Hi Paul,

After looking at P. 11 of your document it seems that if Otto Skorzeny was involved in the Dealy Plaza hit, then the hit would have been a KGB/Communist plot which I find unlikely. If one wishes to import other speculation abou Skorzeny, I.e. That he was connected with the Mossad, then we are on less solid ground. The CIA "interest" in Skorzeny, as documented in the passage to which you have directed us, is sparse on detail.

"We asked subject whether or not he was acquainted with any individual belonging to the Cuban military. He could supply no significant name or information in this sphere. He did advise us that a potential source for this type of information was one Eloy Gutierrez Menoyo. According to subject Gutierrez was formerly a Cuban army officer and would have many contacts in this area. As an aside, subject stated that Gutierrez had supplied weapons to Fidel Castro during the 1958 to 1959 period through an individual who he knew only as Gonzales. Gonzalez, apparently, in turn obtained the weapons from a Sagaro, who was a resident of Santaiago de Cuba. Of even more interest, subject stated that Gonzalez was, during the same period, in contact with Otto Skorzeny in Madrid and Belgium. Subject could no longer remember where he had heard this information and could only add that, as he remembered, Gonzales had seen Scorzeny in Madrid and Brussels, Belgium, during this period. It is felt that this piece of information may be of more than normal significance in that we recall having been told several years ago that Skorzeny was of operational interest to KUBARK (CIA).  As we remember, Skorzeny was at that time suspected of or reported to be the key figure in a Communist KGB illegal funding apparatus. We will check with the CI staff, WE, and EE in order to determine whether further information on Skorzeny's alleged activities was ever developed."

Paul, in the 1970's and 1980's , Mae Brussell wrote about Otto S., "  By 1952 Klaus Barbie had arrived in Bolivia via a stop in Argentina. He had been spirited out of Germany by the CIA, with a hand from the Vatican. Soon he teamed up with SS Major Otto Skorzeny, who now was affiliated with the CIA. Dr. Fritz Thyssen and Dr. Gustav Krupp, both beneficiaries of McCloy's amnesty, bankrolled Skorzeny from the start. Barbie and Skorzeny were soon forming death squads such as the Angels of Death in Bolivia, the Anti-Communist Alliance in Argentina, and in Spain, with Stephen Della Chiaie, the Guerrillas of Christ the King.
In 1952 the nazi, Martin Bormann's money was released. In Argentina, Evita Peron died of cancer at age 33. In her name was deposited, in 40 Swiss banks, the nazi money. There was $100 million cash, another $40 million in diamonds. Several hundred million more were set aside with Evita's brother, Juan Duarte, as the courier. This led to three murders the following year:

    • Juan Duarte was shot to death.
    • Heinrich Dorge, an aide to Hjalmar Schacht, killed.
    • Rudolf Feude, nazi banker who knew the locations of the money, was poisoned.

In 1952 Otto Skorzeny, who had been released from American custody in 1947, moved to Madrid. He created what is known as the International Fascista. The CIA and the Gehlen BND dispatched him to "trouble spots." On his payroll were former SS agents, French OAS terrorists and secret police from Portugal's PDID. PDID are the same initials as the Los Angeles police intelligence unit, Public Disorder Intelligence Division. The California PDID was exposed on May 24, 1983 as spying on law abiding citizens at an expense of $100,000, utilizing a computerized dossier system bought by the late Representative Larry McDonald's "Western Goals." (McDonald was a national leader of the John Birch Society, which was exceedingly active in Dallas preceding the Kennedy assassination. Western Goals has offices in Germany run by Eugene Wigner that feed data to the Gehlen BND.)
On the board of Western Goals are such Cold Warriors as Edward Teller, Admiral Thomas Moorer and Dr. Hans Senholt, once a Luftwaffe pilot.
SS Colonel Skorzeny's CIA agents participated in terror campaigns waged by Operation 40 in Guatemala, Brazil and Argentina. Skorzeny was also in charge of the Paladin mercenaries, whose cover, M.C. Inc., was a Madrid export-import firm.
Dr. Gerhard Hartmut von Schubert, [formerly] of Joseph Goebbels' propaganda ministry, was M.C. operating manager. The nerve center for Skorzeny's operations was in Albufera, Spain. It was lodged in the same building as the Spanish intelligence agency SCOE under Colonel Eduardo Blanco and was also an office of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.
The Albufera building was the kind of intelligence nest that was duplicated in New Orleans in 1963. That summer Lee Harvey Oswald handed out pro-Castro literature stamped with the address 544 Camp Street, a commercial building. This was a blunder, because Oswald actually was under the control of an anti-Castro operation headquartered there. His controller, W. Guy Banister, was connected with military intelligence, the CIA and a section of the World Anti-Communist League that had been set up by Willoughby and his Far Pacific intelligence unit in Taiwan.
In The Great Heroin Coup, Henrik Kruger disclosed that the International Fascist was "not only the first step toward fulfilling the dream of Skorzeny, but also of his close friends in Madrid, exile Jose Lopez Rega, Juan Peron's grey eminence, and prince Justo Valerio Borghese, the Italian fascist money man who had been rescued from execution at the hands of the World War II Italian resistance by future CIA counterintelligence whiz James J. Angleton."
A subcommittee on international operations of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee prepared a report "Latin America: Murder, Inc." that is still classified. The title repeated Lyndon Johnson's remark, three months before he died, "We were running a Murder, Inc. in the Caribbean." The report concluded: "The United States had joint operations between Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. The joint operations were known as Operation Condor. These are special teams used to carry out 'sanctions,' the killing of enemies."
Jack Anderson gave a few details in his column "Operation Condor, An Unholy Alliance" August 3, 1979:

