You are certainly correct. But I just don't think there's any way Trump will be locked up in the next 11 1/2 months, as we wait for the political campaign and the election to run their course. However, after the 11/5/24 election Donald Trump will most certainly be icing his heels in jail. He will not be allowed to roam free while he waits for his J6 appeal process to occur, and the bail in his other felony cases will be revoked, as the only reason he's still being allowed bail right now is because of his presidential run. So we can all look forward to that.

Kirk Gallaway
I have an interesting story about the Filoli Estate where Biden met Xi. It is probably one of the hugest estates in the one of the most expensive zip codes in the U.S. There is not another house within a mile of it! When I was in my 20's I use to trespass on government property a lot, mostly to see beautiful areas. I once trespassed on the Filoli Estate that I accessed through a prohibited watershed area (Crystal Springs Reservoir) that nonetheless had equestrian trails for the wealthy Woodside people. I was expecting to hide from a staff of people but I never saw anybody and walked through the gardens! Though it's not as incredible and opulent as the Hearst Mansion in San Simeon. It's pretty remarkable and I've been on a number of tourist tours of rich estates in several countries. It was used in Warren Beatty's movie "Heaven Can Wait" in the 70's. As a number of such places, I think it was given by its heirs to the State of California because the estate taxes had become too high. If there is a rural estate rich town associated with Silicon Valley wealth, it is Woodside. https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/photos-a-look-inside-filoli-the-site-for-xi-biden-meeting/3371473/
Steve Thomas
We have zombie Republican presidential candidates, enabled by an undead media By Sidney Blumenthal https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/nov/15/republicans-trump-zombie-candidates-sidney-blumenthal "... the whole Trump storyline the base has embraced is false. From his branding in The Apprentice as a master of the universe to the big lie, the greatest con in American history would collapse. Rejecting the fable would demand of his followers that they recognize their own fallibility and gullibility. But they mirror their hero in associating self-reflection as a trait of their cultural elite enemies. To shake their spell, they would have to undergo a reversal of the plot of the early film classic of humans turned into zombies, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. But the Republican party would be the last place to conduct intensive deprogramming of Republicans. Instead, its enchanted base is doubling down in intensity. When the first indictment against Trump came down in New York in the campaign fraud case of paying hush money to a porn star, Trump’s believers rallied to him as savior and martyr, his polls shot up and the electability ploy dissolved into thin air. His Republican opponents were left with their hands raised in a salute to whoever the nominee would be, which would be Trump. They were the living dead." Rather than accepting the fact that they could be so stupid, Trump's followers will double down and elevate him to the status of sainthood. W. Niederhut
This is a serious problem in the U.S. and Europe right now-- silencing peace protesters and critics of Netanyahu's war crimes in Gaza.* Imagine if this had happened to critics of Milosevic and Karadzic after the Srebrenica Massacre. Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs has called for the UN, U.S., and NATO to impose peace in Palestine, and set limits on the extremists on both sides who have persistently sabotaged a just, two-state solution. Instead, Biden has responded to Netanyahu's war crimes by shipping more bombs to Bibi. My question. If we intervened against Milosevic to prevent tribal genocide in Bosnia and Kosovo, why can't we intervene against Netanyahu to prevent tribal genocide in Palestine? What's the difference? In both cases, a government was supporting military attacks on Muslim civilians. This is a variation on my criticism of Biden and Blinken for vetoing the UN resolution for a Gaza cease-fire. * 'Price of Defending Apartheid': AIPAC Set to Spend $100 Million Against Squad (commondreams.org)

Really this stupid and easily propagandized. Matt, What a disingenuous post by Luis Zanger. He's using a video of moral outrage about Netanyahu's war crimes in Gaza to ridicule a distraught peace protester. It's like a glib Spiro Agnew comment after the Kent State Massacre. Also, do you and Zanger consider moral indignation about Netanyahu's war crimes in Gaza, "anti-Semitic?" That's the bogus, oft-repeated Fox News trope-of-the-month-- where Gaza peace protesters are also referred to as, "Hamas supporters." Geez... Who is condoning Hamas violence or condemning Jewish people? In contrast, many Netanyahu/Likud Party critics, including Bernie Sanders, Medea Benjamin, Norman Soloman, et.al., are Jewish. The truth is that Netanyahu has been openly engaged in ethnic cleansing-- indiscriminately bombing residential neighborhoods, schools, and hospitals in Gaza, while massacring Palestinian women and children. These are obvious war crimes. Let's not join Rupert Murdoch and Bill Maher in denying war crimes here at the Education Forum. This forum is a rare place in our society where people endeavor to tell the truth. Edited November 16, 2023 by W. Niederhut
