1. John, have you invited John to participate here? And Dave Perry? I'd love to see them here! http://www.jfkmurdersolved.com/mcadams.htm http://www.jfkmurdersolved.com/pdf/perry2.doc We could have a real OPEN debate. But I guess it's wishfull thinking. Wim
2. Also, there were more "spikes" on the tape, but only four that could be determined to be gunshots. Wim
3. Please correct this in Charles Nicoletti's bio "According to Chauncey Holt and James Files, Nicoletti was one of the gunmen who took part in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Holt claims that the other gunmen were Charles Harrelson and Charles Rogers" Holt does NOT claim that "the other gunmen were Charles Harrelson and Charles Rogers". He claims that he met both men on the grassy knoll and hid with them in the boxcar, were they were found by the Dallas Police, escorted to their office and released thru the back door later that afternoon. He therefore claims that he and the two men wrere ther infamous three tramps photographed in Dealey Plaza. Chauncey Holt did not know whether Harrelson and Rogers were shooters. He knew Rogers only as "Montoya". Wim
4. Great Post, Lee! Whatever the case, it's clear that many more than the Warren Commission's three shots were fired. It is also clear that people like Specter and Ford knew this. Make no mistake about it. These men deceived the american public KNOWINGLY and WILLFULLY. They are outright criminals and they know it too. Which is why they refuse to take any more questions on the subject. It is also important to note that Specter invented the single bullet theory ONLY AFTER the Warren Commission could no longer ignore the testimony of James Tague. Before that , they had three hits (Kennedy back, Kennedy head and Connally). Now the logical and resposible investigative approach when you have to account for an extra miss, is to go and look for more shots and thus more gunmen. Instead they desperately clung to their "lone nut" and concocted the magic bullet, accounting for all those wounds of BOTH JFK and Connally. In addition, It can now be proven they LIED and TAMPERED to pull it off. But these are just two individuals. What is even more concerning, is that we have a whole machinery (including big TV networks like ABC) perpetrating the hoax, even today. Wim

12. http://www.jfkmurdersolved.com/sibert.htm Gerald Ford's motto: Attack is Best Defense. Gerald Ford, former President and last surviving member of the Warren Commission, has demonstrated his strategy again: Disguise your crimes by attacking the attacker. I am increasingly flabbergasted about what is possible in America. Why is the world and the History Channel swallowing his attack on the documentary "The guilty men"? For those who missed this headline news, it is the last episode of "The men who killed Kennedy" series, aired last November and originally scheduled for re-runs over the next nine years, which makes a case for Lyndon Johnson as a main conspirator in JFK's murder. Ford's coordinated protest with former Johnson cronies like Bill Moyers, Jack Valenti and Johnson's widow, has now even resulted in complete cancellation of all three new episodes, including those which were not attacked, like "The Love Affair" with Judyth Vary Baker, who makes a credible case for having been Lee Harvey Oswald's girlfriend, exonerating him from the Government's THEORY that he was the lone assassin. To my knowledge, this is an unprecedented form of censorship in the United States. In all the heated discussions and controversy about the History Channel's documentary, whether LBJ had a role in the JFK assassination or not, it seems that one thing is overlooked : In this case, Lyndon Baines Johnson and his next door neighbor and close buddy J. Edgar Hoover are guilty of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, not because we can prove they ordered it or because we can prove they had any direct connection to the killing, but because we can prove beyond any reasonable doubt that those two men took steps and took actions that covered up the truth of the crime. Washing out and refurbishing the President's limousine is just one of many examples of destroying crucial evidence. This makes them AT LEAST accessories after the fact. And was it not to Bill Moyers that Deputy Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach sent the infamous memo: "The public should be satisfied that Oswald was the lone assassin"? But what's more, Ford himself is guilty! Not only was it learned that he was secretly reporting on the Commission to FBI Director Hoover, but also, forced by declassified files, he has admitted that he instructed the Warren Commission to move Kennedy's backwound up by several inches !!! The significance of this cannot be overstated! For with a wound in the original location, there cannot be a single bullet theory and without a single bullet theory there cannot be a lone gunman. Last time I looked, this was called "tampering with evidence", which is a federal crime and in such an important case as the death of a president, it is also TREASON. Raised with my naive and Dutch set of values on freedom and democracy, I believe the man should be in jail, despite his rehearsed repetitions that the Commission "found no evidence of a conspiracy, foreign or domestic". Instead, he is allowed to bury essentially good documentaries. What is happening to America? All three men, Johnson, Hoover AND Ford, took steps that altered, destroyed and hid evidence, ...... and this, by the way, is what changes what otherwise would have been a Texas homicide, to a national coup d'etat! In order to provide a contra-weight to these outrageous proceedings of the on-going cover-up, I have made available for the public the first ever camera-interview with former special FBI agent James W. Sibert. This interview will be part of an upcoming film/documentary "Second Look, FBI agents re-examine the JFK assassination" (wanted: uncontrolled broadcasters). James Sibert, 84 years young, a former World War II hero and B-52 pilot, 21 year career FBI agent and American patriot, was present at Kennedy's autopsy in Bethesda. Like every other retired FBI agent featured in Second Look, he is also PISSED with his government for covering up such a major crime. See and hear what he has to say about Gerald Ford and senator Arlen Specter, architect of the notorious single bullet theory that was (and still is) pushed down our throat. Right here: http://www.jfkmurdersolved.com/sibert.htm This is age of the Internet, the new revolutionary and independent medium that can spread the truth. Recent studies show that the web has surpassed conventional media as a news source. If you share my amazement, SPREAD THIS! Email to friends and/or your favorite news-outlets. 13. This will give you some keywords for a google search. Many say the bullets, one killing Cermak, were intended for FDR. http://www.cermak.com/mayor/index3.html Anton J. Cermak was born in 1873 in Kladno, a town near Prague, Czechoslovakia. His father was a coal miner and brought the family to America in 1874. They lived in Braidwood, Illinois which was a mining town. He went to Elementary School for just three years. After that, he worked long hours in the dirty coal mines. He earned $1.50 a day. When he was 19, in 1892, Anton Cermak started his own hauling business in Chicago. He hauled wood, coal, or anything. By 1902, Anton Cermak was an Illinois State Representative. He held many more positions over the next 29 years. Then, in 1931, he was elected mayor of Chicago. In February of 1933, Mayor Cermak traveled to Miami, Florida to meet with President-elect Franklin Roosevelt. They arrived on February 15th to be in a parade. The parade car moved slowly down the street as President-elect Roosevelt and Mayor Cermak smiled and waved. The car stopped and President-elect Roosevelt gave a speech while sitting on the back of the car. A man named Guiseppe Zangara pushed through the crowd. He fired five shots at the President-elect. The bullets hit four people and Mayor Cermak. The mayor fell out of the car and called out "The President, get him away!" But Roosevelt ordered his car to stop and that Mayor Cermak be put in with him. President-elect Roosevelt held Mayor Cermak all the way to the hospital. Mayor Anton J. Cermak died three weeks later, on March 8, 1933. His body was taken back to Chicago and buried in the Bohemian National Cemetery. Guiseppe Zangara was executed in the electric chair on March 21, 1933. That was only 13 days after Mayor Cermak died.
14. As I have stated earlier there have been several “confessions” from people claiming to be involved in the plot to kill Kennedy. This includes James Files, Robert W. Easterling, Billie Sol Estes, Robert Morrow, Charles Harrelson (later retracted), Gerry P. Hemming, Chauncey Holt, Frank Ragano, Christian David, Kerry Thornley, Loy Factor and Roscoe White (via his wife). Fist of all: I pointed out that your statements were based on three LIES. Whether you are aware they were lies or not, I corrected them and you don't even take the trouble to acknowledge or apologize. I resent that. As the main face and promoter of this forum, you have a responsibility to check your sources before you speak. Secondly, you leave the suggestion as if every single one of these individuals is not credible and had nothing to with the assassination. This is a false suggestion. At least Charles Harrelson, Frank Ragano, Chauncey Holt have had enoogh corroboration to deem them credible. Besides, James Files is the FIRST and ONLY one of these people who has confessed on actually having SHOT at JFK. The problem with these “confessions” is that they always name people who have already been implicated by other researchers. Why would that be a "problem"? What do you mean to say? That the people implicated by other researchers, had nothing to do with the assassination? This is like saying that James Files canot be truthful because he implicates people that have already been implicated by others. David Atlee Phillips for example has been implicated by other reserachers. Should Files therefore better not mention that Phillips was his CIA controller, even if this were true? Sorry, I don't get it. In fact, their names can be found in just one book, Anthony Summers’ Conspiracy (1980). The other problem with their confessions is that they only name people who are dead. This is not true, there are clear discrepencies between Summers' book and the account of James Files. In fact, Summers is very skeptical about James Files. Files has admitted that he STARTED to read Summers' book but put it away after 10 pages because it was all wrong. Hardly a book on which to base your story, I would say. So again, you leave a false and manipulative suggestion. One has to ask why they are making these confessions. A false confession is not an unusual occurrence in high profile murder cases. The police always complain about how too much time is taken up with these false confessions. Apparently, certain individuals have a strong desire to obtain their moment of fame by confessing to murder. This is all true of course and therefore any confession in high profile cases should be subject to extreme (and honest) scrutiny. So far, Files has withstood such scrutiny. You are conscious of the fact that the JFK assassination is a game of smoke and mirrors and a lot of CIA disinfo. You seem to fall prey for it. I wonder what it would take for you to actually believe a confession in this case. A crystal clear picture of the man with a smoking gun behind the picket fence? In the Kennedy case there is another strong reason for people to confess to their role in the assassination. You can make a lot of money by telling your story to a journalist. This is an attractive proposition to someone who is currently serving a life-sentence (Files was given a 30 years prison sentence in 1991). Files has constantly argued he has not received any money for this information. However, John R. Stockwell has claimed that Files’ daughter was paid $50,000 immediately after the video project was sold to Dick Clark/MPI. As with Epstein, there is a rebuttal of Stockwell''s and Perry's claims on my website, right here: http://www.jfkmurdersolved.com/files1.htm Why don't you post that on your page about James Files? And why do these gentlemen not mix in this discussion here? I'll take it up with them any time! You can also read there about the $ 50,000: P19, 42:17 Nobody has paid me any money for this interview and I have asked for nothing. In fact, I understand that Files's daughter was paid $50,000 immediately after the project was sold to Dick Clark/MPI. What Files said was true. He asked for nothing, he received nothing. Files's daughters did receive $50,000 OUT OF THE KINDNESS OF MRS. WEST'S HEART for she was worried they would suffer from their father's confession. Mrs. West was right for one daughter (the oldest) was threatened and she used the money to relocate. The cash to the daughters had NOTHING to do with James Files. In fact, the daughter didn't even want the money and was reluctant in taking it. So why do you take Stockwell's claim at face value and say that FILES was paid the money? This is a LIE. You should at least point out that, even when you choose to endorse Stockwell, there are people (like me) refuting his claims. Evidence has also emerged that Files read a copy of Anthony Summers’ book Conspiracy before he made his confession. Files claims he did not finish the book because he found it boring. However, it appears to be no coincidence that all the people mentioned in Files’ story also appears in Summers’ book (including information that they were dead by the time the book was published). Again, a suggestion that this evidence has emerged much later. In fact, Files admitted reading the book at the time of his confession. He was asked if he read books on the assassination. He said he had started reading this one but put it away when he found it was not right. Files does not provide any documentary evidence that proves he was definitely involved in the assassination. He claims that he does possess this evidence but he will only make it available to researchers after he is released from prison (an unlikely event considering his 30 years sentence in 1991). Files has never claimed that he would produce documentary evidence if he is released from prison. Where did you get that from? He has only claimed that he has it (in the form of Nicoletti's diary). In fact he will not produce it for it would compromise some of his mafia friends. Several researchers have spent a great deal of time investigating Files claim. They have accumulated a great deal of evidence to show that his testimony includes several lies. What are