CIA accountant James Wilcott said he made payments to an encrypted account for “Oswald or the Oswald Project.” 2. Antonio Veciana said he saw LHO meeting with CIA’s Maurice Bishop/David Atlee Phillips in Dallas in August 1963. 3. A 1978 CIA memo indicates that a CIA operations officer “had run an agent into the USSR, that man having met a Russian girl and eventually marrying her,” a case very similar to Oswald’s and clearly indicating that the Agency ran a “false defector” program in the 1950s. 4. Robert Webster and LHO "defected" a few months apart in 1959, both tried to "defect" on a Saturday, both possessed "sensitive" information of possible value to the Russians, both were befriended by Marina Prusakova, and both returned to the United States in the spring of 1962. 5. George Joannides, case officer and paymaster for DRE (which LHO had attempted to infiltrate) was put in charge of lying to the HSCA and never told them of his relationship to DRE. 9. For his achievements, Joannides was given a medal by the CIA. 10. FBI took Oswald off the watch list at the same time a CIA cable gave him a clean bill of political health, weeks after Oswald’s New Orleans arrest and less than two months before the assassination. 11. Oswald’s lengthy “Lives of Russian Workers” essay reads like a pretty good intelligence report. 12. Oswald’s possessions were searched for microdots. 13. Oswald owned an expensive Minox spy camera, which the FBI tried to make disappear. 14. Even the official cover story of the radar operator near American U-2 planes defecting to Russia, saying he would give away all his secrets, and returning home without penalty smells like a spy story. 15. CIA Richard Case Nagell clearly knew about the plot to assassinate JFK and LHO’s relation to it, but the CIA ignored his warnings. 16. LHO always seemed poor as a church mouse, until it was time to go “on assignment.” For his Russian adventure, we’re to believe he saved all the money he needed for first class European hotels and private tour guides in Moscow from the non-convertible USMC script he saved. In the summer of 1963, he once again seemed to have enough money to travel abroad to Communist nations. 17. To this day, the CIA claims it never interacted with Oswald, that it didn’t even bother debriefing him after the “defection.” What utter bs…. 18. After he “defected” to the Soviet Union in 1959, bragging to U.S. embassy personnel in Moscow that he would tell the Russians everything he knew about U.S. military secrets, he returns to the U.S. without punishment and is then in 1963 given the OK to travel to Cuba and the Soviet Union again! 19. Allen Dulles, the CIA director fired by JFK, and the Warren Commission clearly wanted the truth hidden from the public to protect sources and methods of intelligence agencies such as the CIA. Earl Warren said, “Full disclosure was not possible for reasons of national security.” 20. President Kennedy and the CIA clearly were at war with each other in the weeks immediately before his assassination, and “Oswald” was the CIA’s pawn.

Why should I bother? Two months after the death of his father Lee Harvey Oswald was born, on October 18, 1939. He was delivered by Dr. Bruno F. Mancuso at the Old French Hospital in New Orleans. Well, this is weird.... I was talking to John A. a few minutes ago, and he asked me what I was doing today, and I said arguing about Oswald's birth card or short form birth certificate or whatever you want to call it, and he said, "Oh, I have his official birth certificate. I thought I emailed it to you and David and some others recently." I asked him where he got it, and he said he didn't remember, though I suspect he does. He has met with Marina many times and has gotten much original documentation on Oswald from her, but she is just one possibility. John wouldn't give me a clue where it came from. He said he'll dig up the copy of the official certificate and send it to me as soon as he can find an electronic copy (he has a number of different homes and he's away from the stateside one that has most of his printed docs). If he sends it to me, and I'll bet he does, I'll be damned if I know what to do with it. I won't post it here without an OK from James Gordon or someone else who can speak on this board's behalf. Considering Louisiana law, I'm not sure I'd post it anyway. Perhaps I should speak with an attorney, Lance. Interesting....

Tracy, If you want to pretend this .... ... is an official New Orleans birth certificate, be my guest. It's amazing that in your blog you declared victory by claiming that a 1924 version of a similar document was declared a birth certificate by bookseller AbeBooks. I have proved that now, as well as 46 years ago, New Orleans official birth certificates required more data than is included on the document above. John Armstrong said it wasn't an official birth certificate, and that one hasn't been released, and he was right on both counts.

