  1. Hi Joseph, I'm by no means an expert in this area of transferring media to digital formats, but I've learned a few things in just the last couple of years that have enabled me to put a whole bunch of videos on the Internet (and my computer hard drive) that were previously stuck on VHS tapes. I purchased a regular Panasonic "Combo" machine with VHS-to-DVD recording capability to transfer my VHS tapes to DVD (as long as the VHS isn't copy-protected you can achieve this). HERE is the unit I bought. And I'm still using it today. It has worked very well for me. But it's not in stock anymore. HERE is a Panasonic VHS/DVD model for sale now at Amazon.com. Some people don't like Panasonic. But I've had very few problems with their products. I always go with Panasonic if possible. Also: Joseph, if you want a machine to merely transfer stuff from VHS to DVD, then you don't need the built-in TV tuner that a lot (or most?) of DVD recorders contain. My machine is tunerless, which is fine by me, because I don't use the unit to record anything off the airwaves anyway. Maybe your needs are similar. Blank DVD-R (recordable) discs are very cheap these days. I buy them on the 100-disc spools, like this TDK 100-pack. Those TDKs are excellent discs. I've never had a bad one yet. After transferring the video material onto DVD-R media, you then need to take the video off of the disc and put it on your computer hard drive (if you want to put it on the Internet, like at YouTube for example). The "VOB" files on the DVD-R can easily be imported and manipulated a number of ways via a video editor, such as this one made by Corel (it's the one I use; I like it best, because I think there are fewer glitches and "hiccups" with the Corel Video Studio, as opposed to the other one I have used--Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0, which has a problem with audio syncing--at least the Adobe version I was using two years ago had that problem, which means a whole lot of extra work to match the audio with the video once again, which sucks big-time). The Corel Video Studio can do just about everything to the imported digital files -- like edit and trim the files, add effects, and change it into various digital formats (like WMV, FLV, MPEG, etc.). But I only use Corel for actually moving my video files from DVD-R to a computer-friendly format (I always use WMV -- Windows Media Video). I would probably recommend using the Corel Studio to edit and trim your video files too. Corel and video software similar to it are very likely a lot more sophisticated (with more bells and whistles) than the editor I use to actually trim and edit my video files. But I am happy with the job that Windows Movie Maker has done for my files. It's got everything I need to add titles and certain special effects, etc. But Corel is undoubtedly a "higher end" video editor. Windows Movie Maker is the video editor that comes with everyone's Windows platform software. So it's already on your computer if you use Windows. As for transferring audio tapes to digital formats like MP3, WMA, and WAV -- I've looked into that a little bit (but not much) in the last few years. The Windows platform does have a tool for performing that function, but it requires additional software to be installed on your computer, which I just have never done (as yet). I have a bunch of old baseball radio broadcasts from the 1970s on audiotape that I've been wanting to transfer into a digital format, but I have not got around to installing the proper equipment to do it. You can also outsource your old audio cassettes to people around the USA who will perform such digital transferring for you. You mail them the tapes, they'll transfer them to MP3, and then mail them back. HERE is a link to one such company which performs such a service. For more info on transferring audio to MP3, here are a bunch of webpages resulting from a basic Google search.
