Many people leave school just thinking that it means that people have the vote
Sadly many of them do not even bother to vote anymore, thinking it has no effect what so ever. At least that is what soem of my students tell me. Anyone with similar expierence?
The book i mentioned was :
Geschiedenis van Europa. (History of europe) Hachette Classiques 1992
isbn9030619953
Editor: Frederic Delouche
. it is a collaboration between 12 historians from all over europe to come to one european history.
Today i had a discussion with my students on a similar topic. They wanted to know if legal steps can be taken against 'offensive' or 'false' content on websites. To be honest i do not know. i know that countries are trying to develop legislation for the internet, but to the best my knowledge not much has happened.
In another thread Graham wrote that he was kicked of lists because of
'offensive' language. This raises a question. Do so-called webfilters serve a purpose? Eg. If you ban the word sex many sites with contents for biologylessons are not availble. On the other hand you can ban a little bit of the offensive contents of the internet. So what is more important; protecting people from offensive contents or free access to information? What is the use of a so-called filter?
For me i have never accounted abuse etc on the internet. Only once ,when a person claimed to be misquoted, is almost became abuse but cooler heads prevailed and the situation was dealt with in good manner.
Mistakes can happen!
What does a number say? I agree with Derek (never thought that would happen soon ) on that one.
At my school we are adopting a system without grades as such. Instead we use learnlines. A student develop oneself along this line. <see debates in education-> natural learning for more details>
This targets get very easy, a child develops at his/her own 'natural'' pace!
Yes but my most valuable lessons I learned when I was a teacher-trainee. Not in the lecture room but in front of the classroom. So it can be very dangerous, but also very valuable.
