I have been wondering much the same. One possible explanation for why the MIC and by extension Wall Street might prefer Trump over Biden is that a Democrat controlled government will give access to the progressive wing of the party, even if Biden and Harris represent the center - a slippery slope.

No, no need to worry about the progressive wing of the Democratic party having too much influence in the Biden/Harris presidency.

Mr. Wall Street himself, Mike Bloomberg,  wouldn't have spent 500 million to 1 BILLION of "his own" dollars  ( think about that unprecedented amount ) in a short 88 day campaign run with more television, internet, radio and mailer advertising than any of the other candidates combined ( we got 2 to 3 Bloomberg mailers a day during this run ) to take just enough primary votes away from Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders to get barely winning plurality Biden back into the lead if he thought the anti-Wall Street progressives might have any serious influence in a Biden administration.

Bloomberg's number one priority is the defense of Wall Street imo.

And by the way, Bloomberg made a show telling Democrats after he pulled his campaign run how he personally was going to spend whatever it took of his own money to help the Dem ticket defeat Trump.

So far we've read of his 60 million and maybe another 60 to 70 million donated to the Democratic party efforts. That may sound like a lot, however, compare that to the perhaps 1 BILLION he committed into his own short 90 day Democratic party campaign run to marginalize Sanders and Warren.

And don't forget Bloomberg switched parties ( he actually became a Republican as well as declaring himself an independent ) when it served his own personal political agenda.

All states with Democratic Governors.  Need anyone say more?

Typical Trump political bias selectivity regards empathy and concern, let alone even mentioning this hugely effecting multi-state natural disaster event.

Shameless, outrageous, appalling, divisive, irresponsible lack of "all Americans " presidential leadership ... again, typical Trump.

About the confluence of the Cohen and Woodward books.

Skyhorse distributes now through Simon and Schuster.

They were more or less blindsided by the media shows that Cohen got.  They were not ready with the book to be released at this time.  So they are now trying to keep up with the demand.

But man, talking to Woodward during a reelection year?

The media shows that Cohen got?

    Lester Holt and Rachel Maddow?

From what I can see Cohen's book release media blitz lasted about two days before being washed totally away into a non-story by this Woodward book coverage tsunami.

60 minutes doesn't choose it's story coverage on one day's notice either.

Woodward's Trump expose' book isn't even out until September 15th, yet they are doing a story on it even "before" it's release?

60 Minutes feels Cohen's long term deep and closest one-on-one 10 year long and thousands of meetings and direct serious if not illegal shenanigan interactions relationship with Trump reveal book isn't worth reporting?

But Woodward's 18 short and controlled by Trump talk meet ups ( what maybe 36 hours? ) with Trump is?

I don't know who Woodward's publicist is but they sure have a lot more inside tract pull than Cohen's in getting one of the perfect marketing venues with a 60 Minute story on his yet to be released book.

I'll repeat my main "something is being manipulated here" suspicion points.

Woodward's book coverage is way over done and seems to be partly created to dissipate Cohen's and the way more serious damage to Trump it creates.

I feel Cohen's book revelations about Trump's long term corruption are more important and detailed in their real and extensive illegality versus Woodward's that recount Trump's simple bad personal character dishonesty and personally insulting actions that while appalling are not as serious illegally as the Trump actions Cohen is describing.

Woodward's main hyped block buster Trump revelations so far are that he lied to America about Covid's true seriousness and that he has trashed our military generals and military sacrifice more than has been reported, etc.

We already knew Trump was purposely down playing the Covid-19 threat and promoting unhealthy advise in mask use and social gathering for his own self serving election image reasons and spreading false hope cure predictions that over and over haven't panned out.

How many times can you tell the American people things like...it will be gone by April, it will go away with the heat, it will simply go away miraculously, maybe if we could get something like ultra violet sunlight or bleach into our bodies we could knock this thing out, or it's not a threat to young people, a cure will be here by the election, the Democrats are exaggerating the threat to hurt Trump's election chances and these scary proclamations are a leftist press hoax,  etc.,etc., etc, ad nauseam before you finally lose all faith, trust and respect for such a false reality promoting leader?

It's failed leadership irresponsibility to the most disturbing degree most of us have ever seen in the office of the presidency.

