Paul, if you take the time to consider the following, maybe you'll agree that it comes down to whether or not you take into account as much as possible of a rather busy, half century long mystery saga, or you have a more narrow focus. You take the testimony of Marina at face value, for example, and Dawn recenlty pointed out that she gives most of it the benefit of the doubt. The problem I have is that it doesn't mesh well with so many other details.

Why would there be a half century cover up, involving a whitewash "commission" chaired by a Rockefeller, not to mention the WC whitewash, the sabotage of Garrison's investigations and prosecutions, all the coincidences of Bush and his good friend Devine linked to both DeMohrenschildt and to Priscilla Johnson, her beeline to Dallas to be Marina's minder, a 14 year delay in putting out Marina's story, Priscilla's husband, George writing books about assassinations with no pryor background or training, the contol of publishing by the Harper & Brothers Cass Canfield and his stepson at the CIA's Paris Review, the connections of Albert Jenner / Henry Crown / Byfield, (Jack Ruby ?) William HG Fitzgerald, Robert G. Stone, Jr., Thomas Devine, William & John Macomber, if there was something to all of this more than distorting/shielding the antics of ex-General Edwin Walker and his little band of merry men?

Charles Francis "Frank" Stone, 87, an intelligence officer who retired in

1969 after 32 years with the Central Intelligence Agency and its predecessor

organization, died of cancer June 2 at his home in Washington. Mr. Stone, who

began his career in Washington with the Central Intelligence Group in 1947,

was stationed in Europe and Africa. He was a native of Upper Montclair, NJ,

and a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He worked for Chemical Bank in

New York before World War II. He served in the Army in North Africa, India

and Europe during World War II. Mr. Stone, who had second home in

John Alston Crichton, mentioned above, who was later a business partner of William H.G. Fitzgerald wedding usher, Oliver W. Hammonds, produced a Russian interpreter to question Marina Oswald almost immediately after Lee Harvey Oswald's arrest on 22 Nov., 1963.....

Byfield, Jr., Gladys Tartiere was the owner of the Glen Ora estate leased to JFK as the weekend white house, that Byfield was the decade long employer of Patrick H. TRASK-Frederick K., Jr. Ninetyone, of Carmel Valley Manor, Carmel, CA., and Underhill, VT, died Thursday, Oct. 16 of heart failure. He was the husband of Sarah W. Trask and the late Margaret P. Trask. Mr. Trask was a founder and partner of Payson & Trask (NYC) venture capital with Joan Whitney Payson. He was also a founding director of the New York Mets (baseball). He graduated from Groton School and Harvard University in 1930. During World War II Mr. Trask was a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army in Washington, D.C. with the Office of Contract Settlement. Mr. Trask was a longstanding trustee of U.S. Trust Co. of New York and a director of General Reinsurance Corp., the former Great Northern Nekoosa Corp., and New York Hospital-Cornell. He was instrumental in forming the New York-Cornell Medical Center. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Frederick K. Trask III of Denver, CO, and three daughters, Jacquelin T. Duffek of Eastham, MA., Jane T. Rosen of Stillriver, MA., and Frances T. Wozencraft of Sun River, OR....

Joan Payson was the sister of John Hay "Jock" Whitney. Whitney's assets were managed by Tom Devine's

and Paris Review's John PC Train. Train's father in Bar Harbor entertained the parents of the second Priscilla Johnson, born in Stockholm in 1922. Uncle Herbie was a parnter with Payson in the NY Mets, and his favorite nephew was GHW Bush. Cord Meyer's brother, William, married Joan Payson's daugter. So, along with Nelson's son, Rodman, the Rockefeller's and Whitneys went big into prefab homes along with their CIA partners (vassals ?)

A couple of observations are that the relationships seem too tight; low odds that these CIA folk are simply randomly tied in to prefabricated homes manufacturing. In this example our own James Kelsey "Jake" aka "Jack" Cogswell happened to be in the wedding party of a soon to be, major prefab home corp., investor and later chairman. I originally looked at Robert V. Hansberger because he turned Boise Cascade into a giant corporation centered near where Collins Radio was founded.

Albert B. Carter's wedding party included Tom Devine and Andre Rheault and Alexander Aldrich and Henry Brunie's stepson, and I believe Henry Cabot was the son of Cass Canfield's best man 30 years earlier. James K. Donaldson was among the group and he ended up dead at a time he was deeply immersed in prefab housing all over the world.

Dryer who had "visited" DeMohrenschildt in Haiti and had interacted with CIA asset Michael JP Malone of the Bragas and the King Ranch, the Braga first cousin, Ervesun, being Byfield's Russian first wife's brother-in-law. Frank Schiff Is Dead at 83; Headed Big Insurance Broker

Frank Schiff, the third generation of a New York family to run a prominent old-line insurance brokerage business before global conglomerates became dominant, died on April 8 at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He was 83 and lived on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Mr. Schiff died after a brief illness, said David Schiff, a nephew and editor of Schiff's Insurance Observer.

As his grandfather Simon and his father, William, had before him, Frank Schiff headed Schiff Terhune Inc., a nationwide concern that provided general insurance and risk-management services to large corporations and their executives. It advised them on matters like loss control and the right mixture of insurance coverage, and it negotiated with insurers on their behalf.

The company, with headquarters on Maiden Lane in the financial district of Manhattan, was founded by Simon Schiff in 1906.

Frank Schiff, a native New Yorker, attended Lawrenceville School in New Jersey and Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. In 1941 he entered military service and rose to the rank of captain, working in intelligence with the Ninth Air Force in Europe.

Mr. Schiff's father died in 1964, and he became chairman and chief executive of Schiff Terhune. During his tenure, the company grew into Schiff Terhune International, one of the country's largest private insurance brokers, eventually handling clients' premiums worth about $250 million a year. It counted among its clients corporations like Allied Stores, CBS, Chris-Craft Industries, Piper Aircraft, Philip Morris and Siemens.

Schiff Terhune's revenue had increased 10-fold by 1982, when it was acquired by Reed Stenhouse of Canada and became part of a still larger holding company, the brokerage firm of Alexander & Alexander. Mr. Schiff stayed on as a vice chairman until his retirement in 1988.

In 1997, Alexander & Alexander was bought by the Aon Corporation of Chicago, which through a series of acquisitions has become the world's second-largest insurance broker, after the Marsh & McLennan Companies of New York. ....

Dunne's fascination isn't limited to the elegant genealogy. Moseley's husband, Christopher, confessed he hired Murillo and two others to murder Margello. He testified he didn't approve of the drug-addicted prostitute's relationship with MacGuigan....

"I've been interested in the case from the first day I read about it," Dunne said. "I used to vaguely know Lisa Dean Moseley and her first husband, the father of Dean MacGuigan, E. Haring Chandor. They were very colorful characters in New York in the 1950s."

Well, that's somewhat interesting but the connections remain unclear. Yet in response to the question about whether the CIA 'sheep-dipped' LHO, the question must still center around the starting time of the 'sheep-dip'.