You fellows keep moving the goal posts. Lance, for example, first declares that we can't see Oswald's official birth certificate because it doesn't exist, and then he says maybe it does exist but the law won't allow us to see it for several more decades. Perhaps someone will point to an explanation by the WC or the HSCA or the ARRB explaining that this is the case. There are privacy laws about IRS returns and Social Security Administration reports too, but the government published a number of them about "Lee Harvey Oswald," no doubt because of the extenuating circumstances. Here's that 1971 official birth certificate published by media.nola.com: And here is what is today referred to as a "birth card" for the 1939 birth of Oswald. You guys have been attempting to criticize John Armstrong for saying that Oswald's birth certificate has never been made public by declaring it never existed. Now you are trying to say it wasn't made public because the law doesn't permit it. Got a USG citation explaining that? John perhaps should have said "Oswald's official birth certificate" has never been made public. What fine quibbling! He's basically right about that, and I think y'all know it.

Here's an official, full Louisiana birth certificate from 1971 (from media.nola.com): Note the information provided by it that was not included in the "birth card" for Lee Harvey Oswald: hospital name, mother's residence and address, father's place of birth, mother's maiden name, mother's place of birth, signature of attendant, dates of signatures, date of registration, date registration filed, time of birth, and probably other things I missed. Lance quotes a source as saying, " As of 1940 twelve percent of births in the state still went unrecorded. This is not to mention the many records that were incomplete." But that also means the 88 percent of births WERE recorded, as Oswald's clearly was, and I'll bet those that weren't tended to be in rural and/or impoverished areas. Oswald's birth in a big city hospital attended by a real physician probably increased the odds dramatically that a full, complete, and accurate birth certificate was completed. Where is it? Again, why can we not see the full, official birth certificate of the purported assassin of a sitting president?

Hi, Lance. Haven't heard from you in a while. If you look at the Louisiana Dept. of Health's own description of the birth card vs the full birth certificate, you can see that things haven't changed much since 1939. What kind of real, full birth certificate doesn't name the hospital a child was born in? C'mon.... Y'all are so busy declaring how crazy and wrong John and I are, you don't take time to examine the simplest facts. That isn't a full birth certificate. None of us are kids here. If you have a copy of your official birth certificate, just take a look at it. (Don't use the computer printed "short form.") Does the full, official certificate name the hospital you were born in? Sure it does. Does it name at least the city your mother and father were born in? I'll bet it does. Does it give the age of your parents at the time of your birth? Maybe. And it probably has more information as well. Louisiana's version of the full certificate is pretty brief, but not as brief as that birth card. Anyway, hope you and your Russian-speaking wife are doing well.

Why were we only given a short-form birth certificate--what Louisiana Dept. of Health currently calls a “birth card” which is not even recognized by all government agencies? Why were we not given the full, official birth certificate of Lee Harvey Oswald? The company that currently handles fulfillment of internet, phone, and fax requests for Louisiana birth certificates is the VitalChek Network. From Vitalchek’s website: Short Form Birth Certificate A short form birth certificate contains almost all of the important information that is on a long form birth certificate except it may not have signatures or detailed parents information on it depending on the state location. It can usually be used for proving citizenship and for proof of identity but it may not always be accepted by every state or for all applications. I skimmed through his WC testimony and didn't see it, nor was it listed on his 11/26/63 letter to Curry (WCE 5052), one of the few clear docs I could find from him. From John Armstrong’s book: Oswald told Mrs. Magee that he spent three years in Russia and was married to a Russian girl who did not speak English. He also mentioned that he was a "Marxist" and tried to explain the term to Mrs. Magee. While Oswald was looking at the apartment his wife got out of the car and joined him. She said "hello" and then looked around the apartment before returning to the car. Mrs. Magee noticed the woman was pregnant and looked like she was very close to having the baby. NOTE: Marina Oswald delivered Audrey Marina Rachel Oswald five days earlier, at 10:41 pm, October 20 , 1963, at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Mrs. Magee's recollection that Oswald's wife was pregnant on October 25 in Baton Rogue is yet an­- other example that a woman was accompanying Lee Oswald as he continued to imper­- sonate Harvey. This may have been the same woman who was seen with Lee Oswald in Sparta, Wisconsin, Jackson (LA), Alice (TX), Freer(TX), at the Furniture Mart, Sal­- vation Army and Hutchison's grocery in Irving (TX), and other locations, posing as Marina. [Harvey and Lee, p. 735] Nearly twenty years ago now, Chris Courtwright wrote an influential short article about the many sightings of a second set of the entire Oswald family (Lee and Marina and their kids) in and around Alice, Texas in early October, 1963. What you describe as a "courtesy" strikes me as witness tampering. There is a new book just out that claims to identify the Marguerite Oswald impostor through 1940 Census records, supposedly a relative of the real Marguerite Claverie . I haven't read it yet but will try to soon. Here's what John Pic really said about his "brother's" appearance--and remember that these two guys lived in the same NYC apartment right around this time. Mr. JENNER - Then right below that is a picture of a young man standing in front of an iron fence, which appears to be probably at a zoo. Do you recognize that? Mr. PIC - Sir, from that picture, I could not recognize that that is Lee Harvey Oswald. Mr. JENNER - That young fellow is shown there, he doesn't look like you recall Lee looked in 1952 and 1953 when you saw him in New York City? Mr. PIC - No, sir. Warren Commission attorney Albert Jenner questioned Pic and showed him a photograph of Oswald handing out FPCC literature: Mr. Jenner: "There is a picture of a young man handing out a leaflet, and another man to the left of him who is reaching out for it. Do you recognize the young man handing out the leaflet?" Mr. Pic: "No, sir; I would be unable to recognize him." Mr. Jenner: "As to whether he was your brother?" Mr. Pic: "That is correct." Late in his testimony, Pic said: Mr. PIC - Well, sir; the Lee Harvey Oswald I met in November of 1962 was not the Lee Harvey Oswald I had known 10 years previous. This person struck me as someone with a chip on his shoulder, who had these purposes I mentioned, to do something about. You will probably argue that he is speaking metaphorically, but there are clear indications throughout Pic's testimony that he doesn't believe he is seeing images of his own half-brother. In many other cases, he does recognize his brother from the photographs he was shown, but the two pictures shown above are clearly of HARVEY Oswald, who was unrelated to John Pic.