Combined with Trump's exposed lies and trashing of everyone who dares criticizes him, including our highest military officials, it's destroying respect for that office and our elected leaders who condone and enable it and our over-all federal government institutions to a truly crisis in confidence degree imo.

Yet, Woodward's "bad character" Trump charges still aren't as serious or important as many of Cohen's charges against Trump from a clearly law breaking point of view.

From campaign finance violations, to tax cheating, to attempted collusion with known criminals and obviously dirty business deals with Russian oligarchs, etc., etc., Cohen's Trump reveals are more serious and important than Woodward's. It's that simple.

Yet, Woodward and his latest book on Trump and most of our Woodward promoting main stream media have shoved Cohen's more important one into a non-story.

  4. It is truly whacky.

And yes, he does it all the time.

His giving Woodward these media frenzy talking points, which Woodward is now using to make a few million dollars in this book deal, is just another crazy, illogical action on his part.

Like I said...you are forced to consider Trump "wanting" to lose the next election in trying to make sense of something so illogical.

And like the Nicole Wallace political commentator says...Trump's speaking to Woodward and revealing these self-destructive confessions is like an "October Surprise" ... against himself!

But man, talking to Woodward during a reelection year?

In today's press briefing Trump muttered something about why he talked to Woodward in these meet ups talks, some of which were by phone.

He actually said he was "curious" in explaining his agreeing to these one-on-one talk engagements with Woodward.

    Trump "curious?"  Curious about what?

What a nonsensical, totally "not Trump" claim.

I instantly smelled something fishy with this response from Trump.

Trump doesn't do anything just out of "curiosity."

It was such a ludicrous statement I could feel it's suspicious phoniness.

And Trump was still not disparaging Woodward as much as one would think for his igniting this frenzied national media firestorm of criticism over Trump's knowingly false and virus spreading Covid-19 statements, predictions and proposals such as encouraging the non-wearing of masks and downplaying social distancing, etc.

He even praised Woodward in two comments. Something about Woodward being respected by many news media figures?

There's something fishy about the whole Woodward/Trump thing imo.

One of Nicole Wallace's guests today described Trump's briefing statements today as crazy. Another one called this whole Woodward expose thing and Trump's illogical participation in it as Trump's "October Surprise" ... against himself!

I even wondered if Trump is actually trying to lose the election. This Woodward episode with Trump's willing participation is so bizarre and Trump hurting this scenario makes as much sense versus not imo.

Ha!  Of course we need some lightness of spirit through all of this.

W N imagine a similar sunlight blocking scene here as you show in Colorado, only much darker and redder. Truly Martian like. And you know that our suns light is much more diminished on Mars due to it's farther distance from the sun.

If this is what it looks like on Mars, and with not one living plant and no visible water... who the heck would want to go there?

A dark red dust filled sky on a barren, completely void of biological life rock surface. Much of our Earth is a true Garden Of Eden in comparison.

  8. Ty, actually I don't know how to take photos and post them on the forum.

I am incredibly inept with computers and camera work and posting such.

No I phones, I still only have a flip phone!

But if you type in San Francisco fire sky photos I am sure what you see is what we here are seeing regards the skyscape 125 miles directly South of the City.

Today is 40% less dark than yesterday.

Yesterday's sky was really like something you would imagine from a volcano eruption not too far away. So dark, people were driving around with their headlights on in the middle of the day!

Darkest blocked sunlight day I can ever recall in my 68 years on this 65% water covered planet.

  9. Reporting from the Monterey Peninsula California Coast line regards the almost entire statewide Martian red tinged skyscape cloud and haze cover.

It still looks quite sun ray blocking outside to me this morning, although maybe 40% lighter in color and brighter in sunlight. More yellow than red.

I am sure it is the same all up and down our Coast line from above S.F. all the way to L.A..

This sun blocking phenomena is just eerie, creepy, ominous and depressing.

I can tell you it is also hugely effecting the personal and business areas of life throughout our heavily populated state.

People are not going out in this. Even dog walking looks to be curtailed to a minimum. Rec trails are empty. Outdoor dining attendance outside restaurants is nill. It was so dark out all day yesterday it was like a Volcano had erupted near bye.