  2. David "Gird Them Loins" Healy....I love ya, man. Who wouldn't love a guy who keeps calling you "Studley" and "hon"? (The "hon" thing gets a little creepy after the hundredth time, but you get used to Healy's oddball behavior after a while.) Healy and Dean-o must be soulmates: "You got the right ta-ta, but the wrong ho-ho." To get it back on the "Posner" track: http://Case--Closed.blogspot.com
  3. Reminds me of Mark Lane, who joined this forum on March 30, 2010, and made the following statement in his one and only post (to date) on March 31st, 2010, but has not followed up with so much as a single message since posting this: "I will, of course, respond on this forum to questions or observations about Rush To Judgment, Plausible Denial and the fiction work of Vincent Bugliosi who apparently still believes that the world is flat." -- Mark Lane; 03/31/10
  4. You, Jim, act as if Dr. Perry MEASURED the throat wound. His "measurement" was nothing but a guess, Jimbo. Nobody measured the size of that bullet hole and you know it. A "fragment" caused the throat wound? You're reaching here. Of course, you HAVE to "reach", because you refuse to accept the obvious--one bullet passed through JFK without striking bone. And, no, the bullet did not have to strike a vertebrae. Mantik & Co. are obviously incorrect when they say it HAD to strike a bone. BTW, Jim, how did the upper lung and pleura get bruised if a bullet and/or a "fragment" entered JFK and just STOPPED inside him? What caused those bruises if not the passage of a high-speed bullet? And Boswell's explanation about the muscles "closing" up and not permitting any probes to go through makes perfect sense to me. Why doesn't that make sense to you, James? BTW 2 -- Why didn't the autopsy doctors find any bullets in JFK's body? Or did they lie about that too? All three of them? (And I know darn well you don't agree with Doug Horne or David Lifton on this point. So--who stole the bullets out of JFK's body?)
  5. DiEugenio's last effort is more of the same typical anti-SBT nonsense from a typical anti-SBTer. Jim offers up no logical or coherent alternative to the SBT. And that's because he can't. He knows the SBT is true. And he knows it's silly to believe that TWO bullets went into Kennedy's body with neither bullet exiting from the other side--and then have both bullets disappear. Watching a CTer make excuses for why the SBT is wrong is more fun than watching DiEugenio try to defend the Jolly Green Fraud named Jim Garrison. But since Jimbo wrote a book about the other Jimbo's pathetic and fraudulent case against Clay Shaw, there's absolutely NO amount of smoke that he won't blow in our faces when it comes to DiEugenio trying to prop up that Garrison mess in New Orleans. Jim D. probably even believes that Perry Russo was telling the truth.
  6. There is plenty of evidence that indicates the throat wound was an exit for the upper-back entry wound, with probably THE BIGGEST piece of common-sense "evidence" for this being the fact that NO BULLETS at all were found in JFK's whole body. Plus, there's the lack of any substantial damage to Kennedy's upper-back and neck (except for some bruising of the top of the right lung and the pleural cavity). There's also the OUTWARD-pointing fibers on the front side of JFK's shirt. And the previously-mentioned bruising of the lung and pleura certainly indicate that the bullet which caused such bruising was passing very swiftly by the lung and pleura. In other words, if a bullet had completely STOPPED inside JFK's neck, it's very likely that the bruises that were found inside JFK's back and neck at his Bethesda autopsy would not have been there at all. Hence, that bullet was travelling at a fairly high rate of speed as it passed (but did not directly strike) the top of the lung and upper pleural cavity. And, to emphasize the obvious once again -- If one bullet did not pass clean through President Kennedy's body, it means that TWO bullets must have entered from opposite directions -- with one of those missiles going into his throat from the front (and fired from where exactly, btw? The conspiracy theorists don't usually say); while a second bullet entered the President's upper back. And NEITHER of these two bullets exited JFK's body! Why on Earth didn't EITHER of these two bullets exit the other side of JFK's body? Do conspiracists think the two bullets COLLIDED head-on inside Kennedy's neck or something? (I'm surprised that some CTer hasn't purported such an insane theory. But, to date, I don't think I've heard that one theorized.) It's simply not reasonable to think that TWO bullets would have entered Kennedy's neck and back and then have both bullets stopping dead in their tracks inside JFK's body. And then the bullets (which should have been INSIDE Kennedy at the autopsy) just disappear. Silly beyond all belief. But what's not silly when all the evidence connected to JFK's wounds is taken into consideration is the Single-Bullet Theory -- especially when the perfectly logical and reasonable SBT is compared to the absurd "Two Bullets" scenario I just laid out above. In the final analysis, the only people who have a "Magic Bullet" in the JFK murder case are the conspiracy believers. In fact, they don't have just one Magic Missile -- they've got at least TWO. Those two being the two bullets that "magically" went into Kennedy but didn't exit, and then vanished. I guess the shooters were firing spitwads at Kennedy through a plastic drinking straw, which is why their hopelessly weak TWO bullets didn't go into JFK's body more than a few inches on either side. This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes about this topic, which was uttered by a fellow LNer named "Bud" in 2006. When discussing the SBT and the possible anti-SBT alternatives with some of the assorted conspiracy nuts at the alt.conspiracy.jfk newsgroup, Bud said this: "The assassins choose bullets that inflict non-lethal, 1-inch-deep wounds? Instead of feeding JFK to lions, they decided to nibble him to death by ducks?" -- Bud; April 1, 2006 And most conspiracy theorists (such as Jim DiEugenio and many others) actually have a THIRD "magic" bullet -- the one they say went into Governor John Connally that was NOT Commission Exhibit No. 399 (or so the conspiracy believers say). So there's yet another bullet that vanishes off the planet after entering the body of a Dealey Plaza victim. The anti-SBT crowd is hopeless. They refuse to see the truth and rationality of the Single-Bullet Theory....even after seeing the two victims reacting to that bullet hitting them at the exact same time in the Zapruder Film.