Jim Garrison's starting time is the most likely candidate - it started in April, 1963, when LHO moved to New Orleans. The entire purpose of LHO's journey to New Orleans was to get sheep-dipped -- i.e. to create appearances to convince the public that LHO was a militant Officer of the FPCC, and nothing more or less.

This phony persona would be useful for both (1) sneaking LHO into Cuba to hit Castro; and (2) making him the patsy in a plot to hit JFK. That made LHO a very useful asset; well worth the money.

Now - given that definition of 'sheep-dipping,' the question now becomes whether the CIA did this. We know from both sound and video recordings that the two closest participants in this 'sheep-dip' process were (i) Carlos Bringuier of the DRE; and (ii) Edward Butler of the INCA. We know this because Ed Butler, a propaganda specialist and organizer for 'Radio Free Cuba', and Carlos Bringuier, the new wave of Cuban Exile militants, joined LHO on radio and TV.

Next, we know that both the DRE and INCA were handsomely funded by the CIA. The CIA provided most of INCA's funds, and perhaps 10% of DRE funds.

Therefore -- by this direct, local, August 1963 information alone (and defining 'sheep-dip' as above) we can affirm with certainty that the CIA was clearly involved in the 'sheep-dipping' of LHO.

They were involved in the mode of approvals and of funding. Did it go further than that?

CIA officer David Atlee Phillips was seen with LHO in Dallas by Cuban Exile militant Antonio Veciana around this time-frame. The purpose of the meeting was unclear even to Veciana. It was some sort of 'dangle'. Perhaps it was a covert photo-op to compromise Veciana in the future. We don't know, yet again here is the CIA participating in LHO's sheep-dip period.

It remains unclear how much further the story goes -- yet at minimum we can affirm that the CIA was involved in the sheep-dip of LHO from April 1963 through September 1963, after which LHO was handed over to the Dallas conspiracy to do with as they desired.

Yes, Lee would spend hours by himself in his room, but we know now that he was developing photographs for prospective spy work, or writing secret codes in beginner's binary scripts and glow boxes; and that this was for the benefit of OTHERS.

Oswald was no loner, and that poor soul lived his 24 years full of adventure and around numerous friends from around the world.

We seem to agree on the basics, Peter, i.e. Lee Harvey Oswald was a complex person who moved in US intelligence circles. Yet we might differ on the details. The level and depth of Oswald's interaction with US intelligence seems to me to be preliminary and shallow. Oswald wanted to be inside, but the US intelligence community kept him at an arms distance.

Oswald was not allowed to become a full-fledged member of US intelligence, IMHO, because he was insubordinate -- he was tired of being pushed around all his life, having lived in an orphanage as a baby, and growing up without a father. He had big plans and dreams for himself, i.e. even though he could not spell English well, he could still teach himself the Russian language.

Evidently he was a capable radar operator, and a capable code-breaker and code-maker. Evidently he was a capable photographer and forger of false ID cards. But he never made it inside. He was always fighting to get in.

One reason for this was that Lee Harvey Oswald was prone to boast. He liked to talk -- he liked to write -- he liked to show off everything that he knew. (George De Mohrenschildt noted this about Oswald in his Warren Commission testimony; and George always said Oswald was a patsy.) This tendency goes against the rules of US intelligence participation.

For example, when John Stockwell decided to talk, as shown in the YouTube video that you posted, he had to quit the CIA.

So, Oswald was smart -- but he wasn't that smart. He was still young. He was still prone to be manipulated. That's how he was sheep-dipped.

We also might differ on my core theory -- that the CIA did not have an opinion one way or another about sheep-dipping Oswald -- and the people who cared very seriously about sheep-dipping Oswald were not in the CIA (but were known and watched by the CIA).

So, my conclusion is that the CIA did not sheep-dip Oswald (although they stood by and let it happen, partly through agencies that they had long funded, like the DRE and INCA). The active partners in the sheep-dipping process were those most closely associated with 544 Camp Street in New Orleans.

The OH-ffiicial story is that Priscilla Mary Post Johnson applied for work at the CIA but was deemed to have an unsatisfactory background despite her claimed early contacts with CIA personnel director F. Trubee Davison and with Cord Meyer.

The CIA intended the HSCA to swallow its position that the CIA was very selective and Johnson simply knew the wrong sort of

operations, and were fearful of becoming nothing more than a

support base for SOE. Huntington al-o wanted to establish

lines by parachute. Once these groups began working with

the resistance, weapons and other supplies would need to be

delivered by air. Accordingly, SO's Air Operations Section

was established and the London mission requested that OSS

headquarters in Washington send an officer to head it.

Major Brewer made arrangements for the section chief, upon

his arrival, to work with the head of SOE's air section.

With the creation of the air section came the need

for aircraft. The task of acquiring airplanes fell to an

OSS officer in London named Commander Junius S. Morgan.23

In a cable to Donovan on 6 February 1943, Morgan suggested

that OSS attempt to obtain a dozen B-24 'Liberator'

aircraft. These, he wrote, should be specially modified

versions of the bomber to be used for dropping agents and

supplies to resistance groups. This mission, he added,

would also require specially trained and dedicated crews.

Morgan explained that among the benefits to be gained from

possession of this squadron would be the leverage it would

give SO London in dealing with SOE. SOE was engaged in

constant competition with SIS for scarce air assets.

Norfolk House, St. James's Square, in London.23 In

accordance with agreements on the organization of COSSAC,

the British chief of staff was to be backed up by an

American deputy chief of staff. The Americans appointed

Brigadier General Ray W. Barker, Deputy Chief of Staff,

ETOUSA, to be General Morgan's deputy.2 6 While serving as

Deputy COSSAC under Morgan, Barker continued to fill a

position at ETOUSA, once again as the Assistant Chief of

Staff, G-5.2 7

Barker, then, was in a key position to not

only recommend approval of the concept, but also to back SO

in their quest for greater participation in projects such as

the Jedburghs.

The American special operations staff also received

support from Lieutenant General Andrews. The American

theater commander and an entourage of brass visited SOE's

Tempsford airfield and Station 61, a packing station, on 20

March. Accompanying Andrews were 8th USAAF commander, Major

General Eaker, General Barker, SOE's Major General Gubbins,

OSS London chief Lieutenant Colonel David Bruce and SO's

Major Brewer. The staff at Tempsford provided these

officers a demonstration of aerial supply of resistance

groups. Generals Andrews and Eaker later visited the SOE/SO

Operations Room at Norgeby House.28 Commander Junius

Morgan, we recall, had forwarded an 'in house' request for a

squadron of aircraft for OSS London earlier in 1943. This

request was sanctioned by the theater commander following

the visit to Tempsford.

Perhaps based upon what he saw there, General

Andrews, in early April, asked OSS London to prepare a

memorandum requesting a squadron of aircraft for use by

SOE/SO.2 9 In early May, the Planning Section drafted a

paper entitled, "Aircraft for Special Operations in North-

Western Europe". This document explained the complete

dependence of the resistance on supplies delivered by air

and requested a squadron of American aircraft for this

purpose. The request was submitted, over Colonel Bruce's

signature, to the new theater commander, Lieutenant General

Jacob L. Devers, on 5 May.

