Macomber Jr. (Best man in Thomas Devine's 1973 wedding. ), in important, State Dept. positions, by the incoming JFK admin. in 1961. New coincidence here is that McGhee in 1948, purchased a 400 acres farm in close proximity to the Glen Ora estate of Gladys Byfield Tartiere, leased by JFK and family as the weekend white house from Dec., 1960 to spring, 1963. McGhee is the only subject I've discovered, besides Robert McNamara, who married the widowed daughter-in-law of the late Mrs. Tartiere in 2002, who is in such close proximity to so many others mentioned in the conspiracy to murder JFk. McGhee's farm in Middleburg, VA. was in an exclusive neighborhood of 400 acres estates. It can be assumed McGhee knew Mrs. Tartiere, and her son Ernest Byfield Jr., who was OSS in WWII and who inherited the Sherman Hotel group in Chicago in 1950, upon the death of his father, Ernest Sr. Patrick Hoy was VP and then President of the Sherman Hotel group from 1950 until 1960 when he was hired away by Henry Crown at General Dynamics. Hoy was linked to Crown's hotel partner, Conrad Hilton, who was linked to Earl Warren, and Hoy suggested that Hitlon and Crown put mob lawyer Sidney Korshak on permanent retainer. Irv Kupcinet was a very cloes friend of Korshak and Hoy, who Kupcinet saw nightly at the Sherman group's Ambassador West Hotel restaurant, the Pump Room. Kupcinet describes the hiring of Hoy by Crown in his first book. Kupcinet's close friends Jimmy and Ira Colitz were close friends of Jack Ruby. Ruby stayed at the Sherman Hotel when he returned to Chicago after WWII, and when he visited from Dallas, according to Ruby's brother's WC testimony. The Colitz brothers WC testimony was that Ruby visited their bar, the Clover Bar, located next to the Hotel Sherman where Patrick Hoy and Ernest Byfield had their offices..... McGhee, 92, a millionaire oil prospector who became a central figure in postwar diplomacy by helping create and shape U.S. economic, military and petroleum ties from Europe to the Far East, died July 4 at Loudoun Hospital Center in Leesburg. Regarded as an energetic and capable emissary, he initially held a wide-ranging portfolio that included disbursing $400 million in military and economic aid to Greece and Turkey. Turkey, perched on the fulcrum between Europe and the Middle East, continued to figure prominently in his career. While serving as ambassador there from 1951 to 1953, he helped welcome the country to NATO membership. He later donated his restored Ottoman villa to Georgetown University, which uses the home for its Eastern Mediterranean studies program. In the late 1940s, he traveled constantly to promote industrialization in Africa and the Middle East and negotiated lasting military and petroleum ties with the Saudi royal family. His work at the time was at least partly seen as a bulwark to communism, and Dr. McGhee, known as "Mr. U.S." wherever he traveled, spoke eloquently about the role of American assistance. Daniel Yergin, author of "The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power" (1991), said Dr. McGhee was one of the key diplomats at a time of "shifting American foreign policy and implementing containment. He was on the front lines in the early crises that defined the Cold War." In the early 1960s, as undersecretary for political affairs, Dr. McGhee was dispatched to Congo and the Dominican Republic when the instability of civil wars and unaccountable governments threatened to destabilize the peace. Not every negotiation was successful, particularly talks with a son of the Dominican strongman. "He was 22 and a major general," Dr. McGhee once said. "We wanted him to sell back the sugar properties that his family had accumulated. We made him an offer, and he made us a counteroffer. But he lost his nerve one evening. In the middle of a big party in his yacht, Angelita, he set sail with all his girlfriends instead." Dr. McGhee's last significant diplomatic posting was to West Germany, from 1963 to 1968. He largely went about cementing NATO alliances and military policies during that Cold War period and weathered anti-Vietnam War protests. George Crews McGhee was born in Waco, Tex., on March 10, 1912, to a bank executive and his wife. As a child, he combed riverbeds for rocks, plants and other artifacts to bring home and display -- "butterflies, insects, minerals, arrowheads -- anything that aroused my curiosity." He was a 1933 geology graduate of the University of Oklahoma and