  1. If people involved in this operation were calling Charley a nickname Charly never used, how well did they actually know him? When I knew Charley he preferred Smith revolvers. What names I have, and I only have some-were given to me in confidence and I respect that. Like I've said before I only have bit and pieces, but they are enough to convince who was responsible. Since I have absolutely no interest in writing a JFK book, I'm satisfied what I know is enough. And what evidence do you have that Angleton was involved AND that he provided the name?
  2. The anti-Castro Cubans weren't worried about what people thought as long as JFK was publicly murdered
  3. he did nod id just that it was there and they didn't care if Jackie ended up dead too!
  4. I knew Charley Askins and never heard him called Boots. All the contempary gun writers I've talked to never heard it either. Naming an operation to murder JFK of Camelot fame as "Lancelot" is simply stupid. As I've said before I've had three books published and am currently working three more and none of them have anything to do with JFK. I have no interest in writing such a book and have satisfied myself that elements of JM Wave and anti-Castro Cubans were involved. Met and talked to a Vietnam era sniper who was bought in as unneeded backup and a Green Beret Master Breecher who informed me the car parked by the underpass was full of explosives in case JFK reached that point alive. There was AND is all sorts of "talent" in this country to perform the task and the actual name of the operation was "Black Crows". I find Tipping Point the most credible book. And I learned as a Homicide copper that confidential informants are never identified. Don't believe me? I really don't care because I'm not trying to entice folks buy my JFK book because there won't be one!
  5. I bought the book and it twice and find it not trustworthy for several reasons. I have a meeting to attend so I'll have to get back to this. I had complex cataract surgery and then was out of town for an extended time for a family reunion way up in northern Michigan with no wifi.
  6. We discussed this in the past and I've read the book that some folks seem to be in love and remain unconvinced. When I have a source who produced gas and motel/ hotel receipts from Reno, Nevada to Dallas, Texas, just prior to the assassination who was a US special forces sniper a bunch of old Nazi's become too unlikely for me to find real.
  7. After being involved in critical war industry in WW2, my Pop took a job in High Energy Physics search at Stanford University in Ca. He told me he never once forgot that he was 13th child of a Coal Mine veterinarian in Castle Gate, Utah. However, a number of his co-workers were so fixated on their own egos they were almost useless to deal with. His boss was the first of his family not to go into the mines of Russia while my Pop was the first of the Marshall family not to go into the mines of Utah. Angleton was dazzled by his own " brillance" and probably got outsmarted many more times than we have record of.
  8. I bought the hardbound version but at 80 I need bigger print and the convivence of loading it on my laptop.
  9. Glaser Safety Slug made by Jack Cannon, an OSS "Old China Hand" and bud of Mitch Werbell.
  10. There seems to be a troubling tendency to read A single Pro conspiracy book and when it resonates with us, we batten down the hatches and race ahead at flank speed. Folks like John Newman worked for decades to polish, refine and reach his conclusions. I was at Brigham Young University on 11/22/63. I came home for lunch, turned on the TV so it could warm up-remember those days? Made myself some sandwiches and walked into the living room to be told JFK was dead. There were no assassination books back them, so I read th 26 volumes of the Warren Commission-ruining my gpa and it was clear based on the actual evidence available that it was clearly a conspiracy. Maybe we should just take a deep breath and return to a careful study of things and holdup on forming an intellectual firing squad. People want to ignore me and frankly I don't care but I would just wish folks would be bit more thoughtful and slower to jump to conclusions.
  11. Looking at the poor quality if the autopsy phots if I had turend in such photos while assigned to Detroit CSI I wouls have been out back to patrol. What kind of bullet can paralyze someone? A rifle bullet that hitts something important.
  12. Looking at the poor quality of the autopsy phots if I had turned in such photos while assigned to Detroit CSI I would have been out back to patrol. What kind of bullet can paralyze someone? A rifle bullet hitting something important.
  13. I did two sperate tours in Detroit Homicide and an old timer there told me to remember Occam's Razor and the longer I was there the more relevant it became. Attended several hundred autopsies and bullets would show up in the strangest place and some penetrated far deeper than expected and others underpenetrated. I think that we must avoid the paralysis of analysis.
  14. I've read a lot about him and don't find it credible. Rereading Hank's book and don't find it credible either. One can be buried in information and most or all of it is inaccurate. John Newman's approach is a documented one and AGAIN from personal exposure there are all sorts of genuinely evil folks in the US and several extremely wealthy Americans who benefited from JFK's murder. I reached the conclusion that it was a conspiracy by reading the 26 volumes of the Warren Report. It took a while and my grades suffered but it was clear to me that it was a house of cards that collapsed about 45 years ago. Frankly, I think the ID of the actual shooters is not needed to know the why. Who controlled the autopsy? Who was refused to release the records of the activity of a lone nut? I did a tour in Detroit CSI, 2 separate tours in Detroit Homicide, and 2 tours with the tactical unit and one tour with Detroit SWAT, and I remain unimpressed by 98% of the pro conspiracy books. A very well-connected Green Beret officer who served in Vietnam gave me a one-word answer when I asked him who murdered Kennedy? " Cubans" and then he added anti-Castro Cubans and that they were manipulated by JM Wave.
