We shall see, won't we.

In the meantime, since Biden began threatening Netanyahu against a large scale invasion and bombing of Rafah over two months ago, the collateral killing of civilians has dropped from an average of 250 per day, to 50 per day.

But people like Ken Klippenstein don't care because their emotions cloud their thinking. I wouldn't be surprised if Klippenstein sees something negative in the reduction of civilian killings. Just so he can continue blaming bogeyman Biden for Netanyahu's depravity.

Biden Moves Forward on $1 Billion in New Arms for Israel

Source: WSJ

The Biden administration notified Congress on Tuesday that it was moving forward with more than $1 billion in new weapons deals for Israel, U.S. and congressional officials said, a massive arms package less than a week after the White House paused a shipment of bombs over a planned Israeli assault on Rafah.

The latest weapons package includes the potential transfer of $700 million in tank ammunition, $500 million in tactical vehicles and $60 million in mortar rounds, the officials said.

The decision to proceed with the transfers underscored the Biden administration’s reluctance to deepen its rift with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Rafah operation by restricting longer-term weapons deals with its closest Middle East ally.

U.S. officials have stressed their opposition to a full-scale Israeli attack in the city, saying it could result in widespread civilian casualties and deepen Gaza’s humanitarian crisis without ending the threat Israel faces from Hamas. But they have registered their opposition so far only by withholding a single shipment of 2,000-pound bombs.

Biden Moves Forward on $1 Billion in New Arms for Israel

Netanyahu hasn't begun his large scale invasion of Rafah. That has been Biden's red line for the last two months. So you are attempting to move the goal posts.

To be clear, Biden threatened to quit sending offensive weapons to Israel if Israel invaded or began large scale bombing of Rafah, unless Israel first took measures to provide humanitarian aid to the refugees in Rafah, AND to protect the refugees from Israel's bombing.

As of now, Biden still has the means to threaten Netanyahu into not invading or large-scale bombing Rafah. Had Biden done what you think he should have done -- actually stopped sending military aid -- Biden would have lost his leverage over Netanyahu. Without that leverage, Netanyahu would do as he pleases and bomb the hell out of Rafah. There would be no warnings for the refugees, and a loss of humanitarian aid. It would be a blood bath.

But, oh well... at least you could say that Netanyahu didn't get any of the new bombs from you.

  • Israel says it has killed 100 militant fighters in Rafah
CAIRO, May 14 (Reuters) - Israeli tanks pushed deeper into Rafah on Tuesday, reaching some residential areas of the southern Gazan border city where more than a million people had sought shelter, and its forces pounded the enclave's north in some of the fiercest attacks in months.
Israel's international allies and aid groups have repeatedly warned against a ground incursion into Rafah, where many Palestinians fled and Israel says four Hamas battalions are holed up. Israel says it must root out the remaining fighters.

The White House said U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan will visit Israel and Saudi Arabia this weekend. The Biden administration declined to comment on a report by Axios that Israel agreed not to expand its Rafah operation significantly before Sullivan's visit.
A U.S. official who declined to be identified told Reuters that Israel promised not to make a major move in Rafah without advising Washington.

This isn't a large scale invasion of Rafah.

This is fake news. There is no carpet bombing in Jabalia or Rafah.

There is only targeted bombing, and fighting between IDF and Hamas forces.

Meanwhile, I just read that nearly 500,000 refugees have fled Rafah. Which surprises me because I thought they'd be in no condition to leave given their lack of basic necessities of life. Maybe the humanitarian shipments aren't as bad as they've been made out to be.

Here we are again, same thing, a GOP primary where only Republicans can vote, so no crossover, and Nikki Haley, out of the race for over 2 months now, pulls 20% of the vote yet again.

America Deserves Every Bit of This Trump Trial Depravity

By Michael Ian Black Published May 15, 2024

“The Trump carnival is once again on full, garish display. It’s a discordant fantasia of conmen, grifters, and lowlifes. It’s cheap mafiosi tactics and secretly recorded phone calls and disgraced lawyers in ill-fitting suits. It’s bad sex and dark threats from a mystery man in a Las Vegas parking lot. Glowering over it all is our ringmaster, DT Barnum, as he awaits the verdict of a jury of his peers in November.

Here we are now, entertain us.”

Once again, it is impossible to overstate how utterly worthless polls have now become.

The polling industry is hopelessly broken, and may cease to exist after November.

Polling is only as good as the people stupid enough or lonely enough to sit around and answer the phone from strangers asking them personal questions.

These are the same people who call into C-Span and wait around on the phone for hours so they can vent when it's their turn.

"This is Mike from Vermont. Go ahead Mike".

Sandy,

Speaking of "fake news," where have you been getting your "news" about Netanyahu's Gaza genocide?

     What are your sources lately?

Truth is one of the first casualties of war, and that is especially true during genocides.  Remember when the Israeli government tried to blame Hamas for bombing the first hospital destroyed by the IDF in Gaza?

Did you study the photos I posted for you in recent months about the so-called, "targeted bombing," of Gaza?

How many buildings in Gaza were spared during those allegedly "targeted" strikes?

As for accurate news, there are a few on-line sites that have been covering the genocide honestly, IMO.

I would include Jeremy Scahill, Ryan Grim, and the journalists at The Intercept in the honest, accurate category, along with the progressive journalists at Common Dreams, and Professor Juan Cole's Informed Comment site at the University of Michigan.
