  1. What?! Ty gets $2000! And I haven't even gotten $600! That isn't fair!!!! Let's overthrow this piece of sh-t country! I think I'm starting to see through a lot of things now! Just look at Faucci! Just plotting behind the scenes! If he had such an easy time getting rid of President Trump! Just imagine how easy it will be getting rid of Sleepy Joe! Of course he's probably in on it too! There's just something indecent about him.And when I get this kind of creepy feeling about someone. I'm always right! If that isn't a tell! Dude doesn't even know how to pray! I first learned to do that when I was very little! If this whole thing isn't a hoax, Why is he touching his face?! You have to get up pretty early n the morning to fool me!l
  2. Dennis said: Let us be careful not to infringe on forum policies?? Geesh Dennis, why would you assume Cliff and I are in any position to talk about your sexuality? If you read carefully at all the context. Cliff inferred unlike Wheeler, you were a closet right winger. I had another such incident recently of Chris completely not listening to what I posted and commenting. You guys got to take a deep breathe and actually listen to what others are saying, before responding. It was all right there, in Cliff's response and my answer, if you weren't following it earlier.. Dennis said'---The general "plan" is well known and talked about openly, its overtly called the great reset. The political reaction to covid has been designed to assist that plan. Since you put quotes on "plan". So this is a plandemic? Dennis? But back to Faucci , I think I might have the drift, he's an integral part of this with Bill Gates and maybe George Soros? ****** Yeah Cliff, I caught the Trump tell. That's why I also mentioned the" Sleepy Joe". Straight from Trump's mouth!
  3. Cliff, I didn't address honesty here. If your point is that Dennis is in the closet, I may suspect you're right, but I'm not going to speculate. Re: Wheeler, I've seen it many times here with numerous people. You're left with the same situation you are sometimes with Trump, Is he a l--- or delusional, as result in this case, of a willingness to believe anything? I think probably both. You're right, Wheeler is honest about being a right winger, but so are others here. But he's not honest about defending the assertions he makes. ( Like for example, Hunter Biden, molesting his very young niece) Nor does he feel any responsibility to be.
  4. Of course you Dennis, along with Wheeler are by far the most naive, gullible posters here. You actually entertained the idea that the Democrats could rig the election by over 7 million votes, and yet vote themselves out of state legislatures and not even take the Senate! If the Democrats could do such a thing, than this definitely is not a Representative Democracy and there should be a revolution. But why are the Trumpies reaction so tepid? Where are the Trumpie resistance? All they do is bloviate in places on Facebook, like you've done in this post. Right down to the "Sleepy Joe". If deep down inside people really believed someone had stolen a US presidential election through a vast conspiracy, there would rioting, actual insurrection and violence. Maybe even civil war. Most people would call them "cowards". I'm not sure I agree. The reason you don’t see large scale disruptions and civil unrest is because they don’t actually believe it, they just want Trump to be declared winner! Besides how they can walk back everything they've said with their Facebook or peer group? **** So Dennis, I've heard all knowing comments from both you and Chris about Faucci being part of the vast biopharma conspiracy that I assume you read somewhere online. Since you are in the vanguard of modern day conspiracy theories, how about enlightening us? Specifically, What conspiracy dirt do you have on Faucci?.
  5. Right on Doug! And along that line, a present day illustration.
  6. Whew! that was quite a marathon with Santa, Kathy! That must take a lot of energy to do that every year! But then, he does it out of the joy in his heart, which must make it easier! But It's good for everyday people like us to just see all the time, effort and travel that's involved. Thank God I got all my Christmas shopping done early! Ho ho! heh heh! Mary +mas! Don't forget Mom!
  7. I agree that we should get the most we can get through Trump or anybody. Andrew said:" Pelosi’s not going to do anything." That's not really true. Pelosi can't do it alone. Any bill has to go through the Senate and Mac Connell. .My gripe with Pelosi is that she should have settled at !.9 trillion in October, and I said it at the time. Instead she held out, I assume for you, Andrew and others, who would say she sold you out. And that was a mistake. But she really first proposed the most generous package yet. I just found it and Pelosi's first proposal was back in late March for 2.5 trillion. Everybody, retired and unemployed gets $1500, families up to $7500, and expand unemployment insurance $600 a week. 500 billion in loans to small business, (I don't see a mention of corporate bailouts, perhaps she knew the Repubs would add that in) ,150 billion to hospitals and public health centers, 60 billion to schools and universities, 30 billion to states for school funding. She was painted by the Republicans as being incredibly liberal and of course she couldn't get it because that's how the system works..