the lies? Name them! Don't just take other people's claims that have already been refuted. "A great deal of evidence"? Then at least you should be able to point out some of that evidence. Even Bob Vernon has admitted that Files has been guilty of telling several lies (he also has some unpleasant things to say about you): http://www.jfkresearch.com/forum/index.php...t=1276&linear=1 I will not comment on the behaviour and motives of Bob Vernon here. You are right about the fact that he has recently ventilated that Files has made up fabrications and lies. However, you should have noted that he failes to specify them. He has made similar statements about Tosh Plumlee and Chauncey Holt, much to the dismay of his own attorney, who also happens to represent the Holt family. It could be argued that it is not important that Files has lied about his service in the 82nd Airborne in Laos. Or that he was simply mistaken about when Sam Giancana took over the Mafia family from Tony Accardo (although he does raise serious doubts about the truth of his relationship with Giancana). Files has not lied in any way about his service in the 82nd Airborne. Why would he? It has no bearing on his JFK confession anyway. It is just sad to see that you take over the lies of others and (probably involuntarily) are obfuscating what is really the truth in this case. Accardo put out Giancana as his front man to run his operations. Accardo himself always stayed the man in charge, pulling the strings behind the scene. Any organised crime expert and/or FBI agent working on the Chicago mob, can tell you that. Despite what the Stockwell's and Perry's of this world may want you to believe. In fact, many argue that Accardo stayed on top of everything even untill Giancana's death. If you need proof, I am happy to furnish it. Start here: In the mid-1960's however, Nicoletti's luck began to sour. In 1965, Giancana was jailed for contempt of court for refusing to testify before a grand jury. When he was released the next year, mob powerhouse Tony Accardo officially dethroned Giancana and Nicoletti's stature began to decline, even though Battaglia and Alderisio had two-year-runs at the top. Source: http://www.ganglandnews.com/column80.htm His claimed relationship with David Atlee Phillips is also difficult to believe. As it is pointed out: “Phillips was a propaganda specialist. Not a paramilitary man. It is very doubtful that he would be the controller of a Mafia shooter who was training Cubans.” Even if Phillips did organize the assassination he is unlikely to have given his real name to someone like Files. It seems to me that the only reason Phillips is added to the story is because he is named in Summers’ book as being a CIA agent that was possibly involved in the plot. David Atlee Phillips has been implicated as early as during the HSCA in the late 1970''s. HSCA investigator Gaetton Fonzi who authored the book "The last investigation"is a much stronger and direct source on that. Fonzi himself was and is convinced that David Atlee Phillips was "Maurice Bishop, although Veciana would not admit it under oath. It was finally proven beyond any doubt with the release of clasiisfied files from Cuban State Security. I recommend you to read ZR-Rifle by Claudia Furiati, especially her interview with general Fabian Escalante. The claim that David Atlee Phillips was just and only a propaganda specialist is truly hilarious. He became the head of COVERT OPERATIONS for the Western Hemisphere. Does that give you any clue? And besides being a mafia shooter, Files was first and foremost a CIA asset. Phillips stayed his controller untill the late seventies. The truth is that Phillips was a COVERT OPERERATION SPECIALIST before and after the Kennedy assassination. The following is known of David Atlee Phillips by now: He was one of the masterminds for the CIA staged coup by Pinochet in 1973, as well as the overthrow in 1954 of the Guatemala regime headed by Jacobo Arbenz. He was working closely with CIA officer E. Howard Hunt, another suspect in the plot to kill JFK and the leader of the infamous Watergate burglar team. In the 1950's and 1960's, Phillips was the CIA case officer for the anti Castro Cubans in Havana and Mexico City. The star of David Atlee Phillips rose to CIA director of Special Operations for the Western Hemisphere. David Atlee Phillips died of cancer on 7th July, 1988. He left behind an unpublished manuscript. The novel is about a CIA officer who lived in Mexico City. In the novel the character states: "I was one of those officers who handled Lee Harvey Oswald... We gave him the mission of killing Fidel Castro in Cuba... I don't know why he killed Kennedy. But I do know he used precisely the plan we had devised against Castro. Thus the CIA did not anticipate the president's assassination, but it was responsible for it. I share that guilt." According to his nephew Shawn Phillips, who is quite a famous musician, David Atlee Phillips confirmed to his brother James Atlee Phillips that he was in Dallas the day Kennedy died. To read Shawn's email: click here. The main argument against Files’ confession is that it bears little resemblance to what we know about a Mafia contract killing. Why would a Mafia killer leave forensic evidence (the famous bitten shell) at the scene of the crime? For a discussion of this issue see: http://www.jfkresearch.com/forum/index.php...&t=275&linear=1 Don't refer me to links that require a login and password. I have been denied access there by the forum administrator Rich della Rossa, for whose forum policies I have no respect whatsoever. He claims that I resgined, which is not true. Files cannot help that the truth maybe difficult to believe for you or anyone else. It is not his job to make it easy to believe. All we asked for is to give use the facts as he knows them. James Files says he left the shell casing from the bullet that he fired at John F. Kennedy in Dealey Plaza. He put it on top of the picket fence on the grassy knoll, after he had bitten down on the shell casing, because he liked the taste of gun powder. This shell casing was found in 1987 by garden service man John Rademacher at some distance from the spot where Files said he left it. The casing was in the ground some 5 inches deep, consistent with a deposit of 24 years ago. The .222 casing was manufactured before 1971, as could be determined from the headstamp. The local press gave only very scant coverage on Rademacher's discovery and NO mention was made of any marks on the shell casing. It is very unlikely that James Files could have known of this discovery, but there is certainly no way he could have known about the indents on the shell casing. Even Rademacher was guessing what they could be, he thought they were "ejection marks". No one had thought about dentmarks until James Files came forward with this information. He said: "If the casing is mine, you can recognize it for my teethmarks are on it. The end will be oval, not round." It was then verified by a number of independent dentists (among others, a professor in orthodontology Paul Stimpson) that the marks were indeed made by human teeth. When Mr. Stimpson was asked to examine the casing he was not aware of a connection with the Kennedy assassination. All he was told was that is was used in a murder. James Files could not have known these marks were dentmarks, unless he put them there himself or heard it from someone that put them in the casing. However, it is simply unlikely that any other assassin would have been so unprofessional to leave this incriminating evidence on the scene of the crime. James Files, at that time only 21 years of age, said he felt "cocky" about his deed. He now recognizes that he should never have done that. The shell casing is therefore a crucial piece of physical evidence for his credibility. We also know that Mafia hits are meticulously well-planned. Yet Files tells us that two hours before the assassination the following conversation took place: “He (Nicoletti) asked me then were do you think would be the best place for me? "I said, well, I think the Dal-Tex building...." This in itself makes the whole story preposterous. Since when do we know that mafia hits are meticulously well planned? You are dealing with people and people make mistakes. Everyone assumes this was a perfectly and meticulously planned hit, but in fact many things went wrong. Nicoletti and Holt arrived only that morning from Arizona. They had car trouble and a storm causing their delay. They could have been too late as well. And if it would have rained the whole party was off, the bubble top of the limousine would then have been on. The shot of Files was in fact one big screwup. Nicoletti was actually angry with Files, he thought that Files had fired too soon. Because of that, the Zapruder film had to be put lock and barrel, because everyone would see clearly that Kennedy was hit from the front. Other films have been taken by the FBI. But that could not happen with the Zapruder film. That’s why it was kept from the public for 14 years. It was bought by Time Life. You would expect the film would be big news and go all over the world. But no, they put it in the vault. It’s so clear, looking back. If the film would have gone public, no one would have believed the Warren Commission. This also illustrates the power of the CIA with the media. When you have the media you can make the public believe what you want them to believe. What else went wrong? Well, the fact that Oswald was captured alive. The original plan was most likely to kill him as the “fleeing assassin”. So something went wrong there. Oswald could have blown off the lids and spill the beans. Maybe he has done so, but the records of his interrogations dissapeared. How much clearer do you want it? Thus Ruby was ordered to silence Oswald. Furthermore it was not intended that Holt, Harrelson and Rogers to be captured. But when you have the highest authorities to cover up the mistakes, then you can get away with a lot. There is of course some important evidence that indicates that Files is lying about his involvement in the killing. This includes the research of Edward Jay Epstein. He established from telephone records that Files was in Chicago, not Dallas, on November 22,1963. Your reply to that Epstein “is a know (sic) CIA disinfo writer and has used fabrication and lies to discredit Files.” Maybe you missed it: VERNON: This is an outright lie by Epstein. The final WRITTEN opinion from the Kroll Agency was that Kroll found "NO OTHER PLACE" that James Files was on 11/22/63. Repeat: THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT LIE BY EPSTEIN. We know nothing of the sort. Epstein is a respected journalist who helped undermine the Warren Commission Report with his book, Inquest: The Warren Commission and the Establishment of Truth (1966). Epstein in fact does believe that there was a conspiracy to kill JFK. He has also argued that the CIA were probably involved in the cover-up of the conspiracy (hardly the views of a CIA disinformation agent). It is just that Epstein, like virtually all other serious researchers into the assassination, does not believe that Files was part of this plot. You might be surprised how many reserachers believe that Files was part of the plot. All it takes is a true indepth look at the evidence. Stilling, who was a supervisory special agent in Chicago for 22 years, said it is important to be cautious and thorough when dealing with projects about Kennedy’s assassination, because it was a defining moment in history. “I personally feel the day Kennedy died, a certain essence, a certain quality, a certain feel of what it means to be an American, died,” he said. “I think most Americans feel the same way.” He believes because there is sufficient evidence and probable cause for a conspiracy, a “fresh look” at the murder is warranted. “After many hours of going over this, it’s my professional opinion that this definitely screams out for a further in-depth analysis,” Stilling said. Epstein's cover is that he is a critic of the Warren Commission. His standard position is that their investigation was sloppy, but their conclusion that Oswald alone killed JFK is nevertheless RIGHT. If you don't believe that, you can literally see and hear him say that in the documentary "The Warren Commission". He may say he believes in a conspiracy. That's how you get information IN ORDER TO DISCREDIT it. It is a classic disinfo method. He therefore did NOT undermine the Warren Comission. He helped endorse their treacherous conclusions. Epstein may say whatever conspiracy theorists may like to hear, he never offers any irrefutable proof for CIA involvement. And how does his conclusion that the Warren Commission was right, coincide with his professed belief in a conspiracy involving the CIA. Tell me that! And if you don't have the answer, get one from him, before defending him. About respect, there are many many people who respect for example former WC member and president Gerald Ford. Even though he has admitted to altering the Warren Report by moving up kennedy's backwound 5 inches. The significance of this cannot be overstated. For with a wound in the original location, there cannot be a single bullet theory and without a single bullet theory there cannot be a lone gunman. Last time I looked, this was called "tampering with evidence", which is a federal crime and in such an important case as the death of a president it is also TREASON. The man should be in jail, and even if I am a minority of one, I will say that, despite his rehearsed repetitions that the commission "found no evidence of a conspiracy, foreign or domestic". There was a time that many respected Hitler. We now know that respect was a function of time and (wrong and manipulated) information or lack thereof. The point is: I don't look at what the general concensus is at a certain point. It might distract you from what the FACTS are. It is of course a common tactic of some people to describe writers as CIA agents when they provide information that undermines their own particular conspiracy theory. Maybe I will be described as one after reading this posting. There is of course another way of looking at the situation. Maybe the CIA/FBI are using people like James Files, Robert W. Easterling, Robert Morrow, Charles Harrelson, Chauncey Holt, Kerry Thornley, Loy Factor, etc. to discredit those involved in researching the death of JFK. If that is the case, it has been a highly successful operation. As long as you believe that people like James Files, Charles Harrelson and Chauncey Holt are phonies being used by the CIA to muddy the waters, then indeed the CIA does not even need to put out hoax stories or work otherwise on a succesful disinfo campaign.