worked for various oil companies. He received a patent for a method of making dip determination of geological formations, a valuable contribution to his industry. After receiving his doctorate from Oxford University in 1937, he worked with his future father-in-law to find and buy promising fields. He became an independent explorer in 1940 and, soon after, struck oil in Lake Charles, La., in an oil field that sustained him financially for the rest of his life. During the early years of World War II, he served in the Office of Production Management and on the War Production Board. He became a naval air intelligence officer in the Pacific and served on the staff of Gen. Curtis E. LeMay. After leaving government service in 1969, Dr. McGhee served on the corporate boards of such companies as Mobil Oil, Procter & Gamble and Trans World Airlines, as well as on countless advisory bodies. He lived in an 18th-century brick farmhouse near Middleburg that he called Farmer's Delight and crafted his hundreds of acres into a showplace of landscape design. Fabian Escalante, the chief of a Cuban counterintelligence unit during the late 1950s and early 1960s, he describes in his 1995 book, that as soon as intelligence was received from agents in Cuba that Fidel Castro had "converted to communism," a plan called "Operation 40" was put into effect by the National Security Council, presided over by Vice-President Richard Nixon. Escalante indicates that Nixon "was the Cuban 'case officer' who had assembled an important group of businessmen headed by George Bush and Jack Crichton, both Texas oilmen, to gather the necessary funds for the operation. According to Peter Dale Scott, Crichton arranged for Marina Oswald to have Ilya Mamantov as her interpreter when she was questioned after Oswald’s arrest. Mamantov also taught scientific Russian classes at Magnolia Oil Co. Lee and Marina Oswald first met the Paines at a party at the home of Richard Pierce and Everett Glover where practically all the guests worked for Magnolia Oil. The guests included a German named Volkmar Schmidt who came to Dallas in 1961 to do geological research at Magnolia’s laboratories in nearby Duncanville. DeGolyer's partner, Lewis W. MacNaughton, had a personal accountant named George Bouhe, who worked at the Tolstoy Foundation with Paul Raigorodskya man involved with the National Alliance of Solidarists. Bouhe was closely tied to George DeMohrenschildt, who later became famous as the White Russian assigned to "handle" Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas. It was DeMohrenschildt who had taken the Oswalds to a party where they met Volkmar Schmidt, and then a later party at the same house where they met Michael Paine. DeMohrenschildt was also the one in charge of getting Marina a place to stay at Ruth Paine’s home, and it was Ruth Paine who found Oswald the job at the book depository office in the building owned by D.H. Byrd, who was a friend of Jack Crichton. DeMohrenschildt also was involved with the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia in Dallas which received subsidies from the Baird Foundation, determined to be a CIA conduit by the Patman House Select Committee hearings [cf. New York Times, March 5, 1967, p. 36]. I think it is more important now to find out who Ernie Byfield Jr. was.... Macomber Jr. married the personal secretary if Allen Dulles's brother, John Foster Dulles. Also as mentioned, in 1973, Macomber Jr. was best man in Thomas Devine's wedding to Drexel heiress, Alexandra Mills, daughter of Yale Bonesman Samuel Wynne Mills, on Jupiter Island, FL. Macomber's brother, John D. Macomber, is married to a direct descendant of JP Morgan, and John was the career mentor of Michael Ainslie, who is the second husband of Suzanne Butler Hooker Braga Ainslie, daughter of Edward G. Hooker, GHW Bush's school roommate and George Demohrenschildt's step-nephew and former oil exploration business partner. Thomas Devine officially resigned from CIA about 1953 to partner with GHW Bush in Zapata Corp. Documents later released by CIA relate that businessman Thomas Devine was able to obtain a top secret security clearance, just a month before the Tet offensive, to escort congressman GH W Bush on a tour of Vietnam. Devine was connected under the CIA code name Wubriny-1 with George Demohrenschildt's early 1960's "business activity" in Haiti. Thomas Devine was described as employed by "Train, Cabot" in NYC, in his 1973 wedding