It's really about establishing and maintaining GOP minority, plutocratic rule, isn't it, Doug?

Many of the core GOP policy initiatives nowadays are remarkably unpopular-- obstructing gun control legislation, banning abortions, banning books, obstructing pollution and climate change mitigation, and de-funding Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid in order to pay for tax cuts for the rich, etc.

So, the GOP dark money moguls fund television advertising, and "news" programming at Fox, Breitbart, Sinclair, et.al., in order to rally their base with emotional issues like race, immigration, homophobia, etc.

Yeah... I read this story in the Washington Post today. Before his confirmation hearing, Kacsmaryk removed his name from a paper on abortion published in the Texas Law Review.

This has been a pattern with a lot of these Trump judges, including Kacsmaryk, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, and Coney Barrett.

They have all dissembled about their position on abortion during their confirmation hearings.

Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, and Coney Barrett all repeated that mantra about Roe v. Wade being "established law."

Florida teacher shows pro-Confederacy video that rebrands Civil War as 'War To Prevent Southern Independence'

by Brad Reed April 15, 2023⁵
https://www.rawstory.com/confederate-history-month/

"Parents in Naples, Florida are calling foul after a teacher at their children's school showed their class a video that they are decrying as propaganda for the Confederacy.

Local news station NBC 2 reports that an unidentified teacher at the Manatee Middle School is under investigation for showing students a video that gushes about the "valiant, brave fight and the countless sacrifices by our men and women during that known as the Civil War."

What's more, the video rebrands the American Civil War as "the War To Prevent Southern Independence," which is a decidedly pro-Confederacy framing for a conflict that centered on Southern states' attempts to preserve the practice of slavery."

We've got  the inside scoop my friends, of the dialog that lead to Musk removing all of Taibbi's twitter files from Twitter!

Elon Musk posted & then deleted his private messages w/ Matt Taibbi. As you can tell from the screenshots, they were using the secure comms app Signal which allows users to auto delete messages on a timer. This could prevent, for instance, Congressional oversight of said messages

Now Musk:

Taibbi:

Then Taibbi:Image

Mehdi Assan: I guess Elon Musk releasing his private DMs with Matt Taibbi kinda clears up once and for all that whole kerfuffle in Congress over whether Musk was Taibbi’s source.
🤷🏽‍♂️ It’s also a reminder that Musk, a la Trump, is loyal to no one. A lesson Taibbi learned the hard way.

This is particularly ironic in the case of Taiibbi citing earlier, supposed adoration for  Seymour Hersch's example of refusing to use a story provided to him by either Government intelligent services or wealthy private interests. And then Taibbi goes to work editing cherry picked excerpts out of twitter and calling them the "twitter files" He and his reputation ended up learning a lesson!

"Elon Musk stabbing Matt Taibbi in the back should serve as a warning to left or “post-left” journalists who ally with right-wing billionaires: YOU don’t use them; THEY use you. And when they’re done, they cast you aside like trash."

Here's another one of those "good Republican ideas" from America's Koch-funded GOP think tanks.

Cut "welfare" for the poor, to fund corporate welfare and tax cuts for billionaires.

Hawkeye Henry Wallace, who created the food stamp program, is probably rolling over in his grave.

Iowa Republicans Will Spend Millions Kicking Families Off Food Stamps

Iowa's bill on limiting SNAP benefits is a bold attack, experts say - The Washington Post

April 16, 2023

Excerpt

The state legislature, with the support of the Republican supermajority, was poised to approve some of the nation’s harshest restrictions on SNAP. They include asset tests and new eligibility guidelines. By the state’s own estimate, Iowa will need to spend nearly $18 million in administrative costs during the first three years — to take in less federal money. The bill’s backers argue the steps would save the state money long term and cut down on “SNAP fraud.”

The measure is part of a broader national crackdown on SNAP, the federal program at the heart of the nation’s welfare system. The proposed legislation was not a homegrown effort but the product of a network of conservative think tanks pushing similar SNAP restrictions in Kentucky, Kansas, Wisconsin and other states. But experts say Iowa’s represents the boldest attack yet on SNAP, and Republicans in Congress have signaled a similar readiness to impose limits on federal food assistance.

Do you folks remember what happened in the summer of 2011, when John Boehner, Paul Ryan, and the Tea Party House turned down Obama's "Mother-of-All-No-Brainers" deal to raise the debt ceiling?

This happened after the same House Republicans had voted, repeatedly, to raise the debt ceiling for the Bush/Cheney administration, en route to DOUBLING the national debt from 2001 to 2009 with their 2001 and 2003 tax cuts for billionaires.

And these current House Republicans-- Kevin McCarthy, et.al.--  increased the national debt by $8 trillion dollars during Trump's four years in the White House, by passing massive tax cuts for billionaires and corporations.

Now they want to, literally, "Starve the Beast," by cutting food stamps for the poor.

- Donald Trump -

"FOX NEWS IS IN BIG TROUBLE IF THEY DO NOT EXPOSE THE TRUTH ON CHEATING IN THE 2020 ELECTION," "THEY SHOULD DO WHAT’S RIGHT FOR AMERICA. WHEN RUPERT MURDOCH SAYS THAT THERE WAS NO CHEATING IN LIGHT OF THE MASSIVE PROOF THAT WAS THERE, IT IS RIDICULOUS AND VERY HARMFUL TO THE FOX CASE. PERHAPS HE SHOULD SAY THAT 'HE JUST DIDN’T KNOW,' BUT THAT IS HARD TO BELIEVE. RUPERT, JUST TELL THE TRUTH AND GOOD THINGS WILL HAPPEN."

"THE ELECTION OF 2020 WAS RIGGED AND STOLLEN (sic)... YOU KNOW IT, & SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE!"

When in doubt, lie some more.

It's End Times!' Mike Lindell goes berserk fearing artificial intelligence in voting machines

by David Edwards April 17, 2023

https://www.rawstory.com/mike-lindell-artificial-intelligence-2659867397/

“MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell warned that the world could face biblical "End Times" if artificial intelligence is allowed in voting systems.

During an appearance on the War Room podcast, host Steve Bannon asked Lindell about the future of artificial intelligence in voting.

"The artificial intelligence changes everything," Bannon opined. "You can't have anything related to a machine have anything to do whatsoever with a vote. It's got to be a paper freaking ballot."

Lindell insisted people were "coming around" to agree with his opposition to voting machines.

"I've been saying that for almost two years now or over two years, and with the artificial intelligence, you won't even be able to catch them," he asserted. "They'll know what you're gonna vote for before you even think it."”

So, don’t you even think about voting. The artificial intelligence is going to know it...

Recording reveals Oklahoma county officials talked about hiring hitmen to kill local reporters

by Brad Reed April 17, 2023

https://www.rawstory.com/mccurtain-county-ok/

"McCurtain County, Oklahoma is in shock this week after a secretly recorded conversation revealed that a local sheriff and a several McCurtain County commissioners discussed hiring hitmen to murder local newspaper reporters."

Well, there's no point in messing around with all this political correctness, is there?

I don't need no stinkin woke.
