Marilyn, Tony Summers' and his Paper TIger

Recommended Posts

I read this devastating comment to the Esquire article. Whew, talk about one in the mouth:

“The documentary confirms” that RFK flew to the airport to catch a flight around 2 or 3 am on the night of Monroe’s death.” How does the documentary confirm this when in fact RFK was on a ranch near Gilroy, California with his wife and four children on August 4th and August 5th? There is documentation from the August 6, 1962 Gilroy newspaper that RFK and his family attended 9 am mass in Gilroy on the morning of Sunday, August 5th. There is pictorial evidence documenting his stay at the ranch of attorney John Bates that entire weekend. The documentary is based on a book littered with many unscrupulous sources including Jeanne Carmen who provided no proof that she was friends with Monroe as she claimed. After the book was published she later claimed she had an affair with JFK. How did she manage to forget that? There’s another witness who claimed Marilyn always called him from a phone booth and revealed all sorts of intimate stories. Of course he would claim she called from a phone booth because there is no record of Monroe ever calling him in her call logs. He too has changed his story, disputed information in the book, and like Carmen, has no evidence (photos, letters, anything) to substantiate his claims. But Summers still used it for his sensationalized book, a book that the Greenson children considered an abomination. Come on, Esquire, this does not sound like an objective review of the “documentary.” It sounds more like a press release promoting it. Do better."

How did Bobby happen to be in California at that time?

He had been invited by his friend John Bates, who was part of a big law firm in Frisco to visit his ranch.

When he got an invite to do a speech up there, he accepted.

You know, it is almost mind boggling how many people bugged Marilyn at so many places.

And yet no one has heard a tape.  So Summers calls his show "the unheard tapes."

Definitely fishy...

Who is Carlyn Beccia Pamela?

Most of this  article had been impeached forever by Don McGovern.

That picture for example is greatly cropped so as not to expose that there were literally scores of people in that room.  In a few minutes Steve Smith was leading MM around the room hand in hand.

There were upwards of 20 entertainers there for that combination birthday party, fundraiser.

And MM was escorted there by her father in law.  She then drove him home after, and when she got back to her room, her fan club was awaiting her.  She was very nice and gave them a few minutes before going upstairs alone.

And that was that.

The rhetoric in this article is libelous in a truly vicious manner, but done in such a way that they probably could not be sued.

We might ask what would be a motive for killing Marilyn.  Who profited from her death?

It is my impression that Marilyn was just throwing herself at JFK in the birthday performance.

I consider that very disrespectful to Jackie...

I am tempted to think that whoever put Marilyn on the stage that night wanted to cause trouble for the Kennedys...

That is impossible Paul.

The photos in Susan Bernard's book prove he was in GIlroy all day from morning to night.

He then rose early the next day for church services.

I have the book. Not seeing anything about church...

With all due respect, that is an appeal to authority...

I have the book. I don't know when I've seen more wonderful photos of Marilyn.

And yes, there are photos said to have been taken during the day of RFK et al, doing various activities. I don't know how we would know for sure they were taken on August 4, 1962, or what they are doing in a book about MM except to distance RFK from LA and her, but I do appreciate them...

And in case you are wondering, my focus is not to find fault with RFK but rather to find out how I ended up eyeball-to-eyeball with him just before he was killed...so I am looking at all the available sources of information...I hope you will bear with me...

Don McGovern notes the articles in the local papers about RFK attending church the next morning.

Pamela: are you saying you were at the Ambassador the night Bobby Kennedy was shot?

I was on Montgomery Street in San Francisco the day before.

He looked so scared, I did not know what to think.

It was much later I learned that someone had thrown a chinese firecracker into the back of their car when they came down Grant Avenue (in Chinatown)...

I always wondered why I came to SF from NYC a few months earlier, had just started a job at 1 Montgomery, and happened to be pushed by the crazy crowd into his car...

And then, of course, I watched the celebration and speech at the Ambassador ballroom on TV from San Francisco.  "On to Chicago, and let's win there" Bobby said. He left the stage... at first, there were what sounded like muted cries, then chaos erupted in the ballroom...

Do you have pictures of you in SF on Montgomery?

BTW, the pictures are in the Bernard book because she asked for them from the Bates family.

No, I don't have photos. I looked out the window of my desk on the third floor of 1 Montgomery and saw ticker tape and bras flying and then was told that this was Bobby. I ran downstairs and out the steps and then got caught up in the crowd that pushed me against his car.

This video shows 1 Montgomery and the portico where my desk was.  My new job was as a training writer for a Vice President of the Crocker Bank...
