful, particularly talks with a son of the Dominican strongman.

"He was 22 and a major general," Dr. McGhee once said. "We wanted him to sell back the sugar properties that his family had accumulated. We made him an offer, and he made us a counteroffer. But he lost his nerve one evening. In the middle of a big party in his yacht, Angelita, he set sail with all his girlfriends instead."

Dr. McGhee's last significant diplomatic posting was to West Germany, from 1963 to 1968. He largely went about cementing NATO alliances and military policies during that Cold War period and weathered anti-Vietnam War protests.

George Crews McGhee was born in Waco, Tex., on March 10, 1912, to a bank executive and his wife. As a child, he combed riverbeds for rocks, plants and other artifacts to bring home and display -- "butterflies, insects, minerals, arrowheads -- anything that aroused my curiosity."

He was a 1933 geology graduate of the University of Oklahoma and worked for various oil companies. He received a patent for a method of making dip determination of geological formations, a valuable contribution to his industry. After receiving his doctorate from Oxford University in 1937, he worked with his future father-in-law to find and buy promising fields.

He became an independent explorer in 1940 and, soon after, struck oil in Lake Charles, La., in an oil field that sustained him financially for the rest of his life.

During the early years of World War II, he served in the Office of Production Management and on the War Production Board. He became a naval air intelligence officer in the Pacific and served on the staff of Gen. Curtis E. LeMay.

After leaving government service in 1969, Dr. McGhee served on the corporate boards of such companies as Mobil Oil, Procter & Gamble and Trans World Airlines, as well as on countless advisory bodies.

He lived in an 18th-century brick farmhouse near Middleburg that he called Farmer's Delight and crafted his hundreds of acres into a showplace of landscape design. The property featured a maze formed by 300 boxwood plants, with the reward being a bottle of cold champagne inside the urn planted at the center.

He wrote several books about his diplomatic career and a fictional work, "The Dance of the Billions: A Novel About Texas, Houston and Oil" (1990), that he said was based on his life as a young man. However, the book is known within the family as far too puritanical and sexless to be a commercial success. Dr. McGhee said he wrote it because "I got so bored writing my memoirs that I took time off."

His wife of 63 years, Cecilia DeGolyer McGhee, died in 2002. Two of their children died, Valerie McGhee in 2000 and Michael McGhee in 2003.

Survivors include four children, George McGhee of Middleburg,....

There is an entry in Oswalds address book of HA 81 5 81.

on the following page of the address book:

"Scott Malone reported that when OSWALD was questioned about his address book he pointed to a number and said it belonged to a CIA agent who debriefed him. OSWALD had the telephone number of McGehee Investments (RI 8 7604) in the Texas Bank Building in his address book. The words "Rand 4 U at Jobco" appeared before this number. This firm was not listed by Dunn and Bradstreet. There was no indication it existed other than a listing in the 1963 Dallas Criss-Cross Directory. Earl Goltz reported that President John F. Kennedy's Under Secretary Of State, Dallas resident George McGhee (born March 10, 1912), was mentioned in a letter written by OSWALD associate George DeMohrenschildt in 1961, in which he suggested the Soviets might be interested in the film of his Central American walking trip. George McGehee had an office in the Republic National Bank Building. McGehee was in Washington and Germany during the period OSWALD was in Dallas."

After Mrs. Frost's death, the family sold the estate to Ambassador George C. McGhee in 1948. The Ambassador renovated the Manor House and added another wing on the south side. He created the extensive gardens and arboretum, and repurposed the outbuildings as small museum spaces. Like the Frosts, the McGhees kept horses and ponies for their six children; the main riding ring is now one of the parks. The Ambassador also added other amenities such as a swimming pool, a tennis court, and a boxwood maze.

Thanks to his efforts, Farmer’s Delight Plantation was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973....

....Michael’s uncle, Eric Schroeder, was a friend and investment associate of geologist Everette DeGolyer and a cousin of Alexander "Sandy" Forbes, former director of United Fruit who "belonged to the elite Tryall Golf Club retreat in Jamaica with former DeGolyer associate Paul Raigorodsky."

Everett DeGolyer, the famous geologist, who spent his entire career working for the Pearson oil companies and thus had close ties to Lazard Brothers which owned Pearson was also a director of Dresser Industries. He had begun his career employed by Mexican Eagle Oil Co., owned by Sir Weetman Pearson, who called him to London in 1918 to sell Mexican Eagle to Royal Dutch Shell.

