  1. Thanks Jim. This link might be better. The first one worked for some and not others. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/18wO1SgOetEdfe17N_hzwGU4yIe3rLtJrPQRDWePmfRQ/edit#responses
  2. Ben, I believe that John's site has been hacked. I think he's working on it.
  3. Paul, It is closed but scroll down to see the results. We'll be doing another one. Message me if you (or anyone) want to be included in the next round but were not this time around.
  4. Here are the results of a recent survey. The results were pretty interesting. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/18wO1SgOetEdfe17N_hzwGU4yIe3rLtJrPQRDWePmfRQ/edit#responses You can read more about it on this website - https://jfkchokeholds.com/media/
  5. Paul, he has a lot of ground to cover! 🙂
  6. Gerry, A-Rod was also running "Operation Leonardo" aka the AMTRUNK operation. (Capt. Bradley Ayers was hired to work with AMTRUNK recruits). This was the early version to "Split the Regime" as suggested by Walt Rostow. David Morales was originally pulled into AMTRUNK but didn't like the leftist bent of this. Some reading for you! 🙂 Track Two - autonomous Operations developed by Walt Rostow https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=149443#relPageId=1 https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=235780#relPageId=2 Operations to Split the Regime. https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=233881#relPageId=1 AMTRUNK docs https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=43098#relPageId=1&search=davies_and morales and rodriguez AMTRUNK status https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=234832#relPageId=1
  7. Paul, I think John said it was pretty much BS. Veciana was working for Army Intel at the time.
  8. Well worth the time! https://jfkjmn.com/media/?fbclid=IwAR36IwenPIgSI0DoZzzK-1bmT8-7ORv1mR70JxmUrgMbVK5-yHRp-ibpICw
  9. When Larry and I were digging though the JURE and Manuel Ray documentation, we came upon the possibility that Sylvia Odio was being used by Ray to target Carlos Lechuga for recruitment. Ray was very close to Sylvia's parents who, along with Ray the leading members of the MRP (later JURE). They were captured and imprisoned by Castro in 1961. Ray was friendly with Lechuga and was attempting through Lechuga to get her parents released. Ray first attempted to recruit Lechuga in 1962 and in 1963 used "a woman member of the JURE" to recruit Lechuga. At the same time, Emilio Rodriguez, SAS/JMWAVE, Arnesto's brother, was also trying to recruit Lechuga. And in that small world of coincidences, Emilio's (and Tony Sforza's) asset Jose Casas (AMOT-106) was being used to target Eusebio Azcue for recruitment in Mexico City before Azcue was re-assigned back to Havana in early October 1963. And another coincidence, Oswald was dropped into the middle of this. https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=197953#relPageId=16 https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=38337#relPageId=29 The Rodriguez referenced here is Alfonso Rodriguez (SAS/SO) aka Willard Nauman aka Rod. A-Rod was Special Assistant to William Harvey and later Dez Fitzgerald. He was the Case Officer for both Rogelio Cisneros and Manuel Ray. Rodriguez handled to JURE effort for the Autonomous Operations Project. Henry Hecksher (SAS/SO) handled the AMWORLD / MRR effort for Autonomous Operations Project.
  10. Matt, Much of this will be included in the "Entangling Oswald" piece me and Larry are working on.
  11. Matt, I think you are right about Victor. He was very confident. He played dumb when questioned by the HSCA. He was the leader of the Lake Pontchartrain crew and knew Mike McLaney from the casinos in Havana. He also knew Norman Rothman and would hang out with Rothman's son, Cappy. Carlos H considered Victor and Miguel "Mike" Alvarez his best friends. He had met them at the "camps." Alvarez would become the leader of the AMHAZE team prior to the BOP. Carlos was AMHAZE-2523, Victor was AMHINT-24. Carlos and Victor were members of the "cadre" as set up by Carl Jenkins. The cadre were the original recruits for the Cuba Project aka BOP. They were trained to infiltrate Cuba and train the underground prior to the BOP. Some members (Carlos, Victor) were sent to New Orleans (JMMOVE) to train Nino Diaz's recruits in February 1961.
