Martin Blank
On 4/4/2020 at 2:00 PM, W. Niederhut said: I'm no expert, by any stretch, but I agree with Ron Ecker on this one. The Joint Chiefs and NSC people (Bundy, Rostow, et.al.) certainly knew from their staff meetings that LBJ disagreed with JFK's interest in getting out of Vietnam and de-escalating the Cold War. The fact (?) that LBJ ducked as his limo entered Dealey Plaza implies that he knew JFK was slated for execution, but also indicates that he, himself, didn't necessarily trust the executioners. don't forget JFK and LBJ's argument the morning of the 22 about taking connally out of the limo and putting yarborough, in his place which i believe was the original seating plan for the motorcade. Joseph McBride
See my interview in INTO THE NIGHTMARE with Sen. Ralph Yarborough about why LBJ ducked and what his demeanor was in the limousine before, during, and after the shooting, etc. And how it was a lie that Rufus Youngblood jumped over the seat to shield LBJ with his body. David McLean
Don't forget Ed Clark, the"secret boss of Texas", lawyer for LBJ and the Murchisons, named by LBJ ambassador to Australia in 1966 (when the Pine Gap treaty was negotiated) and later to the Arms Control Agency. I believe he may have made some kind of confession before he died to a crony and medico in his hometown of St Augustine.
Terry Adams
"I was telling Johnson that the safest thing for us was to get out of there and get back to Washington. He said that we were not leaving without Mrs. Kennedy, and she wasn't leaving without her husband's body. There was nothing sinister about it. Some people are just trying to make something up that isn't really there." Rufus Youngblood