15. http://www.jfkmurdersolved.com/filestruth.htm Is James Files telling the truth? Why do I believe James Files is telling the truth? Here is a non-exhaustive list of reasons in random order: When I first learned about James Files some three years ago, I was rather amazed that I didn’t know his name. After all, I had been studying the Kennedy assassination for over 12 years. I was more astonished because Files had made his confession in 1994 and I was told the website had been up since 1995. When I searched for the name "James Files" on the Internet, I found that 9 out of 10 articles attempted to completely discredit Files' story. I then set out to closely investigate these criticisms and came to the conclusion they were all superficial and didn't hold water. For example, critics said that the weapon Files claimed to have used was more a pistol than a rifle and would have had an enormous recoil. They said it "kicks like a mule". Therefore, Files could never have seen what he claimed he had witnessed through the scope of his weapon. I sent an email to one of the gun shops I found on the Internet. I acted as a potential customer and asked whether the Remington Fireball was a pleasant weapon to fire. That man stated the weapon was one of the most sophisticated guns ever made, etc. When I inquired about the recoil he said it was nice and steady. Ultimately, I told him why I asked. He was quite amused and said that the alleged murder weapon of Lee Harvey Oswald had a lot more recoil than the Fireball. He added that whoever said that the XP-100 had substantial recoil had a lot to learn about firearms. Files was also criticized with the allegation that the XP-100 was not available in 1963 and that the rounds used for this weapon were not a .222 caliber but rather .221. I found both accusations to be untrue. The weapon was introduced in 1963 and prototypes were available as early as 1962. The weapon was originally chambered for .222 rounds. To learn more about the Remington XP-100 Fireball click here. Another statement was that Files would not have had the time to do all the things he claimed to have done. He states that he bit the shell casing after firing the shot and left it on the on the picket fence on the grassy knoll. He then put the weapon back in his briefcase, turned his jacket inside out, put it on and walked away. Critics shout he would never had the time to do all of that because numerous bystanders rushed to the knoll right after the shots, since that is where most bystanders had heard the shots coming from. It is true that many bystanders ran towards the grassy knoll, but not immediately. Files says that everyone stood frozen and stunned and that even the policemen acted uncertain, as if they were waiting for someone to tell them what to do. I was quickly able to determine that Files was right. One of the photos of the knoll shows the press bus in front of it. There is not a soul on the knoll yet. This was the last vehicle in the motorcade, so it must have taken, at the minimum, 30 seconds for the bus to reach that point. The president's limousine had almost come to a stop and the press bus had to make the sharp turn of 120 degrees from Houston street onto Elm, forcing it to a near-stop also. To see that Files was right click here. The lead on James Files came from the FBI. Agent Zack Shelton (now retired) served 28 years with the FBI. He has an impeccable record and spent much of his career on organized crime task forces of Chicago and Kansas City. He is the man who gave the information on James Files to private investigator Joe West, because Zack Shelton had reason to believe that James Files knew more about the Kennedy assassination. This was based on a remark that James Files had made to an FBI informant. Joe West subsequently located James Files in Stateville penitentiary, which ultimately led to his confession of being the gunman on the grassy knoll. It is important to note that James Files had never volunteered to give information on his role in the assassination. The tip from Zack was given to Joe West, who was working on a lawsuit to exhume JFK’s body. He wanted to prove that Kennedy was hit from the front and by multiple gunmen and a new and independent autopsy would prove sure as hell that the first was a total fraud. But Joe West never heard a full confession from James Files. Files didn’t want to talk. Only if Joe could arrange immunity for him, would Files consider it. During that time Joe had to go into a hospital for heart surgery. The operation itself was a success, but then out of nowhere he went into a coma and never came out of it. With his death, his exhumation suit also died. Files, and others, thinks Joe was murdered by an overdose of wrong medication in order to silence him. He was informed as such by one of his sources. Indeed there are some strange details; the attending doctor is still to be found for example. And just before he went into coma and could not talk anymore, he scribbled a note for his family "Get me out of here, they are trying to kill me!" The official cause of death was Acute Deficiency Respiratory Syndrome. Bob Vernon was later told by a surgeon that this is more or less a standard method to cover-up medical errors, such as an overdose of drugs. Joe's death is one of the main reasons why James Files decided to tell his story to Bob Vernon, who took over from Joe. A second reason is that Files has turned religious. An element of clearing his conscience also plays a role. In addition, he feels it was not his idea to put his name before the public. He says it was the FBI (Zack Shelton) and he was convinced the FBI would want the truth kept covered-up. Indeed J. Edgar Hoover had done his best. To James Files, the FBI is one big bad organization. What he does not understand, is that mostly honorable people work for the FBI and the cover-up was controlled from the top. Zack Shelton and his colleagues feel betrayed their own former boss covered-up such a big crime, while they were thinking they were doing the greatest thing in the world. Another reason is that both Files and Bob Vernon had received clear threats to stop with all of this. Those threats came from organized crime as well as the government. To name just a few examples: Vernon claims he was shot at from a car and Files received a message from a mob lawyer to "keep quiet and lay down by your doggy bowl." Vernon’s proposal to Files was then: "If they want to take us out, let’s leave them something for history!" Files stared in silence through the window for a minute, according to Vernon the longest minute of his life. Finally Files turned around and said: "Ok, bring in the cameras tomorrow!" A final reason is that James Files is convinced he will never be tried for the assassination of JFK. A trial would expose the government’s involvement. He knows the powers behind it and they have too much to lose. To learn more about how it all evolved, read or hear the interview with Zack Shelton click here. Zack before losing his innocence + James Files implicates two accomplices in the murder: Johnny Roselli and Charles Nicoletti, both known dual operatives for the CIA and Mafia boss Sam Giancana of Chicago. Although James Files does not know how Roselli and Nicoletti arrived in Dallas, two other independent witnesses have furnished first-hand information as to how they transported Roselli and Nicoletti into Dallas on the morning of November 22, 1963. Tosh Plumlee, a CIA contract pilot, flew Roselli to Dallas on a CIA-supported flight originating in Florida. Chauncey Marvin Holt, deceased in 1997, was a CIA operative and a mob asset for crime-bosses Meyer Lansky and Peter Licavoli. Chauncey Holt has testified that he drove Charles Nicolletti to Dallas from the Grace Ranch in Arizona, which was owned by Peter Licavoli, the Mafia boss of Cleveland. Moreover, when the Chauncey Holt story was published there was NO mention about Charles Nicoletti. The reporter who wrote it didn't think it was important enough to print it, although Chauncey Holt had told her. When Bob Vernon contacted Chauncey Holt, he learned that Nicoletti had been one of his passengers. This was AFTER Files had made his confession. This means that Files could not have learned from the Chauncey Holt publication that Nicoletti was in Dallas on november 22, 1963. It is clear that his source is his own memory. And Chauncey Holt corroborates that, as does Tosh Plumlee for Johnny Roselli. Chauncey Holt, Tosh Plumlee and James Files did not know each other, yet they give the same and independent information about the same people. This cannot be coincidence nor can it be a scam. + Some sceptici claim that if Files is telling the truth, he would have been killed. This is baloney. First of all three failed attempts have been made on his life. They just weren't succesful. Read about it here. But furthermore it is simply a myth that all those involved are dead or have been killed. In fact, enough persons with involvement or knowledge of the assassination are alive and could still be questioned. Examples include Charles Harreslon, Orlando Bosch, Luis Posada Carrilles, E. Howard Hunt, Guillermo Novo Sampol, Gerald Ford and more. The lack of effort to question these people is illustrative for the willingness to solve the case. + All critics who attack James Files, at least agree that he is a "good xxxx". But it is claimed there are too many implausibilities in his account, for example the last-minute request to be the backup shooter for Nicoletti, as well as biting the shell casing. My question is: Why does a good xxxx invent a story with implausibilities? A xxxx inventing a hoax story, wants to be believed. Why then make your story implausible? And how did Files manage to have the shell casing found, seven years before his involuntary confession? These critics also ignore that if Files is a hoax, Tosh Plumlee, Joe Granata and Chauncey Holt are all endorsing the hoax. + James Files says he left the shell casing from the bullet that he fired at John F. To learn more about the shell casing click here. + Recently another person was found who corroborates James Files. Zack Shelton was given a name by colleague Jack O' Rourke. The name was Joe Granata, a Mafia member, who used to run with Charles Nicoletti. Granata has been a credible witness for the government. Apparently he is so valuable that he was put in the witness protection program. His testimony has helped send several people to prison. Joe Granata has never given unreliable information. He told Zack that Nicoletti had told him on two occasions that Nicoletti, Roselli, Marshall Caifano and Jimmy Sutton, were the "hit team on Dealey Plaza." Although James Files says he knows nothing about Marshall Caifano being on Dealey Plaza, his name was James Sutton at the time. To learn more about Granata and his reliability as a source click here. + James Files said that he was aiming for Kennedy's eye but missed and "came in on the left side of the temple." He says this was because Kennedy was hit in the back of his head by another bullet from behind at almost the same time, and that bullet pushed the head forward. Even the best Kennedy researchers have not noticed such a movement, yet this is EXACTLY what we see on the Zapruder film. To learn more about the simultaneous headshots click here. Three frames of the Zapruder film show the head going forward first + How does the available evidence coincide with James Files? Well, there is the testimony of Lee Bowers, who was the operator of the railroad tower with a clear view behind the picket fence. James Files says he wore a plaid poplin jacket. Lee Bowers described a young man with such a coat: Mr. BOWERS. Directly in line, towards the mouth of the underpass, there were two men. One man, middle-aged, or slightly older, fairly heavy-set, in a white shirt, fairly dark trousers. Another younger man, about midtwenties, in either a plaid shirt or plaid coat or jacket. Mr. BALL.. Were they standing together or standing separately? Mr. BOWERS. They were standing within 10 or 15 feet of each other, and gave no appearance of being together, as far as I knew. Lee Bowers also described three cars that drove into the parking lot behind the picket fence. One of these