Who Organized the Killing of JFK?

I thought I would attempt to provide a brief summary of the Kennedy Assassination. This is very much my interpretation of what took place. Please fell free to criticise this account or to add your own interpretation of what happened.

On 16th October, 1962, Congress passed the Kennedy Act. This removed the distinction between repatriated profits and profits reinvested abroad. While this law applied to industry as a whole, it especially affected the oil companies. It was estimated that as a result of this legislation, wealthy oilmen saw a fall in their earnings on foreign investment from 30 per cent to 15 per cent.

In a speech made on 17th January, 1963, Kennedy suggests that he intended to bring an end to the depletion allowance. He pointed out: "no one industry should be permitted to obtain an undue tax advantage over all others." It was estimated that oilmen might lose around $300 million a year if the oil depletion allowance is removed.

During the summer of 1963 Kennedy began secret negotiations to bring an end to the Cold War. This posed a threat to the huge profits being made by the Military Industrial Congressional Complex. Powerful figures in the MICC approached David Atlee Phillips about arranging the assassination of JFK. He is also instructed to make it look like the assassination has been carried out by supporters of Castro. Phillips is also told to tell the people he recruits that the operation is being paid for by organized crime figures with links to the anti-Castro movement. It is claimed that this is being done to stimulate an invasion of Cuba and the overthrow of Fidel Castro.

Phillips discusses the operation with David Morales. The two men recruit Rip Robertson to organize the assassination. He is not told who is paying for the assassination. He is instructed that he must make sure the assassination looks like a pro-Castro operation. Robertson decides to use members of Interpen (a group he had worked with before in Cuban operations). This has the advantage of using men who in the past, had helped Fidel Castro to gain power in Cuba. Therefore, if caught, it could still be made to look like a pro-Castro operation. Those recruited include Roy Hargraves, Steve Wilson, Dick Whatley, James Arthur Lewis and Ed Collins. Robertson also recruits several Cubans including Herminio Diaz Garcia, Tony Cuesta, Virgilio Gonzalez, Eugenio Martinez, Felipe Vidal Santiago, Eladio del Valle and Roland Masferrer.

John Martino is also brought in to carry out a courier role. He knows very little about the details of the assassination. However, his involvement helps to link in organized crime. This is important as if the original plot (pro-Castro conspiracy) falls down, it can be blamed on leaders of the criminal underworld.

Johnny Roselli is also drawn into the network. However, he is not aware of what is going on. This is done for two reasons. Roselli helps to implicate organized crime in the assassination. Roselli’s presence also implicates senior figures in the CIA. This guarantees that the CIA will go along with any cover up if things go wrong.

Morales and Phillips know that Hoover and the FBI will investigate the crime. It is therefore necessary to provide evidence that supports Hoover’s view of the world. They know he will be anxious to believe that members of left-wing organizations were involved in the assassination. Therefore, those set-up for the crime should be members of “subversive” groups such as the Fair Play for Cuba Committee, American Civil Liberties Union and the Socialist Workers Party. Phillips uses his knowledge of CIA operations to identify two men who could be manipulated into being at the place where Kennedy is assassinated. Oswald is one of these men. I have been unable to identify the other man. However, he would have a similar profile to Oswald.

It is also decided to link in Johnson to this plot. This will guarantee he will agree to cover up any flaws in the conspiracy. They therefore arrange for Don Reynolds (an old friend from Morales’ time in Germany) to make accusations against Johnson. They know Johnson will be able to use his control of Congress to keep this quiet until the assassination. Reynolds will be willing to withdraw his claims after the assassination in return for Johnson doing as he is told.

It is arranged for Oswald and this other man to be killed soon after the assassination. Tippit was one of those arranged to carry out this role. However, Oswald knows enough about how the CIA works and fires first, killing Tippit. The other man has also taken precautions and manages to get away from the scene of the crime.

