  1. In my last post, I hypothesized that the name “Igor Vladimirs Vaganov” was the creation of a master anagrammer, Richard Case Nagell. In post #54 on the Igor Vaganov thread, we looked at an impressive anagram of “IGOR VLADIMIRS VAGANOV”: “R’S VIVID ANAGRAM LOGO: IV” And we also saw that our anagram, “R’S VIVID ANAGRAM LOGO: IV”, decoded to meaningful and pertinent information. Returning now to the last post on this thread, I submitted that Igor Vladimirs Vaganov’s equally bogus Social Security number, “SSN 567-96-2258, easily puzzled out to “J SNIFFS C-2766”. To accomplish this, we merely needed to translate five of the numbers in his SSN to their letter-value using the universal device below. (A=0)(B=1)(C=2)(D=3)(E=4)(F=5)(G=6)(H=7)(I=8)(J=9)(K=10)(L=11)(M=12)(N=13)(O=14)(P=15)(Q=16)(R=17)(S=18)(T=19)(U=20)(V=21)(W=22)(X=23)(Y=24)(Z=25) And we also saw that “J SNIFFS C-2766” decoded to meaningful and pertinent information, with one puzzle answer appearing to suggest that at one time, Vaganov and Oswald’s SSN were the same. I regard the letter “J” in this puzzle answer as standing for “J Hoover”, and according my reading of the ICO puzzles, Richard Nagell also created C-2766 as a “ringer” to be substituted on assassination day for the Klein’s Carcano that matched Hoover’s pre-arranged paper trail. Since Richard Case Nagell apparently went to the trouble of building his ICO puzzles into both Vaganov’s name and his Social Security Number, it seems reasonable to suspect that Vaganov’s bogus SS Number might interact in some meaningful way with Oswald’s real SS Number. Lee Harvey Oswald’s number is, “SSN 433-54-3937”, and we are going to add Oswald and Vaganov’s SSNs together: SSN 567962258 + SSN 433543937 Before we do our math we need to translate the six letters to their respective numbers: 181813567962258 + 181813433543937 = 363627001506195 Next, we need to add spaces between the answer numbers, insuring that each of the numbers is between zero and twenty-five (study the Letter/Number translation device above to see why this is necessary). 181813567962258 + 181813433543937 = 3, 6, 3, 6, 2, 7, 0, 0, 15, 0, 6, 19, 5. For clarity, I will now put brackets around the numbers we are interested in: 3 [6] 3 [6] [2] [7] 0 0 15 0 6 19 5 And next, I’ll translate the remaining numbers to letters” D [6] D [6] [2] [7] A A P A G T F The above letters and numbers anagram to: “...2766 GAP. ADD FAT. We have a “GAP”, in that we are missing the letter “C” at the beginning of the Carcano serial number, “C-2766”. Our answer also contains at least part of the solution to finding this “C”: “ADD 'FAT'”. We have been given an addition problem, and translating the letters in “FAT” to numbers, yields, “5, 0, 19”. These "ADD" up to “24”. We are looking for a “C”, and “C” translates to the number “2”. We potentially have our “2” in the number “24”, but it would be too much of a stretch for me to split that number unless there was an instruction to do so - and there is. Here’s the anagram that results from ADDing the letters in "FAT": “...2766. GAP 24” Like “gapping” a spark plug, we will “GAP 24” so it looks like this: “GAP 2 4”. In good conscience we can now translate “2” and “4” to “C” and “E”, and make our final anagram: “GAPE: ‘C-2766’” This will have to be the end of this puzzle for now, at least for me, because this swell-looking anagram turns into a very lengthy puzzle. Feel free to take over any of the puzzles I present, and please improve on the work I’ve done. Occasionally I need to add that it’s not my goal to solve all of the ICO puzzles. I’m not capable of that. My goal is to show that there is, in fact, an impressive ICO puzzle-system, and if I’m successful at this, “real” puzzle solvers will start solving Nagell's explanatory creations. Tom
  2. Here is another anagram of “IGOR VLADIMIRS VAGANOV”: “IVV IN A ‘ARVIDS’ LOGOGRAM: The word “ARVIDS” is the fourth “Logogram” on the “Vaganov Note” below: EL6-6111 E. STRAZDS 353-1539 ARVIDS JZAKS On the original note, there was supposedly a dash over the top of the “I” in “ARVIDS”, and two dots over the top of the “J” in “JZAKS”. The half King of Spades associated with the note also had two small punctures at the top similar to staple holes. These traits do not appear to conform to linguistic I-mutation symbols, and are probably Morse Code. A “dash” in Morse Code is “T”, and two “dots” is “I” - more about this in a moment. Since this is a puzzle, it’s reasonable to add the Morse Code “T” to “ARVIDS”, and “ARVIDS + T” anagrams to: “V’S TRIAD” Vaganov’s allegiance was to his “ICO” group (Igor, Case, Oswald), and this might be the meaning of “V’S TRIAD”. ICO's method for us to satisfy ourselves that we've found their intended anagram, is their 6-bit binary code. “V’S TRIAD” decodes and anagrams to (footnote #1): “V 3: ICO” And I feel satisfied (The number/letter translation device is in footnote #2). Since we are using ICO’s 6-bit binary code and our last answer was only five letters, we are finished with “ARVIDS” for now. The half King of Spades with the two small staple-like holes at the top is part of the total Vaganov Note puzzle. They translate to the numbers “88-19”, and it’s common for an ICO puzzle answer to direct one to the “88” puzzles in Oswald’s Historic Diary. The complete list can be found in post #14, here: http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=20276&hl=%22the+oswald+code%22 We are concerned with Historic Diary “88-19”, which is: “(2 hours)” Many puzzle answers tell the solver that the Historic Diary puzzles require heavy use of ICO’s “DT” (“Double Talk”) cipher shown below: A..B..C..D..E..F..G..H..I..J..K..L..M..N..O..P..Q..R..S..T..U..V..W..X..Y..Z K..L..M..N..O.P..Q..R..S.T.U..V..W..X..Y...Z..A..B..C..D..E..F..G...H..I...J Once we translate the “2” in “2 hours” to a “C”, and apply the puzzle to the "DT" cipher, we have: “C HOURS + M RYEBC”, and two pertinent anagrams emerge: “C-27...EMBRIO 20”, and, “C-27...ROME IB 20” (The word "ROME" has a double meaning, and I'll talk about this in the next post) “Igor Vladimirs Vaganov” is 20 letters, and since the ICO puzzles refer to Igor as ”Baganov” just as often as “Vaganov”, these two anagram answers appear to indicate that with a little puzzle solving on the name “IGOR VLADIMIRS