  1. The employee turnover rate in strip joints like Ruby's was laughable.

In a year's time it must have been 3 or 400 percent.

Employees there at the time of the JFKA ... Bill DeMarr, Wally Weston, Curtis Crafard, Jada, Little Lynn, etc. etc. ... all just there for weeks or a couple of months.

Strippers, stage acts, musicians, servers, clean up men, managers.

Seems like if you wanted to work there you just had to stick out a 1 to 2 month wait and something would always open up.

Nancy Hamilton only worked there for 2 to 3 months.

I could easily see Rose Cherami ( Melba Mercades ) getting a quick, short term job there as she claimed.

Like the musician fellow mentioned in GD original post (James Odell Estes?) I believe it is numerically certain that of the hundreds of former short term former employees who worked for Jack Ruby at the Carousel and the Vegas club throughout the years...that many more of them besides this guy had some observations to share about Ruby and characters ( high station and low and police officers and maybe some Mafia types as well ) that visited his club or Ruby personally there, that would be of high suspicion nefarious interest to investigators.

Yet, also like Estes...they would be unwilling to come forward...forever.

Why? Why open themselves up to all the bad things that happened to others who did come forward?

They had themselves and their families to worry about.

It is a certainty that many, many people who ever met and/or interacted with the main JFKA involved characters at one time or another never shared what they knew about them.

In total, now THAT would be a fascinating story to know.

According to Oppedisano, the movie star and singer "were close friends but not lovers."

According to biographer James Kaplan (Frank: The Voice; Sinatra: The Chairman) Sinatra and Monroe were friends with benefits before-during-after the DiMaggio marriage.  When DiMaggio was separated from Monroe and drunkenly wanted to paste the guy he thought was sleeping with her, Sinatra knew where to lead him because he had installed Monroe in that apartment himself.

    Could you expand?

Are you saying Sinatra was doing Monroe before during and after her marriage to Joltin Joe? And DiMaggio wanted to "paste" Sinatra for this?

It is true DiMaggio forbade Sinatra from attending Monroe's funeral...correct?

DiMaggio hating Sinatra for doing his wife would make sense.

This may be of some interest wrt this topic.  At the hotel parking lot in the morning after breakfast in Ft Worth:

“ [Norm] Bradford had found a spectacular location for creating an overview photo. “I went to the top of the Hotel Texas and made a shot [poor choice of words, considering the totality of Bradford’s comment] down on the parking lot across the street from the 14th floor of the Hotel. I’m still wondering why I wasn’t shot off the side of the building at that time. When I got up there and was shooting down, I just happened to glance around, and all I could see on all the roofs of the buildings around were yellow raincoats with people with high-powered rifles. There I was, standing on the 14th floor of the Hotel Texas, and not a soul, it was not protected, and it was not sealed off. I was very surprised.” (Richard Trask, Pictures of the Pain: Photography and the Assassination of President Kennedy, p. 329)

So who was on the roof? There is no documentation anywhere to suggest that the Secret Service requested any such additional security, or that such additional security was ever provided. The only such fact we have is the “Harry Weatherford atop the County Jail” story, and the only person to corroborate Weatherford was, of course, Weatherford. And he wasn’t polite about it at all.

Could they have been a team of assassins? Yeah, I know, far-fetched—but so is a group of people in yellow raincoats with high-powered rifles. There are two critical factors based on what we know from photographer Norm Bradford. The single most critical factor is that there was no such heavily armed guard atop the Hotel Texas.

    Fascinating find BF.

  4. Weitzman's incarceration in a Japanese prison camp during the end of WWII surely would have afflicted him with at least some PTSD.

Perhaps this event led to his mental breakdown condition in his last years?

My son and I interviewed a former U.S. army man for my son's history class project who 55 years earlier had gone through the Bataan Death march as well as years of incarceration in a Japanese prison camp.

    His story was horrific.

Weitzman never had children? Was he married though?

Weitzman mentions Lt. Day working the bolt action of the TXSBD found rifle there on the spot and ejecting a bullet.

I would assume Officer Day had already powdered the rifle looking for prints?

First Weitzman states someone came up to him with a red colored item which the finder thought "may be a piece of a firecracker?"

