Steve Thomas Posted October 23, 2021 Share Posted October 23, 2021 Cory, I don't recognize the tall white building over the top of Clint Hill's head, but if you take a look at Google Earth, you can see large buildings extending north along Stemmons Freeway for quite some distance. If you read the first few entries of the Dallas Dispatch tapes, there was some concern about the large numbers of people crossing Stemmons Freeway on foot. I think that's reflected in the crowd of people lining the highway in the first picture you showed. In the second (small) picture in your second post, you can still see Clint Hill's right leg extended out over trunk. I sure as heck wouldn't want to travel down the interstate doing 80 mph trying to balance like that, but who am I to say? The first picture in your second post provides confirmation to witnesses who said that the Secret Service men were brandishing submachine guns. David Andrews Posted October 23, 2021 Share Posted October 23, 2021 (edited) People just pulled up and parked on the Stemmons Freeway, starting around the Elm Street on-ramp merge point, knowing the limo was taking that route to the Trade Mart. It was something out of regional tradition, like parking on the shoulder of a highway beside a rural church or camp meeting. In the photo of Clint Hill with the AR-15 raised in the Queen Mary behind, the background may be a rail line north of Dealey Plaza and Triple Underpass. (He couldn't be "laying" anything because that is a transitive verb and he was helpless.) Hill rode spread-eagle on the limo all the way to the hospital, blocking them with his body. The car was going seventy mph ("Fast but safe" was the order on the radio). I drove that route many times at that speed, and it always took four minutes to arrive at the back of Parkland Hospital. When the background skyline of the full AL VOLKLAND-captured photo is looked at that shows the limousine and S.S. follow-up vehicles on the Stemmons Freeway that captured S.S.A.