  15. I met Charlie in the mid 70's shortly after starting my career as a gun writer while being assigned to Detroit's Tactical Unit. Normal patrol units had two officers, but we worked a 3-man crew. We were marked units in uniform, but we did not receive radio runs and had 8 hrs to look for trouble. Our primary duties were active shooters and riot control. I was trained and qualified as a dept sniper. Because I was a white Detroit copper people assumed my views and they would open up around me because my bone fides spoke for me! I met Jack Cannnon at the Second Chance matches in the late 70's. Again, Jack had consumed several beers while I as a good Mormon boy don't drink alcohol and was quite open about his shootings including two involving Mafia folks. Jack was involved with the Glaser Safety Slug. A regular copper jacket filled with bird shot. I had often about the x ray trail in JFk's brain that resembled GSS shot. Jack was more cautious than Charley but had driven from Texas to Michigan with a trailer full of Glaser ammo with a loaded UZI submachine gun on the front seat. Mitch Werbell, who invented the Sionics suppressor told me that Jack Cannon was the only man he was afraid of. I only attended a few NRA Conventions and Carter being sentenced to just a couple of years in prison at 16 is pretty typical in juvenile justice systems. When I was in Detroit Homicide, I had cases where Black juveniles were sentanced to youth correctional facilities for only a couple of years. My sconces id the rifles in Dealy Plaza as M-16's with 4 power scopes. Two shooters in front and the military backup in the Dal Tex building. We both agree it was a conspiracy AND that both Charley and Jack had fought our WW 2 enemies and I just cannot see them hooking up with former enemies AND one OSS bud who operated in Europe during WW2 told me Skorzany was on a shoot on sight list. So, we can agree to disagree without being disagreeable. I
  16. I knew Charley and he simply couldn't keep his mouth shut about all the unarmed people he murdered, and Jack was certainly capable of a such an act and could keep his mouth shut. But I knew him too and having talked to him on several occasions he was a great advocate of the handgun not the rifle. And again, it's not how long the string is but how many banks it stopped at. I don't know your background, but I rubbed elbows with these folks AND had dinner on several occasions with Vegas Mafia and Agency friends. Knew several Green Berets and separately, Phoenix alumni. I have a good friend who was involved in several events and simply disappeared into retirement. He had a significant number of people who he had put in the ground and never talked about them. There is simply a huge number of folks in this country who could have done much better than it was done. Ruby? You have to be kidding.
  17. Again, why bother with foreigners' who might out everyone else if thing get tough. There were American corporations who got filthy rich like Hiller Helicopter over Vietnam and a large talent pool of US shooters.
  18. Why go outside the US for funding or shooters? Plenty of monied folks who were distressed by JFK and plenty of skilled and enthusiastic killers in the US.
  19. Well, if you had any idea of the pressures and heat in a rifle barrel you'd understand why an ice bullet is reserved for fiction writers. Not a single rifle round fired into JFK was recovered in him. .My view of all this is simple. The shooters are dead, the planners are dead and for me at least ut has been solved. Charley had a history of running his mouth including carelessly talking about the people he murdered. When you pick people for a sensitive mission such as this you choose people who can keep their mouths shut.
  20. Ever see Win Scott's files? Angleton did. Listen to Malcolm Blount discuss the empty boxes at NARA that were supposed to contain lots of files and were empty or almost so. There were all sorts of US agencies operating in Mexico City in the early 60's whose files we've never seen and most likely never will. An old Green Beret master breacher told me if they'd have searched the car parked near the overpass folks would have never believed the lone nut theory.
  21. First I read the book. Second, I've been focused on this since 11/22/63, when I came home from classes at BYU in Provo, Utah, and watched Walter Cronkite announce that JFK had been assassinated. I watched Ruby shoot Oswald. I read the 26 volumes of the WC and knew there was a conspiracy. I know a guy who helped Allende commit suicide and the people involved in such events don't keep a detailed, written record.
  22. Jack Cannon? A much better suspect than Charley. Was one of the old China hands of OSS and Mitch Werbell told me he was the only guy he worried about. Col Bob Brown, retired Vietnam era Green Beret and publisher of Soldier Of Fotune magazine gave me a one word answer when I asked who he had shot JFK. Cubans!
  23. At 80 years of age, I'm surprised I can remember my name! They were both actively involved with JM Wave but did not do it for money. I called in a lot of favors with spec ops and agency friends. I was never focused on the id of the shooters because if you know the why you'll know the who!
  24. He never id'd them by name. He simply stated they were survivors of the Bay Of Pigs. He never fired a shot. He was just there in case they missed-he had lost a family member at the BOP and considered JFK responsible for their deaths.