A month of this and my guess is plants would stop producing chlorophyll.

Yesterday there was no wind. It was eerily still.

Dogs weren't barking, birds weren't flying around and chirping, squirrels weren't skittering about and dropping acorns on our roof. Our local deer population was hiding. We eventually found three laying down under our backyard trees. Very still. I think the animals sense something unnatural and uncomfortable. They were just hunkered down all day. Only increased outdoor nature activity we noticed were dozens of lines of ants. Millions of them all around our house and next to it. What the heck?

Hope by tomorrow this dark ominous veil lifts.

Trump’s Attacks On Bob Woodward Contradicted By One Of His Own Tweets

From the “tweet for everything” department.

President Donald Trump and his allies on Wednesday lashed out at journalist Bob Woodward over revelations in his upcoming book. But those attacks are falling flat in light of an old comment from Trump himself about the famed author.

Woodward’s upcoming book, Rage, reveals that the president lied to the American public about the coronavirus pandemic and knowingly downplayed the infection’s severity and how it’s spread. He told Woodward on Feb. 7 that the virus was deadly, spread via the air and worse than the flu, but over the following weeks, he told the public it was under control, that cases would soon be down to close to zero and even suggested the flu was far worse

On Wednesday, Trump attacked the book as “just another political hit job” and “boring,” and said Woodward was “rapidly fading.” In 2013, however, Trump had a very different opinion of Woodward’s work:

It’s not clear what prompted that specific tweet; it was posted just days after Woodward said Gene Sperling, director of the White House Economic Council under then-President Barack Obama told him he’d regret criticizing the budget cuts under the sequester. Trump also praised some of the other reporting Woodward did on the Obama administration.

Since becoming president, Trump has run hot and cold on Woodward, usually in relation to whatever the author has said or written at any given moment. Trump dismissed Woodward’s 2018 book, Fear: Trump In The White House, as a “joke” and a “scam” and called the author a xxxx in a barrage of tweets.

Last year however, Trump praised Woodward as “cool, calm and interesting” for his comments in a “Face the Nation” appearance, and in 2017, he thanked Woodward for dismissing the unverified Steele dossier as a “garbage document.”

Rage goes on sale next week and many are unhappy with Woodward for waiting until the book’s release to reveal the president’s lies about the virus.

Whoever Trump praises, I automatically question their background, honesty, integrity and agenda.

I checked all the largest viewership main stream internet news sites this morning comparing how many Woodward book and story articles there were ( his book isn't even out ) versus ones on Cohen and his book which came out just two days ago.

AOL: 6 articles on Woodward. None on Cohen.
NBC:  3 on Woodward. Maybe one down deep on Cohen.
MSNBC: 9 or 10 on Woodward. 1 down deep on Cohen.
CBS: 2 on Woodward. None on Cohen?
ABC: 3 to 1 or none.
Politico: 6 on Woodward. Maybe 1 on Cohen.

Didn't write down the exact numbers so that is why I am a little hesitant on one or two Cohen entries, however, my numbers are 90% accurate if not 100%.

In regards to internet political news coverage Woodward and his already generally known Trump Covid-19 deception story and his yet to be released Trump softball criticism book have literally swept Cohen and his hard ball Trump expose book story off the news slate ... practically completely.

Mary Trump got two to three weeks of non-stop front page major news coverage with countless nationally broadcast personal interviews throughout when her book came out.

Her book was very revealing of Trump's awful and selfish personal character failings as it related mostly to his familial and family business situation.

Cohen's book however, takes readers much farther out into the extended business, political and personal corruption life of DT. A much broader and deeper look at Trump in all these areas. Obviously a much more revealing and important Trump corruption truth expose.

Much more revealing and important than Woodward's supposed deep insider one which we are told is significantly based on 18 personal 2 hour meet ups with Trump by Woodward? Maybe 50 hours at most?

Cohen spent "10 years" at Trump's side and sat in on "thousands" of meetings and phone calls during Trump's unguarded hey days of super  edgy corrupt if not criminal shenanigans.

Who has more to tell about Trump in all these areas? Cohen or Woodward?