cars fits the description of the Oldsmobile stationwagon that Chauncey Holt and Charles Nicoletti had driven from Arizona: Mr. BALL. What was the description of that car? Mr. BOWERS. The first car was a 1959 Oldsmobile, blue and white station wagon with out-of-State license. Mr. BALL. Do you know what State? Mr. BOWERS. No; I do not. I would know it, I could identify it, I think, if I looked at a list. Mr. BALL. And, it had something else, some bumper stickers? Mr. BOWERS. Had a bumper sticker, one of which was a Goldwater sticker, and the other of which was of some scenic location, I think. Note that Chauncey Holt and Charles Nicolletti had driven the car from Arizona and that Barry Goldwater, a senator from that state, was running for President. By the way, it is remarkable that Mr. Ball asks that question about the bumber sticker since Mr. Ball was one of Holt's CIA handlers. Lee Bowers was also one of many witnesses that heard the last two shots very close together or almost simultaneously. As did Seymour Weitzman: Joe Ball: How many shots did you hear? Seymour Weitzman: Three distinct shots. Joe Ball: How were they spaced? Seymour Weitzman: First one, then the second two seemed to be simultaneously. This is exactly what Files said: His shot hit JFK in the head at the same time as a shot from the back. James Files also said there were two men in business suits in his vicinity, who later stopped bystanders by posing as Secret Service agents. The two businessmen that Files mentions were between him and the motorcade and he was somewhat concerned about them. The photographical evidence that is available at the time of the assassination, does not show men in business suits on the grassy knoll. But it is of course very likely that these men were there before the assassination took place and that they sought a better place to stay out of sight at the time of the shots. As the motorcade was arriving James Files was not paying attention anymore to what happened around him as he was keeping Kennedy in the scope of his weapon. Several witnesses, for example Gordon Arnold and police officers Joe Smith and Seymour Weitzman, have testified they were turned back by men on the grassy knoll, showing Secret Service credentials. Official Secret Service records show that no agents were assigned on Dealey Plaza or the grassy knoll. A very unknown witness who did not appear for the Warren Commission, was Charles Blankenship. His story was recently uncovered by researcher Michael Parks: Michael Parks recently came across evidence of even another witness to the knoll agent. He relayed this to from Mrs. Charles Blankenship: Her husband, Charles "Charlie" Blankenship was with the DPS office from another county other than Dallas. She recalled him working out of the Fort Worth office but was not sure. He was off duty on 11/22/63 but had come to Dallas to see the president with other officers stationed in Dallas. He was standing on the east side of Houston Street in front of the Records Building. He heard the shooting and, like many other lawmen, ran to where he felt the shots had originated, this being the knoll area. He supposedly encountered two men in suits that stated they were Secret Service agents. They told him he could go no further and he turned and left Dealey Plaza. He was not interviewed by any agency and kept this story to his immediate family until his death. It was known that he had a relative on the Dallas Police force. Source: http://www.jfklancer.com/knollagent/knollagent.html There is also evidence that seems to conflict with the account of James Files. This is the story of Ed Hoffman, a deaf mute man, who was ignored by the FBI, but claims to have seen a man in a suit firing a gun from behind the picket fence. This man then tossed the gun to another man, who disassembled the rifle and put it in a briefcase. This other man was dressed as railroad worker and walked away with the briefcase in the direction of the railroad yard. James Files says that he was alone behind the picket fence. However, I tend to see Ed Hoffman as credible, although he is a single and thus uncorroborated source. If we assume Hoffman's account is true, and since there is evidence of more than one shot from the front, for example the wound in Kennedy's throat, it is not inconceivable that Files, concentrated as he was on the target, may have missed another shooter behind the fence and closer to the underpass. This man could have appeared at the last moment. He could have been hiding behind or in one of the cars behind the picket fence. It could well have been one of the men in suits, posing as Secret Service agents. + The critics of James Files claim that he is just a convict with "too much time on his hands" and that he must have read many books on the assassination to invent his story, which would be designed to get fame and attention. This claim can be discounted for many reasons: 1) Files has given his video confession only once in 1994. He had vouched he would never do it again. Indeed, I have worked for almost a year to get him to agree to a second and final interview. I had already given up untill he finally consented for a specific reason that has nothing to do with getting attention. 2) Files has met with Oliver Stone three times and he told us (Jim Marrs and me) this: JF - We wasn't aware of the water situation untill Oliver Stone comes along to make a movie here. And when he made his movie here, we see all these people from the movie company running around carrying bottles of water. Even the officers that worked here, they got suspicious and that’s when we started finding out: this water is unhealthy. Wim - Did you actually meet Oliver Stone? JF - I met Oliver Stone three times. As a matter of fact I have a paper that Joe West … no excuse me, not Joe West but Bob Vernon, had Oliver Stone sign. Now Bob Vernon had come in after the Joe West deal. Bob Vernon took over for Joe West. Bob Vernon met with Oliver Stone and he had him sign an agreement where they wanted to get me on film, but I refused to do that. I met with Oliver Stone three times. Jim - And you never told him your story? JF - No, I did not tell Oliver Stone my story. I refused to discuss it with him and uh …like I say, I ‘ve got a copy, It’s got Oliver Stone’s signature on it, Bob Vernon’s, the only signature that states what it’s all about, the only thing missing is my signature because I would never sign that paper for the agreement. Jim - Why was that? JF - I didn’t like the man! Jim - Case closed! JF - Case closed! And if you’d like I would be more than happy to send you a copy of the document. And it has got Oliver Stone’s original signature on it. And it has Bob Vernon’s signature on it. Well, I guess that answers the critics who say that Files is just a convict trying to get attention. I mean, if you want attention, you want to talk to Oliver Stone, who was the director of the blockbuster movie JFK. 3) Tony Godinez is the former warden of Stateville Correctional Center. He has interviewed James Files more often than anyone else. He has testified that he never saw a book about JFK in the cell of James Files. 4) I found out first hand that James Files is not well read on the JFK assassination, just like he says. The day before the camera interview., I talked with him on an extended visit for four hours. We covered many subjects, one of them was Chauncey Holt and the three tramps. James Files started telling me that in his view the three men were not professionals. I asked him why? He then said that they did not know "how to improvise", and that they were stupid to get themselves arrested by the cops, because in a situation like that "you just have to shoot the cops". I explained to him that this would have been difficult since they were found in a closed boxcar and that they had been instructed by their superiors to hide in that boxcar, which would make their exit. I also told him that they were not arrested, because they identified themselves as undercover agents, and they were escorted to the Sheriff's office for a short hearing. Files then conceded and he said he did not know that, adding that I knew lot more about the assassination than he did. + It is clear to me that the short and sweet "investigation" of James Files by the FBI was designed to discredit his information, rather than to get to the bottom of it. James Files was interviewed by two FBI agents eight months BEFORE his videotaped confession. The transcript of this interview can be found by clicking here. Note how the interview starts out: Agents further told FILES that IRVIN had provided information to the FBI that indicated he (FILES) had personal knowledge concerning the assassination of JOHN F. KENNEDY (JFK). Agents then told FILES that a review of his (FILES') information as provided by IRVIN determined that his (FILES') recollections were in significant contradiction to the WARREN COMMISSION report. Agents told FILES That the findings of the WARREN COMMISSION report had been accepted by the government as an accurate factual account of the JFK assassination. Agents then told FILES that Agents further understood from IRVIN that he (FILES) was cognizant of his contradictions with the WARREN COMMISSION findings and that he (FILES) wanted to make available the "true story" of the JFK assassination out of respect to the deceased JOE WEST. Agents told FILES that in view of his obvious conflicts with the WARREN COMMISSION findings, he would unlikely be afforded subsequent opportunities for interview by the FBI or the U.S. Attorney in regard to the JFK assassination unless he established his credibility with the government. FILES was told that credibility could sometimes be established through corroboration of facts furnished by an individual during an interview. Agents told FILES that the purpose of the interview was to obtain additional information from him in an effort to establish him as a credible person rather than to build a murder case on him. FILES was told that the JFK assassination took place almost 30 years ago and it would take extraordinary corroboration to make recollections credible in view of the WARREN COMMISSION findings. Basically, what the FBI agents say here to James Files: “We have a problem with your story because it contradicts the Warren Commission“ !! This is before they even begin discussing any substance of the information ! Only an uninformed 10 % of the American people still accept the clearly ludicrous and demonstrably false conclusions of the Warren Report. Its conclusions were also easily refuted in a less publicized government investigation in 1977/78. The House Select Committee on Assassinations, DID conclude that JFK was killed as a result of a conspiracy which included more than one gunman. Further on in the transcript we read this: Agents asked FILES to name persons who could verify his relationship with NICOLETTI. FILES named JERRY ESPOSITO, COSMO IASCO, DOMINICK CIMINO, RONNIE BELL, RUPI REGO, KENNY LARRY, STEVE ANSELMO, JOE BUA and MARSHAL CAIFANO as some of the individuals who could verify his relationship with NICOLETTI. Please let us make sure we understand this: The agents ask Files for corroboration of his association with Nicoletti. Files gives them a flurry of names, almost a dozen. He could have named many more, like Zack Shelton for one. Moreover, what the average reader does not know is that at least half of these individuals were POLICE OFFICERS! In addition, all of these people would confirm that Files was a mafia hitman. Why did the FBI not check with ANY of these persons named by James Files? Some of them are still alive even now! Instead the FBI declared him "non-credible". As for the willingness to check evidence not pointing to Oswald, it appears that little has changed within the FBI since Mr. Hoover "solved" the case on the day of the assassination, when he wrote "Not necessary to cover as true subject located". To see the document click here. + Everything that James Files has said and was checkable, proved to be true. Even the smallest details that have nothing to do with JFK. I'll give an example here. In the last interview on 11/19/2003 James Files told me this: "I’m not saying there is other shooters, what I am saying is