  1. Does anyone know who this witness was that Westbrook is talking about?

    WC testimony of William Westbrook

    https://www.jfk-assassination.net/russ/testimony/westbrook.htm

Mr. BALL. Where were you when this lady came up who was an eyewitness?
Mr. WESTBROOK. We were at the squad car--Tippit's squad car--it had never been moved.
Mr. BALL. You were near 10th and Patton?
Mr. WESTBROOK. And she was telling us what had occurred.
Mr. BALL. Do you remember her name?
Mr. WESTBROOK. No; the other officers got it.
Mr. BALL. Was it a Mrs. Markham?
Mr. WESTBROOK. It could have been, sir; I don't recall, because I directed someone there to be sure and get her name for the report, but she lived directly across the street, and she told us--or was in the process of telling us how it occurred--what she had seen, when someone hollered a patrolman hollered--"It's just come over the radio that they've got a suspicious person in the Texas Theatre."

Hi everyone, I’ve been reading the forum for a couple of years now but this is my first time posting.

This article stood out to me a few years ago and I’m wondering if anyone knows if there was ever a follow up or more information regarding the Carcano rifle that Loran Hall gave to his stepsons, Jim and John Pappas, a few weeks after Kennedy was assassinated.

Anyone have any theories as to why Hall would have the rifle, or could it just be a morbid souvenir that he picked up?

    Hello Mike,

I can't really speak about Loren Hall and a Carcano. To tell you the truth, I hadn't heard that before, so I'll be sure to read the article you referenced.

In any case, I'm glad you're here and I hope you'll take an active part in the discussions.

  3. Trump’s legal team continues effort to disqualify Georgia DA as possible state indictments loom

By Jason Morris, CNN July 21, 2023

    https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/21/politics/georgia-da-trump-legal-team/index.html

“Former President Donald Trump’s legal team in Georgia is continuing its efforts to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from pursuing her 2020 election interference investigation, as possible indictments in the state loom.

In a new, 650-page filing in the Superior Court of Fulton County, Trump’s lawyers stepped up attacks on Willis, a Democrat. CNN has previously reported that Willis is considering bringing racketeering and conspiracy charges in connection with Trump and his allies’ efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia. The district attorney’s office declined to comment.

In the filing, Trump’s lawyers argue that due to Willis’ “conflict of interest” as a political candidate, she should not be allowed to continue to pursue the case.”

    650 pp ?

If it takes you 650 pages to say what you want to say, that’s called a snowjob.

Can you imagine the time it took to put together a 650 page filing? It seems like those lawyers would have found it a much better use of their time putting together a defense.

Well Steve, the documented record just got deeper.  Thanks for caring to dig on this.  At one point in the article it states the train is stopped on the overpass, not which end.  One question I'm asking myself at the moment is how long was a boxcar? Would nine of them equaled 3-400 yards,...

    Ron,

    https://www.american-rails.com/box.html

While the M&H invented the boxcar the pioneering Baltimore & Ohio is given the nod for developing the first practical design.  At 30 feet in length and 7 feet wide it featured side-doors and was capable of handling 10 tons of freight.

The 50-foot boxcar made its first appearance in the 1930s and steadily grew in popularity over the years, which further improved redundancies by allowing for even more space within a given car. Today, the 50-footer remains the common boxcar size.

    From Wikipedia

In the present day, hobos and migrant workers have often used boxcars in their journeys (see freighthopping), since they are enclosed and cannot be seen by railroad police, as well as being to some degree insulated from cold weather.[5] Hobo Code, a form of hieroglyphs used by hobos, developed as a code to give information to Hobos freighthopping.[6]

9 of them at 30 ft. per car would be 270 feet, or 90 yards

9 of them at 50 ft. per car would be 450 feet, or 150 yards

    Ron,

I have  no idea how this fits into the picture, but at 1:44 PM, the Dispatcher radios Unit 297 (a three-wheeled motorcycle officer - identity unknown at the moment), and says,

297, "contact 9 and notify him they are holding up a north-bound freight train there in the yard and they want to shake it down before they let it go. Do you want to send some officers over there to shake it down?"