John Pic was the guy who testified that he didn’t recognize the picture of Harvey Oswald at the Bronx Zoo, even though he was supposedly his half-brother and they were supposedly lived together in Pic’s apartment on 92nd St. in NYC. Pic identified all the pictures he was shown of LEE Oswald, but neither of the two he was shown of Harvey. And the WC lawyers didn’t even dare to ask him why. The impostor posing as “Marguerite Oswald” in NYC was really just a caretaker for Harvey. This woman continuously got details wrong about her and her so-called family’s life, even during her time in NYC. While Harvey Oswald was in the Youth House, John Carro interviewed the short, heavy-set Marguerite Oswald impostor. This "Marguerite" told Carro that Oswald's father died at age 45, when in fact he died at age 42. She said that she and her husband were married for the first time on July 19, 1929, when in fact Marguerite Claverie and Robert E. Lee Oswald were married on July 15, 1933 and it was the second marriage for both. This "Marguerite Oswald" impostor told Carro that their family owned a home in Corning, Texas, but there was never a city in Texas with the name "Corning." She gave an incorrect date for Oswald's birthday, and then mistakenly identified her sister as Lillian Siguorette, when in fact her sister's name was Lillian Murrett. This impostor told Carro that her son was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church, but LEE Oswald was baptized at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Orleans. These are just a few of the errors made by the "Marguerite Oswald" impostor during her interview with John Carro, but she made many, many more errors as we shall see. Nothing in those quotes suggests this procedure could not have been performed on an older child. Louise Robertson, a housekeeper employed by “Mrs. Oswald” in the summer of 1953, said “Mrs. Oswald” told her that she brought her son to New York so he could have mental tests at Jacobi Hospital. She must have gotten the name of the hospital wrong, Jacobi apparently opened several years later, but this certainly could have described the opportunity for the procedure to have been done.

Nah.... Assuming that what you say is accurate, the description that an "18-year-old defect" was as "expected" was probably just based on the medical history of the American Oswald and the fact that the mastoidectomy was performed when he was 6 years old. By pulling a decomposing skull out of a grave years later and examining the defect, I doubt these guys could know that it wasn't performed on a ten- or 11- or 12-year-old originally.