announcement. "Train" is John PC Train, a founder of the Paris Review in 1952 with Peter Mathiessen of the CIA, and George Plimpton, a CIA asset. it was later revealed that the CIA financed the Paris Review during it's earliest years. McGhee and of Ernest Byfield Jr. and his mother Gladys Tartiere, of the Glen Ora estate in Middleburg, as a fox hunting club originating in Orange County, NY, whose principles, including Mr. Harriman and Mr. Townsend, bought large tracts of land in Middleburg, VA, circa 1905, and formed a new hunting club in Middleburg, of the same name. Most celebrated, until the Kennedys arrived, was "Little Oak Spring," at Upperville, the residence of Paul Mellon, or Pittsburgh. There the Mellons have entertained Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip of Great Britain, and the Crown Prince of Japan. Also neighbors of the Kennedys are Stephen C. Clark, Jr., C. Oliver Iselin, Jr., Hubert Phipps, Victor du Pont and many other equally well heeled and socially acceptable. The hunt country counts more millionaires per square acre than any other section of the United States-- or, at least, Middleburg residents think so. Many of these capitalists who weren't sure about the Kennedys' acceptability now are having second thoughts....and are preparing to welcome their new neighbors hospitably. ....The town and countryside are clannish. Newcomers must know horses, have money and fit the older residents' own special standards to gain a welcome.... Harriman, and Miss Virginia Orme, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Orme of Philadelphia, were quietly marriend in that city on Thursday. Mr. Townsend is the nephew of E.N. Tailer of this city, and consequently a first cousin of T. Suffern Tailer/ He is well known as an amateur whip and all- round sportsman. At present he is master of the Orange County Hunt. Charles Coster was best man, and the other New York guests included..... I don't have my chart in front of me, but I recognize the name T. Suffern Tailer. He married one of the heirs of the Brown banking family. I think his wife (a Brown) later married C. Ledyard Blair. The Tailers lived in Tuxedo Park, NY, which was either in or close to Orange County, NY. The people you are tracking are the shareholders of the most important segments of that banking system. The NY Fed initially was controlled by the wealthy clients of Kuhn Loeb, an investment bank greatly dependent upon Rothschild interests who managed trust estates of certain institutions and wealthy clientele. When E.H. Harriman got control of Illinois Central and Union Pacific, which had been in receivership and began paying dividends to Kuhn Loeb's old clients, they became quite enamored of Mr. Harriman. Other wealthy investors in banking stock of the NY Fed banks included Rockefellers and Stillmans, who made money from Standard Oil. They saw the destiny of the nation as dependent upon their banks' ability to guarantee the credit of the U.S. government's federal reserve notes. The Federal Reserve in some ways replaced the old Bank of the U.S. and Second Bank of the U.S. except that all they did back then was underwrite or guarantee the financial and monetary policies of the elected government. The bank itself was still privately owned but didn't have a governor or any voice in policy. But when its charter was not renewed, the bankers still owned the bank, but its charter was just transferred to a state government. The bank had moved from Philadelphia to the area that became Washington, D.C., but was originally part of Virginia and Maryland. When you trace the shareholders of the Bank of the U.S. , you learn that they too were in many cases related to the Brown family--Alexander Brown and his four sons. Few Americans know that J.P. Morgan Company began as George Peabody and Company. George Peabody (1795-1869), born at South Danvers, Massachusetts, began business in Georgetown, D.C. in 1814 as Peabody, Riggs and Company, dealing in wholesale dry goods, and in operating the Georgetown Slave Market. In 1815, to be closer to their source of supply, they moved to Baltimore, where they operated as Peabody and Riggs, from 1815 to 1835. Peabody found himself increasingly involved with business originating from London, and in 1835, he established the firm of George Peabody and Company in London. He had excellent entree in London business through another Baltimore firm established in Liverpool, the Brown Brothers. Alexander Brown came