  1. The winning days are gone

Because I know just where I'm seeing

    Was given eyes I know

    I can hear

    Cause underneath there's gold

I need to get around to find it

And when I want to go

    I can dream

    I've been trying

    All my time

    I'm just seeing it rise

Cause it could be the land that's over me

So I just wanna let it breathe

    Get up and go outside

It can help your mind too

    Get up don't hide away

Cause I know where they go

I´ve seen you down when I was flying

    I'm sinking like a stone

    I can´t breathe

    I've been trying...

    Winning Days - The Vines

  2. I posted the below on another RFK Forum. It's amazing to read how the law enforcement officials

try to put pressure on witnesses to change their stories.

    -----

I've found this youtube video where Sandra Serrano

is being interviewed by Hernandez who is

trying to convince her that she actually didn't see

the girl in the polka dot dress.

H- : Right, okay, here's the thing. You're an intelligent young girl.

You know that for some reason this was made up.

... Don't shame his (RFK) death by keeping this thing up.

    S- : I-I seen those people!

H- : No, no, no, no Sandy, remember what I told you about that.

You can't say you saw something.

    S- : I know - but I seen them!

    ...

H- : One of these days you're going to be a mother and you know

you can't live a life of shame knowing what you're doing

    right now is wrong.

    S- : Well, I don't think I'm doing anything wrong.

H- : You know that this is wrong Sandy.

    S- : I remember seeing a girl!

    ...

The whole interview can be found in Part 1 and 2 of RFK Assassination

: The Girl In The Polka Dot Dress.

  3. Royal National Theatre

    http://www.nt-online.org/?lid=7058

The official website of the Royal National Theatre. The archive section will be particularly useful to the theatre student as it enables you to obtain information on previous productions. At the moment this only includes performances since 1998 but the website also provides a documentary record of the Royal National Theatre since its inception in 1963. The Archive can also supply photocopies of the programme notes and the major reviews and associated articles about any past National Theatre production.

About Guide to the British Theatre

    http://theater.about.com/

A superb websites for students of the British Theatre. Like other About Guides it includes extensive site reviews, feature articles and discussion areas.

    Hackney Empire

    http://www.hackneyempire.co.uk/

In 1901 the architect, Frank Matcham, modelled his design of Hackney Empire on the great Italian opera houses of the 18th century. However, the building also reflected the technology of the time by becoming Britain's first all electric theatre. Combining tradition and the latest developments in technology is also in evidence in this beautifully designed website. Its main feature is a history of the theatre and this can be viewed as a straight narrative or by using an animated timeline.

    Drama Teacher

    http://groups.msn.com/dramateacher/_homepa...?pgmarket=en-us

Dramateacher is a site devoted to the sharing of resources, discussion, links, book recommendations, exercises, quotes and everything that involves teaching drama. At present there are over 180 files which can be downloaded and used to prepare lessons. Members are encouraged to contribute to the site with their own resources and links so that the site continues to grow.

Thank you so much for the useful links.

Reminds me of the time I failed the drama class because the professor didn't like my comments on Godot! :)

  4. My question is - was there anything like this in any other European country?

Rock music has never been overtly political in the UK. This is probably based on the idea that people do not really listen to the words of these songs. Those with strong political views have tended to be attracted to folk music.

There have been political implications to the development of rock music. In the 1960s I liked black music (blues, soul, jazz) from America. This was partly because of my interest in the struggle for black civil rights. I therefore refused to buy white cover versions of this music (Elvis Presley, Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc). However, groups like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones helped to publicize the existence of this black music. I can remember John Lennon giving a radio interview where he raved about the music of the much neglected Arthur Alexander. Even after this publicity Alexander failed to sell many records but it did pave the way for other artists such as Marvin Gaye. Before the Beatles came along I had to buy records by records by Marvin Gaye, Mary Wells, Stevie Wonder from America. The same was true of the Beatles and other groups from this period. It is no coincidence that so many of these groups lived in Liverpool. Apparently, they used to get these black records from sailors returning from the States.

In time the Beatles and the Rolling Stones developed their own unique style of song writing. However, they would be the first to admit that they relied heavily on the inspiration of those early black artists.

One of the most beautiful covers I've ever heard is Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Muse.

Matt Bellamy's incredibly passionate vocal makes the song better than the original version.

  5. Arthur Miller has always been one of the inspirational playwrights for me as well as Tennessee Williams,

    Eugene O'Neil, Harold Pinter, etc.

Crucible and Death of A Salesman were the plays I loved studying the most in my university years.

Two great plays. Have you read his autobiography, Timebends? Great book.

No, I haven't read it yet but I'm sure it's a great work.

I've always loved plays and short stories. The ones I'll never forget are The Dark Room by Tennessee Williams, which I translated into

Turkish for a literature journal in 2000, The Tell Tale Heart by Poe and One Man's Destiny by Sholokhov, the '65 Nobel Prize winner short

    story.

  7. Like ships without anchors

Wide is the ocean, no islands, no shores

    All is well, only

This is such a lonely feeling to be lonely

    Fame is illusion

Bright are the lights and you -

    You are left in confusion

    All is well, only

This is such a lonely feeling

This is such a lonely feeling

Driving fast, as fast as I can

Or sitting quietly on the windowsill

    You've got all and nothing

Just put no more loneliness on my bill

This is such a lonely feeling

    All songs should be happy

Actors young and soap operas crappy

    Movies are x-rays

Our destinies are choosing our ways

    And what should we do?

    To enjoy life the most

    Or hiding like ghosts?

    All is well, only

This is such a lonely feeling

This is such a lonely feeling