Within hours of the assassination, Hoover and his men have found the planted evidence and it is concluded that Kennedy has been killed as part of a pro-Castro conspiracy. Hoover tells Johnson the news. However, there are problems. Hoover has found evidence that links Johnson to the crime. Probably, Mac Wallace’s fingerprints in the Texas School Book Depository. This has been arranged by Morales in order to make sure Johnson agrees to cover up any flaws in the conspiracy.

Johnson, however, does not respond in the expected way. He knows that once it is revealed that Kennedy had been assassinated as a result of a communist conspiracy, a full investigation will be demanded by the public. For example, questions will be asked how deep did this communist conspiracy go? It will be back to the 1950s. McCarthyism will be resurrected. Johnson would be unable control such an investigation. He would be particularly concerned about journalists searching for evidence of a conspiracy. It would only a matter of time before evidence is found of what Johnson and his cronies have been up to.

The safest route for Johnson to take is to claim that Oswald was acting as a lone gunman. This probably upsets Hoover at first. However, he eventually accepts Johnson’s arguments that this is the best strategy. As Johnson would have pointed out, if the public is told this was a communist conspiracy involving people like Oswald, questions will be asked about the FBI’s inability to prevent the assassination taking place. The same goes for the CIA. It will be especially embarrassing when it is discovered that Oswald had been an agent for both organizations.

Johnson decides to justify this decision by the claim that if the public discover that Kennedy had been killed as a result of pro-Castro conspiracy, he will be forced to order an invasion of Cuba. This he argues, will result in a nuclear war. Therefore, he organizes a cover-up to save the world from a nuclear disaster.

Hoover helps Johnson to come up with a scheme that will ensure that the investigation takes place in secret. For it to work, all the members of the commission will have to be under Johnson/Hoover’s control. This is not very difficult and the Warren Commission comes up with the report that is required. However, they have great difficulty explaining how one man was able to kill Kennedy. They also have problems explaining Jack Ruby’s role in these events.

Hoover and Johnson did not find it too difficult to stop the mainstream media to fully investigate the assassination. The few journalists who refused to believe the preposterous Warren Report were dealt with in a variety of ways. See the thread on how the CIA deals with investigators:

http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=2563

However, Johnson’s decision creates problems for Morales. While it is true that some people involved in the assassination did it for the money. Others were motivated by political considerations. Some of those recruited into the plot had joined based on the idea that it would lead to the overthrow of Castro. These are very unhappy people. They feel they have been betrayed. They are also questioning the fact that the operation was funded by organized crime. They clearly have not benefited by the events that flowed from the assassination. Some will no doubt suspect that the money came from another source. A source that did benefit from the assassination.

Bernardo De Torres is drafted in to make sure that these people do not talk. The CIA help in removing some of these people by sending them on missions to Cuba. This backfires as Tony Cuesta is captured alive and realizing he has been betrayed, tells the Cuban Intelligence Service what has happened. This information now becomes an insurance policy against Cuba ever being invaded by the United States.

The lone gunman theory works until 1966. This is when Jim Garrison begins his investigation into New Orleans and the Kennedy assassination. Garrison becomes interested in three people: Guy Banister, David Ferrie and Clay Shaw. These men may, or maybe not, have been involved in the assassination. The problem for Morales and Phillips is that all three men have been associated with the CIA and anti-Castro Cubans. Any public trial might well expose important facts about the case.

Plan B is now put into operation. It is decided to abandon the lone gunman theory. Garrison will now be allowed to uncover a conspiracy. Not the correct one, but the one established by Morales and Phillips as a cover in 1963. Dick Billings and Bernardo De Torres are sent to “help” Garrison. The main purpose is to direct him towards a conspiracy organized and carried out by organized crime. Garrison refuses to buy this story. By this time he has worked out the outline of the crime. Garrison later wrote: “John Kennedy was eliminated by forces desiring the continuation of the Cold War – an artificial conflict draining the assets of and greatly changing, for the worst, the character of our nation. The clandestine arm for those Cold War forces was the Central Intelligence Agency”.

Garrison was clearly a dangerous man. As he refused to blame organized crime for the assassination, the public had to be convinced that there was a reason for this behaviour. Billings now abandons Garrison and begins writing stories suggesting that the New Orleans District Attorney is under the control of underground crime bosses. Other CIA asset journalists join in the campaign. This works. Even most of the Warren Report critics now become suspicious of Garrison.

