Matt Cloud's compilation of Harvey & Lee related coincidences and some theories explaining them

To Matt Cloud….

Thanks for all this new material.  I’ll read it all again asap, but a couple of preliminary questions:

In this post you wrote:

Now -- how did Daniel P. Moynihan on 11/22/63 know "We must get a hold of Oswald?"

In an admittedly quick read, I didn’t see this provocative statement in the docs you posted. Can you cite a source for the quote?

In this post you wrote, “BTW, might RFK have wanted Oswald silenced after 11/22?  Something to think about.” The research of John Armstrong and others has shown that Jack Ruby was almost certainly far more involved in the assassination of JFK than we previously thought.  I sincerely doubt RFK put Ruby up to anything in this case.

Also, you frequently spell the surname “Tippit” as well as “Tippet.”  Both the Connecticut and Texas Tippit names were spelled the same, as far as I know. I’ve made the same mistake, so I’m betting these are just typos, right?

Finally, portions of many of the docs you reproduced here have excerpts highlighted in red.  Were those highlights made by you specifically for these posts, or were at least some of them produced in a different context?

See also Moynihan's introduction to his 1974 book "Coping: On The Practice of Government" which was originally intended to have been written with Edward Jay Epstein -- for whom Moynihan opened doors for ever since their being together in 1965 at MIT-Harvard Joint Studies program.

Note as Moynihan tells the story he went around with Bob Macey, head of US Civil Service.  This is important.  Macy (and Maurice Stans, later of Watergate fame) had budgetary authority over covert programs in 50s.  Search CIA's CREST database for more on this.  Eg:

"I sincerely doubt RFK put Ruby up to anything in this case."

I don't think you understand then the true parameters of what was at issue during the Kennedy Admin, the assassination, and after.  The issue is the mole in the U-2 program.  When that is understood, the various angles of the persons involved become clear.  We can discuss further.

Yes typos as  to Tippit or Tippet.

The highlights were made specifically by me for posts on Twitter, for my account there:

I suggest following hashtags #WhoWasJohnMcMahon

Thanks you.

"Why could the Tippett caller not have been directing attention AWAY from a European-American neo fascist source for the assassination? "

This is a good question and one that should be considered.  Was Bentley in some way set up to take the bait to make this call?

Further to this question, I would suggest reading and chewing over the penultimate paragraph of Moynihan's letter to Richard Gid Powers which I have posted here:

Let me now introduce the thought that a strategy was developed as to how to deal with the extremes on right and left during cold war, which was to expose America to ideologies more or less alien to the country as a whole, in order that an anti-virus capability develop.  Saying that however is not to say that extremes of both sides -- which is really after all one side, "authoritarianism" -- have not sought to exploit this "controlled burn" strategy for their own benefit.

And this strategy moreover was undertaken by persons on both West and East sides, in secret agreement.

Now, I am evidently out of attachment space on the forum here and as I don't wish to delete what images I have already uploaded, I will then direct readers here to attachments I have posted elsewhere, on Twitter.

First, is the call from Claire Boothe Luce to Colby in 1975 -- just before his firing -- in which she tells Colby that Oswald infiltrated her band of Cubans in Florida as a counterintelligence operation and that then the "anti-Castro" Cubans turned that around and did a counter-intel op on him.

Somewhere on the web, maybe here in fact, someone has put together that the Oswald psych report in Warren Commission reads more or less exactly as a 1949 study on a troubled delinquent in NYC.  Will see if I can find and post here.

Here, see "Tommie":

3. “Tommy, can you hear me? I’m the Acid Queen”
These are two lines from the Who’s 1969 rock opera, Tommy, about a deaf, dumb, and blind pinball wizard. The Acid Queen is a woman hired by his family who tries to restore his senses, either by dosing him with LSD or having sex with him. The song isn’t quite clear.

Query: Was it imperative for the Oswald Project that US-USSR cable and mail traffic be open to both sides?  That is, we read their mail, they read ours, and we know that they read ours and they know that we know that we read theirs?

They were perpetuating the story that Oswald shot both Tippit and Kennedy and that they know nothing about that or that they know anything to do with what may have been done to create the Oswald legend.  I'm not sure where you're getting hung up.

Perhaps someone here could upload the article image, which has a nice picture of Connecticut's J.D. Tippit?

So, if you're following here, Navy Secretary Fred Korth was attorney in Oswald's mother's divorce and J.D. Tippit -- of Connecticut -- worked as assistant to Air Force Secretary Harold Brown.

Everyone getting the picture as to why the anonymous call in November 1963 -- probably from Elizabeth Bentley -- to Tina and J.D. Tippit in Connecticut was so problematic?

Are you saying #1 and #2 are separately each significant, or are together as a whole significant?

I really don't get many of the points you are trying to make. And I still don't know how John McMahon fits into this.

Though the following coincidences are interesting:

  1. By initials only, the name of J.D. Tippit in Connecticut is identical to the name of J.D. Tippit in Texas.
  2. The Tippits in Connecticut are from Texas, the same as the Tippits in Texas.
  3. The Jack Tippit in Connecticut was a well know cartoonist. (I recall his Henry cartoon.)
  4. The two Tippits are close to the same age. About a year apart.
  5. There may be more coincidences that I don't recall right now.

They are significant both independently, and cumulatively. Korth has been discussed on this forum, fairly well I'd say, although perhaps un-remarked upon are some key facts, not least of which may be his week-long stay at Bethesda Naval Hospital in October 1963.

In addition, the connective tissue between he and Ekdahl is I think, if I recall, Edward R. Finch, whose grandson became Nixon's son-in-law.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_R._Finch

There will be more to come no doubt.

Now then, Harold Brown should be understood.  Read Strobe Talbott on that for insights.

See Talbott, Endgame: The Inside Story of SALT; see also Talbott, The Master of the Game; Talbott, Deadly Gambits.

Note that Talbott's uncle was Secretary of the Air Force during Eisenhower before getting into a beef with Robert Kennedy, and before his wife plummeted out their New York apartment in 1962.

Anyhow, Brown was a McNamara guy, a MITRE guy, ARPA.  What Tippit -- who may have been more than a mere cartoonist -- was doing for him is surely important.  Anyway Brown became Carter's SecDef in '77.  That's important.  Same time as John McMahon became Stan Turner's right hand at CIA, and all that emphasis on SIGINT over HUMINT.

If you don't understand how John McMahon yet fits in, read here:

https://www.cia.gov/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP90-00965R000302330042-8.pdf

As I remarked elsewhere on this thread, the fundamental issue behind the assassination, indeed the key to understanding it, is the so-called mole in the U-2 program.  John Newman understands this but has misidentified the mole, perhaps on purpose.  It's not Solie.

We can pick up on this more tomorrow.