Then later Weitzman states "he" found this in the street himself? With specifics regarding where and maybe just inches from the far grass area curb?

Weitzman and Boone never mention Roger Craig. He was a fellow sheriff's department officer.

    Craig does mention Weitzman.

Craig doesn't embellish his role in the finding of the rifle on the 6th floor. He gives full credit for this to Weitzman and Boone. He states simply he was about 8 feet from the two officers who did when they did.

I believe that humble recounting reflects well on Craig's credibility.

Interesting. I didn't know anything about Weitzman's mental breakdown and incarceration in an institution.

I will immediately dig into what info I can find on this.

His nervous public confession about making a mistake on the identification of the 6th floor rifle always seemed unsettling to my gut feeling instincts.

This thread belongs on the main JFKA board, because it's mainly about Prouty's critical role in exposing the truth about JFK's assassination, the CIA, and Vietnam.

If someone like Michael Griffith t-r-o-l-l-s a JFKA thread by deflecting to extraneous subjects (Scientology, etc.) should the JFKA thread be banished to a board that no one visits?

Let's recall that, other than Griffith's t-r-o-l-l posts, everything on this thread came from original JFKA board posts!

I agree this thread should be back on the main forum one.

  7. Speaking of vaccines.

I remember the upper arm polio pin pricking one I had in the 1950's. Wasn't there a sugar cube one back then as well?

I feel uncomfortable with mandatory vaccination. My kids were forced to get many.

Yet, a friend of ours daughter came from Sweden to attend Santa Barbara Jr. College 10 to 15 years ago.

She hadn't been vaccinated. She contracted meningitis not long after she arrived. The best doctors in Southern Calif. barely kept her from dying.

However, she lost both arms and one lower leg.

My kids had to get the meningitis vaccine before they could attend college.

  8. Watch out for any 3rd party run in 2024.

A well financed ( big money ) campaign could sway this presidential election either way.

Ross Perot's 1992 run gave the election to Clinton.

I sense a serious 3rd party run this next year.

I think the Democrats would be the more susceptible party if this occurs.

The Republican party both on the national and state levels has taken on an all out war mentality in regards to keeping and regaining political power the last 20 years.

Pushing every constitutional law boundary to the limit and even beyond, daring the Democrats to stand up to them.

Politically we actually have been in a "Civil War" in this sense the last 30 years imo.

The huge violent mob injury and even death causing attack on our Capital Building while our entire Congress was held hostage terrified and traumatized inside on January 6th, 2021 was a monumentally important and super dangerous dynamic spill over of our political Civil War into an actual physical military battle assault manifestation one.

Seems in too many ways we Americans are numbing ourselves to the dangers of mass violence against each other.

The incredibly violent and injurious Jan 6th seditious coup Capital Building assault ...was "OKAY" in the minds of tens of millions of Americans?

Wonder which side of this precarious national crisis any 3rd party run campaign would be on.

Since our new forum member Michael Griffin has ignored my advice about studying the Education Forum archival discussions about Col. L. Fletcher Prouty and his long-time USAF colleague, General Ed Lansdale, I am taking the unusual step of presenting some of the exemplary EF archival material about Prouty to Griffin, and others, on the subject.

Firstly, I have been reviewing the EF archives, and I have discovered that the best source of accurate information about Fletcher Prouty in the archives is Greg Burnham, a long-time member of the forum, who knew Fletcher Prouty, personally, and has extensive knowledge about Prouty's life and work.

For starters, here is Mr. Burnham's March 31, 2015 biographical post about the man CIA propagandists have been referring to for decades as a "crackpot."

It's worth reading, along with Prouty's lengthy letter to his former boss, General Victor Krulak, on the subject of Ed Lansdale.  (Up Next)

    Prouty a "crackpot?"

    Ha!

What an incredible life of high position responsibility and duty achievement.

    Decades of such.

True crackpots can barely function in society.

Dulles and Lansdale were close for decades as well.

Wonder what Lansdale felt about JFK firing Dulles and Cabell?

Was Elena Hall an attractive woman?

Sounds like many of the White Russians were horney.

