  1. New NBC-Wall Street Journal poll on how serious the virus is: WASHINGTON — A majority of American voters say they’re worried that someone in their immediate family might catch the coronavirus, and six-in-10 believe the worst is yet to come for the outbreak inside the United States, a new national NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds. In addition, more than 40 percent say their day-to-day lives will change as a result of the pandemic. But public attitudes about the coronavirus — including President Donald Trump’s handling of it — are starkly divided along partisan lines, with nearly nine-in-10 Republican voters having confidence in Trump dealing with the outbreak, compared with just a sliver of Democrats who agree. Indeed, 45 percent of all voters approve of Trump’s handling of the issue, which is almost identical to his overall job rating in the poll.

  3. On a Saturday Night in Florida, a Presidential Party Became a Coronavirus Hot Zone From the article: WASHINGTON — The lights were low and the disco balls spinning as a cake with a fiery sparkler shooting flames into the air was brought out to a robust rendition of “Happy Birthday,” joined by President Trump. The birthday girl, Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of Donald Trump Jr., then pumped her fist in the air and called out, “Four more years!” It was a lavish, festive, carefree Saturday evening at Mar-a-Lago a week ago in what in hindsight now seems like a last hurrah for the end of one era and the beginning of another. In the days since then, the presidential estate in Florida has become something of a coronavirus hot zone. At least four Mar-a-Lago guests from last weekend have said they are infected and others have put themselves into quarantine. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/on-a-saturday-night-in-florida-a-presidential-party-became-a-coronavirus-hot-zone/ar-BB11bIXN?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=UE07DHP
  4. Plagued by the President https://nyti.ms/2UjyZKj From the column: Even surrounded by the experts, Trump continued to send mixed signals. Despite the fact that he has come in contact with people who have tested positive for the virus, he was procrastinating on getting a test, refusing to self-isolate, and still shaking hands with the corporate chieftains he had summoned. Just like the address on Wednesday, Trump’s press conference began to fall apart in real time, as he fell into his natural role as snake-oil salesman.
  5. From the article in The American Conservative: The president does not serve the public interest and he never intended to do that. He sees public office simply as an opportunity for his own enrichment and aggrandizement, so when the test came in the form of this outbreak he was bound to fail it because his priority has always been to serve himself. The writing has been on the wall for a long time, but many Americans didn’t want to see it. Trump has been weighed in the balance and found severely wanting. https://www.theamericanconservative.com/larison/the-writing-is-on-the-wall-for-trump/?fbclid=IwAR2977lYiTfm1lCRtGkz4dbfcPVzMS0mr0ABeUtUVKArjicRv-7xaqf6jMM
  6. Headline in today's New York Times: Trump Won’t Be Getting a Coronavirus Test, His Doctor Says The statement from President Trump’s physician came just hours after Mr. Trump himself said he would be tested “fairly soon.” [President Trump may be a Typhoid Mary, infecting anyone he comes in contact with the virus.]
  7. Former Judge Resigns From the Supreme Court Bar In a letter to Chief Justice John Roberts, he detailed why he’s lost faith in the court. From the judge’s letter: Without trying to write a law review article, I believe that the Court majority, under your leadership, has become little more than a result-oriented extension of the right wing of the Republican Party, as vetted by the Federalist Society. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/03/judge-james-dannenberg-supreme-court-bar-roberts-letter.html?fbclid=IwAR3OCcUpZ63zNLOOsSeb9eJra1_FK3DQXboUNuIUaxpnjc9rAN_j-kSijmQ

  11. THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY IS OVER From the article: Donald Trump is shrinking before our eyes. The coronavirus is quite likely to be the Trump presidency’s inflection point, when everything changed, when the bluster and ignorance and shallowness of America’s 45th president became undeniable, an empirical reality, as indisputable as the laws of science or a mathematical equation. It has taken a good deal longer than it should have, but Americans have now seen the con man behind the curtain. The president, enraged for having been unmasked, will become more desperate, more embittered, more unhinged. He knows nothing will be the same. His administration may stagger on, but it will be only a hollow shell. The Trump presidency is over. https://amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/607969/?fbclid=IwAR3DH_-MAyih0RA-i27Gx-rT6_gG_FB4GXBpuGqz8Runpt846O9tJj9f4MQ

  13. Yes, ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. A thought that has never occurred to the present occupant of the White House.
  14. Like he said, we are just at the beginning of the spread of the virus. The doctor for Congress who addressed members of Congress this week said that from 70 million to 150 million people could be infected. So the ultimate number of deaths may well be extremely high.
  15. My take on President Trump’s Press Conference today at which he announced a national emergency to combat the coronavirus: The President rather proudly said he had not taken a test to see if he was positive for having the virus. However, earlier this week he was in close contact with two persons who have tested positive, GOP Rep. Gaetz and an official visiting from Brazil. He may have also had contact with other persons who are positive. Because he is a narcissistic idiot, he never gave a thought about whether he has infected the titans of business who surrounded him at his press conference, two of whom he insisted on shaking hands with, or with the members of his response team at the conference, including Dr. Fasci. Furthermore, all these individuals used the same microphone that the President had used to give his lengthy presentation of the national emergency. That microphone was a Petri dish that easily could have transmitted the virus to those who used it. In short, the world will now have to wait to see if one or more participants in the President Trump’s press conference tests positive for the virus. 23. David Muir reported on ABC National News tonight that the Dow now stands at what it was in April 2017, about the third month into Trump's presidency. Remember about two weeks ago when Trump boasted that the Dow was something he knew a lot about? Maybe someone should ask him now how much lower the Dow will go.
