Logistic question: Are we having disk space problems?

Recommended Posts

[xxxx. i'm an idiot. this is only affecting two users? effin' wow. disregard the previous.]

Actually, two users have reported their rather small attachment quotas. For all we know, many users have such shortcoming, but they are not affected because all they post is text.

One possibility is that the original web master/sysadmin left an ample quota for the person who hired him (Greg), and small for everybody else. All the rich graphics that we see are hosted elsewhere. That would mean that Greg is paying for a lot of disk space which is not being used.

Not so. I have asked several of the members who post large graphics regularly if they have the issue and the answer is no. None of them use a third party service. You are correct that there may be others who have the same upload limit, but if they only post text they wouldn't know about it and neither would I.

Going forward if you want to discuss my forum's upload issues or anything else about my forum let's do it there not here.

Most of the software didn't even have a name. It was done in order to support our invention of what they call today "Social Media", in the days of Usenet and e-mail only, before web.

The application that became best known was: "Elector Electro". It was used to vote in presidential elections. Results were not binding but a Constitution was modified thanks to it.

in the days of Usenet and e-mail only, before web.

Back in the "day" the WWW was mostly accessed through a DOOR on some BBSs.

This was a time when making sure your modem was "bell" compatible was important and having a transfer rate of 60bps (not 60kps) was blazing fast.

I remember those days well.

i just found it interesting that you'd use it as a credential only to then downplay it as one of thousands. don't quite get the point of braggadocio. don't get me wrong. i'm on your CT side, just find your claims a bit, um, ... well....
