Speaking of Stratocasters, I bought a Mexican made Strat at Guitar Center many years ago for about $200. It's identical to the American-made Strats at a fraction of the price. Several years later, my wife and I went on a cruise to San Diego and Catalina that had a port of call at Ensenada, in Baja California. I wanted to visit the Fender guitar factory down there, (to buy a Tele) but I couldn't find any information about location, tours, etc. Fender didn't even want people to know that they had a factory in Ensenada.

As a musician, I have always been greatly impressed by the song-writing and artistry of Sting, Bono, and the Edge. If I recall correctly, Rolling Stone called U2 "the band of the 80s." As for the Police, they were a bona fide "super group," IMO -- three very talented musicians. I don't know a lot about their origins, but I know that the Police performed at the Rat in Kenmore Square before they went platinum. Unfortunately, I didn't see that show. Paul, I mentioned this issue of people doubting Prouty's credibility as a primary source witness because I recall reading some derogatory things about Prouty on-line several years ago, after reading his books. I had the impression that there was a smear campaign to impugn Prouty's reputation as a credible, informed witness against the CIA, similar in nature to the media smear campaigns against Jim Garrison and Oliver Stone. One source of the disinformation was McAdams.edu, and one of the memes (repeated on this very thread) was Lansdale's line about Prouty being a mere pilot, etc.