    297 responds, "10-4"

    9 is Insp!ector Sawyer

Then word was put out that the suspect had run into the Jefferson Branch Library a few blocks away.  With others, Westbrook hightailed it over to the library.  A few minutes after arriving there, Westbrook contacted Sgt. Calvin "Bud" Owens (who was in charge of the scene at Tenth and Patton) to inform him that the library call was a dead end.

It was only after talking to Owens that Westbrook then headed for the Tippit shooting scene.  No way he did all of this in time to arrive at the shooting scene "by 1:30pm".

The Dispatch Tapes have him relaying this information to Bud Owens at 1:34 PM.

My research centers arund the use of the name, "Harvey Lee Oswald". It is not connected to the Harvey and Lee theory.

To me, Harvey Lee Oswald is a name, a file, a dossier that appears in State Department, FBI, CIA, Russian Government, Secret Service, U.S. Navy, and local Police Department files.

I have compiled a list of 50 such occasions where the name appears.

I'm not sure anymore they are the tramps in the pictures.

That a second arrest of three tramps occurred happened 1-2 hours after the assassination several hundred yards south of the RR yard and DP is documented by the officers statements at the time and over time as well as documents.

My question now is why.  First set of tramps, hobos.  Second set?

Why were they running along the tracks several hundred yards south of DP climbing into a grain car over an hour after the assassination?

    Ron,

Something that's never been clear to me...

The train south of Dealey Plaza...

Which direction was it headed? Was it headed back into Dealey Plaza, or was it headed out of town? Was it stationary, or was it moving?

If it was headed out of town, why would it have been stationary? If the cops "ran" to it for 400 yards, or a half a mile, they couldn't have been running after a moving train could they?

Did Bowers say that he called the train and told it to stop?

WC testimony of Sheriff Bill Decker

    https://www.jfk-assassination.net/russ/testimony/decker.htm

Mr. HUBERT - Now, when prisoners are put in your custody or you take them into your custody who are awaiting trial, where are they placed, in cell blocks or something of that sort?
Mr. DECKER - Oh, yes; we have a jail there with a capacity of 750 prisoners.

Mr. DECKER - Most prisoners taken in custody by the city police are arrested within the corporate limits of the city of Dallas and they in turn are moved to the city jail, which is located at the corner of Main and Harwood, or better still, in the 2000 block of Main Street, and there confined until their period of investigation is completed.
Mr. HUBERT - How long is that?
Mr. DECKER - Well, now, that's a problem I couldn't--there would be no way to answer that--how long does it take to make some investigation?
Mr. HUBERT - What I had in mind was whether there was any rule, regulation, or law?
Mr. DECKER - No; someone said once you couldn't hold them over 24 or 36 hours, but where it is, I don't know. The city ordinance under which most municipalities work is--they have a right to arrest and hold for investigation until they could determine if a crime has been committed. That leaves it pretty blank.

Mr. HUBERT - All right. Now, let's assume that a man has been formally charged and that there has been a capias or warrant
Mr. DECKER - It's a warrant in this case.
Mr. HUBERT - Of arrest, which authorizes you to arrest the particular prisoner?
Mr. DECKER - I or one of the constables.
Mr. HUBERT - What is your custom--are there any rules or regulations or laws?
Mr. DECKER - No; there's no rules or regulations---

The way I look at it is that mostly the first people to  flood the railway yards were Sheriff's Deputies. They were closest to the action, and the City Policemen who were on the scene were manning the intersections. I can see Sheriff's people picking up the Tramps first, right behind the TSBD.

Dispatch put out a call for all available units to report to Elm and Houston Code 3. A lot of them did respond and assisted in searching the TSBD.

Later, the Tramps were picked up south of Dealey Plaza by Wise and Vaughn and Bass, etc.

  20. Death toll in Kenya starvation cult case passes 400

    by Agence France-Presse July 17, 2023

“The death toll in an investigation linked to a Kenyan cult that practised starvation to "meet Jesus Christ" has exceeded 400 after 12 more bodies were found on Monday, a senior official said.