....The following week, there were two important

personnel changes within SO London. On the 11th of May,

Captain Canfield became Planning Officer for SO. His work

with the Western European Section was finished.4 2

OSS

ETOUSA also acquired a new head of special operations in

May. It should be remembered that Major Brewer had been

designated Acting Chief, SO London, in January 1943. He was

relieved of this job when the permanent branch chief,

Lieutenant Colonel Charles S. Vanderblue, a signal corps

officer, assumed that position on 15 May. Brewer became

Executive Officer of the branch.

In late May 1943, SOE drafted a paper which detailed

their projected personnel requirements for implementation of

the Jedburgh plan. Like the Americans, the British proposal

called for 35 Jedburgh teams as their share of the total

reserve of 70 teams. To man these 35 teams, SOE recommended

that 70 men be recruited from the British Home Forces. The

remaining 35 men should be provided by the Free French or

another Allied government. In addition SOE proposed to

train and provide 90 officers and men to perform liaison

duties with staffs of British field organizations.

was based on a general concept of how such teams might be

employed in the field. For this concept to evolve into a

thorough plan, COSSAC had to give the planners at SOE/SO

When I first tried to contact Priscilla McMillan in the fall of 1987 in Cambridge by phone after initially writing to her, I was informed that she was temporarily living in Santa Fe at a hotel, doing research on a new book. I was able to contact her there and had an interesting conversation with her, although she would not indicate what her book was about. I have learned from Michael Eddowes that it is a biography of Robert Oppenheimer, who spent much of his career at Los Alamos near Santa Fe. ...

....In her interview with The Christian Science Monitor, more details of this newly troubled Oswald emerge. PJM said that he was intensely bitter at the United States, that he displayed single-mindedness about "whatever he was attempting to do" and that he was bitter about capitalism and worker exploitation. In her Harper's article she added even more pop psychology in her profile: "Oswald yearned to go down in history as the man who shot the President." To explain why, if that was his intent, he then denied the act she wrote that he had a need to think "of himself as extraordinary" and "to be caught, but not to confess."

If this sounds very similar to what the Warren Commission's explanation of Oswald was, it should. For right after the article appeared she did two things. She first signed a rather large contract with Harper and Row to do a biography of Oswald with help from his widow Marina. Second, she arrived in Dallas to meet Marina and spent much of the summer and fall with her and her Secret Service escorts. This in itself is extraordinary because Marina Oswald was one of the chief witnesses before the Commission and as Harold Weisberg and Peter Scott have reported, she was basically cordoned off from the world and threatened with deportation if she did not cooperate with their wishes. Yet, Priscilla was permitted to live with Marina during the summer and fall of 1964 when the Commission was still working and even accompanied her on a trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico.

One of the most fascinating interviews the Commission had with Marina occurred on September 6, 1964 at the U. S. Naval Station in Dallas. Two things occurred here that relate to Priscilla. First, Marina revealed that she was working on her memoirs which would be published perhaps in December. This alludes to her book deal with PJM and Harper and Row. The second point is of such extreme importance to the Commission and to Priscilla's role with it that it requires some background information.

In September, the Commission was in high gear on its road to wrapping things up. In fact, at this stage, as related by Edward Epstein, the lawyers had been told that they should be closing doors not opening them. Yet Senator Richard Russell was a sticking point. He was a skeptic on both the single bullet theory and on Oswald's mysterious trip to Mexico in September and October of 1963. He was actually threatening not to sign off on the Warren Report. Russell noted that in regard to the latter point, the Commission had little or no physical evidence that Oswald had been to Mexico City. So, miraculously, at this late stage, at one of the few hearings that Russell actually attended, an amazing discovery occurred. Marina reported that a bus ticket stub had been found inside a Spanish magazine and she further stated that she had "found the stub of this ticket approximately two weeks ago when working with Priscilla Johnson on the book." What the FBI, CIA, Dallas Police, Ruth and Michael Paine, and the Secret Service could not produce in ten months, Priscilla Johnson could find in a matter of several weeks, and seemingly by accident.

After the Warren Commission volumes were released in late 1964, one would have expected Priscilla to publish her book on the Oswalds. She did not......

In 1943, Colonel George S. Brewer of the OSS developed plans for guerrilla operations in Norway,

involving the 99th Infantry Battalion, a special unit composed of Norwegian-Americans who were

undergoing arctic combat training in Iceland. Neither the British nor the Norwegian authorities

welcomed American interference in the already complicated situation, however, and they effectively

joined forces to scuttle Brewer's project.980 The Americans did, however, obtain considerable influence in the overall direction of northern operations. Commander Unger Vetlesen, head of OSS's Norwegian desk, joined the ANCC in March 1943. The SOE and OSS established a combined section in London in September of that year, and in January 1944 the two agencies officially combined their Norwegian sections, with Vetlesen remaining the American representative. The British successfully resisted American “interference” in Norwegian operations until the fall of

1943, when Colonel Joseph Haskell took command of the SO Branch in London and Dr. Hopper relinquished his own position to Wilho Tikander, his second-in-command. The new leadership convinced the British to accept an American Special Operations unit in Stockholm, the Westfield Mission.79 The SO commander was 43-year-old George Brewer, Jr., a former Yale English teacher who had become a successful Broadway playwright.g SOE grudgingly concluded an operational pact with Brewer's unit. OSS would work in northern Norway (near the Russian border) and would not interfere with British activities in the south. In London, an OSS representative was added to the Anglo-Norwegian Collaboration Committee, which directed resistance activities, and Commander George Unger Vetlesen, a Norwegian-American millionaire (and good friend of the exiled King) was wisely appointed to head the Norwegian desk of SO Branch in Grosvenor Square. But the British then placed new hurdles in the OSS path. Bernt Balchen, a Norwegian-born Arctic explorer and airplane ace, was recruited to command the OSS supply operation to northern Norway in January 1944. He was promptly faced with a flat British refusal to allow his unmarked planes to fly out of British landing fields. He protested that the Norwegian exile government had approved the project. A British officer replied tartly, “As a matter of fact, isn't Norway one of our colonies?”80

“The general feeling,” Balchen concluded, “seems to be that we have no damn business in that neck of the woods.”81 But the fiery pilot was not willing to stop there. He took his case to his old friend