  7. Oh, come on, Robert. You think the very fast snap forward of JFK's HEAD is caused by him being hit in the UPPER BACK? And his HEAD just happens to explode at that EXACT moment too--even though it's really an UPPER-BACK bullet that's causing the forward head movement? That's certainly a new theory I had never heard before. But, then too, conspiracists will go to any lengths to avoid the obvious (and the evidence). And Robert Morrow just proved it.
  8. In the mid-1970s, Itek Corp. measured the forward movement of JFK's head. There is no question his head moves forward with great speed between Z312 and Z313, which is the exact MOMENT OF IMPACT of a bullet hitting the head. And it's also important to note that since the bullet that struck JFK's head at Z313 is long gone and out of the head by Z314 (when the "back and to the left" movement begins), this means that the backward movement of Kennedy's head cannot possibly be caused by THE BULLET that hit him. Therefore, some OTHER explanation must account for the rear head movement. Unless you want to postulate TWO head shots--which the evidence (photos/X-rays/Autopsy Report) does not support at all, and never did.
  9. IMO, the above statement made by Josiah Thompson is a very odd one. While I suppose Josiah's comment is LITERALLY true, I don't see why the Museum's content and exhibits would necessarily have to be dictated by "the opinion atmosphere" of Dallas, Texas. For one thing, a large number of visitors to Gary Mack's Sixth Floor Museum come from outside the city of Dallas each year. I'm not sure of what the percentages are, but I would imagine that well over 60% of the visitors to the Museum each year are from outside of Dallas. And probably more. It only stands to reason that most of the Museum's visitors are likely tourists from out of town. Also: Is Josiah Thompson actually suggesting that the vast majority of Dallas citizens endorse the "lone assassin" scenario in the JFK case? I'd beg to differ. I don't know the exact figures on that stat either, but I'd be willing to bet that Dallas is about the same as most other U.S. cities -- which means that about 75% of the Dallas population thinks there was a conspiracy to kill President Kennedy. Anyway, I'm pretty certain that Gary Mack must be doing a lot of things right at the Sixth Floor Museum At Dealey Plaza, and that's because the conspiracists seem to hate his guts (and his Museum) with a passion. Therefore, Gary's GOT to be doing something right.
  10. You could be right. But I'm not sure if you are (with respect to the SBT/CE399 bullet that struck no bony structures in JFK's body).
  11. How could it be visible today? The SBT bullet (CE399) didn't hit any bony structures in JFK's body. And what's left besides JFK's bones in his casket today? Would there be any "tissue" actually left to examine?