Guy Banister and David Ferrie both die (or are murdered) before Garrison can bring them to trial. He decides to continue with his case against Shaw. He knows he cannot get a conviction. However, what he can do is to convince the jury (and the general public) that Kennedy was killed as a result of a conspiracy. This he does. From now on, the vast majority of people do not believe that Kennedy was killed by a lone gunman.

After the Garrison investigation the main strategy of Morales and Phillips was not to encourage people to believe the Warren Report. That would have been an impossible task. The new strategy was to convince the public that Kennedy was a victim of organized crime. This was both an easy and safe target. It does not matter how much they protest, no one will believe them.

Media assets such as Jack Anderson and Dick Billings are once again brought into play. In 1966 Anderson begins writing stories suggesting that Johnny Roselli is in someway linked with the assassination. Others like Carlos Marcello, Santo Trafficante and Sam Giancana are accused of being in the plot. There is of course one problem with this strategy, this policy will implicate certain members of the CIA such as William Harvey. However, Morales and Phillips are not too worried about that as long as it does not draw attention towards them.

It is of course not only the general public that have been directed towards organized crime. The vast majority of journalists and authors working on the case buy this story. For the next ten years researchers concentrate their efforts on finding evidence that the mob killed Kennedy.

This is reinforced by members of the criminal world coming forward to sell their story. Sometimes they have overheard crime bosses discussing the assassination of Kennedy. On other occasions, imprisoned for life without any chance of parole, some confess to having taken part in the crime.

In 1976, a newspaper poll suggested that 87% of the American population did not believe that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman who killed Kennedy. Instead, they now believe it was the “mob who did it”. This is made official by the

House Select Committee on Assassinations. To ensure this is the case, George Robert Blakey is appointed chief counsel. Dick Billings is brought in to help Blakey write up the report. In case the public does not quite get the message, the two men co-write The Plot to Kill the President (1981). In the book they argue that there was a conspiracy to kill Kennedy. This involves Oswald but was paid for by leading figures in the organized crime community.

This theory becomes the new dominant ideology. It is only shaken by Oliver Stone’s film JFK. Stone focuses on the investigation of Jim Garrison. In doing so, he once again raises the issue that the assassination of Kennedy had nothing to do with organized crime. Stone makes it clear where he stands by starting the film with Dwight Eisenhower’s speech warning of the dangers of the Military Industrial Complex. However, the impact is not lasting, people gradually drift back to the idea that Kennedy was killed by the mob. In doing so, they can sleep peacefully in their beds. Those in power may not tell the full truth, but they don’t kill presidents.

It is now over 40 years since the assassination of Kennedy. There are few people left alive who were involved in the assassination. Even these people are unlikely to know who really paid for the assassination to be carried out (they only know what Morales and Robertson told them). Those that do know the full story, David Morales, David Atlee Phillips, Lyndon Johnson, George Brown, Clint Murchison, J. Edgar Hoover, John McCone, etc. are dead. I suspect Bobby Baker is the only one left alive who has any real idea of the overall plan. And he is not talking. In other words, we will never know.

What I have written is based partly on factual material. However, much is speculation based on my understanding of how the secret services operate. It is therefore largely a product of my imagination. A work of fiction. But that does not mean it is not true. Who is to say that my imagination does not work in the same way as the person who organized the assassination (and its cover up) of John F. Kennedy.

John, great summary, I think we needed that, well I did anyhow. I would throw Howard Hunt into the equation. I shall try to find a list of companys involved with oil production, weapons production and steel manufacturing and cross reference the names of major shareholders, this could give us a few names to work with. I assume that under what you said about discontinuing the cold war you included Vietnam. Very good summary.

..................

John...a very imaginative scenario... but I agree with only one portion.... the naming of David Atlee Phillips as a key figure.

All the others you name were mostly foot soldiers. The plot was of a much loftier level. Try Dulles, Johnson, Hoover, Nixon, Bush and their BACKERS.