Trygve Lie, the Foreign Minister of the Norwegian exile government, who then carried the issue to No. 10 Downing Street. In March 1944, by the personal order of Churchill, Balchen finally received

permission to proceed with his operations. In April he began an airlift between Britain and Stockholm, evacuating Norwegian and other anti- Nazi refugees to London. Two months later, his team of sixty planes began its first supply mission to Norway. Hundreds of tons of weapons, ammunition, ex- plosives, food, and medicine were dropped to the guerrillas. Still another dispute with the British came at the end of 1944 when OSS decided to send an Operational Group to Norway to impede German railway movements. Most of the men were Norwegian-Americans, all trained paratroopers and skiers. ... with a certain amount of suspicion on both sides, soon became very intimate indeed. By 1943 an O.S.S. mission had appeared in Stockholm, under the command of George Brewer junior, who seemed to most of us to have just about every quality that one would hope for in an American gentleman, if the use of an old-fashioned word may be allowed. Brewer was also a playwright of distinction. Those who did not see his Dark Victory on the stage in New York, where it was immensely successful, may remember the moving performance of Bette Davis in the film version. Brewer had no difficulties where Norway and Denmark were concerned. Although at first O.S.S. showed a natural tendency to wish to go its own way, the solid Danish and Norwegian resistance movements which S.O.E. had nurtured for the past three years could not be ignored and must be used. Germany was a very different affair, since it was virtually virgin soil for both organizations, and O.S.S. lost no time in seeking to recruit agents for work in that country. They did not go about the job as discreetly as they might have done, since it was not long before we began to get reports from our own trustworthy sources that members of the American Legation's staff had been observed in the company of a number of doubtful and more than doubtful people about whom we possessed a good deal of information, little of it to their advantage. In particular, our report said, Americans were apt to go to the Regnbagen (Rainbow) Restaurant, in Stureplan, one of the central points of Stockholm, and there to meet, with the best intentions in the world, a fairly unsavoury collection of hangers-on. That the Americans should have resorted to Regnbagen was understandable, if unwise. The restaurant, expensive, garish, decorated, as might have been expected from its name, in all the colours of the spectrum, was a favourite resort of the German Legation. Its owner made no secret of his Nazi sympathies, and we strongly suspected that the place was heavily, though discreetly, wired for sound by the Gestapo. It was not easy to decide how to warn O.S.S. without giving offence. Finally we commissioned a contact, who was an expert with very small miniature cameras, to take some snapshots of our American colleagues in the company of one or two of their less desirable acquaintances. The pictures were taken and sent to George Brewer, accompanied by a brief biography of the people who were shown in them to be making the most of American hospitality. George was horrified, and we suggested that it might make things easier all round if we showed him our files of worthless but predatory and dangerous would-be agents. When he had studied the file George was more disconsolate than ever. " But look," he said, " these names here are just about all the contacts we've got, on the German side. We haven't been in touch with some of them yet, but we had hopes of them." " Abandon hope," we counselled, " and if it is any consolation we may say that we have been here for three years and have so far failed to find a single really reliable man to go into Germany. We're both in the same boat, and if we can do anything to help, just let us know." This was the beginning of a close and fruitful collaboration. At all events, O.S.S. went to work with a will. The cover which they provided for some of the members of the mission might seem, to us hidebound British, sometimes a little bizarre, but it worked. One of our most charming colleagues, for example, was Miss Mab Wilson-Wright. She had been an associate editor of Vogue, and her ostensible job in Stockholm was that of" Fashion attache." This job she filled admirably. She had the looks and the knowledge to sell American fashions, via the couturiers and the large stores of Stockholm, and she did so. What she did, apart from that, I do not know, but she was an acknowledged member of O.S.S. , and an officially recognized colleague within the small circle of the two organizations. In any case, I would be ready to bet that Mab did whatever she was required to do with the utmost efficiency and aplomb. I judge that her work somehow brought her into contact with Denmark, since, as the war ended, she married Bobby Moltke, an extremely aristocratic member of the Danish Resistance Movement. I can only say that the Danish noblesse thereby acquired, in their American countess, a very considerable asset indeed. The American Minister, Herschel Johnson, may have been a little bemused by some of the additions to his staff which he was required to accept. If so he did not, as a career diplomat, give any indication of his alarm, any more than did our own Minister. Mr Herschel Johnson was an eighteenth-century figure, in the best sense of that term. Immensely well-read, a lover of music and wine and good food, extremely astute, he seemed, at least to an outsider, to preside with great firmness and dignity over his bloated legation. I dined with him quite often, and these were memorable occasions, which the passage of years has not dimmed. We should have been less than human if we had not fretted at our apparent inability to strike, in however modest a fashion, at our chief target. Patience, though, is one of the virtues which anybody who has anything to do with intelligence work must, at all costs, cultivate. I had been told in London that on no account must the German Section undertake any rash operations. It would be far better to wait until the right chance presented itself than to try to create opportunities before they really existed. Our sources of more or less reliable information increased week by week, and both Janet and I were confident that sooner or later we should we should make a strike which would reward our patience. In the meanwhile we made ourselves as useful as possible. One of our first acquisitions, made soon after I arrived in Stockholm, was a small printing-press. This machine was able to reproduce any document or photograph by the offset process in large quantities and at great speed. We were flattered to learn that Baker Street had, yielding to our importunity, snatched this press from under the very nose of Mr Winston Churchill, who had had his own designs on it,since it was the only machine of its kind in the country. We felt a little guilty at having deprived the Prime Minister of a new toy, but our need was very great. We already had, in the basement of the legation, a small hand-press, a very varied selection of type, and a young printer, Mr Clarke, whose cheerfulness and willingness was never impaired by the mole-like existence which he was obliged to lead. Now, assuming that we could match our paper with that of the original, we should be able to produce, at very short notice, a plausible facsimile of any document of which we possessed one genuine copy. Fortunately Sweden makes paper in almost infinite variety, and matching never presented any great difficulty. The propaganda potentialities of the little press seemed almost limitless. Our new equipment had hardly been delivered when an opportunity of testing its effectiveness in a modest but entertaining manner presented itself. The German Legation in Stockholm published a monthly magazine called Der Deutsche in Schweden (The German in Sweden). This periodical was intended to circulate only within the large German colony, but we were among its most devoted readers. Often the social gossip and carefully censored news of arrivals and departures provided us with clues which were extremely useful. It is worth remarking, incidentally, that the study of newspapers, and particularly of local newspapers, is an important part of routine intelligence work. I recall a case, which was only one among thousands such, in which an advertisement offering a reward for the return of a lost dog, which appeared in an obscure North German weekly newspaper, enabled our " order of battle " experts to locate an enemy division which had apparently vanished from the earth, and whose whereabouts was a matter of some concern to the War Office. On this occasion The German in Sweden gave us a chance of combining amusement with instruction. A half-page advertisement announced that a company of actors, fresh from a successful season in Berlin and led by the notable light comedian, Georg Alexander, would present in Stockholm the comedy Der Elfte an der Reihe, or, to employ a very loose translation, The Eleventh Man, an entertainment which had no connexion with the film, The Third Man, later made by Sir Carol Reed. The company sponsored by the Organization of Germans Abroad, of which Bradford-born Gauleiter Bohle was the titular head, was to play for three performances only, and admission would be limited strictly to members of the German community in Stockholm. Tickets might be obtained from the German Legation. We tried very hard to get a ticket, but all our sources failed us. So we were driven to imagining what a ticket might look like, and we finally produced a design which seemed to us extremely convincing. Three thousand rectangles of white pasteboard were printed, and, in order that they might look the more impressive, were serially numbered. We then composed a letter, purporting to be signed by the German Press attache, and sent a copy, with two tickets attached, to 1500 of the prominent Swedish Nazis and Nazi supporters whose names we kept in one of our dossiers. The covering letter warmly invited the recipient, in the name of the German Minister, to attend a gala performance of Der Elfte an der Reihe, to which the enclosed tickets would secure admission. White tie and tails, with decorations, would be the order of the day for those who owned such garments, but a dinner-jacket or dark suit was a permissible alternative. It was quite unnecessary, the Press attache assured his guests, to acknowledge his communication. Anyone who was unable to make use of the tickets, which were for the first of the three performances, was urged to pass them on to a friend whose devotion to Hitler's cause was equal to his own. The first snow of winter was, fortunately, falling as Janet took up her post in the window of a flat which overlooked the entrance to Borgarskolan, in whose auditorium Herr Alexander and his company were to perform. The scene, as the time for " curtain-up " approached, was gratifyingly chaotic. The German colony had turned out in full force to support their Minister, Hans Thomsen, and to applaud the talented visitors from Berlin. ...In effect, Allen Dulles had rubber-stamped the transfer of a sizeable portion of Nazi Germany's assets by the S S . Thanks to his unique position he was empowered to abort any investigation, by his own employees, of his actions. It was like asking a detective to solve a murder he had committed. American embarrassment was to become acute, when, shortly after hostilities had ceased, Colonel Bernard Bernstein, Chief of the Financial Division of the US Military Government, found a cache of six boxes of Bosch files hidden in 6T Ablagen, a shelter in the mountains near Stuttgart. These exposed the detailed involvement of both Dulles brothers, as well as that of George Murnane.35 The correspondence between the US Treasury and the US State Department gives us the first insight into the extent of British involvement in cloaking Nazi assets. Up to that point numerous US Treasury reports had condemned the Enskilda Bank and the Wallenbergs out of hand, implying that the British were heavily and secretly involved. After Colonel Bernstein's discovery, Ivan Olsen of the US Treasury met with John Foster Dulles, and suddenly the previously belligerent US Treasury were expressing the need for caution, especially since 'We would never get Britain's concurrence in the blacklisting of this bank'.36 But FBI Chief Hoover could scent the blood of his arch-rival Allen Dulles. His fury increased when he found out that Dulles had asked Sir Charles Hambro, his British brokering partner-in- crime, to write a letter to President Truman falsely claiming that the Wallenbergs were pro-British and had not been involved in profitable activities in Germany during the war. Sir Charles Hambro had shared much with Marcus Wallenberg (including Wallenberg's ex-wife), and willingly obliged. Hambro held IG Farben shares in conjunction with Standard Oil, and had helped Marcus Wallenberg cloak the I G Farben shares held by the Enskilda Bank. Here was a British financier with American and Canadian interests, implicated in international collaboration with the Wallenberg and Dulles brothers, the facilitators of Himmler's scheme. Cheekily, Hambro even used the British SOE to send his personal financial representative, SOE agent John McCaffrey, to work with Allen Dulles in Bern, at a time when the SOE had no official role in Europe." Unfortunately for the conspirators, Hoover had just finished investigating the affairs of the finance house ofj. P. Morgan and the National City Bank, both beneficiaries of Marcus Wallenberg's dealings. Hoover rapidly countered by declaring Wallenberg to be nothing more than a paid agent of the Reichsbank. Under renewed FBI pressure, the US Treasury reversed their stance yet again and officially asked for the Enskilda Bank to be blacklisted. True to form, the British refused. The fury behind the scenes continued unabated. General Lucius Clay, in charge of the American Occupied Zone in post-war Germany, called for Marcus and Jacob Wallenberg to be prosecuted as war criminals. (Clay was hardly in a position to seek the moral high ground, having used his personal plane to fly out stolen art treasures from Germany to Miami.) The US Treasury took action, initiating a case against the Wallenbergs at Nuremberg - only to see this stopped by John Foster Dulles in the U S State Department. Even as open warfare raged between Hoover and the Dulles brothers, and all attention was centred on the wartime activities of the Wallenbergs, particularly Marcus, the King of England stepped in. At what proved to be a most opportune moment, George VI honoured Marcus Wallenberg, making him a Knight of St Michael and St George. This sign of royal interest effectively silenced any further argument.