this: I have no need to know of everybody that is involved in an operation. What purpose would that serve? That’s like me going into a communist country on a covert operation and me knowing everybody, all the other agents that are there in that field working. And if I get captured, they all get executed! So the same thing goes when it comes down to crime. You try to keep your people the least bit to know as possible. Because too many times, maybe partners, and that’s like … I can use one deal, one party back east out of Philadelphia, I did time with him in the federal prison. His own brother gave him up. His brother knew that he was a big time cocaine dealer, he was a dentist. They called him Dr. Snow. I don’t remember his real name, but they called him Dr. Snow. His brother got busted on a nickel bag of weed in New York. He gave his own brother up because he couldn’t do a year in the jail. His brother told him:! I’ll give you a million dollars a year. For every year they keep you in jail, I give you a million dollars cash. Don’t testify against me! He put his brother in jail." Since James Files did not remember the name of "Dr Snow", I did a check on Google for "dentist" and "Dr. Snow" and I quickly saw that Dr. Snow is Larry Lavin. Two books have been written about the case. So I emailed one of the authors Carol Saline wit the following results: From: "Carol Saline" To: info@jfkmurdersolved.com Sent: Monday, March 01, 2004 9:37 PM Subject: RE: Larry Lavin aka Dr. Snow Larry is very much alive. We speak and write regularly. He is still in prison and will be released next January. Yes it's true that his brother was instrumental in his capture. Have you read my book Dr. Snow. Subject: Larry Lavin aka Dr. Snow Hello, Do you know if Larry Lavin is still alive? If so, can you contact him? Is he in prison? Is it true that he was given up by his own brother? Thanks for getting back, Wim Dankbaar (Netherlands) Another detail described by Files is about Nicoletti's car: Jim Marrs – Okay, so now you got …. Describe the car! James Files – The car was a ’63 Chevy two door Burgundy. Chevy Impala. Jim Marrs – With the special compartment? James Files - Oh yeah, we had a special compartment in the dash, we had the backseat, you could take that off, pull the bottom part up, raise the back up, snap it up little clams and take that out. We had the springs removed behind the seat there by it and we had little racks welded in there so we could mount weapons in there. I found this fragment here from an article written by an organised crime expert: "By the late 1950's, Nicoletti had a feared reputation as a hitman and was one of the usual suspects brought in for questioning whenever cops thought they had a gangland-style-slaying on their hands. In 1962, he was arrested while driving a so-called "work" car, specially equipped with hidden compartments for guns, rear lights that turned off, a souped up engine, special reinforcement on both sides, bullet proof glass and a rotating rear license plate. It was no surprise the next day when a mob associate was found slain near where Nicoletti had been detained." Source: http://www.ganglandnews.com/column80.htm James Files says that his CIA supervisor, who also recruited him, was David Atlee Phillips. David Atlee Phillips is a man whose name is well known to assassination researchers. He was called to testify for the House Select Committee on Assassinations in the 1970's. Several members of the committee wanted to call him again for they believed he had not told the truth and committed perjury. Phillips was traced as a suspect as a result of the testimony of cuban exile leader Antonio Veciana, a friend of Files, who knew his CIA case officer only under the alias of "Maurice Bishop". A composite sketch, based on the recollections of Veciana prompted US senator Schweiker to recognize David Atlee Phillips. A confrontation between Veciana and Phillips was arranged but Veciana, apparently fearing for his safety, refused to identify Phillips as his former case officer, but later acknowledged privately that Phillips was indeed his CIA controller. 16. "However, you are on dodgy ground when you name Charlie Nicoletti, John Rosselli and James Earl Files as the killers. This is of course based on Files’ confession to Bob Vernon while serving a 30 year sentence for attempted murder. Files, a long-term conman, was attempting to obtain money for his story (he was paid $50,000 via his sister by Dick Clark/MPI). Several investigators have shown that Files story is a fabrication. For example, Edward Jay Epstein has established from telephone records that Files was in Chicago, not Dallas, on November 22,1963. " Very very sloppy journalism, John Simkin. You post THREE LIES, without even checking with me , while you know I am representing the accuracy of James Files. The three lies are: 1) Files was NOT paid 50 K and NEVER attempted to get money for his story. 2) Only ONE "reseracher" has tried to show and his name is indeed Edward Jay Epstein. He is a know CIA disinfo writer and has used fabictaion and lies to discredit Files. 3) Epstein has NOT shown that Files was not in Dallas. He has put out a fabricated story under the disguise of his "authority" I thought this forum would try to be accurate? And with regard to Lay, I can hardly believe you are 16 years old, but I am very curious to your source that Charles Nicolett and an associate killed Marilyn Monroe. Wim JFKlancer Forum #20171 "BOB VERNON STATEMENT ON ED EPSTEIN AND JAMES FILES" Mr. Wim Dankbaar of Holland has asked me to respond to the following: QUOTE In brief, NBC retained me as a consultant for their planned story on Files. I hired the detective firm of Jules Kroll. JK established from telephone records Files was in Chicago, not Dallas, on November 22,1963. We then placed a call to Files from Dick Clark's office (DC was producer), and I interviewed Files about Kroll findings. He said he had a twin brother, who no one knew about, and whom he met shortly before November 22, and who he murdered after November 22. He said it was his twin brother in hospital with his wife, not him. His wife, however, said there was no twin, and Kroll confirmed there was no twin. My view then and now is that Files invented the story for the money it would earn him. Ed Epstein UNQUOTE Please allow me to be specific on a point to point basis: Epstein: In brief, NBC retained me as a consultant for their planned story on Files. Vernon: To my knowledge this is true however I do not believe it. When I was informed, by Dick Clark, personally, that NBC had a consultant coming in and Dick told me the consultant's name was Epstein, I immediately went to my office on the second floor of dick clark productions in Burbank, California and I called five of, in my humble opinion, the top JFK researchers: Prof. Josiah Thompson, Prof. Peter Dale Scott, Former CIA case officer John R. Stockwell, Gary Shaw and, last but certainly not least, Jim Marrs. All five men, let me repeat that..ALL FIVE MEN...told me that Epstein was CIA and was being sent in to kill our program on NBC. Prof. Thompson remarked that the Kroll Agency was filled with "bureaucrats" (his exact words) and he chuckled. I was further informed that Epstein didn't touch his typewriter for less than $500,000, not only was he CIA but he married a CIA agent (I have no knowledge of Epstein's wife, if any, at all), and that he was on his way to see DeMorenschilt (sic) when DeMorenschilit committed "suicide." I immediately ran back downstairs to inform Dick and Barry Adelman (Executive VP of dcp) what I had found out about Epstein. Dick and Barry listened and thought about what I said. Dick's final executive decision was that we do whatever NBC asks in order to satisfy them. A day or so later, perhaps more, Epstein showed up with an NBC lawyer named Marge or Margie. Our first meeting was very cordial. We met in Dick Clark's conference room at a table underneath Elvis Presley's jeweled white cape hanging on the wall, next to John Lennon's and Elton John's shoes in a glass case. I was asked to show Epstein all of our findings and I did. I answered all his questions in a clear, direct manner, no adjectives, no adverbs. Lunch was sent in. Epstein had ordered a chicken salad. During the course of the meal, Epstein got choked on a chicken bone from the salad. I was sitting next to him and observed him start to spit and gag. His face became slightly discolored. I slapped him on the back and the chicken bone dislodged from his throat. He appeared grateful and thanked me. EPSTEIN: I hired the detective firm of Jules Kroll. VERNON: I do not know who hired Kroll. They just appeared. I do know that we (being dcp, Truth, Truth, Truth, Inc. and Bob Vernon) paid Kroll's fee for it was deducted from our advance from MPI and sent back to NBC as an imbursement.or at least that is what I was told. EPSTEIN: JK established from telephone records Files was in Chicago, not Dallas, on November 22, 1963. VERNON: This is an outright lie by Epstein. The final WRITTEN opinion from the Kroll Agency was that Kroll found "NO OTHER PLACE" that James Files was on 11/22/63. Repeat: THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT LIE BY EPSTEIN. EPSTEIN: We then placed a call to Files from Dick Clark's office (DC was producer), and I interviewed Files about Kroll findings. VERNON: I do not recall Epstein interviewing James Files, at least, not when I was present and I was the only one who could get Files on the phone for I had a personal clearance from the Warden. I do know that several of Epstein's questions regarding James Files were asked directly to Mr. Files by Barry Adelman and myself from Barry's office. The answers provided were given directly to Epstein and/or the lady lawyer from NBC. I do not recall Epstein interviewing Files. EPSTEIN: He (James Files) said he had a twin brother, who no one knew about, and whom he met shortly before November 22, and who he murdered after November 22. He said it was his twin brother in hospital with his wife, not him. His wife, however, said there was no twin, and Kroll confirmed there was no twin. VERNON: This is an outright lie by Epstein. James Files never stated that he had a "twin brother". This is an outright lie by Epstein. The story of Files having a twin brother was fabricated by Files' daughter, ex-wife, a Priest and a mob lawyer in Chicago to try to disillusion NBC, or anyone for that matter, and make Files not believable. It was a nice try but it didn't work. Houston criminal attorney Don Ervin immediately recognized it as a lie and told me specifically that is was a fabrication and that the old mob lawyer was part of it..before I knew the truth about the matter, I might add. This also caused me to break a promise to James Files and that was I was not to go "into his family" for any reason. The same afternoon I became of aware of the "twin brother story".I spoke personally with James Files' father, half brother (a minister) and his mother's sister, who literally raised Files. I knew almost immediately that there was no twin brother. I also spoke to Files. I told him what I knew and he told me the truth.that the story HAD been fabricated by the wife/daughter, Priest and lawyer and that he had called his ex-wife and she came to the prison at his request. She told Files that she still loved him and that she was trying to protect him over the JFK assassination. Files told her that if she was to be called in front of a grand jury to tell the truth for he did not want to see her go to jail. I asked Files if he would also tell the people at dick clark productions the truth about the matter. He said he would. I called for my car and driver and arrived at Dick's office within 10 minutes or so. Barry Adelman and I called James Files. Files told Barry exactly what he had told me less than a half hour earlier. The phone call was recorded, with Files permission, and it is in the evidence. At no time did James Files EVER say he had a twin brother. Kroll confirmed nothing. Repeat: THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT LIE BY EPSTEIN. EPSTEIN: My view then and now is that Files invented the story for the money it would earn him. VERNON: James Files has never asked us for one single