You have just repeated the old limited hangouts which deflect attention from the CIA and people in high places. Cubans and Mafia? Rogue intelligence agents? No. It was the BIG BOYS.

------------------------------

Start googling for Humble Oil, Hunt and Schlumberger.

Do some cross references with Prescott Bush, George Demohrenschildt., Permindex and Freeport Sulphur. Happy hunting.

I am not sure you read the complete posting. One of the main points I made is that the Mafia had nothing to do with the assassination. Morales and Robertson were both CIA.

I think we have to distinguish between the assassination and the cover-up. The “big boys” were clearly involved in the cover-up (Dulles, Johnson and Hoover). I am not convinced that Nixon and Bush had anything to do with it. Although they would have both had a very good idea of what happened. I suspect the same forces were also behind Watergate (worried about his negotiations with China).

Here is a link I found about Halliburton and Permidex with a list of a few names who may have financed the assassination.

http://www.apfn.net/messageboard/09-27-04/...ion.cgi.25.html

These people at least had something to gain. Permidex was proven to have had CIA connections, they would have had the contacts and the money to carry this out.

Does anybody know any businesses that Allen Dulles may have been involved in?

John,

When are you going to see there is no straight line between the mafia and the "big boys".

Here's a few hints: Marcello financed LBJ.

Frank Costello was buddies with J Edgar Hoover, Clint Murchison and a slew of politicians. That why they called him "The politician"

Even good old Ike met with Murray Humphreys.

Luciano got out of jail for a campaign contribution to his nemesis Tom Dewey.

Giancana rigged the Illinois election for JFK (or better said his dad)

Trafficante, Giancana and Roselli plotted against Castro with the CIA and who knows what more (f.e. Guatemala)

Bugsy Siegel was buddies with George Raft.

Sinatra (and some of the rest of the rat pack) was buddies with Giancana, Roselli, Luciano, Costello and many more mob guys.

Even Jim Garrison was on good terms with Marcello. He called Marcello "a businessman" and refused to look into him.

And Luis Posada Carrilles? What is he? Mob, CIA, Terrorrist? or all three?

Moses Annenberg, have you heard of him? His son is a member of the George Bush foundation.

I can go on and on

You should read more mafia books.

Read Don Roberdeau's post too:

As touchy of a subject as it is, the group MJ-12 is often overlooked in the discussion of who organized the killing of JFK.

To find numerous references the individual researcher will have to sort through, search with the key words “MJ-12 Bush JFK oil UFO”

"Those conspiracies that are too incredible to be believed, are by the same right those which most often succeed."

http://www.ufoarea.com/government_dulce_branton_ch1.html

It is interesting to note that James Files mentions Gordon Gray in the unedited version of the November 2003 interview. You’re getting there Wim! :D

http://think-aboutit.com/Omega/files/omega3.htm

630000 - Kennedy issues ultimatum to MJ-12 member Gordon Gray, says he's going to spill the beans on the whole mess [CIA disk projects, international drug trafficking, mind control, collusion with Grey aliens, etc.] and inform the public. Kennedy, having had to learn these facts from the RUSSIANS, discovers that the scenario is true and threatens to 'dismember' the CIA if they don't come clean and surrender to Congressional supervision.

631122 - President Kennedy murdered in a fascist coup d'etat attempt carried out by CIA agents, Mafia hit men, and the overseers of MJ-12 [MAJI -- or the BLACK MONKS]; their man Lyndon Johnson becomes President.

First, a general comment.

I think the assassination could have been organized by anti-Castro Cubans either to avenge what they saw as Kennedy's "betrayal" of them at the Bay of Pigs, or to frame Castro for the murder and prompt an invasion of Cuba, or both. If LHO was indeed a pro-Castroite (who really knows what he was?) it is even possible that he was manipulated into participating by believing the act was in fact done for Fidel. (Two legal counsel for the WC suggested this scenario and urged investigation of anti-Castro Cubans; the WC declined the suggestion.) The anti-Castro Cubans had a strong motive: they felt the freedom of their country was at stake. Americans associated with them (if this scenario is correct) could very have thought the survival of the US was dependent on the removal of Castro.

