Taylor Swift had a concert in Edinburgh, Scotland.

It triggered seismic detectors 4 miles away.

Donald Trump is desperate, desperate for Taylor Swift's endorsement.

Trump Floats One Weird Idea To Replace The U.S. Income Tax

By Jonathan Nicholson Jun 13, 2024

Former president Donald Trump on Thursday raised the prospect of scrapping the U.S. income tax system and replacing it with something very different: much higher tariffs on imported goods.

Most intriguing policy idea from the GOP meeting at the Capitol Hill Club this morning: Trump briefly floated the concept of eliminating the income tax and replacing it with tariffs,” said Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) in a social media post, adding a monocle-clad emoji face at the end.

Citing sources inside the meeting, CNBC also reported Trump had raised the idea of an “all tariff policy.”

In one way, Trump’s idea would simply be a return to the past. Prior to the imposition of the income tax in 1913, tariffs were a main source of government revenue.

Trump hinted at that idea by reportedly praising President William McKinley at the meeting Thursday.”

Steve, That is an absolute economic disaster for the common person.!

Trump would need a vigorous police state to handle the fallout and he's fine with that.

Any Democracy depends on a certain  awareness and engagement of the public.

If the American public end up voting for that they are absolutely stupid!

You know in  recent polls, they note that there has been a gain for Trump among younger black male voters and as Steve noted in an earlier article. Among younger voters there has been a split with the males going more conservative and the females going more liberal.

The Republicans and Trump aren't going to do anything for the young black males except spout trickle down promises! It goes against their entire creed of dismantling the "Administrative State."

Again, what are people thinking?

"Describing meetings with Biden, the president-elect, Fauci writes of “a no-nonsense person guided by integrity and empathy” who “clearly was in charge” and would eventually return the White House “to its pre-Trump normal,” despite deepening political schisms in the U.S. at large."

A slight aside from US and World affairs.  I heard an advertisement for this on the radio and thought what a hokey cornball name for a festival.  Couldn't they come up with Something better than this?  Naturally I had to google it.  Is Arkansas moving east?  Now I'm in the mood for a BLT.

- Donald Trump -

"" Thousands and thousands of terrorists are pouring into the United States. They're coming from countries from all over the world, not just South America, but Venezuela."

Let's make him our President. He knows all that stuff.

Bibi wants Trump to win. Hamas is funded by Russia.

So the odds of either side giving anything that might look like a political victory to Biden is basically nil.

Additionally, the two sides hate each other so much I'm not convinced they even want to stop fighting.

In Trump's case, Artificial Intelligence is better than No Intelligence-- at least for linguistic purposes.

Better to deliver an AI-generated speech than a word salad... 🤓

Trump says AI wrote one of his speeches – Kevin Drum (jabberwocking.com)
