Robert Prudhomme
Funny that the FBI would claim Lovelady made this statement. "On February 29, 1964, Billy Nolan Lovelady was photographed by Special Agents of the FBI at Dallas, Texas. On this occasion, Lovelady advised that on the day of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, November 22, 1963, at the time of the assassination, and shortly before, he was standing in the doorway of the front entrance to the TSBD where he is employed. He stated he was wearing a read and white vertical striped shirt and blue-jeans."

There's plenty of photographic evidence that Lovelady was wearing his red and white and black and grey plaid shirt on 11/22/63. (Note the pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket.) Sounds like the shirt Lovelady was wearing wasn't the only thing the FBI screwed up on. -- Tommy BTW, 170 lbs. or 160 lbs? Better check again, Bob. Seriously, Thomas, I think I would go with what the FBI told us, not some uncorroborated "interview" Gary Mack claims to have conducted. Unless, of course, you can get Buell to back up Gary's claim. The question is, why would the FBI try to establish Lovelady was wearing a red and white vertically striped shirt? Howdy Bob, Why always think so conspiratorially, Bob? The explanation I read is that Lovelady put on his favorite short-sleeved shirt the day the FBI came to his house to interview him, and the FBI assumed that it was the shirt he had worn on 11/22/63. Sorry for such a mundane explanation. -- Tommy Edited October 23, 2016 by Thomas Graves
Robert Prudhomme
No, the report did not say they assumed he was wearing a red and white vertically striped shirt, it claims he stated he was wearing a red and white vertically striped shirt; either on 29/02/64 or 22/11/63. Now, the likelihood of Lovelady stating what he was wearing on 29/02/64, while in the company of FBI agents, is somewhat remote; as they could obviously see for themselves what he was wearing. This could only mean it was inferred he stated he wore the red and white vertically striped shirt on 22/11/63. Now, as Lovelady knew perfectly well what he was wearing on 22/11/63, and it was NOT a red and white vertically striped shirt, why do you think the FBI felt compelled to lie in their report about what Lovelady was wearing on 22/11/63? Howdy Bob, So either the FBI assumed incorrectly and brazenly put words in Lovelady's mouth, or Lovelady, not the sharpest knife in the drawer, remembered incorrectly. Didn't Lovelady, either before or after this FBI interview, identify himself in the Altgens 6 photo, Bob? When you look at a good enlargement of Altgens 6, does it look to you as though "Door Man" / Lovelady is wearing that bold red and white vertically-striped, short-sleeved shirt on that cool and blustery late-November day? Don't get all Cinqueish and Feltzerish on me now, Bob. What do you think Lovelady was wearing during the assassination, Bob? Why can't you accept the fact that that's Lovelady walking down the Elm Street Extension towards the Parking Lot, and that he starts running in that direction while Shelley starts crossing over the street towards the "island"? -- Tommy Edited October 23, 2016 by Thomas Graves
Ray Mitcham
It appears to me that the guy wearing the plaid shirt in Altgens 6 is the the same guy in a plaid shirt, shown walking down the street with the other guy, and the same guy pictured in the DPD, wearing a plaid shirt, when Oswald was being taken in. If it is Oswald in Algens 6, then how come he was walking down the street and sitting in The DPD whilst he was being taken it to the same place. Incidentally, are there any photos of anybody wearing a red and white striped shirt outside the TSBD? We now know with certainty that Lovelady was 5' 8" tall. Find out how tall Shelley was and you might have a solid argument.
Ray Mitcham
Where would Lovelady get a shirt which exactly matches the shirt worn by "plaid man" in Altgens 6, walking down the street and sitting in the DPD office, if wasn't him? Robert Prudhomme
There seems to be some misunderstanding here, which is quite typical for this forum. If you read my posts carefully, you will see I am not attempting to argue that Lovelady was not wearing a plaid shirt the day of the assassination. I know he had a plaid shirt on. There are more than enough photos to prove this. What I am wondering is why the FBI was so intent on claiming Lovelady stated he was wearing a red and white vertically striped shirt on 22/11/63. Guest
Lovelady was not asked to wear the shirt he wore that day when he was photographed by the FBI Yet the reports stated that he did, hence the hooha. Old news really, Weisberg was on this decades ago. Edited October 23, 2016 by Bart Kamp

Howdy Bob, If you really do accept the fact that Lovelady was wearing his red and white and black and grey plaid shirt on 11/22/63, then you should be able to admit to yourself that Lovelady was captured on film walking down Elm Street Extension just a few seconds after the assassination. Why? Because he was wearing the same darn shirt. When you see that distinctive shirt in and around Dealey Plaza on 11/22/63, you know it's being worn by Billy Nolan Lovelady. -- Tommy Edited October 23, 2016 by Thomas Graves