  8. Andrew wrote: Members 466 posts Gender:Not Telling Posted 3 hours ago I wrote this editorial in my paper Friday urging Trump to do the very thing he did. President Trump’s instincts are correct and he should follow them Word Friday morning was that Congress was near a deal on approving a new stimulus package before heading home for the holidays. The deal stinks and it’s a testament to the dysfunction that is the United States Congress that this deal — that gives individuals a paltry $600 and a minor temporary bump in unemployment benefits along with some aid to small business and money for vaccine distribution — is the best that our elected representatives can come up. This at a time when the economic recovery has stalled and signs are emerging that it’s actually getting worse. Weekly unemployment claims are back up around 1 million (The all-time record was around 600,000 prior to the pandemic); it was announced this week that holiday retail sales in November — at a time most retailers depend on to make or break their year — were in the toilet; and a new analysis from researchers at the University of Chicago and University of Notre Dame estimates that nearly 8 million Americans have fallen into poverty since June — the biggest single-year spike in at least 60 years. Millions are already behind on their rent or mortgage payments and 1 in 6 adults who live with children said their households lacked sufficient food in the past week. The scale of the economic devastation the United States is suffering is staggering. The stimulus bill before Congress might help people for a few days, a few weeks at most. What’s more, in exchange for getting even the tiny amount of money directly to people, negotiators had to abandon aid to state and local governments in the proposed bill. Economists are predicting that most states and local governments will be in dire straits soon, if they aren’t already, due to high unemployment and declining retail sales and the resulting loss of sales and income tax revenue. This means teachers, firefighters, police officers, public health employees and others we depend on to keep society functioning properly, will have their jobs threatened without local tax increases or severe service cuts enacted. During the congressional negotiations, strange political bedfellows have emerged — Conservative Mo. Sen. Josh Hawley and Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders who have joined forces to urge their colleagues to get Americans the help they need now. While it’s encouraging to see elected representatives set aside philosophical differences in the face of an emergency, that and $4 will get struggling Americans a cup of coffee. They, and the people of the country, need someone with real power and influence to join in the fight. On Thursday, the Washington Post reported that President Donald Trump was on the verge of intervening in the House and Senate negotiations to lobby for a higher stimulus payment. The Post reported the president thought people needed a minimum of $1,200 and up to $2,000. Alas, his aides talked him out of taking action, apparently, for fear of “blowing up the negotiations.” With his iron grip on the Republican party, President Trump could make this happen, probably without much effort — a mere tweet could do the trick. The president is a politician who lives by his instincts, and those instincts have mostly served him well. In this instance, his instinct told him Americans are suffering and need a lot help. His instincts are correct in this case, too, and he should follow them. The sad part of this for the president is that he been making this case back in October instead of focusing almost entirely on Hunter Biden’s laptop, he likely would have breezed to re-election. With the likely end of his time in office approaching, the president could secure his legacy by following his instincts and doing what he knows is right — getting American citizens, small businesses, and state local governments the money they need now. ********** Andrew, This is well written, and you've diagnosed the problem well. It sounds like you're in a political pickle. It sounds like you're trying to coddle a deep red readership Andrew said:.With his iron grip on the Republican party, President Trump could make this happen, probably without much effort — a mere tweet could do the trick. No,he's a guy desperately trying to hold on to his eroding power. He's already tweeted and it's not happening. My guess it will get back to the Mac Connell getting his way and the check will be $600. I hope I'm wrong. But the only way around that is the Dems making a broader coalition with the Republicans than one Senator from Missouri. Andrew said:The president is a politician who lives by his instincts, and those instincts have mostly served him well. No his instincts have been a disaster for the country.. Andrew said:In this instance, his instinct told him Americans are suffering and need a lot help. His instincts are correct in this case, too, and he should follow them. Hate to clue you Andrew. But Trump is a sociopath who does not care at all about people's suffering. As you yourself pointed out, he hasn't been helping anybody out for the entire pandemic except his buddies.. He could have gotten off this rear end back last summer and advocated a bigger relief bill. It's his populist ploy. He cares about one thing and one thing only, and