We all know George DeMohrenschildts was a serial rogue. Peter Gregory seemed smitten with Marina as were others.

  11. Prouty was initially very concerned with what he saw as extraordinary presidential visit security failures with JFK's Dallas trip.

    On a military level.

According to Prouty the army involvement should have been much higher than it was.

Now, either Prouty's proposition of that failure was true...or it wasn't.

In Prouty's experience that security breach was so obvious and nonsensical considering the obvious JFK hostility threat level in perhaps the hub of JFK's most hating groups of great wealth that resided there.

As well as one for JFK hate centered around race? KKK level hate.

Where "JFK Wanted For Treason" flyers and newspaper ads were on display there right at the time of JFK's presence.

Home to JFK hating extremists like General Ed Walker and JFK Depletion Allowance cut back furious oil barons.

Truly, 1963 Dallas, Texas was clearly and simply one hell of a dangerous place for JFK to visit, let alone drive through in an open topped limo with hundreds of high floor building open windows all around.'

    Screaming for added military security.

Jackie Kennedy SS guard Clint Hill always said the reason his agency never checked open windows above JFK's motorcade was simply a lack of resources to do so. Obviously, the Dallas PD and Sheriff's department as well as the FBI felt high rise open window and roof top security for JFK's open roof top limo was not their job as well.

Might have Army intelligence provided that security duty?

The JFK truth mission effort by thousands of ordinary citizens versus big media giants and our own government has uncovered and revealed many huge truths about nefarious doings by powerful individuals and power groups within our own government since JFK.

Truths we would never have known about had it not been for the JFKA digging and researching effort.

We have proof of those doings.

Secret high importance actions that often crossed Constitutional boundaries and laws.

Beyond the JFK, RFK and MLK killings.

We all know such truths now.

Heck, Watergate criminal actions wiped out an "entire executive leadership branch" with criminal convictions and prison sentences for 25!

And Watergate has been referenced as just the "tip of the iceberg" regards other criminal political doings?

So, with this reality of high level corruption and secret doings since JFK, we are to look at Prouty's claims of similar doings by secret groups as "loony?"

America since JFK has been rocked with proven constitution abusing secret actions time and time again. Corruption all the way to our highest rungs of government office. Include secret agency policy abuses as well.

Prouty's claims don't deserve to be summarily dismissed as nutty, based on these realities imo.

    • According to the Curtis Crafard ( aka Craford) background information shared in the link I provided above, Crafard is an incredibly suspect actor in the whole Jack Ruby/Oswald affair.
    • Like the interview guest Marc Groubert suggests, Crafard had the 2nd longest WC interview after Ruth Paine. 2nd longest?
    • Why would the WC spend so much time on a toothless hobo traveling type carni charactor who was just a club cleanup and dog feeding and occasional errand runner for 2 months for Jack Ruby?
    • So much of what Crafard shared to the WC was laughably suspicious.
    • He takes off from his Carousel Club job spontaneously to travel over 1,000 miles hitchhiking in the Mid-West Northern cold of late November with one bag and a nap sack, not even a heavy warm jacket?
    • And with just $7 in his pocket?
    • A journey that took several days and many rides, some of which were only 20 to 30 miles in distance?
    • He is left out at night in some instances and walks up to 10 miles or more in the dark and somehow still gets rides?
    • His few meals 100's of miles apart each cost him $1.50 cents. He gave that exact same cost 3 times when the WC Commission asked him what he spent on them
    • Crafard seemed to remember the make of cars which he rode in remarkably well.
    • Chevy, Ford, etc.
    • One can only guess why Crafard wasn't a sleep deprived zombie by the end of his cold weather and miles of walking journey.
    • Supposedly he would doze off during his long mileage term car rides?
    • Obviously the WC felt his spontaneous job quitting and light jacket, $7 carrying hitchhiking adventure to the Canadien border in freezing late November Mid-West weather was a farce.
    •
  12. So, Prouty only showed himself as a crackpot "after" a long and distinguished rank of colonel officer level military career which had him placed in highest importance positions such as liaison between USAF and CIA?

This "merely a pilot" who could personally call up former Marine Corp senior general Victor "Brute" Krulak and other highest rank military and intelligence agency officers wasn't noticed as a loon by these people during his 20+ years long active duty career?