I do not vouch for the accuracy of the details directly above authored by Walter Hugh Thomas, aka W. Hugh Thomas, but they are interesting and show disagreement between the goals at the end of WWII of Lt. Col. George E. Brewer vs. those of the Dulles brothers, et al.

I included such a large excerpt from SOE chief of the British Legation in Stockholm Ewan Butler because Butler published the book with those details in 1963, when close scrutiny by U.S. government officials and by journalists might have mattered much more. We can assume Ewan Butler taught his friend Brewer, Jr. all about spycraft. Brewer, Jr. was capable of playing a role in recruiting and running his son-in-law's cousin, Priscilla Johnson, and possibly Oswald. If Priscilla has been serious about seeking to join CIA and CIA serious in its claims she was deemed unsuitable despite her linguistic skills, why wouldn't here link to David Coit Davenport and his relation, Brewer, Jr., have been enough to overcome CIA objections?

Why were Johnson and cousin Davenport approved by the SS, WC, FBI, CIA, ONI, and DIA to sequester Marina Oswald in New Mexico in 1964?

The relationships and other details in this post and the one before it provide answers to fifty year old questions . Now we know that Priscilla Johnson included her first cousin David Coit Davenport in the 1964 sequestering of Marina Oswald and we know of Davenport's father-in-law, Brewer's activities and contacts during WWII. 15. In Marina and Lee, there is a photo of Priscilla and Marina taken by David C. Davenport, who is referred to as Priscilla's "cousin" in the acknowledgement section. According to the caption next to the photos, they were taken in Santa Fe, where they were provided "a haven during the unquiet weeks of September and October, 1964, just after the Warren Report was issued."

When I first tried to contact Priscilla McMillan in the fall of 1987 in Cambridge by phone after initially writing to her, I was informed that she was temporarily living in Santa Fe at a hotel, doing research on a new book. I was able to contact her there and had an interesting conversation with her, although she would not indicate what her book was about. I have learned from Michael Eddowes that it is a biography of Robert Oppenheimer, who spent much of his career at Los Alamos near Santa Fe. ...

Highly doubtful. After speaking with Priscilla Johnson i got a clear impression that she's wildly over-rated as a spy. Writers project wild fantasies onto her.

Most of what Priscilla Johnson wrote can be gleaned directly from Warren Commission testimony. She didn't invent a thing. She was and remains staunchly conservative -- she would never contradict the US government as she knew it in 1964. She simply repeated the official line, and once that was done, she never wavered from it, for fear of contradicting herself.

After the HSCA findings of 1979, all her conclusions about the Lone Nut gunman became obsolete.

Since Priscilla Johnson did nothing more than repeat to the world in readable English exactly what Marina Oswald already told the world in the pages of her Warren Commission testimony, it is reaching to try to find anything clandestine or spooky in Priscilla Johnson's writings.

