From Mexico City

To Dep. Of State.

Alvorado interrogated and withdrew claim of seeing money pass to Oswald.

Mexico investigation turning cold on Nov. 30.

Context...

Alvarado was a CIA asset used by Phillips to incriminate Oswald with his story...  There were others who tried as well...

PEDRO GUTIERREZ VALENCIA also claimed to have seen Oswald and another get into a Renault and drive off...

72 pages of communications log entries, dated from 11-23-63 (LBJ) looks like a lot of focus on the Congo

85 page Doc., handwritten.

Titled: "Dallas Police Department. Dallas Texas; racketeering and subversive activities. Ruby, Jack; background, racketeering and subversive activity. Organized crime. Matthews, Russell.

In my once-over, I see A lot of information on David Yaras and Lenny Patrick.

David Yaras is very interesting.

I often find that handwritten HSCA "notes" and reproductions have a document that contains all of the typed originals. If anyone finds the original counterpart to this handwritten doc. please share.

P.27

meetings with OC in San Francisco

p.3 informant advised in November 1963 that in September 1963 there was a meeting at the Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco and present was David Yaras, his son Ronald, Leonard Patrick, Louis Tom Dragna, and Nicolo Licata. Dragna is a La Cosa Nostra member and Licata is an underboss of the Cosa Nostra in the LA area. Several weeks later the same group met again and present was Ernest Debs , an LA county supervisor who is a close friend of California Governor Pat Brown and allegedly a pay off man for big people in LA.

Ernest  Debs[1] (February 7, 1904 – March 7, 2002).........

"........a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors from 1958 to 1974."

There are several sections of the recent releases that have massive documents. They are largely untitled, undated, and there is no subject matter indicated.

Here is an example of a section of the Archives release table. This section has many of those kinds of documents....

https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk/release?page=10&sort=asc&order=Agency

Here is an example, a 1600 plus page document, largely regarding the Black Panthers...

https://www.archives.gov/files/research/jfk/releases/docid-32989647.pdf

Nearly 600 pages of civil rights activism, subversives", communists. Reading bits of it, it looks like The FBI was effectively equating blacks and civil rights activists as Communists.

Memorandum regarding Thomas Gettings Buchanan Jr., Author of an article in the "L' Express" press on 3-26-64.

"In this article Buchanan discusses the people in power "in power" in Dallas and states that they had used gangsters as "front men" in assisting in protecting Oswald in that city. Without their concurrence, according to Buchanan, Oswald would never have been able to obtain employment in Dallas. Buchanan describes the members of the Dallas Council as being the wealthy and influential people behind the scenes in that community and states that seven members of The Council represent the cream of the influential citizens of Dallas. In the latter group he mentioned HL hunt, his son Lamar Hunt, as well as Clinton and John Murchinson. Thereafter, Buchanan discusses the background in business dealings of Hunt as well as his relations with General Edward walker in the John Birch society you can also goes into.........."

This part of the document trails-off here. Keep in mind that The Mayor of Dallas is a City Council member, a sort of first among peers. The Mayor of Dallas was CIA agent Earle Cabell, brother of Former CIA Director, Earle Cabell.

I love seeing this. I remember reading - can't recall the book - a paragraph about ASC that ended with a punchline about how "even the Swiss" couldn't find it.
