  1. Update. So, I'm about halfway into John Marks' 1979 book, The Search For the Manchurian Candidate. Marks wrote the book, after the Church Committee investigations, about some MK-ULTRA files that had escaped the Richard Helms shredder in 1973. But his information about MK-ULTRA was incomplete. Marks discussed Estabrooks' belief (in the 1940s and 50s) that a Manchurian candidate could be hypnotically programmed, but claims that the OSS (and, later, the CIA) did not take Estabrooks' theories seriously. I'm skeptical, especially since Marks was relying on limited (and redacted) documents and CIA-affiliated testimony. Here's the thing. Dr. Daniel Brown clearly established in the Sirhan case that programming a Manchurian candidate was possible and had, in fact, happened in 1968. We don't know all of the details, but Dr. William Joseph Bryan and Dr. Jolyon West were possible suspects in the programming of Sirhan, and both psychiatrists were affiliated with the U.S. military and/or CIA. IMO, it is also revealing that Brown was systematically harassed during (and after) his investigation of Sirhan by high level U.S. government officials, including people in the IRS (U.S. Treasury) and, presumably, the FAA. Brown, obviously, discovered something that people in the U.S. government didn't want the public to know about. (When I heard Brown talking about this harassment in Shane O'Sullivan's documentary, it reminded me of Fletcher Prouty's observations in The Secret Team about government officials from various departments, including Treasury, secretly working for, and reporting to, the CIA.)
  2. I think Jeff might be the trucker who was wearing that "Humungus" mask in Ottawa last weekend. 🤥 (He moonlights as a freelance writer for Russia Today.)
  3. Matt, Jordan is a major sociopath, and a major Trump enabler in the House. You probably saw the recent story about Jordan's 10 minute phone call with Trump on January 6th, which he allegedly couldn't remember-- just as he couldn't remember any sexual abuse in the gym at Ohio State... 🤥
  4. Chris, Dr. Daniel Brown is a top notch forensic psychologist, and his work on the Sirhan case is extremely impressive. I didn't know about his discovery of Sirhan's "automatic" Morse Code transcriptions! (I never met Brown when I was a medical student at Harvard back in the day, probably because there are several different hospital-based psychiatry departments affiliated with HMS.) Obviously, Sirhan's parole board hasn't understood, or wanted to understand, the significance of Brown's discoveries. I had read about Brown's discovery of Sirhan's "range mode" hypnotic programming a few years ago, but I had never watched Shane O'Sullivan's terrific "Manchurian Candidate" film until today. Thanks for posting this. I noticed in the film that Brown seemed quite familiar with the history of U.S. military/intel hypnosis ops, beginning in the 1940s, and with Dr. George Estabrooks' theories about the potential for hypnotic programming of assassins (even mentioning Estabrooks by name at the 47:00 minute mark.) It was also disturbing to hear about Brown's systematic harassment by the U.S. government. As for the story of Condon's novel and the film of The Manchurian Candidate, I need to do some remedial reading. I just received a mail order copy of John Marks' 1978 book, The Search for the Manchurian Candidate, which I intend to read later this week.
  5. Like Gym Jordan, for instance? 🤥 Congressman echoes Trump’s claim that Clinton aides deserved to die Jim Jordan’s statement on Fox News is another example of violent rhetoric entering the Republican mainstream, analysts say https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/feb/14/us-congressman-jim-jordan-echoes-trump-clinton-aides-executed February 14, 2022
  6. It would be interesting to compile a list of books about MIC and CIA black ops-- including the Kennedy assassinations-- that have been suppressed and/or disappeared since 1947.
  7. Chris, As I mentioned above, Estabrooks had a very scholarly grasp of the 19th and early 20th century scientific literature on hypnosis, going back to the seminal work of Bernheim, and the landmark observations of MPD by Morton Prince at Harvard. Estabrooks received a Ph.D. in psychology from Harvard, and was also a Rhodes scholar. (He studied with a prominent British psychologist at Oxford whose name escapes me at the moment.) His 1943 textbook, Hypnosis, is impressively erudite, and also presents detailed clinical cases. Among Estabrooks' many observations in the textbook are his descriptions of Hitler's apparent use of stage hypnosis techniques. (I read elsewhere that Hitler had actually been coached by a well known stage hypnotist in Germany.) He also described his Jones A/Jones B hypnosis espionage protocol, (above) and his "Manchurian candidate" protocol-- in 1943! My hunch is that the U.S. military (and, later, the CIA) didn't want publicity for Estabrooks' writings and methods, for the same reason that the later film, The Manchurian Candidate, was banned in the U.S.