"Total death Toll - 403," Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha told AFP in a message, following the latest round of exhumations in the Shakahola forest, where cult leader Paul Nthenge Mackenzie allegedly urged followers to starve to death.”

Following the discovery of the mass graves near the Indian Ocean town of Malindi, Mackenzie, his wife and 16 other defendants were taken into custody.

The 16 men are accused of operating an armed "enforcer gang" tasked with ensuring that no one broke their fast or left their forest hideout alive.

Kindiki, who was speaking before a senate committee probing the saga, also laid blame on the judiciary for their handling of earlier cases involving Mackenzie, saying that prosecutors should have ensured he remained in jail.

"The Shakahola massacre is the worst breach of security in the history of our country," he said, vowing to "relentlessly push for legal reforms to tame rogue preachers.""

    David,

I wouldn't attach too much importance to the reason for holding the men.

I think it was the practice of the 1963's DPD era to slap any old charge on the booking sheet: Vagrancy, Burglary, Robbery, Suspicion of Murder... anything to justify picking a suspect up and holding him for a while.

Look at the arrest report for Daniel Wayne Douglas.

    I asked bard.google.com the following:

Can you check the api for any witnesses that saw a gunman in the grassy knoll area?

This is the reply that I received:

Sure, I can check the JFK Archive API for any witnesses that saw a gunman in the grassy knoll area.

There are several witnesses who claimed to have seen a gunman in the grassy knoll area on the day of the assassination. However, their testimony has been disputed by other witnesses, and there is no consensus on whether or not a gunman was actually present in the grassy knoll area.

Some of the witnesses who claimed to have seen a gunman in the grassy knoll area include:

    • Howard Brennan: Brennan was a Dallas resident who was standing on the grassy knoll when the shots were fired. He stated that he saw a man with a rifle in the grassy knoll area.
    • James Tague: Tague was a bystander who was standing near the grassy knoll when the shots were fired. He was struck by a bullet fragment that he believed came from the grassy knoll area.
    • Marie Tippit: Tippit was the wife of Dallas police officer J.D. Tippit, who was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald shortly after the assassination. Tippit stated that she saw a man with a rifle in the grassy knoll area.

The testimony of these witnesses has been disputed by other witnesses, who stated that they did not see anyone with a rifle in the grassy knoll area. The Warren Commission concluded that there was no evidence to support the claims that a gunman was present in the grassy knoll area. However, some people believe that the Warren Commission's conclusion was incorrect, and that a gunman was indeed present in the grassy knoll area.

The question of whether or not a gunman was present in the grassy knoll area is still a matter of debate. There is no definitive answer to this question, and the evidence is inconclusive.

So this obviously would be shocking to know, Marie Tippit was at Dealey Plaza when JFK was assassinated.

I went ahead and asked it:

Can you show me the documents for these witnesses

    It replied:

Sure, here are some of the documents for the witnesses who claimed to have seen a gunman in the grassy knoll area:

    • Warren Commission Document 2190: This document is a transcript of an interview with Howard Brennan. Brennan stated that he saw a man with a rifle in the grassy knoll area.
    • Warren Commission Document 2223: This document is a transcript of an interview with James Tague. Tague stated that he was struck by a bullet fragment that he believed came from the grassy knoll area.
    • Warren Commission Document 2335: This document is a transcript of an interview with Marie Tippit. Tippit stated that she saw a man with a rifle in the grassy knoll area.

These are just a few of the documents that contain testimony from witnesses who claimed to have seen a gunman in the grassy knoll area. There are many other documents that contain testimony from these witnesses, and the JFK Archive API is a good resource for finding these documents.

It is important to note that the testimony of these witnesses has been disputed by other witnesses, who stated that they did not see anyone with a rifle in the grassy knoll area.

So, obviously I wanted to see what was in 2335.

Can you show me Warren Commission Document 2335

    It replied:

Sure, here is the transcript of Warren Commission Document 2335:

    Date: November 29, 1963

    Location: Dallas, Texas

    Interviewer: Arlen Specter

    Interviewee: Marie Tippit

I don't know guys. It seems like there's something wrong in all of this.

Isn't November 29, 1963 the date the Warren Commissi9n was established?