that is staying in office and saving his neck, that's why he pardoned Manafort, Stone, and Flynn. Andrew said :Frankly, I'd be surprised if the DNC wants the Dems to win Georgia. As it is, they have a built in excuse with "McConnell obstruction" not to do anything, certainly nothing of a progressive bent. If they lose Georgia, they run less risk of angering their corporate masters. Would you tell your readership that? I generally like your cyncicism Andrew, but I think that's a total red crock..The Dems want to control the Senate and kick out Mac Connell very badly. If you're sad because the Democrats aren't progressive enough for you, it's because in this last election they were soundly rejected by everywhere from Ohio across the belt to Iowa, which were the places they were hoping to make gains and I assume is where your readership is from. If you can't make people wake up and vote in their interests. Life's a bitch, ain't it? Since you're sincere about getting aid to the suffering. The best sustained deal you're going to get is from Biden with a Democrat Senate, other wise he may end up being effective as Gerald Ford. Mac Connell will hold the purse strings and Biden will get the blame for not doing enough about the suffering. Again, not a lot of choices, life's a bitch!
  9. If that's a stimulus Dave, It's a stimulus involving Defense spending with a Republican President (Bush) and Republicans controlling both houses (2005). So it's their very typical, skullduggery, an attempt to sacrifice Civil Liberties for National Security. Yet the star of the article is minority Democrat Jane Harmon, who was a very globalist Democrat from New York who I believe still works as pro international trade lobbyist. This is involving an economic stimulus, with the Democrats controlling the House. 1+1 is pretty much 2, Dave. If we don't get a $600 check , it's because Trump vetoed it, in what he started as a frantic search to find some means to ingratiate himself to the public as an added ploy to somehow overthrow the election and keep in office and out of court. ******* Joe said:I sense he (Trump) kept thinking that the huge majority of Americans stressed the most by the Covid crush were lower income people and including blacks and Hispanics. Ethnic groups he knew were not going to vote for him in the majority anyway and not at all with black voters. Yes, he is contemptuous of the working poor, and he was painting the Democrats as "Socialist", as you say "W'.. But despite his base always claiming the polls are rigged. Trump was very much into polls, and that's why he switched. He realized there was no way he was going to win so he knew he had to expand his base. Besides, Joe, it's not just blacks and hispanics, as you have personally attested. As for the contradiction about painting the Democrats as "Socialists,." and then advocating a stimulus, that sort of contradiction Trump can ram down his base's throat in a second, any day of the week, and has done many times before!
  10. Could be Steve, Trump could be saying "Either I get to be a hero, or I'm taking everybody down with me!". You remember in October, it was in reverse. He first said he'd veto any relief bill because he was mad about something. I thought "What politician in October seeking re election, wouldn't choose to do a relief stimulus bill?' Then sure enough, a few days later, he completely reversed himself. Somebody must have told him something.
  11. Here's the political reality. Trump's been so obsessed lately with throwing out the election, that even a grifter like Trump somehow missed the opportunity of bribing his base for more political influence by advocating a $2000 check. This would seem unforgivable for a character like Trump, especially because he reversed himself and did the very same thing 2 months ago in the earlier covid negotiation! Which proves he's so isolated, that there wasn't some aide around that would have told him that was an obvious thing to curry favor with his base, and proves hes too burned out to even remember he did it and learn anything from it!. But for whatever lame, self serving reason in Trump's case, it's obvious $600 isn't going to make near the difference $2000 is. So now Pelosi's is in a last minute attempt to try to take him up on the threatened veto and get the $2000! Despite Jims article.Fact: Every Democrat would vote for at least a $1200 check, and probably a $2000 check including Joe Biden. Why wouldn't he? The more stimulus thrown at the problem, the easier Biden's path is. As far as Biden's apparently aiding the stripped down bill. He obviously, like Pelosi and Schumer wasn't aware that Trump could be an ally because Trump was off in space! What smelled a little fishy in Jim's article was that it stated that there were Republicans that want the $1200 check, while specifically naming no one, which is quite an omission! In this article I found, they talk of one Senator from Missouri. Ok, maybe there are others. This article does have a series of related articles about the covid bill that may be of interest. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/22/trump-demands-congress-raise-second-stimulus-check-from-600-to-2000-under-new-covid-relief-bill.html
  12. Agreed, Dave. everybody's sort of a pawn in their game. Hate to say it, but I did mention at the time that Pelosi should have taken the deal in October. Everybody seemed to give her a pass.