General Edwin Walker was showing his loony "crack pot" side ( even in his personal life ) "during" his active duty military career. Afterwards, it became full blown.

My sense is that Prouty was effected by the JFKA to a degree that he felt it was of a higher duty to expose what he believed was some type of nefarious collusion involved in the affair.

Yes, Prouty speculated often about sinister groups being involved in hidden agenda nefarious events even beyond the JFKA. To the point of suggesting these scenarios without being able to provide evidential proof that was beyond doubt.

Why do people try to label Prouty as some "crack pot" and yet only applying this after and separate from his distinguished high responsibility active duty military career?

General Curtis LeMay's promotion of an insane policy of actually risking a nuclear war to achieve America's power dominance was as worthy of the label "nut job" or "crack pot" as anything Prouty may have proposed.

LBJ's corruption reached "nut job" levels. Nixon's entire 25 member staff went to prison and he only escaped prison himself because of a corrupt "pardon" deal pulled off by his blindly loyal buddy Jerry Ford. In his last White House days ( drinking and talking to White House paintings) Nixon was truly a "nut job."

Whatever Prouty is labeled...he was never a totally corrupted crook.

He was a decent honest man in that regards.

As for Lansdale's whereabouts on 11/22/63, why do you ask when we know that Lansdale liked and admired JFK and grieved over his death, when we know that Lansdale opposed--yes, opposed--sending large numbers of American troops to South Vietnam, etc., etc.? Anyway, Lansdale was probably at his home in DC. He had just retired from the Air Force 21 days earlier.

Most highest ranking people in our military who have had command roles in our most important military events from WWII through Vietnam have written about them and/or themselves in books or memoirs.

    Lansdale never did?

For those that did and were still in high positions or recently retired from them on 11,22,1963 most would have mentioned the nation and entire world shaking greatest importance crime in our history - the JFKA.

Most commonly asked question to these persons would be...where were you when you heard of the JFKA?

Lansdale never once stated his answer to this question to anyone in any way?

For those who want to promote Lansdale's liking and admiration for JFK ... I ask why this question was never put to Lansdale?

    E. Howard Hunt lied about his where abouts on 11,22,1963.

He stated he had lunch at a DC Chinese restaurant that day.

Even his own children could not validate that story.

  14. Who was Curtis Laverne ( Larry ) Crafard ( aka Craford. )

WebJan 25, 2023 · Curtis Laverne "Larry" Craford was an important witness to Jack Ruby's activities prior to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

  15. I'm not knowledgeable in the BYP area of study.

Just throwing out some layman questions as I look at the photos posted here.

Could someone give their take on the finger discrepancies of Oswald as shown in the main photo?

It is so easy to see how the fingers on Oswald's right hand seem clearly different that his fingers on his left hand.

    Length, shape.

Oswald's fingers on his right hand seem shorter and thicker than his left hand fingers. Left hand fingers longer and more boney.

The ends of the fingers on his right hand seem square edged blocked or cropped off. Kind of like the tips were cut off.

Oswald's middle finger of his right hand looks to be the same length of the ring finger next to it.

On Oswald's left hand however, the fingers seem longer and they looked tapered and thinner at their ends. And the middle finger on Oswald's left hand is clearly longer than the index and ring fingers next to it.

Is this a light and/or shadow anomaly?

Maybe Oswald's right hand is getting more direct sunlight than his left hand?

Whatever, the finger differences between Oswald's left hand versus his right hand are clear...and weird.

  16. Carousel Club janitor/roustabout Larry Crafard is a very important key witness regards his boss Jack Ruby's whereabouts the afternoon of the JFKA.

Crafard lived at the Carousel Club.

Slept in former feature stripper Jada's old dressing room.

Crafard lived and worked at the Carousel for approximately two months, right up until the day after JFK was killed.

At which time he decided to pull $5 from the Carousel Club till, and with another $2 cash in his pocket, simply packed a bag, left the Carousel Club key with the adjoining garage attendant and hit the road out of town hitchhiking.

His destination was his sister's home in Michigan.

Crafard didn't give his distraught boss Jack Ruby any notice. Didn't call him. Didn't leave a note.