The proceeds from the sale were invested by Pearson in the creation of a new oil company founded and operated by De Golyer in 1919 called Amerada (some years later merged into Amerada Hess, at least 10% of which was owned by the British government).

After he retired from the oil business to become an owner of Saturday Review, DeGolyer still maintained an office in Houston and was well-known in the Houston and Dallas petroleum clubs frequented by Bush and Liedtke.

One of DeGolyer’s daughters married George C. McGhee, a U.S. State Department official, who was present in May 1954 at the first Bilderberg meeting with George Ball, David Rockefeller, Prince Bernhard of Holland and Dr. Joseph Retinger. McGhee later served as a trustee of the Aspen Institute for Humanistic Studies, established by the Anglo-American establishment to shape the "limits to growth" agenda. By that time McGhee had left the State Department to become a director of Mobil Oil, the company which absorbed Magnolia Oil Company, which played a very strategic part in the Kennedy assassination. The other daughter was married to General Milton W. Arnold.

Fabian Escalante, the chief of a Cuban counterintelligence unit during the

late 1950s and early 1960s, he describes in his 1995 book, that as soon as

intelligence was received from agents in Cuba that Fidel Castro had

"converted to communism," a plan called "Operation 40" was put into effect

by the National Security Council, presided over by Vice-President Richard Nixon.

Escalante indicates that Nixon "was the Cuban 'case officer' who had

assembled an important group of businessmen headed by George Bush and Jack Crichton, both Texas oilmen, to gather the necessary funds for the

operation.

"Nixon was a protégé of Bush’s father Preston [sic] who in 1946

had supported Nixon’s bid for Congress. In fact, Preston [sic] Bush was the

campaign strategist that brought Eisenhower and Nixon to the presidency of

the United States. With such patrons, [Tracy] Barnes was certain that

failure was impossible. "

Jack Crichton's role is very interesting, as it fits into the Texas oil

community. According to Peter Dale Scott, Crichton arranged for Marina

Oswald to have Ilya Mamantov as her interpreter when she was questioned

after Oswald’s arrest. Mamantov also taught scientific Russian classes at

Magnolia Oil Co. Lee and Marina Oswald first met the Paines at a party at

the home of Richard Pierce and Everett Glover where practically all the

guests worked for Magnolia Oil. The guests included a German named Volkmar Schmidt who came to Dallas in 1961 to do geological research at Magnolia’s laboratories in nearby Duncanville.

DeGolyer's partner, Lewis W. MacNaughton, had a personal accountant named George Bouhe, who worked at the Tolstoy Foundation with Paul Raigorodskya man involved with the National Alliance of Solidarists. Bouhe was closely tied to George DeMohrenschildt, who later became famous as the White Russian assigned to "handle" Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas. It was DeMohrenschildt who had taken the Oswalds to a party where they met Volkmar Schmidt, and then a later party at the same house where they met Michael Paine.

DeMohrenschildt was also the one in charge of getting Marina a place to stay at Ruth Paine’s home, and it was Ruth Paine who found Oswald the job at the book depository office in the building owned by D.H. Byrd, who was a friend of Jack Crichton. DeMohrenschildt also was involved with the Russian Orthodox

Church Outside Russia in Dallas which received subsidies from the Baird

Foundation, determined to be a CIA conduit by the Patman House Select

Committee hearings [cf. New York Times, March 5, 1967, p. 36].

I think it is more important now to find out who Ernie Byfield Jr. was.... In 1943, he was the best man in the wedding of Maltese Knight, William HG Fitzgerald:

Consider in my last post that William B. Macomber Jr. was closely associated at the State Department in 1961 with George H. McGhee. Macomber had commissioned a study of defectors in 1959 and as a result, we know he was aware of Oswald's name and circumstances...I posted the document related to this recently on another thread.: http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.ph...st&p=170455

In 1963, William B. Macomber Jr. married the personal secretary if Allen Dulles's brother, John Foster Dulles.

Also as mentioned, in 1973, Macomber Jr. was best man in Thomas Devine's wedding to Drexel heiress, Alexandra Mills, daughter of Yale Bonesman Samuel Wynne Mills, on Jupiter Island, FL. Macomber's brother, John D. Macomber, is married to a direct descendant of JP Morgan, and John was the career mentor of Michael Ainslie, who is the second husband of Suzanne Butler Hooker Braga Ainslie, daughter of Edward G. Hooker, GHW Bush's school roommate and George Demohrenschildt's step-nephew and former oil exploration business partner.