  13. Pretty dystopian Dave, but I get where you're coming from and that could be coming. And no matter how much that stimulus would be, it's not going to be near enough. There's been a lot of damage done. But to bring it down to reality right now: Paul said:They could control the Senate in that case, but they won’t hold together on anything remotely progressive. That's right Paul, but the reality is if the Dems take both Georgia elections. There will be a big Covid relief and stimulus. It's a paradox, but it will be so big, Wall Street will be licking their chops over it. If they don't, there won't be. And there's no guarantee there will be anything!
  14. my take is...That's true Paul, But despite what people say they want in polls, people don't vote in their interests.. The election was a repudiation of the left and progressivism. Then there's this thinking after the 2016 Hilary Bernie debacle that that the DNC is all powerful. But the truth is, the posts in the DNC change all the time. I would have preferred Keith Ellison , but I don't think it mattered. The DNC had preferences, but were willing to accept whoever the winner was. As all the parties do, if it's Barry Goldwater or George Mc Govern or Donald Trump. People had been thinking for 4 long years if they were ready for a Bernie Presidency, and then on Super Tuesday they finally decided "no". Abandoned by his own region, the North East, weak on minority support. Though perfectly serviceable out West.
  15. Yeah, Cliff. the figures were so numbing I could be wrong. But wasn't Pelosi asking for 3+ trillion originally but when the rubber hit the road, it got down to, I believe Pelosi and the Dems were at 2.1 trillion and Mnuchin and the Repubs were at 1.9 trillion? Pelosi obviously overplayed her hand thinking there would be a massive Dem sweep. But if that happened, she could have settled for that in October and do another package in February! But people needed the money then! It still could have been killed by Mac Connell, but at least the ball would have been in Mac Connell's court. But with Mac Connell's willingness to come up with something now, it looks like he would have blinked in October and negotiated something then. Now she's settled for a 900 billion dollar package. Her only hope of not having peaked out would be for the Dems to win both Georgia races.
  16. You're certainly not a connoisseur of writing styles Chris. You assumed I was editorializing for the Government of Panama?? If you look further below, the edict is from MINSA which throughout Latin America is the Ministry of Public Health. The commentary was discharged through the most prevalent TV station in Panama. I'm not sure if it's there's or Minsa's. I'm not sure from your previous comments, Chris, if you're at all concerned about the "pan" or perhaps is it "plandemic"? The U.K. has done as abysmally a sloppy job of battling the pandemic as we have. And now they've detected the most virulent strain, ("variant") apparently first back in September! France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Ireland and Bulgaria all announced restrictions on U.K. travel, Yet many are leaving the U.K. in droves and where are they going? To the U.S., possibly bringing this infection! Chris, you'll be thrilled to know, this is awakening the Trumpian instincts in me. Might be better to ban the Brits, at least for now! But I'm no expert, and actually can admit it.
  17. I didn't write that Chris. Read the whole story. Everyone was pretty well aware in Spring, of projections of successive second or third waves coming back in even stronger force during the flu season, similar to 1918.
  18. We'd always say the Latin Americans are more "dramatic" than we are. Certainly in the U.S. under the current Trump administration,we would never get such a dramatic public health cry that assumes so much responsibility for actions as this in Panama the other day, as they have just employed quarantine measures in a new covid spike, that has resulted in 30 deaths that day or 1/100 of the recent totals in the U.S. per day but in a country of 1/80th the population. The number of infections is increasing in Panama. Yesterday there were almost three thousand cases and almost 30 deaths, really worrying figures. There are no more beds available in hospitals and there is clear evidence that we are in the presence of an imminent collapse. Never before have we been so vulnerable to the pandemic and never before have we acted so irresponsibly, as we have completely forgotten that the virus coexists with us and that it is killing many, including young people. What does it take for us to act sensibly and put aside the smart games ? What would make us react so that we respect the life of our neighbor, complying with the basic biosecurity measures recommended by the health authorities? How many more deaths does it take to take the pandemic seriously? It seems incredible that others have to watch over our own existence since it is clear that the spike in infections only points in one direction: our irresponsibility. This December, which should be a month of joy, will be the worst of the year for coronavirus. There will be nothing to celebrate if we continue to behave as we do. It seems that we urgently need to understand the fatal statistics of this pandemic.