  8. Chris, This is the Estabrooks' hypnosis protocol I've been writing about here in relation to Lee Harvey Oswald during the past week. I've been wondering if Angleton possibly consulted with Estabrooks for help with his false defector program. Estabrooks, allegedly, pitched his theories to the U.S. War Department during WWII, and was warmly welcomed.
  9. Bob, Interesting scenario. According to John Newman, Oswald had a remarkably detailed fund of knowledge about the U2 program-- including details about altitude, tracking, and even off-the-record surveillance of China from the Philippines. I wonder if any of the Oswald-ologists on the forum have an opinion about whether Oswald's defection played a significant role in the downing of Gary Powers and his U2 by the USSR.
  10. Amen, at least in the case of the RNC and current Trump-enabling Republicans. Conversely, Republicans during the Watergate scandal did hold Nixon accountable-- quite a contrast with the current GOP.
  11. Ron, The reason I mentioned Estabrooks in relation to the Oswald case is because of Estabrooks' rather striking description in 1943 of his professed ability to induce a pro-communist alter personality in a suitable Marine, for the purpose of spying on communist organizations and/or countries. (He also described a potential Manchurian candidate protocol.) But, if it happened in Oswald's false defector case, my hunch is that Angleton would have hidden any evidence.
  12. The hypothesis may be impossible to test, in the absence of CIA records. If Oswald had been an Estabrooks' protocol Jones A/Jones B subject, how could we know, if Helms destroyed the top secret MK-ULTRA records in 1973? John Newman points out in Oswald and the CIA that there were, apparently, no known CIA files on Oswald prior to his defection in 1959-- and a 201 wasn't opened until December of 1960.
  13. Bingo, Sandy. There is no meaningful equivalence between Trump's very serious crimes against the United States -- treason, sedition, and serial obstruction of justice--and the GOP-fabricated Lewinsky and Benghazi "scandals.". None. And the Durham investigation is a complete joke-- a smoke screen to deflect attention from Trump's status as a compromised asset/puppet of Putin.
  14. Sandy, I probably know less about Oswald than most of the members here on the forum. What piqued my interest in Oswald's history recently was reading Dr. George Estabrook's 1943 commentaries about the potential applications of hypnosis to warfare and espionage. One protocol that he described involved establishing an amnestic pro-communist alter personality in a Marine, which could be used to infiltrate and spy on communist organizations and/or Soviet bloc countries. His WWII era case of Marine Lieutenant "Jones" sounded suspiciously like what we later observed in the case of Oswald, the false defector Marine who later posed as an enthusiastic communist member of the FPCC, Socialist Worker's Party, etc. Estabrooks ideas were, apparently, warmly welcomed by the U.S. War Department during WWII.
  15. Sandy, I'm currently re-reading John Newman's book, Oswald and the CIA, to see if there is any hint that Oswald may have had a hypnotically-induced, pro-communist alter of the type described by Dr. George Estabrooks in his 1943 textbook, Hypnosis. According to Estabrooks' case example, a suitable Marine (named "Jones") could, theoretically, be influenced by post-hypnotic sessions/suggestions to establish an alter personality, Jones A, who is an enthusiastic communist-- with total amnesia for the hypnosis sessions and programming. A co-conscious alter, Jones B, would be an anti-communist American patriot who is fully conscious of what Jones A is observing, but not vice versa-- offering an undetectable window into "communist" cells and/or countries. The U.S. embassy officials in Moscow in 1959, and Aline Mosby, did, in fact, describe the defector Oswald as behaving in an oddly wooden manner, while reciting communist slogans and refusing to engage in any sort of meaningful dialogue. Were they interacting with a "Jones A?" As for intelligence vs. counterintelligence, what I was referring to is a Newman hypothesis that Angleton may have been using the false defector Oswald in 1959 to see if the KGB had any genuine interest in learning about the U2 program. At the time, Angleton had evidence that a KGB mole in the CIA had already informed the Kremlin about the U2 technology.