To see the current news coverage, Woodward's Trump soft ball revelations are everything and Cohen's hard ball two day old ones are already yesterdays news?

It's a statement of main stream media manipulation imo. In protective favor of Donald Trump.

Woodward...he's the man! Michael Cohen...who's he?

Would not be at all surprised Joe. I think Woodward is a Spook.

I see now that Woodward's book "Rage" isn't even out yet. Sales release date is Sept.15th.

Yet, just with this marketing ploy of early reporting of Trump's downplaying of the Covid-19 threat Woodward and this "one" story have knocked Cohen and his Trump book off the front pages and news programs the second day of it's own release date.

If I am the publisher of Cohen's book I am furious.

Not just at Woodward and his publisher, but at all the main stream media giants who are giving Woodward and this not really important or damaging Trump story ( we already knew Trump had done this in a general sense ) way more coverage than it deserves and the timing of it's release.

I of course can't read Woodward's Trump book "Rage", but like everyone this "one" Trump story is all I see on the news. If this is the most damning charge Woodward has on Trump in his book, how weak, how unimportant.

Cohen and his book on the other hand has the real damaging goods on Trump.

CBS's "60 Minutes" is already having Woodward on this Sunday evening!

Gee, that quick? And what timing. What a coincidence. What a story...not.

Woodward and his one Trump story and not even released book on Trump is more "60 Minutes" coverage news worthy than Cohen and his book?

    Ha, no where near.

One overblown press released Trump deception story ( Woodward's book isn't even out yet ) and CBS rushes BW on for a huge viewership 60 Minutes coverage episode?

Michael Cohen's book has 50X the Trump damaging revelations of importance and they can't have him on?

Who wants to read or hear another Trump lying or even just downplaying story? He does this almost daily. It's really not news anymore. It's certainly not the "Block Buster" news Woodward and the networks are building it up to be.

Cohen's book on Trump really is the more Block Buster expose by a factor of 50X.

Twitter has some saying these same suspicion and ethical motive concern things about the timing of Woodward's book publicity release and Woodward's withholding this one main Trump charge until now, when he could have released this information months ago. The timing of it's release now is obvious as a book selling tactic only.

Woodward and most of the mainstream media are doing Trump a huge favor.

They have knocked Cohen and his truly damaging book on Trump right off the front pages with this relatively unimportant Trump deception story imho.

My thoughts completely Joe, I think it has to do with setting. Usually Trump sees his press conferences as a battle, because the reporters asking him questions have a limited amount of time to get what they want answered. It is very competitive, where Woodward can act very civil, and seem to defer to Trump and give him plenty of time, occasionally ask a few leading questions, which will usually result in giving Trump plenty of rope to hang himself.

P.S. Trump just had a press conference to talk about judges he would appoint, and challenged Biden to give a list of judges he'd appoint if he became President.

Why would Biden respond at all? There's never been any precedent for a President to disclose court nominees before he's even elected!

Here's another conspiracy suggestion to throw at you.

Woodward's book comes out the same day or one after Cohen's.

And Woodward's book instantly grabs and pulls the main news media attention spot light off of Cohen and his book.

Woodward's book is really not anywhere as damaging to Trump as Cohen's book is imo.  Yet, Woodward's book "does" hugely damage the media coverage of Cohen's book.

If I am the publisher of Cohen's book, and knew that the publisher of Woodward's book had planned for the same release date, I would have done something to counter this duel competition for sales and media coverage.

Nothing surprises me anymore in Trump world.

Suspicious of this "coincidence" and Woodward himself.

I don't buy the explanations being offered here as to how Woodward could get Trump to sit down one-on-one with him and answer Woodward's questions "18 TIMES" after Woodward trashed Trump in his first book "FEAR."

  13. Connally looks incredibly worried and uncomfortable in the photo above.

And JFK would look ridiculous wearing one of those big Texas style hats.

He had enough sense to never wear crazy hats like this in his pre-campaign visits around the country. Including 6 foot long feathered Indian Chief head dresses, huge Mexican Sombreros, Aviator caps, football or hockey player helmets, baseball caps etc.

I think I've only seen one picture of Kennedy wearing a Sinatra style fedora. He did wear one of those ridiculous Top Hats at his inauguration.

