The Strap

I've been looking at the condition of the strap on CE139 since David Von Pein posted a close-up shot of it recently, see here;

It appears to be in excellent condition, buckles all shiny, leather looks great, the strap holes showing no sign of excessive use like an old belt.

Let's see... strap attachment moves from the side to the bottom, rifle changes length from catalog to shipment, rifle changes from 7.65 Mauser to 6.5 Mannlicher Carcano, misaligned scope becomes accurate, Oswald's palmprints appear only after his death, worn strap becomes new again...

No wonder they call CE 399 the Magic Bullet. It came from a magic rifle.

He furthers his chances of escape by acting suspiciously and drawing attention to himself. Then he figures he'll avoid arrest by beating the Texas Theater out of a 90 cent movie ticket.

Yeah, that's believable.

Who, in your estimation, was arrested inside the Texas Theater? If it wasn't Oswald, who was it, and what happened to the real Oswald? If it was Oswald, did he buy a ticket or not?

Not only that, but the lone-gunman theory's cop killer was nice to enough to leave spent shell casings at the crime scene, instead of disposing of them later out of sight, and he was also considerate enough to have five bullets in one of his pockets when he was arrested. Yeah, totally believable.

LHO also helpfully left his wallet at the scene with both his real and alternate ID, "Hidell," through which he mail-ordered the weapons he just used to murder people.

No, the Selective Service card was found on him at the time of his arrest. It's hardly an outrageous idea for a man on the run to bring false ID. Sometimes it can help you avoid being arrested.

Not sure about this. There seems endless confusion on whether LHO had a wallet on him at time of arrest, or whether his wallet was left at the Tippit crime scene. 

Some say there was no LHO wallet at the crime scene, but the b/w grainy TV news film shows a wallet that sure looks like LHO's wallet being looked at the Tippit crime scene, and of course we have the recollections of FBI agent Barrett.

"After arriving at 10th and Patton in North Oak Cliff, (FBI Agent Robert) Barrett said, he recognized a Dallas police captain thumbing through a billfold (at the Tippit crime scene). 

'He said, 'Bob, you know all the crooks in town, all the hoodlums, etc. You ever heard of a Lee Harvey Oswald?' I said, 'No, I never have.' He said 'How about an Alec Hiddell?' I said, 'No. I never have heard of him either,'' Barrett explained. 'Why would they be asking me questions about Oswald and Hiddell if it wasn't in that wallet?'

My guess is the LHO wallet was planted at the crime scene, perhaps by the DPD "enhancing the evidence." Low-level police tactics of the time.  But maybe higher-ups involved....

Not much luck with a pic of the pistol holster, but this is an interesting Pic of a Carcano with its offset telescopic sight which for a right handed (right eyed) shooter could be slightly problematic.

Just like how the "hijackers'" pristine passports gently wafted to the ground after everything in the World Trade Center towers was completely pulverized. Mighty convenient.