These motives were probably strong enough to even justify a murder, and for those involved to risk their own lives.

For logical reasons (as well as any evidence) I reject the theory that members of the MICC planned the assassination.

John admits much of his scenario is speculation and he offers no clue as to what members of the MICC were involved. The motive for the MICC to kill Kennedy was purely economic. John suggests some rich old bastards were greedy enough not only to overlook whatever religious or moral scruples they might have for murder, but also to risk the death penalty. I strongly suggest this scenario makes little sense. Historically, assassinations are either motivated by political considerations or the acts of "lone nuts" (yes, I believe there have been some "lone nut" assassinations). Granted, some murders are motivated by hope of economic gain but in most cases I believe such murders are perpetrated by people who are not already filthy rich.

Moreover, let us assume the MICC conspirators were friends of LBJ (e.g., George Root and Murchison). I suggest if they were smart enough to plan the assassination, they realized they could accomplish their purpose of replacing JFK with LBJ simply by waiting until after the election and then using the undisclosed sexual scandals to remove him from office. Beside avoiding the risk of the death penalty, this method would remove Kennedy in a scandal while they surely must have known his murder would make him a martyr.

So, in summary, I think the involvement of anti-Castro Cubans and rogue elements of the CIA is possible but I highly doubt some rich old bastards killed JFK to put a few more bucks in their pocket at the risk of capital prosecution.

Now, I want to say that I want to use several posts to discuss specific suggestions John has made. Here I will comment on the suggestion that the Malcolm Wallace fingerprint was planted to ensure LBJ's cover-up of the assassination.

First, the use of the Malcolm Wallace fingerprint to frame LBJ to ensure his participation in the cover-up. If LBJ's good friend Hoover discovered a Wallace fingerprint early on (in time to motivate the cover-up) and (as John's scenario suggests) he knew Johnson was being framed, why did he just not get rid of the evidence? Why would it be left in the TSBD to be discovered later?

Obviously any explanation of the assassination needs to account for the Wallace fingerprint. Presumably, there are only four possibilities: 1) interpration error, not really his fingerprint; 2) planted, for whatever reason, but much closer to the date of the discovery of the print; 3) although it has not yet been discovered, Wallace had a part-time job in the TSBD; or 4)Wallace did in fact participate in the assassination (with or without LBJ's knowledge).

Those are my initial comments. I will have more later. As stated earlier, I do not necessarily reject parts of the scenario.

This post will comment on the possible participation of CIA employees David Atlee Phillips and David Morales in the assassination.

Almost every assassination researcher believes that David Atlee Phillips was the mysterious Mr. Bishop and that Veciana observed Phillips meeting with Oswald in Dallas shortly before the assassination.

I think we may have had this discussion before but it is probably posting in this thread: if Phillips was really involved in the plot, the last thing he would want would be to be observed with the patsy shortly before the assassination. Therefore, if indeed Veciana saw Phillips with Oswald, it is highly illogical to postulate that Phillips was a conspirator. Moreover, there is no evidence that he was.

The case of Morales is different. As I am sure every Forum member knows, Morales made an admission of sorts in front of his attorney and a friend that he was involved in the assassination. The question may be whether Morales was smart enough to plan it. This issue may be why John suggests the involvement of Phillips. But if Phillips was smart enough to plan it, he was surely smart enough to stay the heck away from Oswald.

This Post will discuss whether the set-up of LHO as a patsy negates CIA involvement in the assassination.

Many people believe that LHO was an agent of U.S. intelligence (whether CIA or military intelligence is probably not relevant). If he was, this fact IMO tends to exclude CIA involvement in the assassination, since the CIA (or rogue elements thereof) would be foolhardy to use a man with Agency connections as the patsy. One possibility, of course, is that a CIA agent who set up LHO was not aware of his connections to the CIA.

Just a question: if there was no involvement of organized crime, how did Ruby get involved?
