Steve Thomas
https://www.neatorama.com/2021/05/27/CIA-Bay-of-Pigs-Victory-Coin/ “On April 17, 1961, a small army of 1,500 Cuban exiles backed by the US government landed at the Bay of Pigs in the hope of overthrowing the Castro regime. To prepare for this great event that would doubtlessly be the start of a successful military campaign, the CIA struck commemorative coins.” Artifact Details https://www.cia.gov/legacy/museum/artifact/bay-of-pigs-victory-coin/ “This silver coin commemorating an anticipated (but never realized) Bay of Pigs victory features an outline of Cuba with a rebel invader advancing past a fallen member of Castro’s military in the foreground. The reverse side prominently displays a cross, shield, and the flag of Cuba with the phrases “Crusade to Free Cuba” and “There will be no end but victory.” Steve Thomas

Staggering, calling it a victory coin. I do subscribe to this “history is written by the victors”. Commonly attributed to Winston Churchill but, it actually looks like it was Herman Goering who was responsible for the quote. If a lie is told enough times it becomes truth. Maybe history will be told that the USA starved Cuba financially and therefore was victorious.