Thomas Devine officially resigned from CIA about 1953 to partner with GHW Bush in Zapata Corp. Documents later released by CIA relate that businessman Thomas Devine was able to obtain a top secret security clearance, just a month before the Tet offensive, to escort congressman GH W Bush on a tour of Vietnam. Devine was connected under the CIA code name Wubriny-1 with George Demohrenschildt's early 1960's "business activity" in Haiti.

Thomas Devine was described as employed by "Train, Cabot" in NYC, in his 1973 wedding announcement. "Train" is John PC Train, a founder of the Paris Review in 1952 with Peter Mathiessen of the CIA, and George Plimpton, a CIA asset. it was later revealed that the CIA financed the Paris Review during it's earliest years.

The March. 1961 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article below, describes the "Orange County Hunt Club" in Middleburg, VA, home of both George C. McGhee and of Ernest Byfield Jr. and his mother Gladys Tartiere, of the Glen Ora estate in Middleburg, as a fox hunting club originating in Orange County, NY, whose principles, including Mr. Harriman and Mr. Townsend, bought large tracts of land in Middleburg, VA, circa 1905, and formed a new hunting club in Middleburg, of the same name.

The 1961 residents of Middleburg and the founders of the Orange County Hunt Club there, are some of the same prominent residents of Jupiter Island, FL, along with Texans, George Brown and George McGhee.

It turns out that Charles Coster Jr., son of Morgan partner Charles Coster who died suddenly in 1900, was an active member of the Orange County NY hunt club, and was best man in the 1907 wedding of the Middleburg, VA hunt club co-founder, Mr. John R. Townsend. Aritcles in the NY Times before 1907 refer to the Orange County Hunt Club in New York and name both Charles Coster and a "Mr. Gerard, aka Girard".

John Train's mother, Helen Coster Gerard Train's brother was that Charles Coster, and her first husband, father of John Train's four half-siblings was Sumner Gerard, brother of former US Ambassador to Germany in 1915, James W. Gerard:

Visit to the Weekend White House

by Vera Clay

Middleburg, Va- When the President's wife wearies of Girl Scout teas and Washington politicians, she can retire to her country home in an area whose residents are the kind

of people who vote Republica, or Southern Democratic, and take their time making up their minds about whether they want the President of the United States in their midst.

Middleburg, where the Kennedys have rented a "weekend retreat," is 40 miles from Washington, in the center of the fashionable Virginia Piedmont fox-hunting country....

...She has her own horse now, "Bit of Irish," stabled with friends near Middleburg. For two years Mrs. Kennedy has been an honorary subscribing (non-voting) member of the

junior class of the Orange County Hunt there. The junior class is for men and women younger than 35.

Since they are tenants, and not landowners, the Kennedys cannot become voting members of the select hunt company.

A hunt is an organization of landowners who band together and agree to let members pursue the little red fox over their acres. The 400 acres of Glen Ora are thus part of

the Orange County Hunt.

There are hunts all over the South and around most big cities, but the Orange County, the Piedmont, and the Middleburg, all located nearby, remain the most famous.

The Virginia hunt country is one of the few places in this world where the polished ritualistic, tightly exclusive life of the late 19th Century still survives, maintained

by horse-loving millionaires.

It was "discovered" by Railroad King Edward Henry Harriman, father of President Kennedy's roving Ambassador, Averill Harriman. About 1905 he and a group of wealthy friends from Orange County, NY, founded the Orange County Hunt at The Plains, a village nearby.

The Middlebug Training Center for yearling horses is here. In the neighborhood of Middleburg, The Plains and nearby Upperville are famous breeding farms-- Mrs. Dodge

Sloan's "Brookmeade," Paul Mellon's "Rokeby," Taylor Hardin's "Newstead Farm," Mrs. A. C. Randolphs "Oakley," Mrs. Cloyce Joseph Tippet's "Langollen."

The Upperville Colt and Horse Show is the oldest horse show in America.

Equally famous are the homes. Some date back 150 years or more. "Farmers Delight," now owned by Assistant Secretary of State George McGhee, was built in 1771.

"Huntlands," owned by George Brown, a Texan who frequently entertains Vice President Lyndon Johnson, was built at "New Lisbon" about 1830.