  12. Here is Campisi's HSCA testimony (May 22, 1978): http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/russ/m_j_russ/hscacamp.htm
  13. And if JFK's body were to be dug up, and the pathologists were to find that there's not a trace of the upper-back or throat wounds (since no bones were impacted at all), will that make the anti-SBT crowd stop crying foul? Of course it wouldn't. Because JFK is just the first portion of the "SBT". John Connally is the second portion. Such an exhumation would probably just make more CTers jump on Cyril Wecht's bandwagon. Cyril has always believed a single bullet did pass through JFK's body, but that it missed Gov. Connally (via some magical swerving missile of some kind). An exhumation, of course, would settle one controversy -- JFK's head wounds. It would confirm there was just one wound of entry, with that entrance wound being in the back of JFK's head (100mm. above the EOP), and ALL of the occipital portion of JFK's head would still be there. The occipital bone would be fractured in a few places, but no bone would be MISSING. But I wonder if most conspiracy theorists would even accept the conclusions of any new forensic exam after an exhumation? My guess would be that the outer-fringe CT mongers would still try to insist that something had been "faked". Although I don't know how even David S. Lifton could continue to promote the "body alteration" theory after a detailed re-examination of JFK's completely-INTACT rear of the head after such a proposed exhumation. Perhaps Mr. Lifton would then switch to the "Humpty Dumpty" theory, and claim that the amazing head-altering medical team at Walter Reed REALLY DID put John Kennedy's head back together again on the night of 11/22/63.
  14. How would that be possible? The SBT bullet didn't hit a single bone in JFK's body. So how would it be possible to track (or even see) the SBT bullet wounds on JFK's decomposed body if no bones were impacted?
  15. This thread might be slightly off-topic (but certainly not by much): I thought the video below might be of interest to many people here. It includes President Kennedy's complete and unedited 18-minute "Cuban Missile Crisis" speech to the nation on October 22, 1962. Normally, only small snippets of this powerful address are presented on television and in documentaries. But this video contains the whole 18-minute address. 17. That is, indeed, an excellent point, Michael. And you're 100% right. I should have pointed out in this thread that Reiland made an obvious error just one second before he said the wallet was Tippit's. With the error being, as Michael Hogan noted, that the gun being held by Owens in the film was the murder weapon. I have pointed out that error by Reiland, btw, in other posts I have made on the Internet regarding this subject. But you are right to scold me for not including that information in THIS thread. It is, indeed, a "double standard". And I shall have to re-think the matter about HOW Reiland could have determined it was Tippit's wallet, and yet make the error about the gun being the murder weapon. So, yes, a good question is: If Reiland could be wrong about the gun in Owens' hand being the weapon used to kill Tippit (and he was wrong), then why couldn't he be wrong about the wallet belonging to Tippit? I still think it's quite likely that the wallet seen in Ron Reiland's film is Tippit's...but as I've also stressed in this thread, the wallet could really have belonged to anybody at the scene of the crime. Perhaps a witness. Who can know for sure? Nobody can. And nobody does. But I will maintain until the cows come knocking at my front door that the one person to whom that wallet most certainly did NOT belong was Lee Harvey Oswald. Because if it was Oswald's wallet (or a fake/planted Oswald wallet even), then we would surely have found that important information being placed in at least ONE of the police officers' reports associated with the Tippit murder.
  18. You can stuff your silly "Baker" nonsense too, Jim. It's all a smokescreen, like everything you say. Baker saw LHO on the second floor and all REASONABLE people know this. It's one of the basic, raw FACTS of the case. And ROY TRULY verified it, as everyone can see in the videos below (Truly is only in the first video, however, but Officer Baker's story is clearcut and definitive in both videos; Jim D., naturally, must think that Baker continued to tell his lies for 23 years): http://dvp-potpourri.blogspot.com/2010/08/marrion-baker.html You, Jim, simply have no capacity for reasonably and rationally evaluating the evidence in the JFK case. And all one need do is look once more at this quote by you (Jim D.) in order to verify that what I just said is true (i.e., you stink at reasonably evaluating the evidence in this case): "I'M NOT EVEN SURE THEY WERE ON THE SIXTH FLOOR. .... WHAT'S THE DEFINITIVE EVIDENCE THAT THE HIT TEAM WAS ON THE SIXTH FLOOR?" -- Jim DiEugenio; February 11th, 2010 P.S. -- Can I now bitch to the moderators about DiEugenio pasting huge blocks of text from his CTKA site into this Edu. Forum for "advertising" his position? I hope you sensed the irony contained within my last sentence above, Jim.