I think Kennedy hated to wear anything that covered his signature full head of Irish brown hair. It was always cited as a lady killer in the virile, more youthful and attractive looks department. Opposite of bald and shiny.

Others emulated the Kennedy hair style look.

Doug, I just watched the White House news briefing with press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

Typical wag-the-dog twisting of every Trump critical question into an opposite reality spin that Trump is simply the greatest, most honest and responsible leadership President ever.

Curious question from one of the press corps regarding Woodward.

The question was how could Bob Woodward get another "18" one on one meetings with Trump after Woodward trashed Trump in his super Trump critical book "FEAR?"

McEnany paused for a second and stared away...then blurted out this preposterous one sentence answer...

"because President Trump is the most transparent President in American History."

    Ha!

But still, the action of letting Bob Woodward into these 18 one-on-one meet ups with Trump by Trump after Woodward's disparaging book on him, does strike my curiosity. Cohen was on Lester Holt, NBC.

His book has dislodged Mary Trump's as Number One at Amazon.

Most weeks, the ratings for cable are Fox, MSNBC and CNN.  Cohen is never going to get on Fox since they are an extension of Trump.  So MSNBC is a good second.

BTW, Brian Stelter's book Hoax is also good. Its about the union of Fox with Trump, how they became virtually one entity.

Lester Holt? Okay, good. Still, it's going to take much more national media exposure than that and for more than just a few days for Cohen's book and revelations to have a meaningful Trump vote impact imo.

I watched some of the Holt interview. It was a much more limited interview than Maddow's.

Was hoping Cohen's book would do well. Replacing Mary Trump's book sales numbers on Amazon is okay, but what have her book sales been since that first week of one million sales? If Cohen's book hit a million I would be very surprised.

    Regards cable political news viewership:

In primetime, Fox News had an 18 percent advantage over CNN with 624,000 in the 25-54 demo vs. 528,000 for CNN. MSNBC trailed in both day parts, averaging 193,000 for the total day and 315,000 in prime.

Will Cohen have some interview coverage via CNN?

  17. Watched the interview of Michael Cohen on MSNBC last night.

Of course some mixed feelings about a few of Cohen's answers but over-all his revelations of Trump misdeeds are so damning, I think even Trump supporting Evangelicals and military enlisted members might finally stop and wonder about blindly supporting and believing their can-do-no-wrong Godfather "if" they could or would allow themselves to hear what Cohen has to say about him.

The disturbing reality is however, that the huge majority of Trump supporters never watch MSNBC, will never buy Cohen's book and unless Cohen is given interview coverage in several larger audience national media venues besides MSNBC, won't even hear what Cohen is revealing about their fearless leader.

MSNBC has a very small viewership audience relatively speaking. FOX NEWS has the largest by far. And FOX will never give Cohen and his expose any coverage except parroting the White House downplaying and disparaging script.

"60 Minutes" did their thing with Clinton, but they refused to touch Bush Jr. and have stopped covering anything Trump threatening as well.

Heck, "60 Minutes Australia" covers more high political American scandals than our New York one.

Cohen gets into the broader more hard edged even criminal activity doings of Trump versus Mary Trump's much more personal family orientated bad character revelations.

Cohen's book reaches much deeper into the dark side of Trump regards his devious doings beyond just his family.

Blindly fawning Trump defending Sarah Sander's book came out the same day as Cohen's.

George Stephanopoulos and his number one viewership Sunday morning political news show " This Week With George S." gave Sanders and her book national marketing exposure yesterday which I find ludicrously suspicious compared to the newsworthiness of Cohen and his book versus Sander's.

Sanders just repeats her Trump fawning and says all these former Trump administration officials who have revealed his lies and misdoings are all just a bunch of "disgruntled former employees" which one assumes she means makes them, their claims and credibility worthless.

Sanders is reported to be eyeing a run for the Arkansas governorship. Only in Arkansas would her election be possible.

Cohen became animated in sharing his first hand knowledge of Trump's true views on abortion. Trump is and always has been "pro-choice."

And Cohen bolsters this claim with the fact of his being closer to Trump than his family for over 10 years and knowing him and his personal views better than anyone. Cohen says some days he would speak with Trump up to 50 times a day.

