Robert "Turn Every Page" Caro to Star in New Documentary Movie!

Always love reading the "full" truth of LBJ.

Even Caro describes LBJ as a life long inveterate xxxx.

JFK staying alive was death for LBJ.

LBJ knew JFK was going to be re-elected by a wide margin.

LBJ knew his career would be finished if this JFK second term scenario played out.

LBJ knew RFK hated him and he would have been dropped from the 1964 ticket or forced to withdraw as a VP choice.

LBJ also knew that he was extremely vulnerable to serious personal business criminal charges and if the Kennedy brothers remained in power they would not support his defense.

LBJ's ( "we're like brothers" ) best power back up buddy Hoover was in the same career threatened boat LBJ was in if JFK stayed in power.

Nobody had more self-interest destroying fear motive in wanting JFK removed than the LBJ and Hoover brothers.

There is a massive black hole in the official LBJ historical record.

One telling of his true level of corruption.

A man who ordered murders of personal and political threats. LBJ was that corrupt.

It's a darkly ominous and sad revelation that our society could be so easily manipulated and kept ignorant of such hugely important truths like LBJ's true level of corruption. And for so long a period of time...over half a century!

This film is about Caro's relationship with his editor, Robert

Gottlieb; it's made by Gottlieb's daughter. In my 2019 book,

FRANKLY: UNMASKING FRANK CAPRA, I write extensively

about Gottlieb. FRANKLY is an expose of corruption in the publishing

industry and of an archivist (Jeanine Basinger of Wesleyan University) who tried (and failed) with

Gottlieb to stop or gut my 1992 biography of Frank

Capra, FRANK CAPRA: THE CATASTROPHE OF SUCCESS.

Joseph, is this the one you ended up going to court over to get published?

Thank you for enlightening us about Gottlieb.

Could you expand a little in what ways the publishing world is corrupted?

False sales numbers? Book advances as pay offs? Some agency influence in publishing one book over another? Planted critics?

Has there been some shady doings with publishers making Caro out to be this historical writer icon?

Do you feel Caro, even with some criticism of LBJ in his books, still omits the worst of LBJ? LBJ's most ruthless and criminal doings?

In my thoroughly detailed 601-page book, FRANKLY: UNMASKING

FRANK CAPRA, I write specifically about the attempts to stop my Capra

biography, a legal battle that took up four years

of my life but which I ultimately won. I am sure there many other examples of such corruption.

But when I told my story at the time to a distinguished

fellow author, a future winner of the Pulitzer Prize, he said, "This

is the most bizarre story I ever heard. The worst thing

I ever heard. . . . Offending Frank Capra is the least

of it. It's a real mystery. I've never heard a story like this." I greatly admire Caro's biography of Robert Moses --

it and Boswell's Life of Johnson are the best

nonfiction books I've ever read -- and Caro's first

volume on Johnson was an inspiration to me

when I wrote the Capra biography. I went with Gottlieb

partly because he was Caro's editor. Caro let us down

in Vol. 4, printing lies about the JFK assassination (including

the myth about Rufus Youngblood jumping over the

seat to shield LBJ with his body, which Senator Ralph

Yarborough, who was riding in the back seat with

LBJ and Lady Bird, told me did not happen). Caro in a 1985 lecture at the New York

Public Library said that in coming volumes he would deal with what he called Johnson's "blood feud with the Kennedys,

which is a drama of Shakespearean vividness," so I had expected more. But you

don't get the big advances and prizes telling the truth

about the Kennedy assassination. Nevertheless, even

in Caro's Vol. 4, there is much valuable detail about the pressures

Johnson was feeling that day. And Caro earlier showed how

Johnson felt he simply had to become president. Well-informed readers can

put together the puzzle ourselves.

Ron, the legal battle didn't go as far as court.

I won out of court against Random House/Knopf and took my Capra biography to a new publisher,

Simon & Schuster. I felt it wise to keep the battle quiet at the

time but wrote about it eventually in FRANKLY.

Some of us truly believe that LBJ was involved in ordering or in the least okaying murders.

To me, this is the separation line between the full corruption truth of LBJ versus the less ruthless and corrupt one.

Up until today, the latter version of LBJ is still the only one with official sanction.

To me, this is an abomination of our true historical record truth as well as revealing of a collective societal mental health aberration. One of accepting and living in a false reality.

How does Caro depict and describe the almost unbelievable corrupt power play by LBJ in getting a Texas Judge to nullify a trial jury's "Murder With Malice" guilty verdict decision regards LBJ's protege Malcom Wallace?

Essentially letting Wallace go scot-free immediately after the trial?

Wallace had earlier driven to LBJ's sister lover Doug Kinser's Austin, Texas pitch and putt golf course and in broad daylight and in front of many nearby witnesses walked into Kinser's club house and blasted the unarmed Kinser away.

Now THAT'S some LBJ Texas style power and influence corruption.

Even a Mafia godfather couldn't pull off something that outrageous.

Joe, the only persons named Wallace in the Index of his last two books are named George and Henry.  No one named "Malcolm, Malcomb" or "Mac" either.

Not only did Caro miss that person and event, he didn't note the name "Billie Sol Estes" either.  Not even his corrupted buddy U.S. Attorney Barefoot Sanders (later made a federal judge), among many others' doors remained closed, and their related sub-plots.  Such as the one I discovered and reported HERE.  (About Chad Mills and his Great Uncle Milton Good--who had been on RFK's task force to find dirt on LBJ-- killed just days before the 1960 Democratic Convention).

By not naming Estes, he also gets a pass on the 7 associates of his as well as many other related murders and financial crimes too numerous to mention which also involved Billie Sol and the ever-increasingly tight tether to Lyndon Johnson's invisible hand.