  12. Some good points Tom. This reminds me of Alfred Moran. I haven't had time to chase this down but here are some starting points. https://www.maryferrell.org/php/cryptdb.php?id=YOCOUGH&search="alfred moran" https://www.maryferrell.org/php/pseudodb.php?id=MANGROLL_RUFUS&search="alfred moran" https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=111597#relPageId=2&search="alfred_moran"
  13. Steve, Carlos Hernandez was a member of JURE in September 1963. Specifically, he was the Military Coordinator for Carlos Zarraga's Cuba Libre group which was a JURE member. Zarraga was the number three man in JURE and was their weapons supplier. He was close to Manolo Ray and Rogelio Cisneros. Cisneros visited Sylvia Odio in June as part of JURE's effort to get weapons (Juan Martin episode). Zarraga would resign from JURE 9/64 after Ray failed in his attempt to infiltrate into Cuba and declare a government-in-exile. Long story there. The letter was a fundraising letter from the CRC. The New Orleans CRC was struggling to raise funds to send to Miami headquarters. It got so bad by November that Tony Varona travelled to New Orleans help raise the profile of the NOLA CRC. He stayed at Augustine Guitart's house (Sylvia Odio's uncle.) Leopoldo/Victor hoped that Sylvia would translate the letter to English and send it to local Dallas businesses to raise money for the CRC. She refused as we know. Now was Victor doing a favor for his friend Frank Bartes or was there something more sinister going on? I'm not sure but he sure did paint Oswald as someone that would assassinate JFK. Was that his role here? The New Orleans Cubans Frank Bartes (AMSERF-1) was head of the New Orleans CRC. He attended Oswald's court hearing and would later argue with him outside the courthouse Augustine Guitart, Sylvia's uncle whom she would call weekly, was alternate delegate to the CRC. He also attended Oswald's court hearing. Was a CIA asset. Arnesto Rodriguez, Jr and Arnesto Rodriguez, Sr were both members of the CRC. Arnesto Jr was close to Carlos Bringuier. Arnesto's brother Emilio was a high-ranking officer at JMWAVE. Arnesto was running the Berlitz school of Modern Language when Oswald inquired about learning Spanish and the local Cuban community. Arnesto and Oswald had a brief conversation in Russian, but AR had to stop because Oswald's Russian was so much better. (Brings to mind the caller to the Soviet Embassy who's Russian was bad but his Spanish was good.) Carlos Quiroga, the guy who visited Oswald and brought him FPCC flyers, was sent by the above crew as a "Castro supporter" to test Oswald's pro-Castro beliefs. Quiroga was not a member of the CRC but would attend all their meetings at Frank Bartes' house. He was considered the liaison to the various exile groups in New Orleans. Carlos Bringuier was a former member of the CRC but resigned to become the New Orleans DRE delegate. He still went to their meetings. We all know about his confrontation with Oswald.
  14. You got it Matt. He considered himself a ladies' man and did try and get "fresh" with Sylvia. He and Rolando Cubela (AMLASH-1) would often go clubbing together in Cuba. This is from his CIA profile for the Cuba Project (Bay of PIgs). 2771 is his Brigade number.
  15. It's a tough subject to cover without having to listen to my boring voice for over an hour. Sylvia Meagher in 1967 coined the Odio visit "Proof of the Plot." There's been more than a few possible suspects over the years: Hall, Howard, Seymour; Angelo Murgado and Bernie de Torres; Herminio Diaz-Garcia and de Torres. James Richards threw out Victor Espinosa's name in 2007(?). The key is tying her visitors from Miami to New Orleans to Dallas.
  16. Greg, As noted here in Weisberg's letter to Howard Roffman, LHO was not averse to selling his rifle. Interesting comment by Roffman: http://jfk.hood.edu/Collection/Weisberg Subject Index Files/O Disk/Oswald Lee Harvey Property/Item 01.pdf
  17. The CIA had used their degausser gun to erase the audio on Odio. 🙂 Sure, if asked I can represent the Odio incident.
  18. Ron, let me give you a full response tomorrow. Helms put Joannides in place of Ross Crozier due to pressure from higher authority. The DRE was causing concern due to their escapades during and after the Cuban Missile Crises. We had just come back from the brink of nuclear war.
  19. Not that I know of Tom. Jeff Morley did interview him though.
  20. Well, if you understand the reporting structure, you understand who Trettin was reporting to and who knew what was going on in New Orleans. https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=226681#relPageId=2
  21. I suspect that Helms was getting some of these reports. He assured Luis Fernandez Rocha (DRE) that he (Helms) would be keeping a close on the DRE and would replace Crozier with a new guy (Joannides).
  22. First off, I am not an expert on the SAS and JMWAVE hierarchy. I would defer to Bill Simpich, John Newman and Larry Hancock. My understanding is limited. So with that in mind: Shackley reported directly to Fitzgerald. He didn't have to run everything by Malony or Tilton. Special Operations reported directly to Fitzgerald. (I forgot to add Nestor Sanchez as a member of SAS/SO. He was case officer for Rolando Cubela/AMLASH-1. Cubela didn't trust Earl Williamson.) Shackley wasn't directly involved in Autonomous Operations. He and David Morales did form their own team called Commandos Mambises lead by Grayston Lynch with help from Rip Robertson. Fitzgerald chose his old friend Bob Moore to get Autonomous Ops off the ground. Moore and Fitzgerald both served in the Far East division. Moore had tons of military experience as the Ops Officer for OSS Detachment 101 in Burma where he trained the Kachin Rangers. Moore hired Bradley Ayers and Ed Roderick to train the Cuban exiles and get them up to speed for maritime operations. The Commandos Mambises would later join the AMWORLD project. I believe it was Seymour Bolten that handled PA-PROP for SAS but that might have changed by summer of 1963. Joannides reported to Phil Toomey who in turn reported to David Phillips. William Kent and Ross Crozier formed the DRE in 1960. Crozier was replaced by Joannides in Dec 1962. Joannides was in turn replaced by Tony Sileo in May 1964.
  23. No to all three. I only had 60 mins to cover 47 slides. I had to delete 10 just to get in under the limit. 🙂 Plus I was going to miss happy hour!