Marina Oswald was and remains her own person. She told the truth to the Warren Commission (once she calmed down and took the oath). Many object to Marina Oswald's portrait of Lee Harvey Oswald, yet it is realistic -- believable -- and shows Lee to be a wife-beating commoner. This goes against the theories of some JFK researchers who wish to portray Lee Oswald as an innocent victim of the Establishment -- or perhaps even a whistle-blower. Not a chance.

Lee wasn't innocent. And he was up to his neck in associations with Guy Banister, David Ferrie, Carlos Bringuier, Ed Butler, Loran Hall, Larry Howard, Gerry Patrick Hemming, George De Mohrenshildt and ex-General Edwin Walker. Believable theories, IMHO, also connect Lee Harvey Oswald with Frank Sturgis, E. Howard Hunt, Antonio Veciana, David Atlee Philips, Eladio Del Valle, and many more of that ilk.

In 1978, the HSCA grew wary of Marina’s highly questionable testimony. They

collected all of her statements to the FBI, Secret Service, Warren Commission and HSCA and

said it was like reading a nightmare. They actually drew up a secret report on the matter entitled

“Marina Oswald Porter’s Statements of a Contradictory Nature.” The list of contradictory

statements ran on for 29 pages. Several of the pages were on the Walker incident. The report

concluded they could not agree with the Warren Commission on Oswald’s involvement in the

Walker incident simply because of the credibility issue involving Marina. (ibid p. 520)

Bugliosi defends Marina’s role as chief witness by attacking Sylvia Meagher’s attempt

to show the conflicts in her testimony (Bugliosi p. 351, Meagher pgs 238-241) But Meagher

spends only four pages on the issue. The HSCA spent twenty-nine. In light of that, plus what I

have pointed out here, any defense of Marina’s testimony today is simply ill-founded.

Public testimony before the HSCA began Sept. 6, 1978, following an opening statement by Congressman Richardson Preyer of North Carolina and the first "chapter" of periodic narration by Robert Blakey, chief counsel to the committee. A cross section of witnesses, political figures and technical experts testified throughout the month including Marina Oswald Porter, who appeared in the public spotlight on Sept. 13 and 14.(4) Unlike in 1964, Mrs. Porter no longer needed a translator.

A large number of questions related to Marina's ongoing association with Priscilla Johnson McMillan, who herself had testified in closed session the previous year. Mrs. Porter began by describing how she first met Miss Johnson after rejecting a written request to coauthor a book, when the writer arrived at her doorstep (despite the fact that Marina was under Secret Service protection and FBI scrutiny.) Through her business manager, James Martin (whom she later fired), Marina had received numerous offers, but until she met Miss Johnson, felt uneasy about the idea of the "shameful position" she was in. She indicated to the committee that she liked Miss Johnson because of "her intelligence," along with "the way she spoke Russian beautifully," and the fact that she had lived in the Soviet Union. She was asked if Miss Johnson had mentioned having worked for the CIA, or if the CIA was ever discussed such as in connection with Lee, but Marina could not recall any reference having been made. Marina also couldn't remember any details about the bus ticket found in 1964 during Miss Johnson's interviews, verifying Oswald's bus trip to Mexico City (which James Hosty later described having looked at while at Dallas police headquarters on Monday, Nov. 25, 1963.)(5)

Mrs. Porter was asked if she and Priscilla were still close friends; she not only answered "yes" but revealed that she had seen Mrs. McMillan as recently as the night before her testimony, certainly suggesting the possibility that Marina had been "coached" in preparation for her testimony. In response to a question dealing with the possibility that her husband worked for "a U.S. Intelligence agency"(6) (not necessarily the CIA), Mrs. Porter again mentioned Mrs. McMillan in attempting to describe her late husband's secretive nature:

"Well, knowing Lee as little as I know of him and the unpredictable steps he would take ... I cannot say anything he might do ...
when I was working with Priscilla there was so little I knew of him
, I think as secretive as he was I would be surprised if he would take orders or be confiding (to) somebody. I doubt it. I don't know.

After briefly discussing leaflets handed out by Oswald in New Orleans (which had the address of an anti-Castro group on them, associated with Guy Banister, despite the fact that the leaflets encouraged "Fair Play For Cuba"), Mrs. Porter was asked again about the bus ticket and whether she had discussed the subject with Mrs. McMillan the night before. In reply she stated:

"Me and Mrs. McMillan did not discuss what questions the committee might ask, what to say, what not to say. The conversation was very personal."

At this point, Mr. Cornwell of the committee took over from Mr. Wolf, and once again, referred to Mrs. McMillan, wondering if, in their discussions the previous evening, "anything about the committee's work" had been mentioned. According to Marina, she let Mrs. McMillan know that she was "very scared" [of what?] and was asked by Priscilla if she liked her lawyer and to describe him. Another committee member interjected at this point, suggesting that this portion of the testimony not be included in the record. Cornwell resumed his interest in the conversation with Priscilla, wondering if they had discussed "anything about other witnesses who may have appeared before the committee (or) about the subject matter of our inquiry." Once again, Marina replied that "Priscilla never told me what she was asked here and I do not want to know. I do not jeopardize her reputation by even asking questions even though how curious I would be." (Although Marina evidently didn't know the content of Priscilla's earlier testimony, she as least did know that Priscilla had appeared before the committee.)

Cornwell referred back to 1964 when Marina first met Priscilla at which time they agreed to work on a book together, and was asked if she had any "control ... over the final form that the book might take as to the accuracy of it."(9) In response, Marina admitted having confided in Priscilla and then elaborated:

"Well, I trust Priscilla well enough or I would not start the job. The book was not designed to make something entertainment or just to make money. It was a therapeutic thing for me as well as I tried to explain to me or to people somehow-not just me; I just contribute very little to the book.
It was up to Priscilla to fish out all the facts
and everything and put them together some way ... I gave her the right to
use her own judgment because it was her book."

(So much for being a co-author.)

The committee also learned at this point that, although she was given the opportunity to read the manuscript before publication, she did not read it "beforehand," although she indicated having read the finished book "in its entirety." Mrs. Porter felt that the book was accurate in terms of the factual information provided by her, "but some conclusion that she has come to on her own, maybe even analyzing my character, that was up to her to decide..."

Mr. Cornwell continued to dwell on possible differences of opinion between Marina and Priscilla as reflected in the finished product to which Marina replied:

"Well, since

person
[Oswald] is dead and I was not a mature person or a qualified psychiatrist [implying that Priscilla was] to analyze the motives for doing so and so ... you are doing a very hard job putting puzzles together. Priscilla did her best and an honest job of trying to put things in some kind of perspective that a normal [ordinary?] person could understand ... I would buy Priscilla's conclusions. From my own personal experience I did not come up with anything different. Priscilla
did not have the attitude to condemn or pronounce guilty
from the first page, she was just working through the dark as well as I was and everybody else, so I would, in my mind, agree with that conclusion more than the conspiracy theory because I do not know anything about the other matters. I do not know anything about ballistics ... to disprove that Lee didn't do it. I would like that very much but I know so little..."

