The Cuban Missile Crisis: Even more fraught than you thought. Not yet four at the time, I was oblivious. I remember that, years later, my mom alluded to what it was like. She said it seemed to her and those she knew that WWIII was right around the corner. Bend down, put your head between your legs, and kiss your ass goodbye.

Too right George!  Although I was a kid in Junior school, I was fully aware of what was going on.  Scary stuff.  For the past sixty years I've held the belief that JFK saved my life.

As a coincidence, this last weekend I picked up a copy of RFK's 'Thirteen Days'.  Even though I read this book years ago it seemed right to re-read, & at just £1 a no brainer.
