Kennedy and who was often dubbed the dean of assassination researchers, died Feb. 21 at his home in Frederick. He had a kidney ailment and sepsis. Mr. Weisberg's career as the writer of about 10 published and roughly 35 unpublished books on the murders of Kennedy and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. came last in a series of endeavors. He had been a journalist, a labor investigator for then-Progressive Party Sen. Robert M. La Follette Jr. (Wis.), an investigator for a World War II spy agency, a State Department intelligence analyst and a prize-winning Montgomery County poultry farmer. Mr. Weisberg came to believe that neither Lee Harvey Oswald, the accused Kennedy gunman, nor Ray was responsible for the deaths of the prominent leaders. He focused on what he considered the inadequacies of the government investigations, specifically an improper probe of the available evidence. But for all his work, he never found definitive answers. He detested many other students of conspiracy, foremost filmmaker Oliver Stone, whose 1991 "JFK" spun out all kinds of theories about the president's death. "To do a mishmash like this is out of love for the victim and respect for history?" Mr. Weisberg said to The Washington Post. "I think people who sell sex have more principle." In contrast, Mr. Weisberg presented information he gleaned from government investigative papers in an often dry manner -- even if that belied his cover tag lines promising "the end of the cover-up -- official lies exposed. Never such an investigation -- never such evidence!" His first literary success was a self-published work called "Whitewash: The Report on the Warren Report" (1965). After being turned down by several publishers, he publicized the book himself and sold more than 30,000 copies. Dell then published it and a follow up, "Whitewash II: The FBI-Secret Service Cover Up" (both 1966). Other books followed, including: "Oswald in New Orleans: Case of Conspiracy with the C.I.A." (Canyon Books, 1967); "Martin Luther King: The Assassination" (Carroll & Graf, 1993); and "Case Open: The Unanswered JFK Assassination Questions" (Carroll & Graf, 1994). Mr. Weisberg, a Philadelphia native, grew up in Wilmington, Del., the son of Russian Jewish immigrants. Mr. Weisberg was sent to look at suspected labor-rights violations in Harlan County, Ky. During World War II, he served in the Army and the Office of Strategic Services. He joined State after the war but left in the late 1940s. He turned to farm life near Hyattsville with his wife, and they won prizes for their poultry. They also were early participants in a Peace Corps program called "Geese for Peace," in which the birds were shipped overseas to be raised in poverty-stricken countries. He turned to writing full-time after relinquishing farm life in the mid-1960s. By that time, Mr. Weisberg's fascination with the Kennedy death was solidified. In September 1964, the President's Commission on the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy -- called the Warren Commission -- concluded that Oswald was solely responsible for Kennedy's death. Immediately Mr. Weisberg set to work on "Whitewash." His examination of the report and its appendices showed what he considered "superficial and immature" research into the possibility of a conspiracy or a different assassin. Vernon claimed that the photograph was taken in some music session. He had got it from some website about a music tour of Australia that had been organized by a man called Ryan. The adding of the photograph might well have caused Vernon problems. Especially from Gibson's parents who Vernon was threatening him with legal action. As you know, it is very easy to remove a photograph after it has been posted. This is what Vernon has done. No big deal. I am just surprised that you are so easily fooled. If something was posted earlier than he checked in and much earlier than I,and then deleted, as happens on here also, then of course no administrator can control such as,to what he has not seen...the same on this Forum if deletions are made when you are asleep in the middle of the night such as the thread the other evening, you did not have a chance to see such until you were awake, if deletions had been made or changes then of course you would never know, just common sense......... Of course no administrator has control at such times....nor members what they see or do not see..and even members that fool the adm. with their information, pertaining to their membership.... as has happened here.... it happens......and no fooling about that.....seeing that there are hours in time difference between countries....so as does happen on here, things can change without being seen, by those in control. Yes, I seek Gary Mack out if needed because after I have solicited one source such a Groden for information, I will then call Gary and ask for other sources that he may be aware of for my own validation purposes. In other words, I just don't hear one thing from an individual and let it go at that ... I want to get a consensus when ever possible in an effort to be sure that the in formation I have gotten is correct. Gary Mack has had a strong interest in Photography and as you must be aware, he has been affiliated with many experts in that area because of his position there with the Museum. I have asked Gary on many occassions if others have started contacting him regularly for information or direction concerning the photographical record and he has told me that I am but of a very few people that ever seek information of that type through the Museum. The Museum has seven or eight full sets of the Warren Report and 26 volumes in its collection, acquired from several people including the Phil Willis family and Dallas FBI agent Manning Clements. The Warren Report is sold in the gift shop and is required reading for anyone wanting the basic information (regardless of whether they believe the conclusions or not). The public is welcome to make an appointment to read them during regular office hours at no charge. The same applies to any video or book in the Museum's library regardless of content or whether it is also available in the store. Bernice, I think you'll find that the Museum is made up of different departments. I once heard that Gary could have taken a higher position at the Museum and didn't seek it because of his interest in the JFK assassination. Gary's position is "curator" of the museum. That fact alone tells me that he doesn't oversee everything that goes on with the Museum. I am also aware that the Museum doesn't own everything they have, but are merely the caretakers of many of them, if not all. It seems that I recall it being said that many times they have to get clearence from the owners who donated or turned over items to the Museum for the materials to even be used, but Gary could offer better clairification as to that bit of information. I have also heard that the Museum now has a head person who oversees what goes on there and that they may possibly be more open to the conspiracy side of things. It might be worth your while to call or email Gary and find out what you can. I recommended someone seeking a definition from Gary as to what the Museum considers a conspiracy book and what criteria does one need to meet to get it sold there. But so that everyone can see what he is referring to, I am attaching the HAND-TINTED original showing the only three persons that Gary Mack and found in multiple copies of Moorman. Hi Lee: Yes, I agree it is disheartening....This is what I referred to and noted in my earlier post, why are the high quality photos, as you call them not available to those..who have an interest in this area....it seems that those that perhaps have them ,hold them over others heads, and then accuse them of using inferior copies , why are they not available...? I can back you up, as being correct, re the men behind the retaining wall.....when I found the Altgens information, it was a surprise about him seeing several men, and that one or two were policemen behind there...Altgens, did see them and did refer to them....to David Lifton..
