I find it hard to parse the hacking story. It may be the most serious news ever, or it may not be. It seems to me that it is a battle of empires, and we are equally guilty. I’d like to envision a different kind of world, but powerful interests would rather compete, arm themselves to the teeth, and put us all in danger. As a point of fact, the three most powerful "labor leaders" in the United States since 1947 were all Central Intelligence Agency agents working for James Jesus Angleton's Counterintelligence staff! Jay Lovestone, Irving Brown, & Carmel Offie were all CIA agents and were effectively the leaders of the most powerful trade unions in the United States for the bulk of the second half of the twentieth century! And that is not to say the the CIA was controlling the Communist movement in the United States, like "Tail-Gunner" Joe McCarthy was raving about back in the 1950's! Simply put, the CIA and the FBI crippled social and economic unity from the inside-out and gutted the middle-class for fifty years after until it found itself in the current economic nightmare it is in now, where their is no middle class, just the super-rich and the dirt poor! For many years I have firmly believed that, in the 1960's, the most reactionary forces of the right succeeded in crippling the progressive movement in the United States by murdering the three most charismatic leaders of the left. If you want to argue that Communism means something other than it actually does, go for it. I take your point - in your view Russia and China are a threat and always have been. It’s always hard to wade through Emory’s work because of formatting and repetition. But it’s always interesting. I used to listen to Mae Brussell, and I think Emory followed in her footsteps.