In respect to certain opinions expressed by Mrs. McMillan, Marina felt somewhat ill-equipped to comment, feeling that "some things were not very meaningful ...she made some opinions from a psychology point of view. I don't know enough about that to make an opinion."(11) Although the committee member attempted to elicit a point of view distinct from the opinions expressed by Mrs. McMillan in her book, Marina continued to defend Priscilla's position:

"Priscilla was in a position to analyze. Maybe somebody will criticize her for being an immature psychiatrist [such as Choice magazine?], but she tried to draw some kind of picture to compare me being without parents and him being without a father that might motivate us to be married to each other, but those traits of character is not up to me to say is right or wrong. I cannot assume that is correct ... The facts were not twisted to fit somebody's theory [Priscilla's?]. I agree with her because she didn't just take my word for it or my opinion on the matter, she compared them with somebody else's statements which were completely unknown to me and somehow the puzzle fit..."

After briefly discussing Oswald's alleged "intelligence ties" that his mother discussed with the media, Cornwell wondered why the book took "so long to get into print." Marina replied:

Well, it is not an easy book to write about, especially when you try to be so accurate and not just to bluff around because it was lots of research ... it is a hard message to deliver ... you don't try just because you have to write so many pages a day, you have to work hard.
Priscilla had personal tragedies in her life which put her [?] in the mood to write.
It was just a long process of working at it ... when Mrs. McMillan approached me she was not concerned about money
[no mention was made about a very large advance from Harper & Row]
... she told me she wants to do a very honest job to try to explain the things why Lee did it for the American people ... I was refusing to do the book but she said at least that much I owe to people to show a little bit of the inside of the person ... I owe this much to history, I guess."

Cornwell also wondered if it was "a mere coincidence that the book has come out during the time period that our committee has been working on it,"(13) and whether they had "discussed the timing of the publication of the book" or "the fact that this would be a good time to publish it?" Marina felt that the timing was simply a coincidence, and thought it was "completely absurd how people can put two and two together." She compared the effort to an artist painting a picture, and although she was aware of a deadline [of 14 years?), "I don't want to push her, because I want a qualitative job." Marina mentioned that Priscilla had, in fact, been "very apologetic (that) it took so long." (In an interview for Publisher's Weekly prior to the release of her book, Mrs. McMillan was quoted as saying that she originally expected to finish the book "within a couple of years of the assassination," but she found it "hard to write of the lives of Marina and Lee without taking them over into my own life. The book almost did me in...")

In a final reference to Miss Johnson by the House Assassinations Committee, Cornwell again returned to the mysterious bus ticket discovered by Marina back in 1964. Mrs. Porter insisted she had not given any thought to it, and couldn't recall discussing it with Mrs. McMillan, even though the episode was mentioned in the book. At this point, the interview shifted to other topics unrelated to Priscilla.

It would appear from the nature of the questions asked, that the committee knew that the two women had seen each other beforehand, and suspected that Mrs. Porter might have been tutored by Mrs. McMillan, who was fourteen years older than Marina. Undoubtedly, the committee planned to compare Marina's statements in regard to her relationship with Priscilla to Mrs. McMillan's own comments a year earlier to check for any inconsistencies....

......In 1988, during the week of the 25th anniversary of events in Dallas, CBS News carried a series of short reports on various aspects of the assassination nightly on Dan Rather's evening report. Choosing the topics must have been an extremely difficult task, with so many to select from. Amongst those broadcast was an interview in Washington D.C. with Priscilla Johnson McMillan, standing in a snowfall reminiscent of her days in Moscow, who once again described her encounter with a young, confused but determined American defector, whom she had interviewed in 1959. Her final recollection of their conversation was a comment that Mrs. McMillan had underlined at some point in the notes that she provided to the Warren Commission, which she had failed to mention in either version of her article on Oswald. But consistent with her later reference to the remark in both the April, 1964 Harper's report and in her 1977 book, it was again edited for maximum effect:

"...I want to give the people of the United States something to think about."

But that's Mrs. McMillan's side of the story, not Oswald's.

De Borchgrave was a 30 year employee of Newsweek and Osborn Elliott was the best man in his wedding and according to Carol Felsenthal, refused repeated requests from Kay Graham to fire De Borchgrave, between 1963 and 1980, when Osborn's successor Lester Bernstein finally dismissed him.

The only "cover up" Priscilla Johnson McMillan described to the HSCA in her 1978 interview was furnished

in the course of presenting her many excuses for the 14 years it took her to finally publish the biography of Marina Oswald.

"And my father died, and what was I supposed, I think it had to be a concealed suicide in '69.... Semi-concealed one...."

On March 30, 1969, the NY Times reported that Priscilla's father Stuart Johnson had, according to his dinner host, James A. Thomas, fallen on the walkway as he was leaving the Thomas residence, appeared dazed after the fall but insisted on driving himself the few miles from Locust Valley to the Johnson residence in Mill Neck. Thomas stated that he called police after Stuart Johnson did not answer his telephone later in the evening. The body of Stuart Johnson, reported dead of natural causes, was found hours later on a golf course a few miles from his home.

Osborn Elliott's sister-in-law happened to be Eleanor Lansing Thomas Elliott and she was the sister of the last man to see Priscilla's father alive, James A. Thomas. When Eleanor was the maid of honor in the wedding of Allen Dulles's daughter, Clover, Eleanor was described in the wedding announcement as a cousin. Eleanor had also worked for John Foster Dulles in the mid 1950's. Eleanor is described in her recent obituary as a close friend of CIA asset, Gloria Steinem....

A recent letter from Ted Rockwell on the Apr. 5 PAW story on "Father" Haig '41, and his Princeton Sunday News, reveals just how extensive the '43 involvement was. Ted wrote, "The masthead showed Ward Chamberlain, Maurice Colette, Nick Katzenbach, Dan Schnebly, and me on teh news board; Wilson Pritchett, cartoonist; Richard Rice, Waldo Stockton, and Gene Wetmore on the business board; Roland Beattie and Dave Davenport on the photographic board, with Beattie double-listed as picture engraver. Quite a class project!"

Katzenbach and Priscilla's first cousin, Dave Davenport were not the only members Princeton '43 of interest to this study. Let's not forget this distinguished member and the fact that Priscilla's father Stuart was thought to be a victim of a concealed suicide phoned in by the brother of the maid of honor in this member of the class of 43's wedding.:

As for your first question, Tom, I openly admit that all those loyal to the Warren Commission were less than candid with the American people -- and that was by design and they never denied it. The reason for the Warren Commission deception -- and it was openly deceptive -- was honestly stated -- namely, National Security.

The message was clear to everybody with common sense -- The Warren Commission knew the truth but was never going to tell the American people for reasons of National Security. This was made blatantly obvious by the fact that the FBI files on Lee Harvey Oswald (among other critical documents) were scheduled to be released to the American people in 75 years after the death of JFK -- in 2038.

That, all by itself, is an open admission of the fact -- the Warren Commission was not going to tell us the truth. Period. Get over it. The US government -- our government -- decided that the American people could not handle the truth. That is, the truth would have jeopardized National Security. How? They would not say -- because that would have been a hint that would have given the secret away.