penny nor have we ever given James Files any money. The night before Epstein left Los Angleles, I called him at his hotel. I asked him why NBC cancelled our program. Epstein told me that it was because we had received "too much press" (his exact words) and he cited a small article in the Beaumont Enterprise. I asked if he realized that on Easter Sunday, 15,000 people MIGHT read the Beaumont Enterprise and Epstein told me he had to pack for he was leaving early. I told him we will meet again. A few months later, Mike Cochran of the Associated Press (now retired) called me to tell me that the New York Post had written a piece on us. I knew nothing about it and called my New York attorney and had her acquire the article. The Post had run a huge piece on their infamous "PAGE 6" gossip page, featuring Epstein, and the piece was filled with lies and blatant misrepresentations. I called the reporter, Richard Johnson. I talked to him like a yard dog. I was furious. How could some hack reporter do an article on James Files and not contact me, the producer, for my input? It doesn't happen. Of particular interest to me was the article featured quotes from Epstein and Epstein had signed a confidentiality agreement with NBC, as we did. Oh well.. The conclusion is clear and very simple: Epstein is CIA and he killed our program. Now, ask yourself one question: Why? If our program was NOT TRUE, what does it matter? No one ever tried to stop Nigel Turner or Oliver Stone or Mark Lane..they told their stories..they presented their views...why stop the story of James Files? So I now have experienced the full blunt force of the CIA disinfo machine. They call it "Damage Control." Hind sight is always 20/20. I should never have slapped Epstein on the back and dislodged the chicken bone from his throat. I should have let the lying son of a bitch die. -------- Tuesday, September 16, 2003 Robert G. Vernon

18. http://cuban-exile.com/menu2/2fonzi.html Shackley's second man in command of JM/Wave is David Sanchez Morales, who is also working close with David Atlee Phillips and develops a reputation as "best CIA assassin for Latin America". Cuban State security officials speculate that Morales was the "dark complexed man" as seen by several witnesses in the 6th floor window of the Texas School Book Depository. Just after telling friends he was afraid of his "own people", and just before he was scheduled to testify for the House Select Committee of Assassinations, Morales died in 1977 a sudden heart attack under mysterious circumstances. Under influence of alcohol, he had hinted to close friends that he had been involved in the Kennedy assassination (We took care of that bastard, didn't we?"). Morales was a big muscular man of very dark complexion, nicknamed "el Indio". Several witnesses on Dealey Plaza, most of whom were not called to testify before the Warren Commission, described a man fitting Morales. These witnesses saw such a man in the windows of the sixth floor of the Texas School Book depository shortly before Kennedy's motorcade passed by, as well as minutes after the shooting, fleeing from the back of the building with two other men in a station wagon. 4. Espionage The CIA broke with its traditions and even with the federal laws of the United States when it set up a station in Miami to direct its work against Cuba. JM/Wave has an immense payroll, with a large number of military and explosives instructors (for training in terrorist actions) and case officers who recruit agents from among the Cubans in Miami and their contacts in Cuba. The most picturesque and dangerous of those CIA men may well have been David Sánchez Morales ("El Indio"), who was an important figure at the Havana station between 1958 and 1960, working under the cover of an advertising agency headed by another CIA officer, David A. Phillips. "El Indio" took part in the preparations for the Bay of Pigs invasion and in the creation of JM/Wave, in which he was of key importance in the area of "operations" - a vague term which covers all kinds of illegal undercover actions which generally take the lives of innocent people. In the late 1970s, Morales was linked with an operative in the Southern Cone whose code name was "Condor." Before that, he took part in Operation Phoenix, in Laos and Vietnam. The U.S. espionage activities against Cuba were dealt a hard blow in 1987, when Cuban Security publicly revealed the activities of the CIA station in Havana, based on information given by 27 double agents whom the CIA had recruited in the United States but who, in fact, worked for the Cubans.
19. Good piece! Even some new bits for me. Maybe you could edit it to include Rose Cheramie. Very significant mysterious death. I like to add this: David Ferrie died a mysterious death, which was ruled a suicide, only two days before he was scheduled to testify in the famous trial of District Attorney Jim Garrison, who accused him of being part of a conspiracy in the murder of JFK. David Ferrie had denied knowing Oswald. Jim Garrison later said he would have loved to have this picture at the time of his trial. David Ferrie died of a brain heamorrhage. James Files says the brain heamorrhage was inflicted with a nail file through the roof of the mouth, but he refuses to reveal his source. Note: Jim Garrison, David Ferrie and Guy Banister are played by Kevin Costner, Joe Pesci and Loe Asner in Oliver Stone's movie "JFK". Wim

It is all FREE! Providing valuable supplemental information to previous programs about the cancer-causing monkey virus SV40, this broadcast highlights articles from the mainstream press that reinforce the remarkable research done by Ed Haslam, the author of the vitally important recent book Mary, Ferrie and the Monkey Virus: The Story of an Underground Medical Laboratory. (For more about Ed and his historic research, see, among other programs, FTR#’s 16, 19, 62, 63, 76, 198, 199, 269, 308. In particular, the listener is referred to FTR#19, a detailed, three-hour interview with Ed Haslam that covers the subject material of his book at length and in detail.) A contaminant in the original polio vaccine, the SV40 appears to be the cause of a soft-tissue cancer epidemic. 1. The program begins with discussion of a front-page story in the San Francisco Chronicle that is strongly supportive of information presented in previous programs about SV40. “A growing number of medical researchers fear that a monkey virus that contaminated the polio vaccine given to tens of millions of Americans in the 1950’s and ‘60’s may be causing rare human cancers. For four decades, government officials have insisted that there is no evidence the simian virus called SV40 is harmful to humans. But in recent years, dozens of scientific studies have found the virus in a steadily increasing number of rare brain, bone and lung-related tumors—the same malignant cancer SV40 causes in lab animals.” (“Rogue Virus in the Vaccine” by William Carlsen; San Francisco Chronicle; p. A1.) 2. As reported in previous programs on SV40, there is evidence that the virus (and, consequently, the cancers it causes) are contagious. “Even more troubling, the virus has been detected in tumors removed from people never inoculated with the contaminated vaccine, leading some to worry that those infected by the vaccine might be spreading SV40.” (Idem.) 3. The number of researchers who feel that SV40 is a threat is growing. “The discovery of SV40 in human tumors has generated intense debate within the scientific community, pitting a handful of government health officials, who believe that the virus is harmless, against researchers from Boston to China who now suspect SV40 may be a human carcinogen. At stake are millions of research dollars and potential medical treatments for those afflicted with the cancers SV40 may be causing.” (Ibid.; pp. A1-A16.) 4. Four years after the development of the Salk vaccine, Bernice Eddy of the National Institutes of Health discovered the contamination of the vaccine with SV40. “Four years later, Bernice Eddy, a researcher at the National Institutes of Health, noticed something strange while looking through her microscope. Monkey kidney cells—the same kind used to make the vaccine—were dying without apparent cause. So she tried an experiment. She prepared kidney extracts from eight to 10 rhesus monkeys and injected tiny amounts under the skin of 23 new born hamsters. Within nine months, ‘large, malignant, subcutaneous tumors’ appeared on 20 of the animals.” (Ibid.; p. A16.) 5. Eddy’s results were dismissed by NIH researchers. “On July 6, 1960, concerned that a monkey virus might be contaminating the polio vaccine, Eddy took her findings to Dr. Joseph Smadel, chief of the NIH’s biologics division. Smadel dismissed the tumors as harmless ‘lumps.’ The same year, however, at a Merck laboratory in Pennsylvania, Dr. Maurice Hilleman and Dr. Ben Sweet isolated the virus. They called it simian virus 40, or SV40, because it was the 40th virus found in rhesus kidney tissue.” (Idem.) 6. Other experts, however, shared Eddy’s concern. “But U.S. Public Health Service officials were worried. Tests had found SV40 in both the Sabin and Salk vaccines—it was later estimated that as much as a third of the Salk vaccine was tainted—and that SV40 was causing cancer in lab animals. In early 1961, they quietly met with the agency’s top vaccine advisers. The agency found no evidence that the virus had been harmful to humans, but in March, the officials ordered manufacturers to eliminate SV40 from all future vaccine. New procedures were adopted to neutralize the tainted polio virus seed stock and SV40-free African green monkeys were used to produce the bulk vaccine instead of rhesus monkeys.” (Idem.) 7. Although the vaccine-making procedures had been altered, the public was kept in the dark. “But officials did not recall contaminated Salk vaccine—more than a year’s supply—still in the hands of the nation’s doctors. And they did not notify the public of the contamination and SV40’s carcinogenic effect on newborn hamsters. [Maurice] Hilleman would later explain that government officials were worried that any potentially negative information could ignite a panic and jeopardize the vaccination campaign. The first public disclosure that the Salk vaccine was contaminated came in the New York Times on July 26, 1961. A story on Page 33 reported that Merck and other manufacturers had halted production until they could get a ‘monkey virus’ out of the vaccine. When asked to comment, the U.S. Public Health Service stressed there was no evidence the virus was dangerous.” (Idem.) 8. As discussed in FTR#’s 198, 199, Michele Carbone was able to confirm the contamination of the vaccine. In addition, Carbone discovered that the vaccine contained a second form of SV40 that may have continued to contaminate vaccines! “For years, researchers had believed that all SV40-contaminated Salk vaccine made between 1955 and 1963 had been used or discarded. Then in 1999, Carbone was contacted by a former public health director in Oak Park, Ill., who said he had seven sealed vials of vaccine dated October 1955 in a refrigerator in his basement. Carbone, who had left the NIH and joined the faculty at Loyola University Medical Center, ran tests on the vaccine and made a startling discovery: Not only was the vaccine contaminated, it contained a second form of the virus—an ‘archetypal’ SV40 strain.” (Ibid.; p. A17.) 9. The continued contamination of the vaccine-making process is highlighted in the passage that follows. “Although manufacturers switched from rhesus monkeys to SV40-free green African monkeys to grow the bulk vaccine in 1961, they have continued to use potentially contaminated polio seed strains originally grown on the rhesus monkey tissue to start the bulk vaccine process. [italics are Mr. Emory’s] Manufacturers check the purity of their vaccine with a series of 14-day tests to detect whether any SV40 slipped through. But when Carbone replicated the tests, he found that the second, slower-growing ‘archetypal’ strain took 19 days to emerge. It was possible, Carbone noted in a published report, that this second strain of SV40 had been evading manufacturers’ screening procedures for years—and infecting vaccine recipients after 1962.” (Idem.) 10. The National Cancer Institute continues to drag its feet with regard to SV40 and its relationship to human cancer. Historically, that institution is deeply tainted. More about that later in this program description. “But the NCI recently acknowledged that there is evidence to suggest that SV40 ‘may be associated with human cancer.’ The NCI statement, released last month, also said that SV40’s interaction with ‘tumor suppressor proteins’ indicates ‘possible mechanisms that could contribute to the development of cancer.’ Top NCI officials declined to be interviewed on the record for this report. Fraumeni also declined several requests for an in interview. Dr. James Goedert, the chief of the NCI’s Viral Epidemiology Branch who supervised Strickler’s work, said that if SV40 is in human tumors, it must be at extremely low levels. To critics who claim the government has down played SV40’s potential health risks, Goedert responded: ‘Absolutely not.’ He acknowledged that research is needed to resolve the question of whether SV40 is prevalent in the human population and, if so, how it might be spreading. But Goedert said he has no plans for such studies. ‘It’s not our highest priority,’ he said.” (Idem.) 11. A subsequent article by William Carlsen supplements the above information concerning the SV40 contamination of more recent vaccines. “A monkey virus linked to human cancers may have contaminated the oral polio vaccine for years after the U.S. government ordered manufacturers to remove it, according to drug company documents obtained by The Chronicle. The Chronicle reported last week that the simian virus SV40 had contaminated early polio vaccine given to millions of Americans. When health officials discovered in 1961 that SV40 caused malignant tumors in lab animals, they ordered the virus eliminated from all future vaccine.” (“New Documents Show the Monkey Virus is Present in More Recent Polio Vaccine” by William Carlsen; San Francisco Chronicle; 7/22/2001; p. A6.) 12. More details about the subsequent contamination indicate the possibility of liability. (As this description is being written, the Homeland Security Act has been passed containing a clause eliminating the civic liability of vaccine makers for the product that they manufacture.) “But internal memos from Lederle Laboratories, the chief producer of polio vaccine in the United States, indicate SV40 may not have been completely removed. According to one memo, SV40 was found in three of 15 lots of the oral vaccine seven months after the federal directive was issued in March 1961. Lederle released the contaminated vaccine to the public anyway, the memo shows. The documents also suggest that the company failed to test the monkey-kidney seed strains used to make the bulk polio vaccine for contamination, despite a written warning from Dr. Albert Sabin, who developed the oral vaccine.” (Idem.) 13. Next, the broadcast sets forth the work of one of Bernice Eddy’s heroic (and relatively unrecognized) co-workers, Sarah Stewart. After relating the disastrous discovery of the SV40 contamination of the vaccine, the text highlights Ms. Stewart’s work. “In the aftermath of the debacle, Bernice Eddy was taken off of polio research and transferred to the influenza section by the thankless NIH management. She shared her frustrations with a small group of women scientists who ate brown-bag lunches on the steps of one of the laboratories. There, Eddy met a tenacious woman scientist named Sarah Stewart, who was waging her own battle against the official paradigms of bureaucratic medicine. Bernice Eddy and Sarah Stewart became close friends.” (Mary, Ferrie and the Monkey Virus: The Story of an Underground Medical Laboratory; Copyright 1995 [sC]; Wordsworth Press; p. 97. Again, listeners are encouraged to download the six-part, three interview with Ed Haslam in order to obtain a more complete overview of the discussion. http://archive.wfmu.org:5555/archive/DX/.) 14. Although her contributions remain unrecognized, Sarah Stewart’s work led to the application of recombinant DNA, in addition to confirming the role of viruses in the development of cancer. “Sarah Stewart’s name remains virtually unknown today despite her huge contribution to modern medicine. Not only did she prove that some cancers were caused by viruses, but subsequent research on the virus she discovered led o the discovery of DNA recombination, which is the most powerful tool in medical research today.” (Idem.) 15. Ms. Stewart’s work on cancer-causing viruses supplemented the work of Bernice Eddy and influenced and anticipated the efforts of their collaborator, Dr. Mary Sherman. “From the beginning, Sarah Stewart promoted the idea that cancer was caused by viruses. Due to this, she was not well accepted by the NIH or NCI staffs who described her as ‘an eccentric lady’ determined to prove her theory was right. ‘No one believed her . . .’ Finally, she was given access to an NCI laboratory in Bethesda where she could try to prove her theories. In 1953, she almost succeeded, but her work was not accepted by the ruling crowd at NIH. They found her methods sloppy and objected to the fact that she did not culture her viruses. So in 1956, her lunch partner Bernice Eddy showed Sarah Stewart how to grow her viruses in a culture of mouse cells. She now had all the ingredients she needed and began a series of experiments which are called ‘classic’ by modern day NIH researchers.” (Ibid.; p. 98.) 16. Stewart’s work was rejected by many of her colleagues. Notable among those colleagues was her supervisor Alan Rabson—a name to remember in the context of discussion to follow. “As her work progressed, she realized she stood on the edge of an extremely important discovery and became very protective of her techniques. In staff presentations, she would bewilder NIH pathologists by showing them slides of things they had never seen before. Then, when they asked how she produced her results, she would giggle and say ‘It’s a secret.’ To quote her supervisor Alan Rabson: ‘She drove everybody crazy.’” (Idem.) 17. Stewart and Eddy discovered a carcinogenic virus called “polyoma,” which shed a great deal of light on the discovery of SV40. “In 1957, Stewart and Eddy discovered the polyoma virus which produced several types of cancer in a variety of small mammals. Polyoma proved that some cancers were indeed caused by viruses. Her discovery officially threw open the doors of cancer virology. As Rabson phrased it, ‘Suddenly, the whole place just exploded after Sarah found polyoma.’ It was the beginning of a new era of hope. But it raised some dark questions about earlier deeds. Before long Yale’s laboratory discovered that the polyoma virus that had produced the cancer in Stewart’s mice and hamsters turned out to be virtually identical to Simian Virus #40 (SV-40), a monkey virus that caused cancer.’” (Idem.) 18. Highlighting the discussion that is presented in the first part of the program, Mr. Haslam relates Bernice Eddy’s discovery of the contamination of the polio vaccine. He then goes on to describe the reaction of the NIH to her disclosures. “In October 1960, Eddy gave a talk to the Cancer Society in New York and, without warning NIH in advance, announced that she had examined cells from the monkeys kidneys in which the polio virus was grown and had found they were infected with cancer causing viruses! Her inference was clear: There were cancer-causing monkey viruses in the polio vaccine! This was tantamount to forecasting an epidemic of cancer in America! When the word got back to her NIH bosses, they exploded in anger. When the cussing stopped, they crushed Bernice Eddy professionally. Any mention of cancer-causing monkey viruses in the polio vaccine was not welcomed by NIH. They took away her lab, destroyed her animals, put her under a gag order, prevented her from attending professional meetings, and delayed publication of her scientific paper. In the words of Edward Shorter, author of The Health Century, ‘Her treatment became a scandal within the scientific community.’ Later, it became the subject of a congressional inquiry. In the words of Dr. Lawrence Kilham, a fellow NIH researcher who wrote a latter of protest to the Surgeon General’s office, ‘the presence of a cancer virus in the polio virus vaccine is the matter demanding full investigation . . .’” (Ibid.; pp. 98-99.) 19. In that context, one should note the following, referenced from the Congressional Record, U.S. Senate, Consumer Safety Act of 1972. In turn, the quote is from Ruth Kirchstein of the NIH. Along with the aforementioned Alan Rabson, hers is a name to be remembered. “The insiders already knew there was a cancer-causing virus in the polio vaccine, but they had not announced it. . .” (Ibid.; p. 99.) 20. The media cover-up of the SV40 contamination followed the institutional cover-up. “On the heels of the polio fiasco, the medical hierarchy feared the judgment of the masses. Their ability to destroy a painstakingly constructed scientific career overnight had been clearly proven. Another spate of bad news might shatter the public’s confidence in vaccines altogether. Where would the world be then? Where would the public health establishment be then? As SV40 discoverer Maurice Hilleman put it, the government kept the contamination of the polio vaccine secret to ‘avoid public hysteria.’” (Ibid.; pp. 99-100.) 21. In that context, it is worth noting that Sarah Stewart and Bernice Eddy had developed a prototypical vaccine to protect animals against polyoma as early as 1959! “Developing a vaccine against a spectrum of cancer-causing monkey viruses already inoculated into millions of people in the polio vaccine was at best a long shot. But there was some evidence that anti-cancer vaccines were possible. Quoting Time magazine [“The New War on Cancer via Virus Research & Chemotherapy;” 7/27/1959; p. 54.]: ‘Stewart and Eddy have gone a vital step farther . . . and made a vaccine that protects a big majority of normally susceptible animals against the polyoma virus’s effects.’” (Ibid.; p. 104.) 22. After discussing the relationship between Dr. Mary Sherman, David Ferrie, Dr. Alton Ochsner (like David Ferrie, a key figure in the investigation into the JFK assassination) and the (almost certain) work that was underway in New Orleans on a cancer vaccine, Mr. Haslam goes on to describe the relationship between Dr. Mary Sherman, the aforementioned Ruth Kirchstein and Alan Rabson. “Mary Sherman also knew Ruth Kirchstein at NIH. Kirchstein, who was thirteen years younger than Sherman, was an instructor at Tulane Medical School in 1954 and 1955. During these years, Mary was an Associate Professor in Tulane’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery and was that department’s specialist in pathology. Both Sherman and Kirchstein had common interests in pathology and cancer and taught in the same medical school. It is reasonable to assume they knew each other well. In 1957, immediately following the polio shake-up, Kirchstein went to the National Institute of Health where she stayed for the rest of her career. At NIH, Kirschstein began working as a pathologist in the Biologics division where Bernice Eddy worked. Her specialties were listed in the medical directories as virology, polio, and oncology. But since Kirschstein was barely out of medical school when Sherman, Stewart and Eddy were already nationally recognized authorities, I do not consider their direct contact to be very strong, but there are two things about Kirschstein that should be kept in mind. First, once at NIH, Kirschstein dated and later married, Alan Rabson, who was Sarah Stewart’s supervisor. Therefore, she was in a position to know things about both Stewart and Eddy’s research that she might not have known otherwise. And secondly, Kirchstein credits much of her professional success to the personal support and professional guidance of Tulane Medical School’s Chief of Surgery, Dr. Alton Ochsner, who is known to have enjoyed using his considerable contacts to help Tulane medical graduates find good professional positions. Did Kirschstein keep Ochsner informed about the research activities at NIH and NCI? It would be hard to criticize her for keeping her mentor informed about the progress of cancer research at the national labs, especially since he was the former president of the American Cancer Society and held many important positions in the world of medicine. Additionally, as an expert in polio who lived in New Orleans in 1955, Kirschstein would also have been keenly aware of the problems that Dr. Ochsner faced after injecting his grandchildren with Salk’s polio vaccine. When Eddy and Hilleman broke the news about the cancer-causing monkey virus in the polio vaccine, it would not have been unreasonable for Kirschstein to notify Ochsner about the danger his granddaughter faced. Noting the coincidence of the time frame, we ask the question: ‘Did the ‘Sensitive Position’ that Dr. Ochsner was cleared for in October 1959 have anything to do with a secret attempt to develop a cancer vaccine to protect the American public from an epidemic of cancer?’” (Ibid.; pp. 105-106.) 