to Baltimore in 1801, and established what is now known as the oldest banking house in the United States, still operating as Brown Brothers Harriman of New York; Brown, Shipley and Company of England; and Alex Brown and Son of Baltimore. These firms had their principal officers appointed to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and the Federal Advisory Council in 1914. That led me to a Dec. 8, 1961, article from Time magazine titled, "The Ultras," a fascinating and far-ranging survey of the many groups of that time who regarded Barry Goldwater as a communist sympathizer. It includes this summary of the NIC: THE NATIONAL INDIGNATION CONVENTION, one of the fastest growing of the new groups, was started recently by Dallas Garage Owner Frank McGehee, 32, to protest the training of Yugoslav pilots in the U.S. It has since spread across the country through supporting committees. With a keen eye peeled for "modern traitors" in government, the movement holds evangelistic-like meetings at which members have heard the Eisenhower and Kennedy Administrations condemned as "treasonous." along with suggestions for lynching Earl Warren. The group's agenda also included the defense of segregation and opposition to the fluoridation of water. Really. These were people who would have cheered Gen. Jack D. Ripper's vehement defense of "our precious bodily fluids" in Dr. Strangelove. The woman who assaulted Adlai Stevenson with the picket sign was affiliated with the National Indignation Convention. Photojournalist Wes Wise, who captured that incident on film, reveals another revealing detail in Robert Huffaker's book, When the News Went Live: Dallas 1963. After the woman's assault on Stevenson was condemned nationally, the crazy lady offered what she considered an excuse for her behavior. "I was pushed from behind by a Negro," she said. There were, of course, no black people in the vicinity. Throughout Wise's account, Stevenson comes across as unflappable. I picture David Niven playing the part. When a member of the IndigNation -- Frank McGehee himself, actually -- heckled and tried to shout down his speech in Dallas, Stevenson paused and said, "Surely, my dear friend, I don't have to come here from Illinois to teach Texas manners, do I?" The crowd cheered. Stevenson may often have been, as Perlstein writes, "earnestly confused" by the irrational claims and behavior of his opponents, but his response to McGehee and to the crazy woman with the sign don't convey such confusion. He knew exactly what to make of those people: They were rude and irrational. The politeness of his rational response in both cases doesn't blunt the implication of those responses -- that these people ought to be ashamed of themselves. That's an example of what's often missing today in dealing with the IndigNation. These people are offended and outraged and so politicians and journalists respond by trying not to further offend or enrage them. As though that were possible. Indignation is their raison d'etre. They will take offense whether or not it is given. There is no point trying not to offend them. There is no point in trying not to make them angry. An appropriate response isn't to be more offended or more offensive, but it should involve going on the offense. The IndigNationalists are behaving shamefully and it is appropriate and necessary to point that out to them. It's our duty to point that out to them. The appropriate and necessary phrase when confronted by members of the IndigNation -- by the birthers, the deathers, the baggers, the immigrant-blamers and homophobes and cryptoracists and misogynists -- is simply to tell them the primary thing they need to hear: "You ought to be ashamed of yourself." I wonder why you never talk about Phil. The man who picked me up at the airport in LA on my way to see Phil in 74 to get ready for the Midnight Special Show, was short and talked about the Hollywood connection and showed me a photo of a man driving a station wagon that picked up Oswald or his look a like. He had a long nose and in the photo, looking back out the drivers side window looked like he was using Man Tan because when I saw him on one of the shadow buses, just before he got off in Dallas with a group, one of whom told me JFK was going to be killed, he did not look like he had Man Tan on his face. Maybe he wanted to look Black in Dealey.... this friend of Phil's told me the drivers name was Odom or Odum and connected with the FBI.