BAGANOV”, there should be a “C-2766” puzzle in the offing. Please notice what has just happened: An intended anagram of "Igor Vladimirs Vaganov", sent us to the Vaganov Note, which sent us to Oswald’s Historic Diary, which sent us back to "Igor Vladimirs Baganov" for additional work. As near as I can tell, everything in the ICO puzzle system connects, and this simply doesn’t happen with ordinary discourse. A question for researchers: Has anyone run across the name below? “DONALD LEON WEST” I have been seeing references to this name, or shortened versions of it, in the ICO puzzles for a while, and I've not known what to make of them. According to my reading of some recent puzzle information, it was an important name used by Igor Vaganov. I believe "Igor Vladimirs Vaganov" is a creation of Richard Nagell, and suspect "Donald Leon West" is too. In my next post, as in my previous, I will be continuing to explore the hypothesis that “Igor Vladimirs Vaganov” is an ICO created alias and puzzle. Tom

Recently on another thread, I said I believed that “Igor Vladimirs Vaganov” was a name created by Richard Case Nagell - a name he made up for one of the three primary members of his “ICO” group. “ICO” stands for “Igor, Case, and, Oswald”, and as with Richard Nagell, the person that morphed into Igor Vladimirs Vaganov was also a world-class anagrammer. Working inside the Ferrie/Banister/Hoover cabal, ICO’s goal was to both sabotage the upcoming assassination attempt, and to embed their decodable anagram puzzles in all their activities . “IGOR VLADIMIRS VAGANOV” anagrams to: “R’S VIVID ANAGRAM LOGO: IV” “IV” appears to be a triple entendre: It's Igor Vaganov’s initials, and it's the Roman numeral “4”. The number “4” translates to the letter “E” (footnote #3), and "E" is ICO’s puzzle-term for the assassination ("E" apparently stands for Edgar). Also, ICO uses a unique binary code system where puzzle discourse, such as the anagram above, gets decoded “4” times; backwards, forwards, and both keys are in use. ICO’s binary code system was built into ICO's puzzle system so that one could "verify" one's anagram answers. “R’S VIVID ANAGRAM LOGO: IV” decodes and anagrams to (footnote #1): “VERIFIER: J/W X J” "X" means to kill, and the last “J” is likely John Kennedy. “J/W” appears to clear up when we decode “VERIFIER: J/W X J” (#2): “JE, MEW” According to my reading of the ICO puzzles, J Edgar was the driving force behind the assassination, and Mac E Wallace was his main trigger man. If this is true, Wallace was a very interesting choice for Hoover to make. To me, the name “IGOR VLADIMIRS VAGANOV” looked like an anagrammer’s worst nightmare, and I’d been avoiding it for years. There are a few more anagrams that come out of this incredibly well-crafted tangle of letters, and I will post them here soon.   5. According to my reading of the ICO puzzles, “Igor Vladimirs Vaganov” was a made up name, possibly created by Igor and Lee’s mentor, Richard Case Nagell. Again according to my reading of the puzzles, Richard also created a “Ringer Rod” Carcano, SN C-2766. The real Klein’s Carcano, which had the paper trail Hoover was depending on, was switched by one of the ICO crew on assassination day. My belief is that Hoover’s bona fide Klein’s Carcano was conspicuously planted in a Terre Haute, Indiana hotel room by an ICO associate using the name Harry L Power. This was one of many ICO stunts designed to both sabotage Hoover’s frame-up of Oswald, and to shed light on the real culprits. But this thread is attempting to point out ICO puzzles that puzzle out to “C-2766”, and here is “Igor Vladimirs Vaganov’s supposed Social Security Number: “SSN 567-96-2258” We will need to translate a few numbers to letters, and here’s the key: (A=0)(B=1)(C=2)(D=3)(E=4)(F=5)(G=6)(H=7)(I=8)(J=9)(K=10)(L=11)(M=12)(N=13)(O=14)(P=15)(Q=16)(R=17)(S=18)(T=19)(U=20)(V=21)(W=22)(X=23)(Y=24)(Z=25) By preserving only the numbers “2766” and translating the other numbers to letters, the obvious anagram appears to be: “J SNIFFS C-2766” And “J”, I would guess, is J Edgar Hoover “sniffing” the rusty barrel of C-2766 while trying to figure out how things got so botched up. Using ICO’s 6-bit binary code, “J SNIFFS C-2766” turns into a larger puzzle, but since many are not interested in this sort of thing, I’ll do the decoding in a footnote below. Total yield: DSENTEIXV “J SNIFFS C-2766" decodes and anagrams to: “IV EX-SN: DT ‘E’” To find Igor Vaganov’s ex-serial number, we are being told to use ICO’s “DT” cipher on the letter “E”. A..B..C..D..E..F..G..H..I..J..K..L..M..N..O..P..Q..R..S..T..U..V..W..X..Y..Z K..L..M..N..O.P..Q..R..S.T.U..V..W..X..Y...Z..A..B..C..D..E..F..G...H..I...J “E” deciphers to the letter “O”, and the resulting puzzle part, “IV EX-SN: ‘O’” appears to be suggesting that Igor’s SN and Oswald’s SN were at one time identical. Harvey and Lee? “IV EX-SN: O” then re-anagrams to a small arithmetic problem: IV, O, N. E x S”, which translates to, “IV, O, N, 4 x 18”, and 4 x 18 = 72. Since the numbers “72” translate to “HC”, our final anagram becomes: “IV, HO, CN” Or, the members of “ICO” in longhand: Igor Vaganov, Harvey Oswald, Case Nagell. We are finished with this puzzle, but while we have the "DT" cipher handy, we can use it on "A HIDELL", the name ICO used to order a rifle; the serial number of this rifle is unknown, I believe, at least by you and me. "A HIDELL" applied to the "DT" cipher equals, "AHIDELL + KRSNOVV", and this anagrams to: "A KLEIN'S ROD. LH, VV"