"Assassination teams are centered in Chile. This international consortium is located in Colonia Dignidad, Chile. Founded by nazis from Hitler's SS, headed by Franz Pfeiffer Richter, Adolf Hitler's 1000-year Reich may not have perished. Children are cut up in front of their parents, suspects are asphyxiated in piles of excrement or rotated to death over barbecue pits."

Otto Skorzeny code-named his assault on American soldiers in the Battle of the Bulge Operation Greif, the "Condor." He continued Condor with his post-war special teams that imposed "sanctions," meaning the assassination of enemies. Skorzeny's father-in-law was Hjalmar Schacht, president of Hitler's Reichsbank. Schacht guided Onassis' shipyards in rebuilding the German and Japanese war fleets. In 1950 Onassis signed on Lars Anderson for his whaling ships on the hunt off Antarctica and Argentina. Anderson had belonged to Vidkum Quisling's nazi collaborationist group in Norway during the war. Clay Shaw, who was charged by New Orleans D.A. Jim Garrison with complicity in the JFK assassination, was a close friend of Hjalmar Schacht.

Michael - did you watch the 50 second YouTube clip? The end of the paragraph above is from the interviewer. Skorzeny was for hire, and Mossad did hire him. I’ve read the stories at length and see little reason to doubt their veracity. If you google Skorzeny the Mossad story comes up quickly. Israel needed someone to infiltrate the Egyptian nuclear program, and the scientists that were assassinated were German, at least some. It as a moral dilemma for Mossad, but they decided stopping Egypt’s program was essential, and Skorzeny perfect for the job. But another, clearly untrue story pops up too about his death being faked.

As for KGB, I’ve never heard that before, and think it is weird to see that allegation inserted into this story.

This from Wikipedia.... it seems hard to believe that Skorzeny would be used for assassination attempts against German Scientists and JFK; but I am just digging-in to this today.

Edit

In 1952 Egypt was taken over by General Mohammed Naguib. Skorzeny was sent to Egypt the following year by former General Reinhard Gehlen (who was now working for the CIA) to act as Naguib's military advisor. Skorzeny recruited a staff made up of former SS and Wehrmacht officers to train the Egyptian army. Among these officers were former Wehrmacht generals Wilhelm Fahrmbacher and Oskar Munzel; the head of the Gestapo Department for Jewish Affairs in Poland Leopold Gleim; and Joachim Daemling, former chief of the Gestapo in Düsseldorf. In addition to training the army, Skorzeny also trained Arab volunteers in commando tactics for possible use against British troops stationed in the Suez Canal zone. Several Palestinian refugees also received commando training, and Skorzeny planned their raids into Israel via the Gaza Strip in 1953-1954. One of these Palestinians was Yasser Arafat.[33]

He stayed on to serve as an adviser to Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser.[34] After, he traveled between Spain and Argentina, where he acted as an advisor to President Juan Perón[35][1] and as a bodyguard for Eva Perón,[34][1] while fostering an ambition for the "Fourth Reich" to be centered in Latin America.[36][37][38]