Most celebrated, until the Kennedys arrived, was "Little Oak Spring," at Upperville, the residence of Paul Mellon, or Pittsburgh.

There the Mellons have entertained Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip of Great Britain, and the Crown Prince of Japan.

Also neighbors of the Kennedys are Stephen C. Clark, Jr., C. Oliver Iselin, Jr., Hubert Phipps, Victor du Pont and many other equally well heeled and socially acceptable.

The hunt country counts more millionaires per square acre than any other section of the United States-- or, at least, Middleburg residents think so.

Many of these capitalists who weren't sure about the Kennedys' acceptability now are having second thoughts....and are preparing to welcome their new neighbors hospitably.

....The town and countryside are clannish. Newcomers must know horses, have money and fit the older residents' own special standards to gain a welcome....

I don't have my chart in front of me, but I recognize the name T. Suffern Tailer. He married one of the heirs of the Brown banking family. I think his wife (a Brown) later married C. Ledyard Blair. The Tailers lived in Tuxedo Park, NY, which was either in or close to Orange County, NY. They were close also to the branch of Browns married into the Stillman and Potter families.

Who runs this country? The Federal Reserve. Who runs the Federal Reserve? Its shareholders. The people you are tracking are the shareholders of the most important segments of that banking system. The NY Fed initially was controlled by the wealthy clients of Kuhn Loeb, an investment bank greatly dependent upon Rothschild interests who managed trust estates of certain institutions and wealthy clientele. When E.H. Harriman got control of Illinois Central and Union Pacific, which had been in receivership and began paying dividends to Kuhn Loeb's old clients, they became quite enamored of Mr. Harriman. Other wealthy investors in banking stock of the NY Fed banks included Rockefellers and Stillmans, who made money from Standard Oil. They saw the destiny of the nation as dependent upon their banks' ability to guarantee the credit of the U.S. government's federal reserve notes.

The Federal Reserve in some ways replaced the old Bank of the U.S. and Second Bank of the U.S. except that all they did back then was underwrite or guarantee the financial and monetary policies of the elected government. The bank itself was still privately owned but didn't have a governor or any voice in policy. But when its charter was not renewed, the bankers still owned the bank, but its charter was just transferred to a state government. The bank had moved from Philadelphia to the area that became Washington, D.C., but was originally part of Virginia and Maryland. When you trace the shareholders of the Bank of the U.S. , you learn that they too were in many cases related to the Brown family--Alexander Brown and his four sons.

To understand why these firms operate as they do, it is necessary to give a brief history of their origins. Few Americans know that J.P. Morgan Company began as George Peabody and Company. George Peabody (1795-1869), born at South Danvers, Massachusetts, began business in Georgetown, D.C. in 1814 as Peabody, Riggs and Company, dealing in wholesale dry goods, and in operating the Georgetown Slave Market. In 1815, to be closer to their source of supply, they moved to Baltimore, where they operated as Peabody and Riggs, from 1815 to 1835. Peabody found himself increasingly involved with business originating from London, and in 1835, he established the firm of George Peabody and Company in London. He had excellent entree in London business through another Baltimore firm established in Liverpool, the Brown Brothers. Alexander Brown came to Baltimore in 1801, and established what is now known as the oldest banking house in the United States, still operating as Brown Brothers Harriman of New York; Brown, Shipley and Company of England; and Alex Brown and Son of Baltimore. The behind the scenes power wielded by this firm is indicated by the fact that Sir Montagu Norman, Governor of the Bank of England for many years, was a partner of Brown, Shipley and Company.* Considered the single most influential banker in the world, Sir Montagu Norman was organizer of "informal talks" between heads of central banks in 1927, which led directly to the Great Stockmarket Crash of 1929.

Chart 1 reveals the linear connection between the Rothschilds and the Bank of England, and the London banking houses which ultimately control the Federal Reserve Banks through their stockholdings of bank stock and their subsidiary firms in New York. The two principal Rothschild representatives in New York, J. P. Morgan Co., and Kuhn,Loeb & Co. were the firms which set up the Jekyll Island Conference at which the Federal Reserve Act was drafted, who directed the subsequent successful campaign to have the plan enacted into law by Congress, and who purchased the controlling amounts of stock in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in 1914. These firms had their principal officers appointed to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and the Federal Advisory Council in 1914. In 1914 a few families (blood or business related) owning controlling stock in existing banks (such as in New York City) caused those banks to purchase controlling shares in the Federal Reserve regional banks. Examination of the charts and text in the House Banking Committee Staff Report of August, 1976 and the current stockholders list of the 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks show this same family control.