23. Mr. Haslam goes on to develop more connections between biological warfare research, the NIH, New Orleans and the milieu of the Kennedy assassination. (Full detail must obtained from FTR#19 and other programs about the JFK assassination. The latter include, among other programs: The Guns of November, Parts I-IV, RFA#’s 11-13, 15, 37—all available from Spitfire—and FTR#’s 47, 54, 108, 120, 188, 190, 191, 244, 246, 288. For more about the Col. Jose A. Rivera connection, see FTR#’s 62, 63, 76.) “There were other connections between NIH and New Orleans. Of particular interest was Jose Rivera, M.D. Ph.D., who sat on the NIH Board of Directors in the 1960’s. We will note that the Dr. Rivera was really Col. Jose A. Rivera, one of the U.S. Army’s top experts in biological warfare, and that in the summer of 1963 he was in New Orleans handing out research grants from NIH (Institute for Neurological Diseases and Blindness) to Tulane Medical School, LSU Medical School, and the Ochsner Clinic. It is not my objective to pin Ferrie’s possession of the treatise on any one person, but I am trying to show that there were numerous connections between NCI and New Orleans, any one of which might explain how Mary Sherman and/or David Ferrie wound up with an internal document from NIH or NCI.” (Ibid.; p. 106.) 24. In the second edition of his book, Mr. Haslam highlights another intriguing detail about the connection between the JFK assassination and the investigation into the SV40/cancer connection. “ ‘The Warren Commission Volumes. The FBI went to the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital on 11/25/63 looking for evidence of either Lee Harvey Oswald or A.J. Hidell. They went back a second time on 11/26.’ The FBI was looking for Oswald at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital! I could hardly believe my ears. ‘Why?’ ‘According to the Dallas Police, Oswald had a vaccination card issued to him by the U.S. Public Health Service on 6/8/63, when he lived at 4907 Magazine Street in New Orleans. It was issued to Lee Harvey Oswald, signed by Dr. A.J. Hidell. The FBI reports are in Volume 19. I’ll send you the citations.’ Had Lee Harvey Oswald been on the grounds of the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital at the time the linear particle accelerator was there? Take a look at this map. [For obvious reasons, Mr. Emory cannot reproduce the map here. Dr. Ochsner’s house, Oswald’s apartment, Children’s Hospital, the Infectious Disease Laboratory Building and the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital are within a 1-mile radius of one another.]” (Ibid.; p.127.) 25. Subsequently, Dr. Ruth Kirchstein went on to become Acting Director of the National Institutes of Health. “Mr. Chairman and Members of the Committee: I am Ruth Kirchstein, the Acting Director of the National Institutes of Health.” (“Department of Health and Human Services: Statement by Dr. Ruth L. Kirschstein Acting Director, National Institutes of Health on Fiscal Year 2001 President’s Budget Request for the National Institute of Health;” 2/15/2000; accessed at www.nih.gov/about/director/02152000.htm .) 26. Alan (“Al”) Rabson went on to become the Deputy Director of the National Cancer Institute. “NIH WORKING GROUP ON PRIORITY SETTING: [Names include] Al Rabson—Deputy Director, National Cancer Institute.” (“Setting Research Priorities at the National Institutes of Health;” September/1997; p. 10; accessed at: www.nih.gov/news/ResPriority/priority.htm .) 27. Although it was not in the original broadcast of FTR#316, an article published on the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle on 3/9/2002 supplemented the material on the SV40/cancer connection in an important way. Referencing two articles from the prestigious British medical journal The Lancet, the article implicates SV40 in the development of non-Hodgkins lymphoma—one of the soft tissue cancers that Mr. Haslam documents as having assumed epidemic proportions. (“Simian Virus in Polio Shots Tied to Cancer: Two Studies Support Widely Disputed Theory” by William Carlsen; San Francisco Chronicle; 3/9/2002; p.A1; accessed at: http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file...Lwww.sfgate.com .) It is included below as a separate “rtf” file for the convenience of the listener. “Scientists have found traces of a monkey virus that contaminated the polio vaccine in the 1950s in a common form of highly malignant human cancer that has mysteriously doubled in incidence over the past 30 years. Two studies, published yesterday in the British journal Lancet, found a link between the virus, called SV40, and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, a disorder ranked fourth or fifth among cancer deaths in the United States among women and men, respectively. Results suggest that the virus may play a much wider role in cancer than previously suspected.” (“Simian Virus in Polio Shots Tied to Cancer: Two Studies Support Widely Disputed Theory” by William Carlsen; San Francisco Chronicle; 3/9/2002; p.A1; accessed at: http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file.../www.sfgate.com .) “‘No obvious risk factors have emerged for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in the general population, but a viral cause has been postulated,’ said a group of eight researchers at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas led by Dr. Janet Butel. ‘This finding sheds new light on the possible genesis of (this) important group of malignant disorders.’ The scientists added that their findings may also offer hope for new therapies for the malignancies.” “In laboratory tests, hamsters injected with SV40 developed a variety of malignant tumors, but early government studies indicated that the virus appeared to have no negative effect in humans who had been exposed. That view began to change in the 1990s when DNA detection techniques became much more refined and evidence of the virus started showing up in human tumors.” “The Salk polio vaccine, administered by injection in the United States and worldwide from 1955 through 1963, was grown on minced kidney tissue from rhesus monkeys. At the time, the manufacturing process was considered safe. But in 1960, it was discovered that large batches of the vaccine were contaminated with the simian virus later named SV40. An estimated 90 million Americans received Salk vaccine injections and as many as 30 million were exposed to the virus.” “In laboratory tests, hamsters injected with SV40 developed a variety of malignant tumors, but early government studies indicated that the virus appeared to have no negative effect in humans who had been exposed. That view began to change in the 1990s when DNA detection techniques became much more refined and evidence of the virus started showing up in human tumors.” “The group included rare brain, bone and lung-related cancers called mesotheliomas. Other research has also turned up SV40 in tumors of children and adults born after the contaminated vaccine was taken off the market in 1963, leading to the still-unsolved mystery of how the virus is being transmitted.” “Yesterday's reports indicate that SV40 may be involved in a much broader group of human cancers, playing a possible role in nearly half of the 55,000 new cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma diagnosed annually. The cancer, which can be highly aggressive, has been associated with HIV- positive patients, and it was thought that the suppression of the immune system in these patients may have had a connection with the dramatic increase in lymphomas since 1970.” “The new studies examined lymphomas from HIV-positive and -negative patients. Results suggested that both groups had either about the same level of SV40 DNA fragments, or that the HIV-negative samples had a greater incidence.” “The second group of researchers were at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Remarkably, both groups of researchers using slightly different detection techniques came up with almost identical results: SV40 fragments were found in 42 percent of 154 lymphomas sampled in one study, while the other found 43 percent in 68 cases.” “No virus was detected by either study in nonmalignant lymphoid samples and other cancers used as controls. A Chronicle investigation reported last year that there is a heated controversy surrounding detection of SV40 and that most U.S. government's studies over the past decade have debunked the theory that SV40 is causing human cancer or is even present in tumors.” “But The Chronicle found that more than 60 studies from 30 laboratories around the world have reported detections of the virus in human malignancies. ‘I've been in meetings where people say there is nothing to it,’ said Dr. Jay A. Levy, a renowned virologist at the University of California at San Francisco. ‘That attitude is wrong.’” “Levy said he had carefully reviewed the papers published yesterday and was impressed with the research. ‘You just can't walk away from it,’ he said, noting that the association found was very strong. ‘But there is still quite a difference between association and causation,’ he added, ‘and proving causation is very difficult.’” “Dr. Adi Gazdar of the University of Texas, who led the second study, said yesterday that the ‘data is very, very solid.’ He said it had to be more than coincidence that the four types of tumors found in hamsters after injection with SV40 -- brain, bone, mesothelioma and lymphomas -- are now exactly the same tumor types in humans found with detectable levels of SV40.” “‘The chances are 10 million to 1 it is a coincidence,’ he said. Evidence of how the virus works in tumors is growing as research shows that proteins from SV40 have a powerful effect in turning off tumor suppressor genes in humans.” “Gazdar and the other researchers said that the recent SV40 discoveries also could help lead to effective cancer treatment, by using SV40 as a target for therapies. ‘A vaccine targeting SV40 in mesothelioma is now being developed,’ he said. ‘But it's still only a potential therapy, and we don't know if it will work yet.’” “He said that U.S. officials have all but ignored the SV40 detections and that government funding and support for research has been nonexistent. One reason given by Gazdar and other scientists is that the government is worried about its role in promoting polio vaccination campaigns in the 1950s. ‘And maybe it's because the first SV40-related cancers that were discovered were such rare ones,’ Gazdar said. ‘But you can't ignore lymphoma; it's too widespread and too important a cancer. Jackie Kennedy and a lot of other well- known people have died from it [italics are Mr. Emory’s].’”
23. Is there more information on this unpublished manuscript? Can it be found on the web? Or is it his book "The shadow warrior" Wim
24. Oh, and one more thing: Don't believe everything you read on the Internet, especially not on McAdams' website. Mary Sherman was not only a surgeon, but also a BONE CANCER SPECIALIST, BONE CANCER SPECIALIST, BONE CANCER SPECIALIST. She was especially brought down from Chicago by Ochsner to head his bone clinic. She was also on the BOARD of his CANCER clinic. Now why is that not in his biography???? And why has the picture of board members including Mary Sherman been removed from the second printing onwards? Wim