  6. Richard Case Nagell walked into an El Paso bank on September 20th, 1963, and fired two shots into the wall. As he was being arrested he blurted out “Capitalistic Swine” for all to hear. Those 17 letters are an incredible ICO puzzle and I’ve posted about it several times. Many of Richard’s other activities that day had ICO puzzles embedded in them as well, and today’s puzzle concerns the money Richard had on him when he was arrested: “27 CENTS”. This is going to puzzle out to “C-2766”. Right off, we can notice that the first three characters in this amount are also the first three characters in the serial number of the “ringer” Carcano that Richard arranged to have planted in the TSBD: “C-27...”. Just like in the first post on this thread, Richard has us looking for a “6” or two, and this will be easy. We will need to use the Letter/Number translation device at the bottom of the post, and translating the numbers to letters in “27 CENTS” yields, “CH CENTS” This is only seven letters, and most of ICO’s short puzzles are designed to be doubled. Below is ICO’s “DT” cipher (“Double Talk”) and it normally works from the top down. A..B..C..D..E..F..G..H..I..J..K..L..M..N..O..P..Q..R..S..T..U..V..W..X..Y..Z K..L..M..N..O.P..Q..R..S.T.U..V..W..X..Y...Z..A..B..C..D..E..F..G...H..I...J Doubling “CH CENTS” with the “DT” cipher yields: “CHCENTS + MRMOXDC” and this anagrams to: “C-27...RCN SEX. DO ‘TM’” I've talked about the word "DO" before, and it means to "DO" a decoding, and the only devised we have to "DO" less than 6 letters ins the "DT" cyber - we are being told to use the DT cipher on the letters “TM”. This yields “DW”, and our new puzzle part, “C-27..., RCN SEX. DW” re-anagrams to: “Re: CN’S C-27.... D x W” "Re: 'Case Nigell's' C-27...", and the rest is an arithmetic problem.“D x W” translates to “3 x 22 = 66”. Our final anagram answer is: “Re: CN’S C-2766” And this re-anagrams to: "RCN'S 'E' C-2766" Those that have been following know that "E" is the puzzle designation for "E" Hoover's assassination. That was the quick and easy answer, and it only required two of ICO’s four decoding tools. The two that we used, the Letter/Number translator and the “DT” cipher, are Cub Scout level decoding devices. One of the two remaining tools, the “Onion” (footnote #2), is also kid stuff, but the fourth tool, ICO’s 6-bit binary code method (#3) is a little more tricky, and I have been trying to stay away from using it in my posts because I think it scares people away. Decoding with ICO’s binary code, however, is the way we check our answers, and “Re: CN’S C-2766” decodes and anagrams to (#1): “C-2766 NIX MR E” And I assume “MR E” is “EDGAR”. Puzzles often tell one to use it, but usually the need for its use will be obvious. Footnote #3: Instructions for ICO’s 6-bit binary code method are in post #5 of The Oswald Code thread linked above. The BCD can certainly be done with pencil and paper (or in your head if you’re wired up that way), but I have a simple program that runs on MS Excel that I will try to send to anyone interested.
  7. “ICO” stands for “Igor, Case, Oswald”. It appears to me that Richard Case Nagell was a master anagrammer and that many of the puzzle pranks that his ICO group pulled were taken from, and/or made reference to, anagrams of Richard's full name: “RICHARD CASE NAGELL”. My reading of the ICO puzzles leads me to believe that Lee Oswald did order a rifle from Klein’s - he was told to by the Ferrie/Banister/Phillips/Hunt/Hoover cabal to create more patsy bona fides. As with most of the setups designed to implicate Oswald, however, Richard Nagell added red flags to these assigned patsy-stunts, and embedded his anagram puzzles in them. The rifle that Oswald really did order from Klein’s, was not the rifle that was found at the TSBD on assassination day. I believe the rifle Oswald ordered, and the rifle that corresponded to all of Hoover’s carefully laid paper trail, ended up in Terre Haute, Indiana, conspicuously left in a hotel room three days after the assassination. ICO arranged for someone using the name “Harry L Power” to leave it for the local police to find. (TERRE HAUTE IND, HARRY L POWER” is an ICO puzzle). I believe Richard Case Nagell located a rifle that was very similar to the Klein’s Carcano, and changed the serial number to the exact numbers he wanted. He did this for puzzle purposes, and I’ve identified and solved several ICO puzzles that were designed to puzzle out to “C-2766”. ICO's name for this fake Carcano is "RINGER ROD", usually abbreviated "RR" in the puzzles. I will be posting these "RR C-2766" puzzles on this thread, and our first puzzle is obviously the reason Richard chose this specific serial number. It’s a naturally occurring puzzle opportunity inside “Richard Case Nagell’s” name: This is a very easy puzzle, and since it involves some numbers, the Number/Letter translation device is at the bottom of the post. The letter “G” translates to the number “6”, and Richard Nagell is sending us on a “G" hunt, or more specifically, a "6" hunt. “RICHARD CASE NAGELL” anagrams to: "C-276..., RN SERIAL DEAL" And “RICHARD CASE NAGELL” anagrams to: “RC CHANGE LAD SERIAL” And “RICHARD CASE NAGELL” anagrams to: “R DANGLE A SERIAL C-27...” And, “RICHARD CASE NAGELL” anagrams to: “A L SERIAL READ ‘C-276...’ N” And “RICHARD CASE NAGELL” anagrams to: “C-27...SERIAL END ALA ‘6’. R” Our puzzle is in need of the 2nd ‘6’, and “RICHARD CASE NAGELL” anagrams to: “2 ‘6’ REHEARSAL, DIAL ‘N’. C” Dialing “N” on the telephone yields “6”, and with the “N” now removed and “6” in its place, the above re-anagrams to: “A L SERIAL READ C-2766” Our “G/6” hunt is now over and we won. Here’s another variation on how we found it. “RICHARD CASE NAGELL” anagrams to: “C-276...SEALER: DIAL A ‘N’. R” And once again, dialing an "N" on the telephone yields the number "6", and our final anagram answer is: “SEE A L 'RR': "C-2766” This was easier than a lot of ICO puzzles, and some of Richard’s other “C-2766” creations require more steps. Richard’s stunt had two purposes, to sabotage one of the key elements of Oswald’s frame, and to tell us about it. Here is another pertinent anagram of “RICHARD CASE NAGEL”, now with the “N” put back in place: “CLEAR CHARADE: SLING” I'm thinking that this anagram was Richard’s reason for removing the original sling from the Carcano and replacing it with a piece of rope for its backyard photo opportunity. Richard did this for us to notice and puzzle over. The Carcano with the rope sling was not the one found at the TSBD, Richard's creation, C-2766, was.   8. We are slowly working our way through an overview of the label on the Undeliverable Package, and my goal is to show that the label is a series of intentionally created anagram puzzles. I regard the label as the Rosetta Stone of ICO’s vast puzzle system, and by extension, a major key to understanding not only who Lee Oswald, Richard Nagell, and Igor Vaganov were, but a major key to understanding the Kennedy assassination. In my first post on this series, #16 above, we saw that the label contained 