I believe the McGehee was Frank McGehee.

" Perlstein's op-ed had me rushing to Google "National Indignation Convention" to learn more about this delightfully named wingnut association. That led me to a Dec. 8, 1961, article from Time magazine titled, "The Ultras," a fascinating and far-ranging survey of the many groups of that time who regarded Barry Goldwater as a communist sympathizer. It includes this summary of the NIC:

THE NATIONAL INDIGNATION CONVENTION, one of the fastest growing of the new groups, was started recently by Dallas Garage Owner Frank McGehee, 32, to protest the training of Yugoslav pilots in the U.S. It has since spread across the country through supporting committees. With a keen eye peeled for "modern traitors" in government, the movement holds evangelistic-like meetings at which members have heard the Eisenhower and Kennedy Administrations condemned as "treasonous." along with suggestions for lynching Earl Warren.

The group's agenda also included the defense of segregation and opposition to the fluoridation of water. Really. These were people who would have cheered Gen. Jack D. Ripper's vehement defense of "our precious bodily fluids" in Dr. Strangelove.

The woman who assaulted Adlai Stevenson with the picket sign was affiliated with the National Indignation Convention. Photojournalist Wes Wise, who captured that incident on film, reveals another revealing detail in Robert Huffaker's book, When the News Went Live: Dallas 1963. After the woman's assault on Stevenson was condemned nationally, the crazy lady offered what she considered an excuse for her behavior. "I was pushed from behind by a Negro," she said. There were, of course, no black people in the vicinity.

Throughout Wise's account, Stevenson comes across as unflappable. I picture David Niven playing the part. When a member of the IndigNation -- Frank McGehee himself, actually -- heckled and tried to shout down his speech in Dallas, Stevenson paused and said, "Surely, my dear friend, I don't have to come here from Illinois to teach Texas manners, do I?" The crowd cheered.

Stevenson may often have been, as Perlstein writes, "earnestly confused" by the irrational claims and behavior of his opponents, but his response to McGehee and to the crazy woman with the sign don't convey such confusion. He knew exactly what to make of those people: They were rude and irrational. The politeness of his rational response in both cases doesn't blunt the implication of those responses -- that these people ought to be ashamed of themselves.

That's an example of what's often missing today in dealing with the IndigNation. These people are offended and outraged and so politicians and journalists respond by trying not to further offend or enrage them. As though that were possible. Indignation is their raison d'etre. They will take offense whether or not it is given. There is no point trying not to offend them. There is no point in trying not to make them angry.

An appropriate response isn't to be more offended or more offensive, but it should involve going on the offense. The IndigNationalists are behaving shamefully and it is appropriate and necessary to point that out to them. It's our duty to point that out to them.

The appropriate and necessary phrase when confronted by members of the IndigNation -- by the birthers, the deathers, the baggers, the immigrant-blamers and homophobes and cryptoracists and misogynists -- is simply to tell them the primary thing they need to hear: "You ought to be ashamed of yourself."

I believe the McGehee was Frank McGehee.

http://slacktivist.typepad.com/slacktivist...ndignation.html ....

I'm not convinced, Frank McGehee was the proprietor of a garage (auto repair?). What are the odds he would keep

an "Investments" office in the Republic National Bank Building?

This is an image from the transcript represented as originating from the contents of Oswald's address book.

The telephone number, RI 8-7604, was connected to "McGehee Investments" at the Republic building location via the

Dallas Criss-Cross Directory, a look up process we today perform via the internet through a reverse phone number search:

NARA Record Number: 124-10183-10249

AJ Weberman also makes an interesting observation about the FBI's interpretation of the name above the "RI 8-7604".

Weberman says the FBI disappeared the name, "Robert Odum", changing it to "Adams". The transcript page also happens

to be the one displaying the name and contact info of FBI agent James Hosty. Could sharing the page with Hosty, have taken

attention away from a thorough investigation of whether the other entries were for "Adams" or "Odum", as well as who

the RI 8-7604,number actually was assigned to? Wouldn't George C. McGhee have been instantly considered beyond reproach by investigators, which would be a vital reason to assign him as an Oswald contact, in the first place?