Why did Nicholas Katzenbach call Jim Garrison "a complete nut?" Not because Jim was way off the scent of the JFK assassins -- on the contrary -- Jim Garrison was hot on the trail of the assassins. Rather, Katzenbach called Garrison a "nut" because he continued to put pressure on the US government and at the same time claimed that he was loyal to the US government -- that he was a great patriot. Well, if Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren said that the truth about the JFK assassination was a matter of National Security, how could Jim Garrison consider himself patriotic by publicly calling Earl Warren a bald faced xxxx?

As for your second question -- why did I call Priscilla Johnson -- I called her because I was writing a screen play using the 1993 book by Ron Lewis, entitled, Flashback: The Untold Story of Lee Harvey Oswald, as my model. What Ron's book lacks, unfortunately, is the love interest, i.e. the dramatic element provided by a female relationship. So, I called Priscilla Johnson to ask for her permission to use excerpts from her 1977 book, Marina and Lee, to supplement Ron Lewis' account.

She turned me down. Priscilla Johnson insists that her name never be used in connection with any theory that suggests that Lee Harvey Oswald was anything other than a Lone Nut Gunman. This is not because she found more evidence or proof after the Warren Commisison -- on the contrary -- she knows utterly nothing more than was presented in the Warren Commission volumes, and she deliberately shut out any and all newer information, including the Jim Garrison investigation and the HSCA investigation.

She insists on the Lone Nut theory solely and only because she is loyal to the Warren Commission. She built her writing career on that loyalty. She will never waver from that, come hell or high water.

What was the truth that the Warren Commission and Nicholas Katzenbach held back from us? What would have been so risky to National Security fifty years ago? I think it is finally becoming obvious -- it was the political fact that the racist rightwing in the USA was behind the JFK murder. If that had been known in 1963, it would have started a new Civil War. And in the middle of the Cold War, that would have been fatal to the USA. If that is correct then Earl Warren (along with Hoover and LBJ) surely made the right decision.

I don't believe it's so risky anymore, fifty years later. Because the USSR bit the dust in 1990, the global threat posed by the Cold War is a thing of the past. I think now, finally, the time has come to see all the records of Lee Harvey Oswald.

I do not post very often. This is because the ego's of many immediately strike out at anything that might not be exactly as they think and call it not valuable or unimportant. What I can say is that the information I have learned by reading the threads and posts of the research community offer a tremendous amount of information that in the big picture help in understanding the conspiracy that killed John Kennedy. I for one find the information that Tom Scully brings to this effort as a diamond in the rough.I am a retired police officer and now a private investigator with 40 years experience now and as an investigator I learned many years ago that you never have enough information. So I thank Tom for his efforts and encourage him to keep digging. It is my belief that one day we will have a much better understanding of the Coup that occured on 11/22/63. And that will be aided by the efforts of all who have investigated this case.

Tom, I welcome the voice of an experienced private detective on the Forum. Yet may I ask - why do you characterize the assassination of JFK as a "Coup," that is, a coup d'etat?

In an authentic coup d'etat, the assassins boldly announce the righteousness of their cause (Sic Semper Tyrannis!) and they carefully spell out their demands or the new rules of the game.

None of that happened with the JFK assassination -- IMHO, the assassins of JFK wanted above all for the USA to invade Cuba and depose the Communist dictator, Fidel Castro. The assassins did not get their way. Nor did they have the manly courage to come out in the open and admit their act of assassination, or why they did it.

Instead, the JFK assassins were like snakes in the grass, sneaking and hiding in dark alleys, and hoped, hoped, hoped, that blaming an alleged Communist for the death of JFK would be enough to move the USA to invade Cuba.

When that failed to happen, the JFK assassins did not press the issue -- they killed Oswald in cold blood using a mentally defective Mafia hit man, and that was the last we ever heard of them.

This is not how a genuine coup d'etat plays out; this was a farce. The USA proved to be too robust to fall for nonsense like that. IMHO, the JFK assassination was a massive miscalculation by some underground paramilitary forces in the USA (forces that always lurk in any modern State) and when it failed, they ran away with their tails between their legs like the yellow cowards they really were.

My interpretation of the details displayed in the two images above is that it was evidently not sufficient to sequester Marina Oswald

at Priscilla's cousin Davenport's home in Santa Fe for three weeks in Sept. - Oct., 1964. The FBI report above describes the next

phase as the dispatch of Davenport's and Priscilla's and Marina's "friend" Jerome Hastings from Santa Fe to collect the two ladies and transport them to Sedona, AZ.

I thought I had encountered enough WWII OSS and military intel connections regarding David Coit Davenport, along with a heavy dose of Rockefeller influence, but I underestimated the commitment (involvement?) of these people and the level of FBI incuriousity as to what was going on, or the blackout of the actual FBI reaction and reporting.

The PAW Princeton class of '40 snippet in the second image displayed above began on the prior page with a report of the wartime activities of classmate Ben Fuller. I happened to recall reading that portion before when I was researching the background of Ben's brother Hod Fuller, described by Peter Janney in his book, "Mary's Mosaic" as a top CIA assassin.

I've included the PAW image here because the details in it support my observation that the son of the IRS Commissioner during prohibition who advocated lining up and shooting bootleggers, Dave Blair, Jr., was interacting in London during WWII with his classmate and brother-in-law, Terry Votichenko. Those two intelligence operatives married Fredrika Tuttle and Helen DAVENPORT Tuttle, daughters of Hollywood director and reformed communist, Frank Wright Tuttle. Fredrika Tuttle Blair divorced Dave Blair before he resumed his role in military intelligence during the Korean Conflict.

It was nearly 20 years before Fredrika married again, in 1967. She became the spouse of a man she wrote that she met in Santa Fe, Jerome Allen Hastings. Hastings and his brother-in-law, Votichenko, long had associations with the Monterey, CA area, and Hasting's principal home was in Carmel by the Sea.

The outcome appears to be that everyone involved lived happily ever after, except JFK, LHO, Marina, and the American people and the victims of their country's hyper militarism and penchant for enforcing privatization of the profits and socialization of the losses.

I won't clutter this with background details, weddings, obits of Blair and his ex-wife, Fredrika and their brother-in-law Votichenko.

Dave Davenport probably introduced Fredrika to Jerome Hastings. Fredrika's sister Helen was the wife of Eisenhower's OSS leader, Votichenko and her middle name was Davenport. BTW, Dave Davenport worked out the logistics and played host on the Santa Fe leg of this sequester of Marina despite the impediment of having moved to Anchorage, AK in March, 1964 after resigning from his V.P. position at the First National Bank of Santa Fe. A PAW article on his Princeton class of '43 reported that he had survived the Anchorage earthquake after taking a position as V.P. of the new Alaska State Development Corp., and his '43 classmate, Dr. Jesse Rodman "Rod" Wilson, Jr. was Davenport's Anchorage landlord.

It almost seems cousin Dave gave himself the flexibility to play host and tour guide. He also evacuated the lower 48 in spring, '64, just as DeMohrenschildt had done almost a year earlier. Less chance of being interrupted or closely observed when you've made a demonstration of removing yourself from the local community but still come and go from there?