33 letters, but that there were 11 letters in “Irving Texas” written below the label. I submitted that all 44 letters were in play, and to begin that argument, we looked at an anomaly in the letter “R” in “IRVING”. There appears to be a capital “A” over the “R”, and looked at another way, there appears to be a capital “T” tilted on its side. The combination spells “ART”, and this is a little vexing. Here’s one anagram of “IRVING TEXAS”: “‘ART’ IS VEXING” On either side of that anomalous “ART” conglomeration referred to above, are the letters “I V”, which appears to be another hint: “IV ART”, and keeping that in mind, we can make another anagram of “IRVING TEXAS”: “IV ART NIXES ‘G’” A double entendre, as “G’ can stand for “Guy”, but once the “G” is properly “NIXED”, we can make this anagram of “IRVIN...TEXAS”: “V’S NIXIE ART” And that’s where Vaganov’s art showed up, in the “NIXIE” section of the Irving Post Office. But you may have noticed another anomaly in the word “IRVING”, the “G” actually looks more like a “Y”. Let’s put the “G” back in “IRVING TEXAS” and make this anagram: “REVISIT AN XG” And now this anagram of “IRVING TEXAS” (Number/Letter translation device at bottom of post): “VISIT A '4X6'. RN” The “4”, of course. came from translating an “E”, and the “6” from translating a “G”. “4 x 6 = 24, and “24” translates to the letter “Y”. With the new “Y” replacing the “G”, “Irving Texas” now looks like this, “IRVINY TEXAS”, and we can anagram: “I IN YVES 17. 0 x 19” Let’s do the arithmetic first, “0 x 19” = “0”, and “0” translates to “A”, and our anagram answer is: “I IN A ‘YVES’ 17” And now we have to dig around in ICO’s vast storehouse of puzzles and find a 17-letter “YVES” puzzle. Here it is: “STEVEN 'YVES' L’EANDES” At this point, I’m tempted to tell you everything I think I know about the gigantic “Steven Yves L’Eandes” puzzle. I’ll restrain myself and post about it soon. By the way, “YVES” is a French name and it’s pronounced “IV”. Getting back on track, one of the arguments I’m making is that the label puzzle contains 44 letters; 33 on the body of the label, and 11 below in “Irving Texas”. There are usually clues in the ICO puzzles as to how long the puzzle is, and “44” letters is a common size for large puzzles like the package label. Clues are often found in the first few letters, and/or the last few letters. FOR LEE OSWALD 601 WEST NASSAUS ST DALLAS TEXAS IRVING TEXAS. The first three letters on the label is the word “FOR”, and translating those to numbers, we have, “5, 14, 17”. The 5th character on the label is “E”, the 14th character is “0 (zero)”, and the 17th character is “E”. The two “Es” translate to “44”, and the “0” translates to an “A”. Our anagram is “A 44”. As another example of this “44” tie-in, let’s look at the so called “Vaganov Note”: EL6-6111 E. STRAZDS 353-1539 ARVIDS JZAKS It has “33” characters, just like the label of the Undeliverable Package. The first two letters on the “Vaganov Note” are “EL” and these translate to “4 11” (as in 411 Elm), and since “4” times “11” is “44”, we may have a hint as to how long the puzzle should be. Now let’s add up all the numbers on the Vaganov Note: “6-6111 353-1539”. They also total “44”. Again, like the package label, there are “11” characters we need to find in order arrive at a total of “44”. Our clue to this is in the last three letters of the note: “AKS”. Associated with the Vaganov Note is a portion of a playing card, a King of Spades, and the letters “AKS” are telling us to use an 11-letter version of this: “AKS” = “A KING SPADES”. The note is now “44” letters: EL6-6111 E. STRAZDS 353-1539 ARVIDS JZAKS A KING SPADES Also, the note is now “6” lines instead of “5”, and notice that the first three characters on the note are “EL6”, or translated, “4/11 6” - possibly a tip of the hat to where the “real” assassin will take place: 411 Elm, 6th floor. By the way, until we added “A KING SPADES”, there was only one actual word on the Vaganov Note - the last line, “JZAKS”, and it’s reversed. It can read “SKAZ J”. “SKAZ” is a form of Russian story telling where the teller’s monologue is in a vernacular or lingo not necessarily understood by the general population. It is essential that the listener understand the lingo to appreciate it, and "SKAZ" serves as a good metaphor for many of the ICO puzzles. It can be seen that there are “44” words in the body of the text, and “44” letters in the heading and signature portions (one needs to notice that “Sincerely” is misspelled as “Sincerly” in order to achieve the correct “44” total. We will encounter many puzzle answers that tell us that Richard Nagell penned “44” of them, and Igor Baganov the other “44”. Here’s one handy example (list of Historic Diary puzzles and links to the original docs in post #14 of The Oswald Code linked above): Puzzle number “1” in the diary is “BERLIN”, which anagrams to “LINE ‘1’. R”. Then in puzzle “44”, Richard is finished and passes the mantle to Igor. Puzzle “44” is “TIME”, but this clever puzzle is little too long to get into right now, but in puzzle “45”, “BORATIN”, we get another indication that Baganov is taking over, “BORATIN” anagrams to “RN to a IB”, and another anagram: “a ‘B’ Intro”. The numbers “4”, “11”, and “44”, are all factors of “88”, and it’s one of two sets of numbers used by ICO as unifying principles in their puzzle system. The other set is “7”, “11”, and “17”, or translated to letters, “H/L. R” Next time will look at the exciting and information-packed address line of the label on the Undeliverable Package: “601 WEST NASSAUS ST”. I submit that “Irving Texas” is in play as part of the overall puzzle. We will be examining the label in some detail as time goes on, but I’d like talk about the “Irving Texas” line first. Check out the second letter in “Irving”. It’s supposed to be an “R”, and if you recall from a few posts back, I said the tip-off to the solution of a puzzle was often an anomaly of some sort. You look at the “R” location one way and it looks like a capital “A”. Looking at it another way, it looks like an inverted capital “T”. A “T”, an “A”, and an “R” spells “ART”. And this conglomeration is right between the “I” in Irving, and the “V” in Irving. Tentatively, then, we might suspect that we are seeing “IV ART”. Now