Jeremy, The chutzpah of anyone who would inform us that an anonymous call was central to a book—without actually reading the book—is stunning! I would be embarrassed to make that admission, but no doubt you are not. The only significance of that call is the possible suggestion that Lee HARVEY Oswald was originally from Hungary. Contrary to what you suggest, the caller didn’t even say Oswald or his family spoke Russian. Where on earth did you get that? Your position, apparently, is that the one and only “Lee Harvey Oswald” taught himself to read and write Russian by reading magazines and newspapers while he was serving in the Marine Corps. Is that correct? Sheesh! Then he refined his Russian sufficiently during a two and a half year stint in Minsk working full time and taking no language lessons to read and discuss—in Russian—Russian-language literature. Good luck with that line of reasoning! On May 1, 1953, Lee HARVEY Oswald was examined by Youth House psychiatrist Renatus Hargtogs. Hartogs, in his book, described Oswald as “ a slender, dark-haired boy with a pale, haunted face....I remember thinking how slight he seemed for his 13 years. He had an underfed look, reminiscent of the starved children I had seen in concentration camps." We think Harvey Oswald was probably a Russian-speaking World War II orphan brought to the U.S. by American intel in a long-term program to send a spy with an American birth certificate to the U.S.S.R. You think our CIA Bad Boys weren’t bad enough to do something like that? This is the same era that they were dosing hundreds—probably thousands—of unwitting Americans with LSD! As to the handwriting, you can get expert opinions on anything in a legal proceeding, especially if you control the handling of all the evidence. Maybe some of the documents did not have the lineage the USG claimed. Maybe some of the expert opinions were misrepresented. Maybe some experts were carefully coached about U.S. Intel “sources and methods” and their patriotic duty to protect them. Who knows? I do know that if you look at the exhibit of “Oswald’s” signatures on page 243 of Robert Groden’s “The Search for Lee Harvey Oswald,” it is perfectly obvious that not all those signatures are from the same person.

Jeremy, You haven’t actually read the book, have you? Evidence for a Russian-speaking “Oswald” is all over it’s roughly thousand pages, rarely referring to the anonymous phone call. This, we’re officially told, is how “Lee Harvey Oswald” wrote a note to Marina in the U.S.: In the Marine Corps, before even traveling to Moscow, Lee HARVEY Oswald continuously demonstrated his Russian-speaking ability to fellow Marines and to Rosaleen Quinn, the Russian-speaking airline stewardess he dated. In the USMC, he subscribed to Russian newspapers, listened to Russian records, and was nicknamed "Oswaldovich" by fellow Marines at MACS 9 in California. George DeMohrenschildt said “Oswald” preferred to speak in the Russian language and said, "Lee read his Russian books whenever he could and his friends kept providing him with new supplies of books and magazines." [HSCA XII, p. 134] DeMohrenschildt said he often discussed classical Russian literature with Oswald in the Russian language. With any effort at all, you could find lots of other references in Harvey and Lee to Lee HARVEY Oswald’s Russian-speaking abilitities.

Experts can only serve the court, and the HSCA became a shill for our Central Intelligence Agency soon after it was founded. When the HSCA was formed in September 1976, it’s chief counsel was Richard A Sprague. Sprague got in trouble immediately for asking questions such as the following to his first witness (emphasis is mine): Mr. Trafficante, have you at any time been an employee, a contract employee, or in any manner been in the service of the Central Intelligence Agency, or any other agency of the Federal Government of the United States? Mr. Trafficante, prior to November 22, 1963, did you have information that President Kennedy was going to be assassinated? Mr. Trafficante, prior to November 22, 1963, did you advise other people of the assassination of President Kennedy? Mr. Trafficante, prior to November 22, 1963, did you know Jack Ruby? Mr. Trafficante, have you ever met with representatives of the Central Intelligence Agency to discuss the assassination of various world leaders, including Fidel Castro? Mr. Trafficante, is any agency of the U.S. Government giving you any immunity with regard to any plans to assassinate any world leaders? Mr. Trafficante, did you ever discuss with any individual plans to assassinate President Kennedy prior to his assassination? Mr. Trafficante, while you were in prison in Cuba, were you visited by Jack Ruby? Mr. Trafficante, as a result of your appearance here today, have you been threatened by anyone, any group or agency? Has your life been threatened in any way? Mr. Trafficante, have you been contacted by any agency in the executive branch, say the CIA or FBI, in connection with your possible testimony before or after you received formal subpoena to appear before this committee?" These sorts of questions didn’t sit well with HSCA chairman Henry Gonzales (D-Texas), who soon tried, but failed, to fire chief counsel Sprague. But both men were about to get crushed by The System. Atty. Sprague soon found that his franking privileges had been revoked. Whatever personal communications he wished to have on behalf of the HSCA would have to be paid for by him personally. Nice, eh? By 1977, when the HSCA hearings began in earnest, both Sprague and Gonzales had been ousted. CIA-friendly Louis Stokes (D-Texas) and new chief counsel G. Robert Blakey (a Mafia expert) were now in charge. The coup was complete, and the Central Intelligence Agency had dodged a high-powered bullet! The CIA’s “Oswald Project” would not be exposed by the HSCA. Relatively recently, Richard Sprague said that if he had it to do over again, he "would begin his investigation of the Kennedy assassination by probing 'Oswald's ties to the Central Intelligence Agency.'" But, of course, he'll never get that chance.