Crafard was of course at the Carousel Club the entire day of 11,22,1963. He provided the Warren Commission with a timeline for Ruby's returning to the Carousel Club the afternoon of 11,22,1963.

If you read his testimony Crafard doesn't give an absolutely sure recounting of the exact time Ruby came to the club.

In his first response to his WC questioners about the time of Ruby's arrival Crafard says maybe around 2 or 2:30 pm?

Later that time frame is again not confidently held on to. A possible time of 3:00 PM is even mentioned.

Whatever Ruby's arrival time back at the Carousel...2:30 to 3:00 PM on the day of the assassination, that leaves plenty of time for Ruby to have been present at Parkland Hospital at the time Seth Kantor stated he saw Ruby there and engaged him in brief conversation.

Kantor mentions a Ruby meet up at Parkland hospital time frame as between 1:30 and possibly slightly later?

That leaves plenty of unaccounted for time between Kantor's meet up time line and Crafard telling the WC of a 2:30 PM or later arrival of Ruby back to the Carousel.

Crafard's WC testimony is really interesting to me. Partly because it seemed too often vague and yet purposely so imo.

I am going to reread Crafard's WC testimony several times and actually start a thread about it and him.

He spent so much time right there in the Carousel Club and interacting with Ruby every day for two months.

He saw and heard so many things in his time there, more than any other employee for sure.

I felt he was holding back a lot of information from the WC about everything he observed in his two months living 24/7 right inside the Carousel Club and was too defensive of Ruby, downplaying things like Ruby's temper and dust ups with rowdy customers like never seeing him hit any of them?

This downplaying of Ruby's violent actions from time to time contradicts the testimony of others including the strippers who worked at the CC.

Crafard also downplayed any notion of the Dallas police ever drinking anything but coffee and cokes and 7 UP at any time upon their stopping in at the Carousel while he worked there.

I think Crafard's main goal in his WC testimony was to protect himself from blurting out anything that may have put him in any jeopardy, which would explain his downplaying many things he observed in his live-in residency time at Ruby's Club.

He also says things that too often seem to contradict.

I'll go into such in a later thread specific to Crafard's WC testimony.

He's a real character however. Perfectly fitting in the crazy mix of other Carousel Club employees and Jack Ruby himself.

  17. Did Larry Crafard hitch hike out of town ( with just 7 dollars in his pocket ) before his boss blew Oswald's guts out?  Or after?

I see now it was the day before.

He gave Ruby no notice at all.

Didn't feel he owed Ruby any notice. Strange.

Especially when he knew his boss was under extreme emotional stress.

Walking off his job and hitting the highway with just 7 dollars in his pocket?

Only excuse he gave the WC was that he was concerned because his sister in Michigan hadn't responded to one of his letters as timely as she normally did.

  18. What person who hates America and is trying to find any way he can to leave it and live in countries that also hate America...proudly wears his American Marine Corps service ring, even while supposedly shooting at JFK and plugging a police officer three times in the body, and then sadistically adding on an unnecessary cold blooded "coup de grace" fourth shot into the head?

Surprised none of the press ever asked Oswald about his rings. Especially his Marine Corps service one. And maybe also his shiny silver wrist bracelet? What was the bracelet representing?

Wearing loving oath and comradery honoring rings ( versus simple vanity jewelry ones ) means something in that person's mind set and values a little more sentimentally decent one would think ... imo anyways.

  19. 1 hour ago, Pamela Brown said:

I have to wonder if he clued her in about a possible "Jewish Mafia" connection to events surrounding the assassination and its cover-up...

Whatever Ruby shared with Kilgallen, soon enough she told her hairdresser/confidant she had to make a trip to New Orleans which inspired enough fear in her she mentioned arming herself during it.

I believe Ruby more probably mentioned the Mafia and even the powerful Godfather Carlos Marcello to her.

And remember also that Ruby ended up with famed attorney Melvin Belli as his main legal counsel. His attorney through his trial.

You do know that Belli was considered ( or at least rumored) by many to be a Mafia connected attorney don't you?

I personally believe that connection meant a lot more to the Ruby story than is generally reported.