I’m going to anagram “IRVING TEXAS” and one of those anagrams is going to tell us to temporarily get rid of the “G” in Irving: “IV ART NIXES ‘G’” "IV" of course is Igor Vaganov, and now that the “G” is out of the way we can make ICO’s intended anagram of "IRVIN...TEXAS" “V’S NIXIE ART” To simplify understanding, I want to stay away from ICO’s binary code as much as possible, but just this once. “V’S NIXIE ART” decodes and anagrams to (footnote): “ART IN V’S ‘44’” Hmm, “44” seems to indicate that there are “44” letters in play in this puzzle. How did this strange package end up in the Nixie section of the Irving Post Office, of all places? The answer, I think, is that “Irving Texas” was an anagram opportunity - ICO created one of their enigmatic events by taking advantage of what was inherently available in those two words - they were making reality conform to either existing anagram coincidences, or anagram creations of their own. Andrej - “Irving Texas” above, was an anagram puzzle of opportunity for either Nagell or Vaganov, and I think you may have found another in “6.5 ITALIAN CARBINE” as well. I had not considered that - good eye again. However, I'm not too crazy about your anagrams so far. Try using the word “FABRICATING” in there. I don’t want to say much more right now because it will let a cat out of the bag that I’m not ready to release. (For those of you that don’t think Oswald ordered the rifle, I think you have many good reasons for believing that, and I applaud your research. I don't think you're wrong, but you might have missed a step. My reading of the puzzles is that Oswald did order the rifle, but C-2766 was not the rifle he received, it was a “RINGER ROD” with a serial number fabricated by Richard for puzzle purposes. The rifle Oswald ordered was taken by one of the ICO crew to Terra Haute, Indiana. Alias “HARRY L POWER” left the Klein’s Carcano in a motel room, causing the FBI etc. considerable grief and paper-work fabrication). If you’re enjoying this sort of thing, Andrej, try anagramming “RICHARD CASE NAGELL”. Many of the enigmatic events surrounding the assassination appear to have been plucked right out of his name. Here's an anagram or "RICHARD CASE NAGELL" I just stumbled on today: "GALLERIED NASH CAR. C" Kind of sounds like the UT Rambler - try your hand at "RED/BLUE PENS" while you're at it. Has anyone heard from Richard Bartholomew lately? And "GALLERIED NASH CAR. C" might be a double entendre - the shooting gallery of 11/22/1963. Maybe we'll find out someday.   10. Thanks to Jim Hargrove and James Gordon for the tips. It looks like I’ve got photobucket working, and my next task is figuring out how to make the pictures bigger. Below is a photo of the Undeliverable Package and a closeup of its label. We will be using these down the road. The label appears to read: FOR LEE OSWALD 601 WEST NASSAUS ST DALLAS TEXAS IRVING TEXAS ("Dallas" is mostly crossed out, and "Irving Texas" is written below the label) The package was found in the ”nixie” section (dead letter office) of the Irving Post Office shortly after the assassination. It had apparently been there for a few days. On the day of the assassination, there were two postage due notices for Lee Oswald found at the Paine residence. The package did not become common knowledge at the time. Sylvia Meagher was the woman who independently took on the unimaginable task of publishing the 1967 Subject Index to the Warren Report and Hearings and Exhibits. Buried inside the twenty-six volumes, she discovered references to this package. Fred Newcomb had the package and label photographed at the Archives, apparently in 1972, and the pictures below are Internet copies of those photos. For years, I’ve been hoping that a better copy of the label photo would show up somewhere, but that hasn’t happened yet. I exchanged emails with Fred Newcomb’s son, Tyler, and he can’t seem to locate the original photo. According to Lee Farley, the Archives claims the package is either lost or missing.

If you’re referring to my hypothesis, your if/then statement above totally misses the mark. Brief statements of my hypothesis are sprinkled around in my posts, and every once in a while I tweak it a little as I add new considered puzzle information. (By the way Michael, this thread deals a lot with anagram puzzles and it’s good to get the quotes right. Oswald didn’t say “I’m nothing by a patsy”, he said “I’m just a patsy”. He also said “I didn’t shoot anybody, no sir.” And I think both of his statements are true.) Below is some of what I wrote three years ago in my first post of The Oswald code thread concerning my hypothesis.   12. Hi Jim, I put the post back on your thread, and thanks for asking. When I saw Marina’s birth certificate that David posted at #338, and read his comment that she was already in the US by July 19, 1961, it got my attention. The tip-off to many ICO puzzles is that they contain an obvious anomaly of some sort, and this anomaly usually lights the way to the puzzle’s solution - the irritant in the oyster that kick-starts the pearl. So I stayed up late and solved as much as I could at the time, and posted some of the results on your thread while the topic of Marina’s birth certificate was still fresh. Since then, I’ve seen that the puzzle is actually multi-faceted and will take a while to unravel. I’ll add things to the post, or add a new post as the information develops. This will give me the chance to remove that post from this thread, and write a proper introduction to the thread. You wrote: “If you'd be kind enough to explain to me what the ICO puzzles are and how they relate to Mr. Nagell and if any of this goes beyond him (which it certainly seems to), I'll reciprocate in advance with the following....” Excellent - and trying to answer your request will dovetail nicely with the introduction I should be writing to this ICO thread. But Nagell was walking a tight rope, and he had serious choices to make about what he said. A major metaphor and major tool in the ICO puzzles is, “Double Talk” - it’s at least a double entendre. It’s not only ICO’s “DT” cipher, but, I submit, Richard’s way, and ICO’s way, of getting by while leading “double” lives. From Russell’s book I get the strong impression that Nagell was not only very