  16. It's a new concept in psy ops... 🤣 New Zealand plays Barry Manilow to repel parliament protesters https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-60362529
  17. Well said, Paul. I, too, was disappointed when Biden and the Wall Street/MIC establishment eked out a win over Bernie Sanders and the progressives in the 2020 Democratic primaries. Bernie came close to winning, despite being completely ignored by the M$M in 2020. And, speaking of the billionaire class, here's an interesting graph from Thomas Piketty.
  18. Thank you, Mr. Caddy. Coming from you, that means a lot to me. At times, I tend to over react to the daily deluge of false and distorted narratives in the media nowadays. It makes me angry, because, in my opinion, mass propaganda and lies are destroying the fabric of our society. Not sure what any of us can really do about the problem, other than trying to speak the truth in our small corner(s) of the universe.
  19. Ben, As I mentioned earlier on this thread, I voted for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 and 2020 primaries. On the "Political Compass" rating scale, I score slightly left of center. https://www.politicalcompass.org/test I have donated money to progressive Democrats during the past 50 years, including Jerry Brown in '76, Gary Hart in '84, and Bernie Sanders since 2016. I also like Elizabeth Warren, Beto O'Rourke, and AOC. I have also donated money to environmental activists, and was a member of Ralph Nader's Rhode Island Public Interest Research Group (RIPIRG) in college in the 70s. I suspect that I ended up on the FBI No-Fly list after 9/11 because of my involvement in a student movement to end apartheid and free Mandela by urging my college alma mater to divest in South African stocks in the 70s. Never figured that one out, but the Mexican police pulled me out of a long line of passengers at the Cancun Airport in January of 2002 after scanning my passport. (My wife and daughters were really frightened by that incident.) On macro-economic issues I'm a Keynesian, and I believe that Republican, "supply side" tax cuts for the wealthy since the 1980s (2001, 2003, 2017) have been a disaster for the American people-- a "trickle down" plutocratic scam. Paul Krugman and Thomas Piketty are, generally, on target. But my posts here on the Education Forum about American history, economics, science, and current events are based on reality-- documented facts and references. Your attempt to dismiss them as "partisan" politics is another false narrative. I have often said here on the forum, long before you joined, that JFK was the last POTUS who tried to stand up to the CIA and the MIC. I was bitterly disappointed after 2008 when Obama retained Robert Gates at the DOD and acquiesced in the phony, post-9/11 Bush/Cheney/Neocon "War on Terror" in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and Yemen. You may recall that Obama and Bernie Sanders were among the few who had opposed the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003. Are you also aware that your hero, Rupert Murdoch, and Fox News were the most ardent boosters of the Iraq War in 2003? That Murdoch later boasted about his role in promoting the Iraq War debacle?
  20. What I recall about Rometsch is that J. Edgar Hoover had a tape of her giving Gerald Ford a blow job-- the basis of Ford being blackmailed into working for Hoover, LBJ, and Allen Dulles on the Warren Commission.
  21. Ben, Newsflash. Time for more remedial reading. In reality, the corporate M$M played a major role in helping Donald Trump get, improbably, elected in 2016.* Cliff Varnell often posted that Harvard/Berman/CJR evidence here on the Education Forum during the past four years, before you joined the forum, and started posting Rupert Murdoch's daily Fox "news" disinformation. 🤥 (BTW, do you ever study the references that the forum posts for you? Asking for a friend.) I recall discussing the puzzling NYT and WaPo sabotage of Hillary Clinton during the summer and fall of 2016 on another forum. My theory in 2016 was that the corporate M$M sabotage of Hillary was mainly about money-- income and corporate tax cuts. Corporate CEOs knew in 2016 that Hillary would not cut top income tax rates or corporate taxes, and might, possibly, raise, them as Bill Clinton did in 1993. If you want to understand Koch/GOP politics, follow the Benjamins. It ain't rocket science, dude. The bogus Trump/Fox narrative about Trump being a victim of the Deep State only emerged in the right wing media in 2017 as part of the cover up of Trump's ties to Putin-- Spygate, Obamagate, Nunes Memo, etc. * https://www.cjr.org/the_media_today/election_coverage_2020_trump.php * https://cyber.harvard.edu/story/2019-10/embarrassing-epilogue-medias-obsession-hillary-clintons-emails