  19. Jim DiEugenio's reply in Post #470 was pathetic (as usual). Jim doesn't even wonder to himself the following --- Hmmmm....maybe DVP has a point when he said,
  20. DiEugenio just wrecked his whole argument, and he doesn't even realize it. Because if Adams and Styles were REALLY on the stairs within 15 to 20 seconds of the last shot, it means they would very likely have gone down those stairs BEFORE Oswald. Therefore, Adams/Styles would not have had to SEE Oswald on the stairs. Duh. Of course, Adams' timing of 15-20 seconds is totally ridiculous on its face. There's no way they "started down the stairs" just 15 seconds after the shooting; and we also know how totally lousy people are at judging times accurately. But DiEugenio is willing to accept any hunk of nonsense (as long as it supports his ludicrous "Oswald Was Innocent" fairy tale). Adams and Styles were almost certainly on the stairs only AFTER those same stairs were used by Oswald, Baker, and Truly. And, of course, another little snafu that doesn't bother James "ABO" DiEugenio in the least is this question: Why didn't Adams/Styles HEAR or SEE Roy Truly and Marrion Baker on the SAME STAIRS they were on? And if Jimbo wants to counter with: The two women were on the stairs BEFORE Baker/Truly....then he's got a big problem. Because if the ladies were on the stairs before Baker/Truly, then it stands to reason those same ladies were probably on the stairs BEFORE Oswald too. Hence, they weren't going to see or hear LHO either. And also keep in mind that Adams and Styles started out on the FOURTH floor of the TSBD, which was two floors BELOW where Oswald started his down-the-stairs journey. And if all three of those people had started down the stairs at about the same time, it still wouldn't mean that Adams/Styles would have had to see Oswald, because Oswald started out two floors higher. DiEugenio is cooked on this "staircase" issue any way you slice it. And Jim also doesn't ask: Why didn't Adams/Styles hear the "REAL KILLERS" descending the same stairs? We know that nobody took the elevators down from the Floor Of Death (the sixth floor). So where did the "real killers" go? Did they cloak themselves and disappear? Or did they use their Bat Ropes to shinny down the side of the TSBD Building? These questions don't matter to DiEugenio however. As long as he can pretend Saint Oswald wasn't anywhere near the sixth floor, then Jimbo is happy as a lark.
  21. Jim "Anybody But Oz" DiEugenio will, as usual, ignore the tests that have been done that PROVE that the "timelines" for various things that Lee Oswald is alleged to have done are DOABLE. They CAN be done....and the Beckley-to-Tenth trip is one of those DOABLE treks. I'll bet Jim DiEugenio still believes that it was impossible for Oswald to have gone from the sixth floor's Sniper's Nest to the second-floor lunchroom in less than 90 seconds too. Right, Jim? That journey from the 6th to the 2nd floor, of course, was re-created in 74 seconds by the SS for the WC. But that FACT never stops the conspiracy nuts from bellowing "It can't be done!" Pathetic. And Jim's attempt to discredit Gary Mack's test to Tenth St. is pathetic as well. But, as usual, it's always open season on Mack at a JFK forum. Par for the CT Monger course.
  22. Date: 8/21/2010 3:16:24 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: Gary Mack To: David Von Pein ----------------------- FYI..... Lee [Farley], You've been misinformed (or you weren't paying attention if you actually watched the show). The re-creation of Oswald's route to the Tippit scene Dave and I did WAS done continuously but not filmed that way. Dave and I rode in front of "Oswald" in a golf cart and the cameraman raced from point to point. The entire walk was timed without any stops or slowdowns, and the total time was the same as what several other conspiracy researchers have found over the years. The shortest route gave Oswald plenty of time, whereas the longest route was too long. The other one or two routes would have resulted in intermediate times. If you doubt me, walk it yourself or ask someone else to do it! Gary Mack
  23. I'd like to. But, then too, as I told somebody the other day, I don't visit each and every thread in this place. Not even close. So maybe that's why I've been missing your substance. But you don't find humor within the MULTI-GUN, ONE-PATSY plot that so many CTers endorse, huh Dean? If anything should elicit a belly-laugh (or fifty), it should be that silliness.