  19. This is nothing new with Mervyn, he's done this before, and he's doing the same with with all his existing threads. If he wanted to make a thread, knowing the Kennedys are held in high esteem here, and say anything foul about the Kennedys for example, or progressives, and defend it , I'd have no problem. But he's so coy about it. He asks broad questions. People in good faith try to answer him, and he ends up dismissing and criticizing their answers and generally ridiculing them, then turns around and ask for research favors. He's really just impossible, but scarcely aware of it, which makes it 10 times worse and he ends up just sucking everybody's energy. It sounds like he'd like to PM with Larry, but I'm sure he'd drive him crazy.
  20. They had good, reliable stats in May telling them that herd immunity would not occur until there were at least 2 million deaths in the U.S. We can talk about the tragic loss of lives in pointless U.S. wars. But this unique. 100 of thousands dead by the President's criminal negligence!
  21. I hope you're right Steve. But if the Dems can't get Mitch Mc Connell out of the way, the Biden Presidency will have as much teeth as the Gerald Ford administration. The Dems earlier were counted out from a sweep. But now the Georgia polls are running neck and neck. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/georgia-senate-polls/
  22. Yes, I don't put much stock in this. But Cory, this film isn't new. I may have it on a hard drive. It was originally made for TV at under an hour with interview segments with Tosh Plumlee, Chauncey Holt and James Files, and the story of first contacting Files... But they've since added video segments from Judith Baker, Daniel Marvin, and curiously Robert Tannenbaum. But honestly, I thought I would have remembered Chauncey Holt claiming himself to be the alleged E.Howard Hunt of the 3 tramps. But maybe I just missed it.
  23. If Jim actually has me on ignore, I didn't know that, and I think its unfortunate. I think he could learn from my post. What kind of response is this? Sandy, outside of the one joke you highlighted. I think my compendium and observations of Jim statements over the years was pretty fair. He's never balanced! Even in this supposed response., Jim still doesn't rate any Presidents, because he hasn't had time to read the "right" authors"?, and then he predictably proceeds in a very unbalanced manner to ridicule those who would defend Obama and continue bashing Obama on foreign policy in Syria where he pulls out his #5 hero on my "Jim's heroes" list, Putin and talks of how Putin bailed out Obama by getting involved in Syria. Again nothing new, an assertion he's made before. Certainly it was regrettable, Obama mentioning the "red line" that Assad better not do with chemical weapons, and then forcing himself in a corner when another chemical outbreak occurs.. But OK, the worst didn't happen. W. said:As for Obama, my main criticism of his presidency-- then and now-- has to do with his willingness to cooperate with the Neocon "War on Terror" in Syria, Libya, and Yemen. He retained Robert Gates in the Pentagon and declined to say, "No," to the CIA and military establishment. I was surprised and disappointed by this. **** Yes, W. We were all hoping for more. Hiring a Bushy Gates was very disappointing for me as well. But Syria became ruined as result of GW's War on Iraq. But who would cite Syria as a major low light of the Obama administration besides Jim.? As W. says, it is rather myopic. But who else would suffer from such myopia? Once again, hate to say it, but Vladimir Putin! W. Honestly I'm sure I never heard Jim ever complementing Obama for his enemies, Netanyahu and the Saudis, as he should have, nor did he castigate Trump for having Netanyahu and the Saudis as his friends, as he should. *** Ok, So I see now in subsequent posts, Jim started actually responding and rating the Presidents. Hmmmm Sort of an idealized past "oldies" guy! Madison was quite a scholar but the Brits did blockade the U.S. and did burn down the White House and the Capitol under his watch! Just to give some balance! But Dolly was a prize!
  24. That's really funny, Dave.!! I expect there will be more of these! This pretty much sums up the Pandemic in America.