What Cohen is telling the tens of millions of religious group Trump supporters is to "wake up" to Trumps true stand on abortion ( not his phony lying one ) which most of these followers blindly refuse to believe and is the main justification most of them express in explaining their support of Trump.

Trump is the least Christian principled president since LBJ and Nixon, yet these Christian value honoring, respecting and teaching religious groups refuse to face this reality or if they do acknowledge it, they simply excuse his anti-Christian behavior with a perverse " he's flawed but we forgive him " pass in defending their blind support of such a morally corrupt person, imo.

The grandmother is said to be convinced her phones are still tapped by the Secret Service and lives in fear of being targeted and killed by spooks herself.

I think there are things which she could say which would cause people to forever look at this case differently, and I think the same thing can be said about Buell Frazier.

What I would like to know is where she was taught to speak English, and who taught her. I'm also interested in knowing how she came to meet Mr. Porter and what he did for a living when they met.

Marina is Movie Star stunning in the picture above - seriously.

Those eyes!  Big, beautiful, blue and sexy.

On the other hand I don't see Porter as handsome.

And in this picture he seems dour. Thought Marina had enough of dour with Lee Oswald.

Quite a mis-match if you ask me.

Doug Caddy has spoken to Marina. I think she may have revealed something to him personally that she hasn't to others.

Marina was so manipulated up to and beyond the Warren Commission hearings.

Just in that first televised interview ( when she was what...just 22 years old?), she gave an answer to the question of whether she thought Lee was guilty of shooting the president by replying with this ...

"I no want to believe Lee was guilty, but I have too many facts...and facts tell me Lee did shoot the president."

    Oh please!

That is one of the most contrived and obviously scripted lines that stood out like a huge herpes lip sore as not being something from Marina's own mind and mouth, imo.

    Excellent point WN.

Their fun get together with no social distancing and mostly without masks cost the rest of us a massive amount.

This economic cost reality should be brought out more in the overall debate.

I've seen photographs of them from around '68 and the guy looks like a handsome person. However my understanding is that this man worked for a CIA contractor. Collins Radio, same place as Carl Mather.

Now that's not terribly impossible but at this point when do the "happenstances" end?

If Aynesworth said that I wouldn't at all be surprised, the slimebucket that he is.

These days Marina looks like a man wearing a wig:

Marina Oswald Porter -Bio, Everything About Lee Harvey Oswald's Wife

Stunning youthful and middle age female beauty is a cruel gift upon it's departing.

Have you seen current pictures of Brigitte Bardot, Ursulla Andrus, Goldie Hawn, Kathleen Turner and countless others?

Still, it's a beautiful sight to behold in it's full bloom as it was for Marina Oswald in her day.

Did Marina ever discuss in any interview or book, what it was about Porter that made her choose him in the ultimate intimacy union over anyone else?

  22. I have never researched Marina's husband Porter outside of general reading about them both.

From that I am wondering what the attraction was on Marina's part?

Did Porter sweep Marina off her feet? If so, how?

Was he more a father figure which Marina never had outside of her uncle?

Marina was still a very beautiful ( and even sexy ) young woman with mesmerizing blue eyes when she met and married him.

I assumed Marina was pursued by countless men after she got through the worst trauma time after 11,22,1963.

Just from that first nationally broadcast interview of Marina ( "Marina, what do you do all day?") I was smitten with her myself like millions of other men I am sure.

Marina could have had her pick of so many men, good looking, wealthy, exciting lives.

Again, knowing so little about Porter I am just guessing but he seemed like kind of a dud socially and I didn't see the physical attraction chemistry which I always assumed was a big deal with Marina.

From the WC testimony of Jeane De Mohrenschildts Marina frequently complained to her that Oswald didn't meet her sexual needs. Maybe Porter was quite the stud in this department?

Just an aside, didn't everywhere news coverage Dallas super reporter Hugh Aynesworth claim he once bedded Marina himself?

Marina was always an enigma. A very attractive and intriguing one.

If she had looked like the typical Cold War propaganda Russian plow pushing woman with thick arms and ankles and weathered face there wouldn't have been the massive interest in her that there always has been.