precise in his use of language, but insisted on being quoted exactly. From my point of view, it appears that Nagell was telling Russell misleading things, while at the same time embedding the truth in his precise statements, albeit in puzzle form - when it comes to solving anagram sorts of puzzles, one wrong letter and the puzzle doesn’t work. Nagell claimed to have stashed away a bunch of telling and incriminating evidence. I’ve been exploring the possibility that much of that is here, in his ICO puzzles. Hi Andrej, Good eye - I’m glad you’re paying attention. From the letters “RHTELJELEHMIFTHTGLAAFIE” you can’t exactly make the anagram, “FEMALE AT LEFT, JEH RIGHT. I”, because I inadvertently left two letters out - the first two: “LH”. I’ve now fixed the anagram I posted: “LH FEMALE AT LEFT, JEH RIGHT. I” Anagram engines can be helpful, especially for finding long words. But they don’t have many of the names we need, such as “Ferrie” or “Fiorini”, for example, and the programs don’t know the ICO vocabulary. Imagine entering “DALAEDILDCTYWJ”. The anagram engine would spit out something, but it takes a human that knows the puzzle vocabulary to make: “WALLACE DID. DT ‘JY’”. This answer wants us to use the “DT” cipher on the letters “JY”, and once we decode this to “TI”, we have our puzzle answer, “WALLACE DID IT” (DT cypher at the bottom). Andrej wrote: “I am not sure how much of "subjective" decisions one needs to make during solving these puzzles. The more of decisions which are not driven by the code or the anagram, the more difficult it is to reproduce a solution.” I agree, and every day I’m irritated that Nagell didn’t tell his story in a clear and objective way. However, I think that some first-class puzzle solvers could agree on many, if not most, solutions (“first-class” doesn’t describe me). I’ll give you a simple example (Number/Letter translation device at bottom): “HISTORIC DIARY” anagrams to “RICHARD’S 88 TOY”. Does this have meaning? Then from the label of the Undeliverable Package, we get this relevant anagram: “N PARENTHETIC ‘DT’ TOY”. And this also re-anagrams to the invaluable, “ATTENTION: ‘DT’ CYPHER”. As it turns out, Oswald’s Historic Diary contains “88” pieces of “parenthetic” discourse; 44 bracketed in parentheses, and 44 enclosed in quotation marks (the list of 88 puzzles and links to a readable version of the diary are in post #14 on the Oswald Code thread). And adding to my hypothetical example above, we find a ton of answers like this: “WALLACE DID IT. 88-17”. And when we look at puzzle #17 in the Historic Diary, it will relate to and enhance our “Wallace did it” answer. I’ll give a breathtaking real example: During Nagell’s arrest for firing two shots in an El Paso bank, he blurted out what must the most public declaration of his life, “CAPITALISTIC SWINE!”. This puzzle runs on for many pages, but I'll just give you the pertinent highlights. "CAPITALISTIC SWINE" is 17 letters, and a couple of anagrams of this are: “CIA TWIN SPECIALIST”, and, “L, I, 2 TWIN CIA PATSIES." This puzzle is primarily about Lee Oswald and Igor Vaganov being “TWINS”, either literally or figuratively, and it’s a splendid example of ICO’s puzzle making genius - pay close attention to what happens next and I think you’ll agree. All written ICO puzzle discourse which includes an exclamation point (EP) at the end, also provides an anagram that tells one to regard that “EP” as part of the puzzle, i.e. turn the EP upside down and use it as a letter “I” (post #23, the Oswald Code thread). “Capitalist Swine”, however, was spoken by Nagell, and even though typists would naturally include an EP at the end, we, the puzzle solvers, would like some justification for doing so - and indeed we get it from several anagrams of the puzzle itself. Here are three of them, “CAPITALISTIC SWINE” anagrams to: “C.S. WAITS INITIALS ‘E.P’. C” “C.S., IT AWAITS E.P. - 88-11. CN” “EP’S TACTIC WINS A 88-11” Notice that not only do we get permission to add an “EP”, but our attention is being called to puzzle “88-11” in the diary. Once we add the “exclamation point”, the eighteenth letter, “I”, we can no longer make all the seventeen letter anagrams because of the left-over letter “I”, but we can make this anagram: “2 TWIN CIA PATSIES: 88-11” Once again I apologize for not being able to post photos, but below is a link to page #2 of Oswald’s Historic Diary. Puzzle #11, “(TO VIOLINS)”, is on the second line: http://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth339322/m1/21/ The “O” in “VIOLINS” has what appears to be a vertical line running through it and it’s more than a little ambiguous (if you have a way to zoom in, it’s very distinct). This was intentional, and boy do we want that “O” to look as much like a “W” as possible, because then we could anagram “TO VIOLINS” to: “LO, IV, TWINS” But our “W” permission is not going to come from the "Two Violins" puzzle, we need to go back to “CAPITALISTIC SWINE” for that. The 17-letter version of “CAPITALISTIC SWINE” anagrams to: “C.S. ANTICIPATES 88-11 ‘W’” And the 18-letter version with the additional “I” anagrams to: “88-11 ANTICIPATES ‘SIC’ W” "'SIC' W" - Very cool! That was several steps, but not only have we learned something important about LO and IV’s relationship, but we’ve had the experience of knowing that we've been following the 52 year old instructions of Richard Case Nagell. This sort of thing happens over and over in the ICO puzzles, and I guarantee that ordinary discourse will not yield instructions like this except through occasional happenstance. Although I make mistakes and often get off track, I’m six years into this, with several thousand pages of unorganized notes, and to my mind, and for the time being, the ICO puzzles are objective enough. I think total objectivity is down the road, and I think I might know where to find it. The bottom line for me is, Richard, Lee, and, Igor, lost the November 22nd battle, but they were God damn heroes. Playing a role. For keeps. According to my hypothesis, the “Hidell” aliases are anagram puzzle parts left for us by Richard Case Nagell and his “ICO” associates, Lee Harvey Oswald, and, Igor Vladimirs Vaganov. “ICO” stands for “Igor, Case, Oswald”. Like the faked serial number “C-2766” and other “ICO” stunts, the “A Hidell” alias appears to have come from an anagram of “Richard Case Nagell”: “A HIDELL GRACES A RCN” When Oswald was arrested he had 3 fake “Hidell” cards, and when Nagell was arrested two months earlier, he had two fake id cards sewn into an item of clothing - one bearing the name "Aleksie Hidel", and the other bearing the name "Joseph Kramer. A third fake card of Nagell's showed up in his lawyer's files bearing the name "Lee H Oswald". That’s a total of 6 fake id cards with four of them using the “Hidell” alias. “Richard Case Nagell” also anagrams to: “RCN, LEE: 6 CARD ALIAS” Note that the number “6” was translated from the letter “G”. The common letter/number translation devise used by ICO is at the bottom. We would need a handwriting expert to judge the validity of the next two anagrams of “RICHARD CASE NAGELL”: “LEE SIGN A RC/AH CARD. L” “RC SIGN A LEE/AH CARD. L” When Oswald was arrested, his wallet supposedly contained a Selective Service card bearing the name “Alek James Hidell”, and oddly, the card was signed “Alek J Hidell” in bright “GREEN” ink. The “green” ink appears be a tip-of-the-hat to this anagram of “RICHARD CASE NAGELL”: “LH ALIAS CARD - GREEN. C” Referring to the various “Hidell” aliases, Richard Nagell told Dick Russell that if some letters were changed, the meaning would change. What Nagell did not tell Russell is that he, Nagell, had created a vast series of anagram puzzles to explain the assassination and ICO’s efforts to prevent it. The apparent full expression of the Hidell alias, “Alek James Hidell”, anagrams to: “A J.E.H. DEAL KILLS ME” “Alek James Hidell” also anagrams to: “LEE JK ELM ALIAS. HD” The letters “HD” in the anagram above stand for “Historic Diary”, which anagrams to “RICHARD’S ’88’ TOY”. Inside the 12 pages of Oswald’s Historic Diary are ’88’ short pieces of bracketed discourse (puzzles), 44 bracketed in quotation marks, and 44 bracketed in parentheses. ID" alias will be told in the diary, and while there are individual puzzles that deal with the “Hidell” names, the puzzle anagram above is itself, actually two small puzzles. I will stay away from puzzle solving in this post, however, and simply stick to ICO’s “Hidell” anagrams. The name on Richard Case Nagell's fake "ALEKSIE HIDEL" card anagrams to: "LEE'S HD '88' LEAK" Or, "LEE LEAKS HD '88'" Richard Case Nagell's second piece of fake id bore the name, "JOSEPH KRAMER", and anagrams to a perfect description of what Richard was doing: "R, JK SEMAPHORE" Lee Oswald had a fake immunization card signed by “DR A J HIDEEL”, and that name anagrams to: “A J.E.H. RIDDLE” The above is also the first step in an ICO puzzle. Notice that J Edgar Hoover appears to be indicated in most of the previous “Hidell” anagrams. “A J HIDELL” anagrams to: “ALL ID J.E.H” “A J HIDELL” is the name that was stamped on the FPCC handbills. Post #9 of the thread linked below shows how the entry “F.P.C.C. A J HIDELL” contains a “GAP” that needs to be filled to complete the Carcano serial number “C-2766”. After some easy puzzling, “F.P.C.C. A J HIDELL” puzzles out to: “C-2766. GAP FILLED” http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=22752 The simplest Hidell alias, “A HIDELL”, was supposedly used to order a rifle from Klein’s. “A HIDELL” is only 7 letters and to make sense of it, we need to pump it up to 14 letters using ICO’s “Double Talk” cypher at the bottom of the post. With the cypher, “A HIDELL” becomes “AHIDELL + KRSNOVV”, which anagrams to: “A KLEIN’S ROD. LH/VV” “LH” is “Lee Harvey”, and “VV” is Lee’s “twin” (figuratively or literally), “Vladimirs Vaganov”. A related anagram of “AHIDELL + KRSNOVV” is: “A.H. KLEIN’S ROD. L/VV” A quite different anagram of “AHIDELL + KRSNOVV” is: “K’S DEAL: RN, LHO, IVV” When the slightly longer alias, "A J HIDELL", is applied to the "DT" cypher, we get "AJHIDELL + KTRSNOVV", which anagrams to: "LET'S AID JK. RN VV LHO" While we have the “Double Talk” cypher handy (and while trying to stay sort-of on topic), The name Lee used at his last apartment was “O H LEE”. Applying this alias to the “DT” cypher yields, “OHLEE + YRVOO”, and this anagrams to: “YO, E HOOVER!” I’ve only touched on a few of the “HIDELL” anagram puzzles, and except for an occasional use of the "DT" cypher, I did no serious decoding. My hypothesis is that ICO created over two-hundred docodable anagram puzzles to explain the assassination, from their point of view, and to describe their efforts to prevent it.   16. The topic is Marina Oswald’s birth certificate, re- David Josephs' post #338 above. On CE129 there are two document numbers, and three dates. I submit it’s a fake - you might agree. It was apparently made by Igor V Vaganov of the “ICO” team, because he signed the puzzle. What we are about to do is grade-school level decryption, so hang in there, this will be fun. It’s a number puzzle and it’s important that we put the numbers and months in the order they occur on the document. (1) 17 JULY 1941 (2) 1941 14 AUGUST (3) 1285 (4) 19 JULY 1961 (5) 100584 Now we will change the written out months to their corresponding numbers. I” Igor apparently wants us to make two puzzles, one using the numbers from the left hand page, and one using the numbers from the right hand page. Here they are seperated: "RHTELJELEHMIF" "THTGLAAFIE" And here they are anagrammed: “EH FELLER HIT J. M” “A EH GIFT AT ‘L’” I think those are the main anagrams Igor wanted us to find, and my guess is that this is a large puzzle. The next step would be to decode the anagram with ICO's (dreaded) 6-bit binary code. "EH FELLER HIT J. M." "A EH GIFT AT 'L'" decodes and anagrams to (footnote): "THE W/LBJ FEMME-FATALE" The "W" in the above answer could be regarded as standing for "W" Guy Banister, or it could be translated to its number equivalent - "22". i.e: "THE LBJ 22 FEMME-FATALE" Marina was "22" in 1963, but "22" in this puzzle answer is a quadruple entendre - I'll explain in Footnote #2. And since you've read this far, here's a bonus, an anagram of "IGOR VLADIMIRS VAGANOV": "VIVID ANAGRAM LOGOS. VOR" "VOR" stands for "Vaganov, Oswald, Richard", also known as "ICO", "Igor, Case, Oswald" As it turn out, the above anagram of Igor's full name needs a slight re-adjustment to the word "VIVID". Here is the decodable anagram: "ID IVV's ANAGRAM