Doesn't it seem the multiple investigations of Oswald, of which his address book should have been a central focus, leave troubling unanswered questions about these two contacts? The name Adams and the description accompanying the number

RI 8-7604, are both still in question, as well as who the number RI 8-7604 was assigned to in 1963. Shouldn't both contacts have been confirmed and cleared up, by, at the latest, during the summer of 1964?

While I'm posting on this subject, the phone number billed to Jack Ruby assumed to have been called by his roommate George Senator in Gloversville, NY, was never followed up with a publicly disclosed result:

http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.ph...st&p=160843

Mr. Senator was originally from Gloversville, and so was Henry Crown's daughter-in-law, and her brother, G. David Schine, as well as their parents J. Myer Schine. By the time of the HSCA, it was known that the Schine family owned the Ambassador Hotel where RFK was assassinated.

OSWALD'S ADDRESS BOOK

Scott Malone reported that when OSWALD was questioned about his address book he pointed

to a number and said it belonged to a CIA agent who debriefed him. OSWALD had the

telephone number of McGehee Investments (RI 8 7604) in the Texas Bank Building in his

address book. The words "Rand 4 U at Jobco" appeared before this number. This firm was not

listed by Dunn and Bradstreet. There was no indication it existed other than a listing in the

1963 Dallas Criss-Cross Directory. Earl Goltz reported that President John F. Kennedy's Under

Secretary Of State, Dallas resident George McGhee (born March 10, 1912), was mentioned in

a letter written by OSWALD associate George DeMohrenschildt in 1961, in which he

suggested the Soviets might be interested in the film of his Central American walking trip.

George McGehee had an office in the Republic National Bank Building. McGehee was in

Washington and Germany during the period OSWALD was in Dallas.

''In the early 1950s, Republicans referred to the presidencies of Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman as "20 years of treason" and accused the men who led the fight against fascism of deliberately surrendering the free world to communism. Mainline Protestants published a new translation of the Bible in the 1950s that properly rendered the Greek as connoting a more ambiguous theological status for the Virgin Mary; right-wingers attributed that to, yes, the hand of Soviet agents. And Vice President Richard Nixon claimed that the new Republicans arriving in the White House "found in the files a blueprint for socializing America."

When John F. Kennedy entered the White House, his proposals to anchor America's nuclear defense in intercontinental ballistic missiles -- instead of long-range bombers -- and form closer ties with Eastern Bloc outliers such as Yugoslavia were taken as evidence that the young president was secretly disarming the United States. Thousands of delegates from 90 cities packed a National Indignation Convention in Dallas, a 1961 version of today's tea parties; a keynote speaker turned to the master of ceremonies after his introduction and remarked as the audience roared: "Tom Anderson here has turned moderate! All he wants to do is impeach [supreme Court Chief Justice Earl] Warren. I'm for hanging him!"

Before the "black helicopters" of the 1990s, there were right-wingers claiming access to secret documents from the 1920s proving that the entire concept of a "civil rights movement" had been hatched in the Soviet Union; when the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act was introduced, one frequently read in the South that it would "enslave" whites. And back before there were Bolsheviks to blame, paranoids didn't lack for subversives -- anti-Catholic conspiracy theorists even had their own powerful political party in the 1840s and '50s.

Did you catch the delicious admission of the name of that one group? The National Indignation Convention. This was their purpose, their motive, their calling. To cultivate and savor a sense of indignation. ...''

edit add:i was sorely tempted to rest my case there for a split second. however...

AJ,

Did you not know that our friend Phil Ochs who went to Dealey as an observer, had the name for his other side, the side that had to kill Phil Ochs, was "John Train"?

I wonder why you never talk about Phil.

The man who picked me up at the airport in LA on my way to see Phil in 74 to get ready for the Midnight Special Show, was short and talked about the Hollywood connection and showed me a photo of a man driving a station wagon that picked up Oswald or his look a like. He had a long nose and in the photo, looking back out the drivers side window looked like he was using Man Tan because when I saw him on one of the shadow buses, just before he got off in Dallas with a group, one of whom told me JFK was going to be killed, he did not look like he had Man Tan on his face. Maybe he wanted to look Black in Dealey.... this friend of Phil's told me the drivers name was Odom or Odum and connected with the FBI.

Are you the man who talked to me in LA about what I knew and about Phil?

It's the McGehee from the National Indignation Convention.