Recruitment by the MossadEdit

The Israeli security and intelligence magazine Matara published an article in 1989 claiming that Skorzeny had been recruited by Mossad in 1963, to obtain information on German scientists who were working on an Egyptian project to develop rockets to be used against Israel.[39]Reporting on the Matara story, the major Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronot said that they had confirmed the story from their own senior Mossad source.[39] Former Mossad head Isser Harel stated the story that former Nazis were recruited to provide intelligence on Arab countries.[40]

Ian Black and Benny Morris wrote in 1991 that Skorzeny may not have known who he was working for, but in 2010 Tom Segevpublished in his biography of Simon Wiesenthal that Skorzeny had offered to help only if Wiesenthal removed him from his list of wanted war criminals. Wiesenthal refused, but Skorzeny finally agreed to help anyway. Segev gave as his main source the senior Mossad agent Rafi Meidan, to whom Segev attributes the primary role in the recruitment of Skorzeny.

Further details of the story were published by Yossi Melman and Dan Raviv in 2016. According to their information, a Mossad team had started to develop a plan to kill Skorzeny, but chief Isser Harel decided to attempt to recruit him instead, as a man on the inside would greatly enhance their ability to target Nazis who were providing military assistance to Egypt. He allegedly was recruited and conducted operations for Mossad from 1962, where he worked with Avraham Ahituv and Rafi Eitan. Melman and Raviv noted that Eitan had agreed with Skorzeny's recruitment without commenting further, but other unnamed sources provided the details. They assert Skorzeny was recruited after Mossad visited his home in Spain, where he expected he would be assassinated. After undergoing instruction and training in the Mossad's facilities in Israel, the unconfirmed work for the Mossad included assassinating German rocket scientist Heinz Krug who was working with Egypt, and mailing a letter bomb which killed five Egyptians at the Egyptian military rocket site Factory 333. He also allegedly supplied the names and addresses of German scientists working for Egypt and the names of European front companies supplying military hardware to Egypt.

No confirmed source can give a reasons why Skorzeny participated in these allegations of helping Israel. It is speculated that Skorzeny's motives for working for the Mossad may have been a desire for adventure and intrigue, as well as to ensure he would not face assassination attempts from Mossad.

In an article featured in Der Spiegel on 22 January 2018, doubts as to the invovement of Skorzeny in Krug's death have come to light. Mossad boss Isser Harel ordered Krug's murder.

Chuck - thanks for Brussell recap. I’ve read much of that material, as well as the Great Heroin Coup and many other books. I dont think Bormann died in Berlin btw. If even 20% of Brussell is true it’s enough. The Gehlen connection is important because it ties into JMWAVE, since Ted Shackley was Gehlen’s interpretor and stayed in Berlin until his posting to Miami station. Also stationed in Berlin was William Harvey, and many other future CIA stars. People don’t want to look at the Nazi connections, but they are rampant and in my opinion important. I didn’t know about the Shaw/Schacht connection. But I know that Garrison called out the fascists often, and according to Mort Sahl used the term ‘Fourth Reich’ to describe the US.

There is an interesting account by Daniel Sheehan in one of his Iran-Contra lectures about a CIA agent being considered to head the CIA Mexico station. This agent recounts to Sheehan that when being considered for the job he was flown by Nazar Haro, future DFS Chief, to Colonia Dignidad to pass muster with a group of Nazis who were kingpins of an international drug cartel.

Then there is the OAS connection to Skorzeny, which I also had not seen before but which would not be surprising. I think the Europeans and South Americans are much more aware of the post war Nazi organization than the US, and I don’t think that is accidental. OAS received funding from Permindex according to some sources, and DeGaulle himself believed that to be the case. One of his officers was the source for Fensterwald’s allegations concerning OAS funding, as well as OAS member Jean Souetre visiting the US in 1963 and meeting with both Banister in New Orleans and Walker in Dallas, where he appently was on Nov 22, 1963, something hard to document but the French certainly suspected he was.

I’d like to see the Der Spiegel article.

This gets more interesting when you consider that Italian journalist Michele Metta has found in the membership list of Centro Mondiale Commerciale the brother of Shimon Perez. Paz - if you are reading this and I have some detail wrong please correct me. CMC and Permindex are one and the same. Clay Shaw also sat on CMC board, as did the editor of National Zeitung (according to a 1967 Ramparts article on Garrison), the Nazi publication that Walker spoke with in Nov 23, 1963 which published an article on Nov. 29 based on the Walker interview which names, for the first time, Oswald as Walker’s shooter.