LOGO, 'VOR'" We are now being asked to decode “VOR”, and since “VOR” is less than six letters, we will need to use ICO’s Double Talk (DT) cipher below. For decoding, it works from the top down: A..B..C..D..E..F..G..H..I..J..K..L..M..N..O..P..Q..R..S..T..U..V..W..X..Y..Z K..L..M..N..O.P..Q..R..S.T.U..V..W..X..Y...Z..A..B..C..D..E..F..G...H..I...J So we now have “VOR + FYB”, which anagrams to: “V, RF BOY” "IGOR VLADIMIRS VAGANOV's" name is a fake too, his real one is apparently "LEE" (Not Marina's husband, the other one.   17. I’d like you to consider this possibility: Lee Oswald was working with others to both prevent the assassination, and to tell their assassination story. The group was led by Richard Case Nagell and they called themselves “ICO” (Igor, Case, Oswald). Richard Nagell was of course in jail on the 22nd, but the rest of the ICO team followed through with his plans, which included creating baffling enigmas with decodable puzzles embedded. I won’t do any decoding in this post, but since there are some occasional numbers, ICO’s number/letter translation device is at the bottom. Anagram of “Carcano”: “A RC, A CON” Anagram of “Mauser”: “R AMUSE” Anagram of “Mauser”: “A ‘M’ RUSE” Anagram of “Mauser”: “A REMUS” (Roman mythology: “Remus”, a “TWIN”. Keep the word “TWIN” in mind for later) For the next anagram, it’s helpful to know that “ICO’s” term for the assassination was “E”. “MAUSER” anagram: “‘E’ MR. USA” (“Mr. USA” is Kennedy) Anagram of “Mauser/Carcano”: “A MAUSER, A RC CON” Anagram of “Mauser/Carcano”: “CARCANO, R AMUSE” Anagram of “Carcano C-2766”: “RCN, ‘C’ GAG COACH” Richard Nagell plucked anagrams from both his name and Oswald’s, and turned them into self-fulfilling prophesies - making them come to life in his assassination puzzles. There are many examples of this, and here’s a few that are pertinent. Richard Case Nagell anagrams to: “A HIDELL GRACES A RCN” If we wanted to include “C-2766 in an anagram of Richard Case Nagell, we would need the letters “C-CHGG”, but there is only one “G” ("6") in his name. “Richard Case Nagell” anagram: “C-27... SERIAL END ALA ‘6’. R Ah, but how about this one: “C-276.... SEALER: DIAL A ‘N’. R” Dial “N” on your phone, and it’s a “6”. We can now replace the “N” in Richard Case Nagell’s name with a “6”, and anagram; “A C-2766 - ALL REALISED” And that completes Nagell's little plan to have us hunt for the "6" he wanted us to find. And there are several other anagrams of "Richard Case Nagell" that lead us to the same place, completing the serial number of the Carcano. While this is not the best example, ICO puzzles jack you around, they let you know you're working on a man-made puzzle and not just making stuff up. Earlier I asked you to keep the word “TWIN” in mind, and another mythological “TWIN” is “Casandra”. Sister of Helen of Troy, Casandra was cursed with always telling the truth, but never being believed. Here is another anagram of “Richard Case Nagell”: “CASANDRA ILL, CHEER ‘6’” And then there is the anagram of Richard Case Nagell’s public declaration as he was being arrested in an El Paso bank - “CAPITALISTIC SWINE” anagrams: “CIA TWIN SPECIALIST” Twin Carcanos and/or Mausers, twin Oswalds, twin belts, twin wallets, twin bags. A couple more anagrams and I’ll be finished. I think the “James Branum Doodle” is an overlay of some sort that interfaces with the label of the “Undeliverable Package” but I’m a ways from figuring this out. To finish off this post, here are a few pertinent anagrams of “Lee Harvey Oswald”: (1) “A WES HELD OVERLAY” (2) “WESLEY HAD A ROLE. V” (3) “A WESLEY DROVE A LH” (4) “WESLEY HAD REAL O. The label on this package is, I submit, the Rosetta Stone of ICO's puzzle system. The label contains 13 primary letters (the first letter of each word plus the numbers). From these 13 letters, we are supposed to find intended meaningful anagrams. The label reads: For Lee Oswald 601 West Nassaus St Dallas Texas Irving Texas The word "Dallas" is crossed out except for the "D", and Irving Texas is written below the label. Once we translate the "601" to "GAB", the primary letters are: "FLOGABWNSDTIT", and one anagram of this is: "LO TWIN BAG. DT 'SF'" I said I wasn't going to do any decoding in this post, but I lied. We now need to use ICO's "DT" cypher (below) on the "SF" in the anagram above, and "SF" becomes, "IV". Our puzzle answer is now: "LO TWIN BAG. IV" We could also rearrange the above anagram: "IV BAG, LO TWIN" ("IV BAG", read "IV BAGANOV") There is much more to this interesting puzzle but I've said it all before. My hypothesis in a nutshell is that Oswald and his two associates (Nagell and Vaganov) were trying to prevent the assassination, and at the same time concocting decodable anagram puzzles to tell their story. Two belts and two wallets, if true, might have been one of their enigmatic creations. According to my hypothesis, these three low-level intelligence types had a preference for 13-letter puzzles, and since “2 WALLETS BELTS” seems like the most logical13 letter rendering, it might be a good starting point. For anagram purposes, “2” is equivalent to “C” (translation device at bottom), so “C WALLETS BELTS” would be my first guinea pig, and the first anagram to look promising is: “C TELLS WB TALES” Or changing the “C” back to a “2”: “2 TELLS WB TALES” The “WB” in this anagram would stand for “William Banister”, and the “2” appears to be a double entendre, because when we focus on “C TELLS WB TALES”, the “C” would stand for “Case”, as in “Richard Case Nagell.” “2 WALLETS BELTS” - “C TELLS WB TALES” To gain some assurance that this anagram was intended by the trio, one would use “ICO’s” 6-bit binary code method, and this would yield another string of letters to anagram. I’m in the middle of a serious computer crash and won’t do any of this work now (big sigh of relief). We might find out, however, that our binary code (“BC”) results are garbage and we’ll need to move on. But there is more we can do with this one: “C TELLS WB TALES” can be re-arranged into another pertinent anagram: “BC TELLS 22 TALES” (Binary Code Tells 22nd Tales, and I merely translated the “W” to its equivalent number, “22”) So, there might have been “Twin” Oswalds (Lee and Igor working together, in my view), “Twin” belts, and “Twin” wallets.
